Any good CRPG lets you roleplay. Having lots of options does sound nice but it's rare I feel restricted in other RPGs I've played and I'm more interested in the character writing and story of an RPG.
No offense or anything, but your description is pretty vague.
I played a lot of rpgs and none ever gave me that much with so much production value behind it. I don't mean dialogue option, bg3 let's you spin some situations completely. For example since you say I'm being vague. On act 2 you get your standard inn/camp with people fighting the bad guys for you to rest and help you. Well, turns out you can betray and just murder all of them and that kills important characters. You can also decapitate a potential party member and romance option. It's stuff like that, it let's you do thing that you don't even think it should. It's things like that and i just pick up two examples.

I suppose I could see the appeal of killing annoying npcs or those that have it coming but might otherwise have questgiver plot armor. It's nice, though I don't usually play evil characters, but for me options don't mean much if the story isn't engaging.

I think it has all of these elements, and only starts to falter at the finish line but even then you can forgive some of these flaws because the 99 hours that preceded them are really good.
Interesting characters, and a central plot that gets me engaged are the biggest ones for me. Roleplaying options are big in regards to how they serve my interaction with the plot and characters. Reactivity is good, combat should at least be servicable. Waifus are take it or leave it, as I've gotten older I've found most vidya romances are either shallow or with uninteresting people. Ideally choice and consequence is good but in practice it often turns into a game of "guess the dev's thinking process" with consequences you can't react to or attempt to mitigate within reason.

I have fun playing it. I make different characters, and they feel legitimately different, which hasn't happened in an RPG in a loooooong time. If you don't know what that is, or what it means, or if it feels "vague", this isn't for you, go play a round of Fortnite. BG3 has nothing going for it except for the sheer amount of voiced dialogue and cutscenes. And those aren't even delivered or animated well
I pre ordered it and did all the shrines and lightroots and got the furry outfit. The depths was cool at first but it's really barebones. I liked the sky islands but there really wasn't enough of them. The final dungeon was shit compared to hyrule castle and the dungeons were on par with the divine beasts except the lightning temple

Still not different enough to cost more than BOTW. It didn't even address the biggest issues with BOTW and created more problems than it solved. BG3 uses a similar structure to Divinity OS 1/2 but uses mostly new assets a different ruleset and an improved dialog system

I was completely in favor of it winning. I bought it on a whim unlike TOTK which I had pre ordered and I've replayed BG3 3 times and I had to force myself to finish TOTK, it was way to similar to BOTW to justify the higher price.
This is the best game I have ever played. I didn't think they were going to be able to surpass DOS2, but they improved and expanded upon that formula in every way.
In a few years once it's stopped being cool and contrarian to pretend to hate this game more people will come around to the fact that BG3 is simply one of the best RPGs every made. I feel bad for the people who convince themselves they have to hate everything that's currently popular, but I know everyone grows out of that phase eventually.

Whenever a game is said to be "a lesson to the industry", it's pretty much guaranteed that nothing will actually be learned and it was just an anomaly. At best, AAA companies like Ubisoft will implement that lesson in the laziest way possible to show that they have "learned" (they didn't).

I tried out the 2 WoW classes someone made for the game and while I can say the Demon Hunter clashes way too much with the game's aesthetic, the Death Knight actually works pretty well as a kind of Blackguard equivalent. They're both stupidly OP though.

Any good CRPG lets you roleplay. Having lots of options does sound nice but it's rare I feel restricted in other RPGs I've played and I'm more interested in the character writing and story of an RPG.
No offense or anything, but your description is pretty vague.
I played a lot of rpgs and none ever gave me that much with so much production value behind it. I don't mean dialogue option, bg3 let's you spin some situations completely. For example since you say I'm being vague. On act 2 you get your standard inn/camp with people fighting the bad guys for you to rest and help you. Well, turns out you can betray and just murder all of them and that kills important characters. You can also decapitate a potential party member and romance option. It's stuff like that, it let's you do thing that you don't even think it should. It's things like that and i just pick up two examples.
I suppose I could see the appeal of killing annoying npcs or those that have it coming but might otherwise have questgiver plot armor. It's nice, though I don't usually play evil characters, but for me options don't mean much if the story isn't engaging.

I think it has all of these elements, and only starts to falter at the finish line but even then you can forgive some of these flaws because the 99 hours that preceded them are really good.

Interesting characters, and a central plot that gets me engaged are the biggest ones for me. Roleplaying options are big in regards to how they serve my interaction with the plot and characters. Reactivity is good, combat should at least be servicable. Waifus are take it or leave it, as I've gotten older I've found most vidya romances are either shallow or with uninteresting people. Ideally choice and consequence is good but in practice it often turns into a game of "guess the dev's thinking process" with consequences you can't react to or attempt to mitigate within reason.

I have fun playing it. I make different characters, and they feel legitimately different, which hasn't happened in an RPG in a loooooong time. If you don't know what that is, or what it means, or if it feels "vague", this isn't for you, go play a round of Fortnite. I liked the sky islands but there really wasn't enough of them. The final dungeon was shit compared to hyrule castle and the dungeons were on par with the divine beasts except the lightning temple

I was completely in favor of it winning. I bought it on a whim unlike TOTK which I had pre ordered and I've replayed BG3 3 times and I had to force myself to finish TOTK, it was way to similar to BOTW to justify the higher price.
This is the best game I have ever played. I didn't think they were going to be able to surpass DOS2, but they improved and expanded upon that formula in every way.
In a few years once it's stopped being cool and contrarian to pretend to hate this game more people will come around to the fact that BG3 is simply one of the best RPGs every made. I feel bad for the people who convince themselves they have to hate everything that's currently popular, but I know everyone grows out of that phase eventually.

Whenever a game is said to be "a lesson to the industry", it's pretty much guaranteed that nothing will actually be learned and it was just an anomaly. At best, AAA companies like Ubisoft will implement that lesson in the laziest way possible to show that they have "learned" (they didn't).
