There's a separate quest mode that has more quests unlock the further you progress in the story. Post game ("chapter 0" and beyond) has you basically do quests to progress. >How does unlocking characters work? Can you get most of them early on or not?
Depends on your definition of early, you buy them with tickets you get in game and your first one comes pretty early on. You get more tickets after that but it's a little pointless to pick up anyone else until you progress further and they become level capped, unless you wanna grind more for a character. lol no, but you have to have them in your party for the main quest, which takes 10-14 hours depending.

I played her up to and including Managamr or whatever the ice wolf is called before switching. It’s not a hard mechanic to use.
If you put yourself at risk with the dive, that’s on you for getting overzealous, and it’s something that can happen to any character.
Still have mixed feelings about her new design. I get that the Society was always going to tech up eventually since they salvage moontech, but I guess I got used to them wearing fantasy armor.
So sticking my lads in the extreme gallanza mines while I work, I just found out that there is either an auto-repeat or afk limit of about 15-20 quests. The AI also seems to favor maximum flashiness since they'll knock him down to 1% and then just unload will all their SBAs
Its 10? Seriously? That feels way too low but I actually haven't been checking so maybe my auto was just really slow.
How do you set that up?
Full assist mode works up until extreme and you dodge EVERYTHING while the AI handles the rest or if you're ranged you contribute too. In theory you can set it up with any boss or arena fight but I've seen the AI get stuck or leash in the bigger arenas
Doubtful, since it looks like little more than a remaster of the first game. Still gonna buy it day 1 but I'm really indifferent and not expecting much.

I'm playing on Steam with my Switch pro controller, but the game reads it as Xbox 1 Controller and swaps the x/y and a/b. This is disorienting, so I went into Steam Controller settings and swapped them to reflect the Nintendo layout. Issue is, I go into the game, and the layout hasn't changed- i press the b button and it registers as a b button, but the game layout shows the b button on the right side rather than the bottom.
Is there a way to fix this? Make the game layout match the switch Controller and buttons? Or should i bust out the less comfy ps or xbone Controller.

This is 4 ranged characters so they can actually contribute when he's in the air, and his AI Io has a Terminus weapon, which helps massively with SBA damage, not sure about the others.
This game left me feeling a little blackpilled. For me this game is one of the platonic ideals of a 20-30 dollar game. In truth nothing it does is special but it's still a decently made game (I'm genuinely surprised the animations aren't pure spergery like most of the games of it's ilk) and an enjoyable romp especially if you got buddies. And yet will I have more fun playing another game released this year? Probably but there is still a decent chance that this is the game I will have had the most fun with even if I think another game is better.

Though I don't think you can call this a cheese, but my strategy for it was using Guts, Auto-revive, Aegis, HP (had to stack a few) and the healing cap sigil while playing danchou without a single damage skill, full support.

You will eventually get 100% on all your trees so it doesn't matter too much.
The story most is just the tutorial of the game. There is not much difficulty but you might reach one or two boss fights where you get walled if your team isn't leveld.
It's definitely going to get challenging on hard. At the end it's boss after boss after boss and they all fill up the whole screen with visual diarrhea, and if your character even touches one pixel of the glowing beams of vomit you go into a stunlock loop where you get hit more and more
Is Supplemental Damage even remotely good? I'm using Lancelot and having a hard time telling how much the buff helps with all the numbers flying about.
I've recently switched off it and started using the skill that inflicts Glaciate instead, but I'd like to know for sure if the buff was ever impactful.

Are zeta's unique sigils any good? I finally got a double sigil for someone besides Gran but its for a character I don't play. I'm assuming the +25% arvess damage doesn't ignore the damage cap, so it seems kinda bad if thats how it works.
The increased damage doesn't ignore the cap but does make it easier (if you needed that). The increase timing window for jumps is ridiculous, I haven't missed a jump ever since I got it.

The gatcha can be kino at times but of course, you don't get the production values and 3D setpieces, and quality varies a lot.
ReLink as of now is "semi-canon", it's set in a part of the game world we haven't explored (We have gone to Phantagrande and Nahelgrande, ReLink is in Zegagrande).
Rolan himself is a pretty neat lore piece, he likely worked under Lucilius and would have been one of the people creating primal beasts like Rosetta.

I know katalina is a mainstay in the gacha (even though I heard she dies lol??) and rackam seems to be the ships pilot. what about the other ones? just fan favorites? I'm just glad rosetta is one of the main ones because she makes me diamonds
The "permanent" main crew of the gatcha is Lyria, Katalina, Rackam, Eugen, Io and Rosetta. They are the "main cast". You have some temporary ones that come along for a short while periodically like Lecia, Cain, Rein, Apollo, Sturm and Drang, but the main crew of ReLink is the same as the gacha itself. Katalina's death just happened in the gacha and several others too, and she will likely be revived, the main character is trying to become a primal god so he can revive the crew.
There's actually more from the factions. There's Gawain for the knights, and there's Beatrix, Eustace and Ilsa from Society. There's other factions too like the Irestill Knights. We are getting two Eternals in the 2nd free DLC pack.

Cag provides buffs and heals, which the game places a high value on. It's also why AI Rosetta tends to steal MVP early on.

Not necessarily. My wife has a Grand, and she hasn't appeared in a single MSQ.
Most granblue characters are "minor" characters like all gatcha games really. So say what you will about versus launch and relink's rosters but they do include the only characters who could realistically be considered major.
gacha lives and thrives from the side characters
usually the main characters are the most boring, unoffensive group of people possible and you get them for free, so you will take out your credit card and swipe so you actually get the more interesting characters
this become a problem when you throw them into non gacha games where it hinges on the main characters being interesting, and we're seeing it live with how asinine and banal the story of relink is.
Half the crew in this game is basically the canon (“tutorial”) crew from the gacha. As in, not something you roll in the gacha.
The ones that are gacha characters are fan favorites and / or very lore important.

This game is unironically the kind of game I wish Genshin was- a cozy, comfy, non-predatory anime fantasy adventure game. I was hoping Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris would have been this sort of game, but it was cancerous aids, and frankly it's also kind of funny to me how a studio best known for developing a GACHA game is able to produce a fantastic anime fantasy action RPG and the motherfricking Sword Art Online exclusive devs- a series based off an anime that is literally a fantasy action RPG- make absolute hot garbage by comparison.

You haven't even played this game by the sound of it.
There are mechanics that just insta wipe people, one mistake and you are dead in proud.
If a DD can dodge every mechanic and keep his DPS going all fight then he would get MVP.
In most cases he wont be able to regardless because there is pretty much inescapable damage in a lot of the quests.
It is early days yet too, I see so many people online with the sigil where they cannot be healed and are at like 25% all the time, basically 1shot.
They haven't figured out the mechanics and with proud specifically, its not about raw DPS its about being able to survive hits.

The story eventually ends with Vira realizing that other people besides Katalina exist.
Vira was going nuts over her unrequited love for Katalina and her duties as the host for the primal beast, so said primal beast possessed her body before she snapped.

There's a separate quest mode that has more quests unlock the further you progress in the story. Post game ("chapter 0" and beyond) has you basically do quests to progress.

Depends on your definition of early, you buy them with tickets you get in game and your first one comes pretty early on. You get more tickets after that but it's a little pointless to pick up anyone else until you progress further and they become level capped, unless you wanna grind more for a character. (you can also "try out" characters when you buy them with a ticket, and then alt+f4 and reload your save before leaving the training area)

I've tried it, it is tricky until you get the unique sigil. And it's not like you can just mash it once you get the timing down.

So sticking my lads in the extreme gallanza mines while I work, I just found out that there is either an auto-repeat or afk limit of about 15-20 quests. The AI also seems to favor maximum flashiness since they'll knock him down to 1% and then just unload will all their SBAs

Full assist mode works up until extreme and you dodge EVERYTHING while the AI handles the rest or if you're ranged you contribute too. In theory you can set it up with any boss or arena fight but I've seen the AI get stuck or leash in the bigger arenas

I'm playing on Steam with my Switch pro controller, but the game reads it as Xbox 1 Controller and swaps the x/y and a/b. This is disorienting, so I went into Steam Controller settings and swapped them to reflect the Nintendo layout. Issue is, I go into the game, and the layout hasn't changed- i press the b button and it registers as a b button, but the game layout shows the b button on the right side rather than the bottom.
Is there a way to fix this? Make the game layout match the switch Controller and buttons? Or should i bust out the less comfy ps or xbone Controller.
You can change the button order on your controller in the steam menu but just take out the xbone because it’s a pain in the ass.

This is 4 ranged characters so they can actually contribute when he's in the air, and his AI Io has a Terminus weapon, which helps massively with SBA damage, not sure about the others.
This game left me feeling a little blackpilled. For me this game is one of the platonic ideals of a 20-30 dollar game. In truth nothing it does is special but it's still a decently made game (I'm genuinely surprised the animations aren't pure spergery like most of the games of it's ilk) and an enjoyable romp especially if you got buddies. And yet will I have more fun playing another game released this year? Probably but there is still a decent chance that this is the game I will have had the most fun with even if I think another game is better.

Though I don't think you can call this a cheese, but my strategy for it was using Guts, Auto-revive, Aegis, HP (had to stack a few) and the healing cap sigil while playing danchou without a single damage skill, full support.

A few questions. Does it ever get challenging? I have it on hard and it kinda plays itself (I'm on chapter II) Does it even matter where I spend my skill points? It seems like everything is just HP+ ATK+ and abilities. I'm just going down the tree. Can I switch characters in battle or do I always have to set the party before combat? I'm liking the game but It's so dumbed down.
You will eventually get 100% on all your trees so it doesn't matter too much.
The story most is just the tutorial of the game. There is not much difficulty but you might reach one or two boss fights where you get walled if your team isn't leveld.
Is the challenge only in co-op?
It's definitely going to get challenging on hard. At the end it's boss after boss after boss and they all fill up the whole screen with visual diarrhea, and if your character even touches one pixel of the glowing beams of vomit you go into a stunlock loop where you get hit more and more
Is Supplemental Damage even remotely good? I'm using Lancelot and having a hard time telling how much the buff helps with all the numbers flying about.
I've recently switched off it and started using the skill that inflicts Glaciate instead, but I'd like to know for sure if the buff was ever impactful.

Are zeta's unique sigils any good? I finally got a double sigil for someone besides Gran but its for a character I don't play. I'm assuming the +25% arvess damage doesn't ignore the damage cap, so it seems kinda bad if thats how it works.
The increased damage doesn't ignore the cap but does make it easier (if you needed that). The increase timing window for jumps is ridiculous, I haven't missed a jump ever since I got it.

It's pretty kino but it's a literal 10 year old phone browser game so it's held back by that in terms of spectacle.
The gatcha can be kino at times but of course, you don't get the production values and 3D setpieces, and quality varies a lot.
ReLink as of now is "semi-canon", it's set in a part of the game world we haven't explored (We have gone to Phantagrande and Nahelgrande, ReLink is in Zegagrande).
Rolan himself is a pretty neat lore piece, he likely worked under Lucilius and would have been one of the people creating primal beasts like Rosetta.

The "permanent" main crew of the gatcha is Lyria, Katalina, Rackam, Eugen, Io and Rosetta. They are the "main cast". You have some temporary ones that come along for a short while periodically like Lecia, Cain, Rein, Apollo, Sturm and Drang, but the main crew of ReLink is the same as the gacha itself.
Katalina's death just happened in the gacha and several others too, and she will likely be revived, the main character is trying to become a primal god so he can revive the crew.

Most granblue characters are "minor" characters like all gatcha games really. So say what you will about versus launch and relink's rosters but they do include the only characters who could realistically be considered major.

usually the main characters are the most boring, unoffensive group of people possible and you get them for free, so you will take out your credit card and swipe so you actually get the more interesting characters

This game is unironically the kind of game I wish Genshin was- a cozy, comfy, non-predatory anime fantasy adventure game. I was hoping Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris would have been this sort of game, but it was cancerous aids, and frankly it's also kind of funny to me how a studio best known for developing a GACHA game is able to produce a fantastic anime fantasy action RPG and the motherfricking Sword Art Online exclusive devs- a series based off an anime that is literally a fantasy action RPG- make absolute hot garbage by comparison.
So anyway, yeah, great game so far. I give credit where it is due- there is monetization in the DLC here, but it's hardly predatory. If I could pull out my modem and keep playing the game I'm playing, it's pretty solid.

There are mechanics that just insta wipe people, one mistake and you are dead in proud.

In most cases he wont be able to regardless because there is pretty much inescapable damage in a lot of the quests.
It is early days yet too, I see so many people online with the sigil where they cannot be healed and are at like 25% all the time, basically 1shot.
They haven't figured out the mechanics and with proud specifically, its not about raw DPS its about being able to survive hits.

The story eventually ends with Vira realizing that other people besides Katalina exist.
Vira was going nuts over her unrequited love for Katalina and her duties as the host for the primal beast, so said primal beast possessed her body before she snapped.
Vira would get better and get along with others (as the serious one), and she’s even cordial with the Lowain Bros.

The whole 3 charges for finisher thing on Zeta is not there from the start is it? I unlocked her but there doesn't seem to be anything like that in it. Her dives get stronger as you loop, probably up to 3, but when I finish with triangle after that she doesn't get an atk buff.
