The problem with Rosetta is you need to think about things a little bit in advance to maximize her performance, which means 95% of players will get filtered, including myself.

You can get carried all the way through proud easily. Narmaya is still the most common for me to see constantly dying. Her and Siegfried are the most 2 common shiiters from what I've noticed in proud matches.

It does feel to me that ranged chars are kinda OP right now. Rackam is dead easy to play and still racks up big numbers, and eugen also has insane dps late game.
Meanwhile melee chars are forced to play dodge the circles every 20 seconds when the boss decides he wants to go in overdrive now and attack non-stop while zooming around the map.
I dunno, I find him the easiest of the three main primals (on Narmaya and Ferry).
As shitty as he is, he doesn't have anywhere near as much downtime periods as the other two and unlike them, where their main bloodthirsty mechanic makes them untargetable, the point of his is to damage him and you can even kill him during it.

I play on kb+m, but I had to change keybindings.
It helps that some keys can be borderline useless like reset camera and lock on, it frees more space on the kb.
My favorite combos is to take phanlax and the attack debuffs. You basically get nearly 100% damage reduction and you can face tank through any attack if you have stout heart. It works for the entire party too if they are close enough to get the phanlax buff.
Who is a good/fun character to use my first ticket on? I've got some friends to play with later, but they're not always available at the times I'm usually on, so I feel like I might need to pick up a few characters who are decent when AI controlled.

I generally take the time to learn how characters play and whatnot in games like these and fighting games, so I'm not truly worried about being an absolute shitter. What I am worried about is people getting so used to characters X and Y being controlled by shitters that they quit out of quests whenever they see one. And while I like Narm's play style, I don't think it'll be a good fit for me when I'm still learning the fights. Tunnel vision seems like a very real problem with how she plays. Maybe I'll snag her a couple of characters in just to bring her into older content and practice on something that's not a dummy.

Edit steam button layout for controller to enable turbo. That way you will just need to hold instead of mashing. I have no fricking idea why they thought mashing X for core gameplay loop of a character was a great idea.
With Turbo Charlotta is peak comfy. Boss zooms around the screen? Y + X + Dodge loops into each other and makes you zoom along with them. Boss does something? Just press Y and parry it while still acting like an ape. Boss goes into overdrive and shits on the screen? Pop up your personal invincibility and continue being a gorilla.
Ferry is a top pick. She debuffs, buffs, heals, does damage.

Ferry and Eugen were already on my radar. I like Ferry's design and her skillset looked quite versatile. Eugen looked fun simply because I sometimes like to just sit back and shit out damage from range and I figured he'd be a safe bet for AI.

That is outstanding to hear. Looks like my best bet is to savescum my first pick and see if I can narrow it down after getting my hands on them for that short demo. I know I could just use more cards as they become available, but I'm also kinda wanting to wait until they'll start coming at higher levels to reduce at least one form of the grind.
If you're a shitter (like me), Baha versa is pretty unfair the first time you fight him.
Also remember to upgrade your shit. When I got to him I had only 15k hp and very low attack.
Both Versa and later Proto are combo of a knowledge check and dps check. Once you figure out how to act and have enough damage to pass dps check both fight are extremely easy.
For Versa in particular, I am doing that fight with a stout heart sigil which stops you from blocking and dodging and only moment I can die is the big spinny jumping section (which I die anyway because of autorevive and revive pots). Honestly, just stop unga bunga and observe what the boss does.
Having a lot of fun with Percival, not sure how good he is but throwing out all those heavy hitting attacks and following up with his charged normal is super satisfying.
i'm guessing at least a fullchain labor and link time labor, maybe stun him x times labor, if they are really nasty there will be a debuff labor or buff labor
it will be interesting if the blades mechanic is also in because then you will need dispel chars to constantly dispel his blade stacks and stop him from murdering everyone
i'm doing the desert stage and the trap with the sleeping miniboss and another miniboss hiding behind the sand was really cool.
this game's combat is definitely too floaty but there's a ton of good stuff in it and i'm really looking forward to future cygames titles

I'm planning to do Gran (dps with heal), Zeta (dps and I want Zeta), Rackam (range) and Io (range and support) when I get the game as my first party, nice to see it's possible to clear end game with AI since I heard they're not bad, can dodge pretty well and they tend to heal and revive you as a priority. Would eventually want to try everyone one day
stun power is a meme, it's not hard to get link attacks at all. just use the crit weapon. you'll want to forge and upgrade all weapons in the end anyway because each weapon has masteries as you level them up that you can spend points on to unlock permanent stat boosts

You're right, but that doesn't change the fact that Benediction is a waste of time. Blue pots are plenty of healing if anybody doesn't run LotL, and the defense buff isn't necessary to avoid oneshots thanks to the permanent pet ATK debuff. I can only see it being helpful if people are running Tyranny without Aegis on a termi weapona and also not running LotL, which seems unlikely since they should know that will get them killed.
That or they're moronic and there's no saving them to begin with.

you can use skill -> y finisher for more meter. in general if a character has a finisher, they can shortcut to it with skills
My build's a bit weirder than most because I have Never Enough instead of Slow but it seems to go like this: >Pack Ragnarok Form, don't touch it yet >Pop your other skills >Spam X until Combo Finisher, then use the Y Sword Flurry >Do until Dragon >Pop cooldowns, starting with the one that slows the boss >Mash X or Y for their full combos depending on where the boss is >Link Attacks also give a God pip >Godworth acts as a damage cap increase so don't immediately go into Mashing Y to try and maximize damage >Near the end of the gauge do the big Y combo, and just as you finish pop Ragnarok to refill the gauge back to full
Also don't be afraid to guard, Id doesn't have super good approach tools so being close to the boss is never a bad thing. There's a reason his personal Sigil includes Stout Body
It depends on the boss and situation, however you want to spend most of your time in Dragonform or God mode, as both do more DPS than base form and both get stoutheart (and can use the sigil that gives extra defense with it on). God mode gets more damage cap with his unique sigil.
Against Proto, his laser is genuinely one of the hardest hitting skills in the game and can easily do 5-6% of his health in one blast if you aim it right. If you're on proud, don't bother with his slow skill because enemies get out of slow so fast that you're just losing damage by using the long ass skill. Instead use ragnarok for double god mode.
If you have a long time to DPS, you generally want to go: Skill -> Combo Finisher -> Skill -> Combo Finisher -> Skill -> Combo Finisher, which will also easily put you into dragon form. If you don't have much time, then dump all your damage skills into combo finisher. In God Mode you basically want to do the same, except you can do his final, huge damage combo twice by spamming ragnarok form immediately after doing the final big explosion hit. If you can stay in that form for a while for the extra damage cap it is nice, but nothing wrong with just blowing both combos in a row for huge burst damage. When you don't have skills up, just y + y spam is generally the best. While in dragon form make sure to use skills to cancel out the ending lag of your melee combo, and the ranged combo is actually nice when bosses are jumping around.
If you're not on proud then the slow is actually strong, it is just proud where it falls off massively. I recommend using his Fireball, Scourge, Unbound, and Ragnarok Form. Fireball does great damage and has a short CD and is ranged, Scourge is fast and does good damage, and Unbound is slower, but has some range, can double hit in melee, and does a large amount of stun/break for breaking parts and getting more link attacks.

I honestly hate the slow skills. They only last for like 2 seconds and have a super long cooldown making them worthless to take. Maybe if cascade actually worked I could see myself using them but it's the worst debuff in the game due to the long cd.
It depends on difficulty level. At lower levels slow is blatantly overpowered and basically nullifies a boss. On higher difficulties the cast animation is longer than the slow.
Danchou Arts IV slow is actually pretty long, the main benefits of slow is extending the DPS train and giving more leeway for players to extend it further via SBS or link
Ferry's is nice because, while it does take a second for the projectile to land and trigger, you can dodge cancel it and be on the offense again from the moment you press the skill.

I loved how strong and evil looking Id was at the start. Then they kind of ruined him as the story progressed. They should have made it into an NTR subplot plot to enrage the autists where Id would constantly tell Gran that he wasn't strong enough to protect her and he's not worthy with his confident defiant gaze.
What? That was about actually being able to use a weapon. The villains either had a oneitis or were the brother of the love interest. How was there any NTR?
It's not that it was real NTR, it was setup to be an NTR plot with the main heroine being taken away by a stronger man. The japanese write this stuff specifically because it triggers similar emotions from real NTR and they know exactly what they are doing.
I don't find it that hard personally but Gallanza has a lot of long reaching attacks that come out of nowhere that catch a lot of people. It's a fight where you have to play defensively but most people are too focused on gorilla dps rotations so they get absolutely clobbered. I actually spend a lot time just queing up for that mission to help people get through it. It's probably my favorite fight in the game due to how much offensive pressure both bosses throw at the players.
Always Gallanza first. I've never had a group where Maglielle was targeted first, I'm not sure how the fight would play out. I guess technically if you want to build for the fight with friends you have one guy with a lot of provoke to keep Gallanza occupied in a corner while the other 3 kill Maglielle but I think even Maglielle may target the provoke tank. It's not something I care to test but that might be the easiest way to kill Maglielle first if you wanted to start picking the game apart.
Just to let you know, people have found a way to frick up your saves by just joining a session with you
If you get a perma black sceen loading into Proto, it's over
Terminus weapons have next to no HP so the +1k is actually quite impactful

Sort of, you can stand waaaaay back and keep blasting spells for massive damage, occasionally dodging the AoE. I play her as a break from Charlotta for the sake of my finger.
io gets a quickcast proc every time she gains an orb, which makes stargaze charge faster. never do a stargaze without a quickcast proc
things that gives orbs:
link attack
charged light attack
freeze
fire
fightning
gravity well
mystic vortex (gives 3)
you consume every quickcast proc with a stargaze 2 (green charge bar), unless you would get 3 orbs, then cast stargaze 5 instead (pink charge bar). this is because you don't want to waste quickcast procs and stargaze 2 does not use any orbs
so a typical burst would be something like:
fire -> stargaze 2 -> flowery seven (uncharged) -> ice -> stargaze 2 -> link attack/charged light -> stargaze 5 -> vortex -> stargaze 5
io has masteries that extend how long you can hold a stargaze charge. with max masteries, you can do the following:
-sprint while holding a stargaze charge. this can be done by dodging out of stargaze, sprinting, then holding stargaze again before it runs out and immediately dodge cancel it and sprint again
-gain orbs while mid stargaze charge. dodge out of stargaze, immediately cast fire/ice and hold stargaze again. you can also perform link attacks while holding stargaze no problem to get an orb
flowery seven has the same damage cap whether you charge it or not, charging only increases its damage multiplier. therefore you should build enough atk to cap it without charging and just tap it
stargaze also resolves as soon as you let go of the button, so you should cancel the extremely slow recovery/attack animation immediately after letting go. if you have a skill, you can skill cancel it. if you have no skills to cancel the recovery of stargaze, immediately dodge cancel after letting go
stargaze is a circle aoe that takes a while to actually hit where you aim it. try not to get into the habit of getting too greedy. if you think the boss is going to jump/fly away, landing a stargaze 3 or 4 is much preferable to completely whiffing a stargaze 5, wasting all your orbs and charge for nothing and embarrassing yourself

Just beat proto baha for first time (got rose's terminus weapon, yuck). Went in blind not knowing the mechanics and goofed a few times. Quick question though: when using SBAs are you supposed to split them in two? (2 first, then 2 after?)
I can't do it yet, I don't have Eugen or Rackam in a good place PWR wise due to trying to rush to the end of the story and save Rolan[spoiler] so I think I'll just focus on unlocking Proud Mode and then just sit on the resource pool, then when I can AFK I'll just get all my resources back
500 curio from the hard goblin boss and not a single war elemental drop. There might be some merit to curio contents being determined by the difficulty they dropped from.
reginleiv, armor break, rest are up to you. phalanx is funny to honor scum and it can protect people during mechanics but it has a limited range, arrow rain is good for atk down, decimate is your hardest hitter (although to be honest it's not that strong). there might be chain burst strats with the redistribution skill but i wouldn't know. veil is great vs ice dragon

Exactly, so anything higher than 0% is better than 0%. Once you're capped on damage and damage cap, that's the only way you're going to increase your damage after all. So even the IV ones are super valuable.

I find quick charge to be worth it because his combo is slow like molasses. So either you rely on 4 damage skills and don't bring any buffs or you'll have down time. With quick charge you can easily charge Schlacht even without a combo finisher or a skill.
I'm on the last story chapter. One of my main critiques is that they did not spend an even amount of time on each characters movesets. Some characters get a lot of animations, attack strings, and mechanics, while others have tiny movesets. I don't know if they just assumed that nobody would play certain characters but they really should've spent more time making sure every character is very fleshed out. It's still fun though but they really should give some characters new moves in updates.
What is in the final mastery skill tree unlock? The one you get for unlocking hard quest difficulty. Is it just more basic passives or does anybody get anything interesting?

You're going to want to max out the mastery of the characters you're using anyway, all those small bonuses end up greatly, and every character gets unique upgrades too.

You can get carried all the way through proud easily. Narmaya is still the most common for me to see constantly dying. Her and Siegfried are the most 2 common shiiters from what I've noticed in proud matches.

My favorite combos is to take phanlax and the attack debuffs. You basically get nearly 100% damage reduction and you can face tank through any attack if you have stout heart. It works for the entire party too if they are close enough to get the phanlax buff.

I generally take the time to learn how characters play and whatnot in games like these and fighting games, so I'm not truly worried about being an absolute shitter. What I am worried about is people getting so used to characters X and Y being controlled by shitters that they quit out of quests whenever they see one. And while I like Narm's play style, I don't think it'll be a good fit for me when I'm still learning the fights. Tunnel vision seems like a very real problem with how she plays. Maybe I'll snag her a couple of characters in just to bring her into older content and practice on something that's not a dummy.

Edit steam button layout for controller to enable turbo. That way you will just need to hold instead of mashing. I have no fricking idea why they thought mashing X for core gameplay loop of a character was a great idea.
With Turbo Charlotta is peak comfy. Boss zooms around the screen? Y + X + Dodge loops into each other and makes you zoom along with them. Boss does something? Just press Y and parry it while still acting like an ape. Boss goes into overdrive and shits on the screen? Pop up your personal invincibility and continue being a gorilla.
I'd definitely do that, but I'm a sucker on PS5.
Ferry and Eugen were already on my radar. I like Ferry's design and her skillset looked quite versatile. Eugen looked fun simply because I sometimes like to just sit back and shit out damage from range and I figured he'd be a safe bet for AI.
That is outstanding to hear. Looks like my best bet is to savescum my first pick and see if I can narrow it down after getting my hands on them for that short demo. I know I could just use more cards as they become available, but I'm also kinda wanting to wait until they'll start coming at higher levels to reduce at least one form of the grind.
Someone posted in here that savescumming fricked up his save when it came to hiring crew, can't verify though since I enjoyed my pick first try.

If you're a shitter (like me), Baha versa is pretty unfair the first time you fight him.
Also remember to upgrade your shit. When I got to him I had only 15k hp and very low attack.
Both Versa and later Proto are combo of a knowledge check and dps check. Once you figure out how to act and have enough damage to pass dps check both fight are extremely easy.
For Versa in particular, I am doing that fight with a stout heart sigil which stops you from blocking and dodging and only moment I can die is the big spinny jumping section (which I die anyway because of autorevive and revive pots). Honestly, just stop unga bunga and observe what the boss does.

stun power is a meme, it's not hard to get link attacks at all. just use the crit weapon. you'll want to forge and upgrade all weapons in the end anyway because each weapon has masteries as you level them up that you can spend points on to unlock permanent stat boosts

You're right, but that doesn't change the fact that Benediction is a waste of time. Blue pots are plenty of healing if anybody doesn't run LotL, and the defense buff isn't necessary to avoid oneshots thanks to the permanent pet ATK debuff. I can only see it being helpful if people are running Tyranny without Aegis on a termi weapona and also not running LotL, which seems unlikely since they should know that will get them killed.

you can use skill -> y finisher for more meter. in general if a character has a finisher, they can shortcut to it with skills
My build's a bit weirder than most because I have Never Enough instead of Slow but it seems to go like this:
>Pack Ragnarok Form, don't touch it yet
>Pop your other skills
>Spam X until Combo Finisher, then use the Y Sword Flurry
>Do until Dragon
>Pop cooldowns, starting with the one that slows the boss
>Mash X or Y for their full combos depending on where the boss is
>Link Attacks also give a God pip
>Godworth acts as a damage cap increase so don't immediately go into Mashing Y to try and maximize damage
>Near the end of the gauge do the big Y combo, and just as you finish pop Ragnarok to refill the gauge back to full
Also don't be afraid to guard, Id doesn't have super good approach tools so being close to the boss is never a bad thing. There's a reason his personal Sigil includes Stout Body
It depends on the boss and situation, however you want to spend most of your time in Dragonform or God mode, as both do more DPS than base form and both get stoutheart (and can use the sigil that gives extra defense with it on). God mode gets more damage cap with his unique sigil.
Against Proto, his laser is genuinely one of the hardest hitting skills in the game and can easily do 5-6% of his health in one blast if you aim it right. If you're on proud, don't bother with his slow skill because enemies get out of slow so fast that you're just losing damage by using the long ass skill. Instead use ragnarok for double god mode.
If you have a long time to DPS, you generally want to go: Skill -> Combo Finisher -> Skill -> Combo Finisher -> Skill -> Combo Finisher, which will also easily put you into dragon form. If you don't have much time, then dump all your damage skills into combo finisher. In God Mode you basically want to do the same, except you can do his final, huge damage combo twice by spamming ragnarok form immediately after doing the final big explosion hit. If you can stay in that form for a while for the extra damage cap it is nice, but nothing wrong with just blowing both combos in a row for huge burst damage. When you don't have skills up, just y + y spam is generally the best. While in dragon form make sure to use skills to cancel out the ending lag of your melee combo, and the ranged combo is actually nice when bosses are jumping around.
If you're not on proud then the slow is actually strong, it is just proud where it falls off massively. I recommend using his Fireball, Scourge, Unbound, and Ragnarok Form. Fireball does great damage and has a short CD and is ranged, Scourge is fast and does good damage, and Unbound is slower, but has some range, can double hit in melee, and does a large amount of stun/break for breaking parts and getting more link attacks.

I honestly hate the slow skills. They only last for like 2 seconds and have a super long cooldown making them worthless to take. Maybe if cascade actually worked I could see myself using them but it's the worst debuff in the game due to the long cd.
It depends on difficulty level. At lower levels slow is blatantly overpowered and basically nullifies a boss. On higher difficulties the cast animation is longer than the slow.
Danchou Arts IV slow is actually pretty long, the main benefits of slow is extending the DPS train and giving more leeway for players to extend it further via SBS or link
Ferry's is nice because, while it does take a second for the projectile to land and trigger, you can dodge cancel it and be on the offense again from the moment you press the skill.

I don't find it that hard personally but Gallanza has a lot of long reaching attacks that come out of nowhere that catch a lot of people. It's a fight where you have to play defensively but most people are too focused on gorilla dps rotations so they get absolutely clobbered. I actually spend a lot time just queing up for that mission to help people get through it. It's probably my favorite fight in the game due to how much offensive pressure both bosses throw at the players.

Always Gallanza first. I've never had a group where Maglielle was targeted first, I'm not sure how the fight would play out. I guess technically if you want to build for the fight with friends you have one guy with a lot of provoke to keep Gallanza occupied in a corner while the other 3 kill Maglielle but I think even Maglielle may target the provoke tank. It's not something I care to test but that might be the easiest way to kill Maglielle first if you wanted to start picking the game apart.

io gets a quickcast proc every time she gains an orb, which makes stargaze charge faster. never do a stargaze without a quickcast proc

mystic vortex (gives 3)
you consume every quickcast proc with a stargaze 2 (green charge bar), unless you would get 3 orbs, then cast stargaze 5 instead (pink charge bar). this is because you don't want to waste quickcast procs and stargaze 2 does not use any orbs
so a typical burst would be something like:
fire -> stargaze 2 -> flowery seven (uncharged) -> ice -> stargaze 2 -> link attack/charged light -> stargaze 5 -> vortex -> stargaze 5
io has masteries that extend how long you can hold a stargaze charge. with max masteries, you can do the following:
-sprint while holding a stargaze charge. this can be done by dodging out of stargaze, sprinting, then holding stargaze again before it runs out and immediately dodge cancel it and sprint again
-gain orbs while mid stargaze charge. dodge out of stargaze, immediately cast fire/ice and hold stargaze again. you can also perform link attacks while holding stargaze no problem to get an orb
flowery seven has the same damage cap whether you charge it or not, charging only increases its damage multiplier. therefore you should build enough atk to cap it without charging and just tap it

stargaze also resolves as soon as you let go of the button, so you should cancel the extremely slow recovery/attack animation immediately after letting go. if you have a skill, you can skill cancel it. if you have no skills to cancel the recovery of stargaze, immediately dodge cancel after letting go
stargaze is a circle aoe that takes a while to actually hit where you aim it. try not to get into the habit of getting too greedy. if you think the boss is going to jump/fly away, landing a stargaze 3 or 4 is much preferable to completely whiffing a stargaze 5, wasting all your orbs and charge for nothing and embarrassing yourself
during link time, io has infinite orbs. your rotation in link time should be looping fire -> stargaze 5 over and over

reginleiv, armor break, rest are up to you. phalanx is funny to honor scum and it can protect people during mechanics but it has a limited range, arrow rain is good for atk down, decimate is your hardest hitter (although to be honest it's not that strong). there might be chain burst strats with the redistribution skill but i wouldn't know. veil is great vs ice dragon

Yes, skybound arts are mostly worthless. Stun power up is always useful too. The crit % may let you tweak some of your equipment around too.

I find quick charge to be worth it because his combo is slow like molasses. So either you rely on 4 damage skills and don't bring any buffs or you'll have down time. With quick charge you can easily charge Schlacht even without a combo finisher or a skill.

I'm on the last story chapter. One of my main critiques is that they did not spend an even amount of time on each characters movesets. Some characters get a lot of animations, attack strings, and mechanics, while others have tiny movesets. I don't know if they just assumed that nobody would play certain characters but they really should've spent more time making sure every character is very fleshed out. It's still fun though but they really should give some characters new moves in updates.
With a cast this big I'm not surprised the complexity varies a lot
