I understand the confusion, but "bad writing" can sometimes actually be perfectly accurate to real life. I know plenty of people who are unreasonable. I, myself, am an addict, so I have to pay attention to things like my moronic behavior and extreme thinking. "Everyone hates me" or "Everyone on Ganker believes..." kind of thinking is completely false and unreasonable, but I still do it sometimes. I have to catch myself and stop my brain from doing that.
I can definitely see someone being mentally damaged enough to be unreasonable and feel like they are working too hard, even though they volunteered to do something. That's pretty normal, actually. People sometimes do noble things, and regret it, because the reality of it sucks balls. I should have joined the military a decade ago, career-wise and also noble cause bonus, but I'm glad I didn't, at the same time, because I probably would have hated it.
