I liked the free beta but i liked it based on where i thought the game was headed
Looks okay, but I wouldn't say I'm impressed.
The character potraits look similar to CK1 potraits.
Can't be worse than paradox but that doesn't mean it will be good
Too boardgamey
>fantasy medieval sim gsg
YES
>board game bullshit
FRICK
I just want something to fill the CK2 niche with a fantasy setting. I think the lack of fantasy GSGs in general are a massive missed opportunity, too bad this one doesn't look too good
Did they eventually add in family trees?
There's not a single drop of magic so how's it fantasy in any way?
>There's not a single drop of magic so how's it fantasy in any way?
>what is low fantasy
>low fantasy
Still has magic and/or fantasy races. May not be overt spells but by definition, there are absolutely fantastical elements. This has none of those.
i dont see any board game bullshit
maybe the combat
the battle shit alone is more than enough to turn me off. the diplomacy (?) thing also looks whack. The whole thing looks very mapgame-ie in a bad way
I want a classical/medieval/early modern spreadsheet sim like Aurora, why is every single game super abstract? Where are the simulationist games?
I've been looking for something just like you have described anon. Sadly, I don't think anyone has fulfilled that niche yet. But if you find something please do tell
>that map grid
Nope.
Im having fun with it tbh, much better than nu-paradox slop but I agree with the other anon that the diplo mini game is annoying and the game should have been more simulationy
Was in one of the betas last year, and it was ROUGH. What they were trying to accomplish with the economic/trade simulation was interesting, but as implemented was horribly janky. And the diplomatic/character RP side of things was extremely barebones. Unless they've worked on it a ton I'm not even going to bother looking at this again until full release
Tried the demo. At the moment it feels too Settlers of Catan. Tracking resources "could" be interesting because it opens up diplomatic avenues, but I'm concerned that it's mostly going to be a waiting game while you have to manually jumpstart the economy of each fiefdom.
Just tried it out today for a couple of hours. Pretty good already, but definitely needs more menus and info on the screen. It's very hard to keep track of who everyone is, therefore difficult to plan ahead strategically. Finding eligible spouses is a real pain, for example. Should be great if they keep at it.
