Metroidvania is a shit genre that only old people like so unless its from an old series or is phenomenal game like hollow knight, no one wants to play that shit.
What is Namco's fricking problem with Nintendo systems? Tales always skips them. It's a long standing tradition too, besides Symphonia and the shitty DS games.
Smaller single player game with not a lot of marketing or hype, which is a shame because I watched some reviews and gameplay footage and it looks decent enough and I actually really like the black actor dude who's behind the project. In all his interviews and appearances about the game he seemed really passionate about it, and wanted to make something about processing grief because of his own experiences after his dad passed away. Like other anons have pointed out, it's a breath of fresh air compared to the usual white progressive apologists trying to force diversity just to prove a point.
Just goes to show though that in this day and age to really move numbers a game has to have a frick ton of marketing or word of mouth to get the momentum, and/or multiplayer components so people buy it so as to not miss out on playing with their friends.

This game was showcased at like every major event in the last year including a presentation at the Game Awards with the developer himself. People know about this game, they just don't care.
Ok maybe this is a hot take, but I don't think events like the Game Awards are actually that popular with normalgay gamers (i.e. the largest demographic where most of the money is). Like the only other person I know who watches stuff like the VGAs live is my friend who also browses Ganker. Most people will just watch trailers on Youtube instead after the fact. This game never broke out of the core gaming audience sphere of influence, like so many before it.
Black person that show breaks records of people watching every single year and beats oscars by far now. Shit ton of normies watch those events. No one cares about corny looking Black worship metroivania lol thats it really.
Am I misremembering or did they do a Steam Deck giveaway either last year or the year before? I feel like that kinda shit inflates the view count a lot.
It's not. In fact, I'd bet that indie world or the new i3 (fricking kek name) indie expo thing are better advertisers for these kinds of games. The vast majority of people are looking for big name game reveals or GOTY. That's it. Frick, some of them probably even pay more attention to the wacky commercials/ads that Geoff likes to fart out. Indie game announcements are the same tier as a "recap segment" or "interview segment" i.e. it's "mute the stream and frick around on a different tab" time.

You guys are forgetting that event was 5 months ago so most aren't going to remember what games were actually showcased unless there's a constant reinforcement of their existence. The problem is some developers/publishers will only rely on these big events as advertising campaigns and it doesn't fricking work like that if they don't put in the effort to advertise the game outside of them like making a direct/showcase, giving ign or channels demos for preview material, and/or buying ads on YouTube when the release date is near. I know this developer was probably tooting his own horn for the gane but EA much like other publishers are really dogshit when it comes to advertising their games especially for smaller games.

its made by ea anon
newsposters need to die
It looks like an ok 2D platformer that got completely ruined by slapping some vaguely african artstyle on top
at least a black actually made it instead of white guilt cuckolds
This. And instead of trying to shoehorn africa into other settings they made a game about africa.
And it shows everybody that no one gives a single shit. I bet a bunch of SJWs were panning this game on twitter only to never touch it ever lol.
>panning
panning has negative connotations

>opening video on the store page is live action about some we wuz Black person with no game in sight
lmao
Why arent brown or black people bying it?
Its marketed towards them and Im sure they would love it.
>browns come from africa
American education
Frick you nazi racist chud!!! This game is ultra super duper amazing, cope more!
i hate when blacks pretend to be british
Kinda feel bad for this game since the guy made it to remember his dad.
Oh yeah I remember seeing this advertised at the VGA.
>a zesty homie in the cover
lol
Who could have imagined it would be a disaster?
When will blacks learn they have to make games about whites?
i'd be very excited if 250 people played my game, congrats devs!

This game was shilled fricking hard anon.
By industry people to other industry people at industry events. It needed some kind of shill strategy to normies which it never got.

I was legitimately interested in this until I learned SBI worked on it.
Anon was right; Hideo Baba claimed another victim
God damn RIP the Tales series
