Something that is already great should by default be great when remade/remastered, it's a sad state of affairs when most remasters frick up so badly so often. This remake still hasn't justified its existence with how it screws up the artstyle and downgraded 30fps compared to the original. Should have just ported the original game but for some reason Nintendo have decided that Gamecube games are forbidden from the Switch's emulation service.
Games gonna sell like hot cakes and get high praise. We won! Anyone who calls themselves a PM fan and isn't excited should end themselves imo. You've got life problems no video game can fix.
I would be except Nintendo pulled all their IP from garrysmod workshop, so I don't really feel like buying anything from them right now.
I might play the gamecube version again instead or pirate it.
Did anyone else get the impression that they're playing this up like an entirely new release from the Overview Trailer? The fact that it was a remake didn't come up once.
>Did anyone else get the impression that they're playing this up like an entirely new release
Of course they would be, pretending it's a new game is way better marketing than saying it's the same 20 years old game.
I call it the Wii U effect but it applies to any console or any game that got buried in terms of popularity or awareness in past generations and is getting exposure to a new audience who doesn't even know the original existed.
So, for instance, most Wii U titles are like this but also SMRPG was sort of marketed as a new-ish game.
Consider that the Game Cube was Nintendo's biggest hardware flop before the Wii U, it was a catastrophically bad commercial failure that got Nintendo to abandon chasing 3rd party support.
So, naturally, the best RPG on that console (not that there were that many) is going to basically be a new game to 90% of Switch owners who never played it. For Nintendo, that means they can market it like a new game the same way MK8 was basically a new game for most people
>it was a catastrophically bad commercial failure
Why does Ganker keep pushing this idea that gamecube was a "flop" or "catastrophic failure" just because it didn't sell 100 gorillion units?
It didn't fail; that entire console generation just got overshadowed by the PS2.
It was a failure on two fronts
First, Nintendo made the Game Cube to try to win back third party devs. That's why they went with discs instead of cartridges (albeit mini discs) and that's why they signed a couple of third party exclusivity deals like with Capcom for RE4. IT failed to bring third party devs over in a meaningful way, so it flopped on that front
It also represents a further decline from the N64, which itself was MAJOR a decline from the SNES. N64 sold 33 million units, Game Cube sold 22 million, literally 33% less. It also sold less software but at a better attach rate than the N64.
IT failed given the precedence set by Nintendo's prior hardware and the increasing dominance of Playstation as the de-facto game console (a role Nintendo had held prior to Sony's entrance into the console market)
The PS2 made frick you money and it made Nintendo drop the graphics race by duct taping two game cubes and making the Wii, changing their focus to gimmicks (forced motion controls in every game) and casual players.
The original came out 20 years ago and IIRC wasn't a huge seller (not that much on Cube was). For a lot of people it is a new release, more than Advance Wars or Luigi's Mansion 2 or other remakes they've done.
Nintendo pulls this shit all the time. They constantly try to pass off ports as new releases. And unfortunately it works because Switch owners are easily pleased morons. Nintendo has very little incentive to make new games nowadays when they can just repackage old ones at full price and get high sales and praise. Even their "new" games like TotK are highly derivative.
That’s just how the GameCube is. Look at the fans of Smash Bros Melee, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, and Metroid Prime as well. They’re unhinged, unwashed, and unfrickable the lot of them. They defend the ShitCube to their deaths despite it being an abject failure of a console with its big releases being flops and it almost bankrupted Nintendo.

Wojak was made by Euros on this site, but its origin is being Troll Face. You can tell by the lines and the original names being “Coolface” and “Warmface”
Not an argument.
All of those games are objectively good, which youve yet to disprove, just doing what low IQs do and resort to ad hominem
Same with Wii U, best games of any given series on that one, until ported to switch kek
Super Smash Bros. Melee, Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX are amount the best of their genres though. That was from the fraction of a time where Nintendo actually tried to make their games peak.
I'd agree with the others though, as they represent the worst of their series (Sunshine, Zelda, etc). GC babbies are indeed cancer but there were absolutely a few gems. And that word "babby" is key, given that older GC owners generally had good taste (especially if they owned other consoles like PS2), but the children who only owned a GC have no idea what a good library is or what good entries in those series were. These are the same people that think games like Pikmin, and Sunshine are top tier games other than just curiosities lol.
the easy to draw variations of the regular mario enemies makes it easy to make OCs attracting the same kind kind of autists that sonic attracts.
the game game is pretty good in my opinion but the fandom is sonic lite
It has the undertale/mother/tumblr gamer roots. Low mechanical skill games fail to gatekeep a certain breed of gamer. The real culprit is super paper mario but the trajectory is set here.
Because, unlike most other console generations, Gamecubegays are so starved for rereleases/fanservice that they become even more dogmatically attached to their specific brand of nostalgia
so. any word yet?
Not yet, although Hooktail's disliked thing is frogs as opposed to crickets like in the US version. This seems to suggest that some things are being retranslated to match the original Japanese version more closely, as was the case with SMRPG. Time will tell if this extends to Vivian being a boy, especially considering there appear to be script changes in the Japanese version as well, but there's hope
>Gamecubegays are so starved for rereleases/fanservice that they become even more dogmatically attached to their specific brand of nostalgia
Nah gamecube games are just better
Melee > Ult
WindWaker/TP > BoTW/ToTK
F Zero GX > Mario Kart
Metroid Prime > Dread
list goes on
really that simple
only franchise newer platforms have a leg up on is mario
>Melee > Ult
Only thing Melee has over Ultimate is a better single player modes, namely Break the Targets and Adventure Mode >WindWaker/TP > BoTW/ToTK
Wind Waker is better than BotW and TotK, but Twilight Princess sucks balls outside of Midna >F Zero GX > Mario Kart
Perhaps, but Mario Kart still gets games that sells copies >Metroid Prime > Dread
Both are great, in terms of gameplay they're not comparable
This whole "cubies" thing is incredibly forced. A lot of GC games were interesting and some anons like some of them. That's about it. You don't see this kind of insane cope for any other game/series.
I never said the games were bad, just that their lack of presence in nostalgia pandering has made them more dogmatic
It's all but confirmed Vivian will be troon now
It's over...
That's consistent with the Japanese version. They're called the "Shadow Trio" as opposed to the "Shadow Sirens" since Vivian is a boy. Not gonna lie, this is giving me hope
>Only thing Melee has over Ultimate is a better single player modes
and overall gameplay but I forgot that the only thing modern smashhomosexuals care about is roster speculation and don't really care if fighting obnoxious gimmicks like steve brings down the experience for everyone

>This seems to suggest that some things are being retranslated to match the original Japanese version more closely, as was the case with SMRPG.
That was almost the bare minimum of what to retranslate, though. It's almost like they too saw Tomato's popular "pop culture" and "Culex" articles that everyone else saw, focused 90% of translation resources on that, put 9.9% of it on new content, and allocated the remaining 0.1% on the main game.
A lot of characters seem to get new themes as well like Koops and the Cursed Chests and they really Mario Kart 8'd the soundtrack with a lot of themes getting extensions too. The soundtrack is by far the part I'm looking most forward to. And there's even the Nostalgic Tunes badge for the purists
you're deluded if you think this will sell 5 million. SMRPG sold 3 million and that has way more appeal and is actually better than gay paper mario trash
Yes, and SMRP outsold the original by January. TTYD is looking to get higher reviews than SMRPG too. Easy 5 million+ lifetime time sales. You're clearly not a classic PM fan by your mindless bantering and childish antics.
I never cared about Paper Mario in general deluded gay. Mario and Luigi was always the better series and the better successor to SMRPG. Even then, the original Paper Mario game was better than the overrated TTYD. No wonder you get triggered when people shit on it for being a downgrade compared to the original game. Why the frick do you care about what subhuman reviewers would think. It won't outsell SMRPG deluded gamecube Black person

You're clearly a narcissist and mad that people prefer Paper Mario and in particularly the Thousand Year Door over shit you like. Grownthe frick up. I can tell by the way you type that no one in your life for respects you.
I'm now much more convinced seeing the actual game. All the added sound effects, expressions, battle theme variations add a lot.
On the flipside, it's now 100% confirmed that the game itself is totally unchanged. The only thing I noticed were some minor script differences. The Sewer Goombas don't hit on Goombella for example.
>DADDY NINTENDO IS BRINGING BACK MY SHITTY CHILDHOOD GAME! THEY ARE BASED, EVEN IF THEY RUINED THE FUTURE ENTRIES! STOP CRITICIZING THE GAME AND NINTENDO! STOP

The worst part is that this remake is 30fps. If they were going to remake a Paper Mario game they should have gone with the original since that one is also 30fps
>"world layout" is level design >not the layout of the levels themselves
Yeah let's ignore the puzzles, the "minor" buildings" and the optional content
And the battle system is so much better in TTYD it's impossible to go back to 64 after playing it
And let's not talk about Color Splash or TOK because they have the same exact world layout as TTYD except for 2 levels in each game
You're not replying to a real person you know
There's nobody to convince
You cannot reasonably argue someone out of a position that they got into without reason but just unchecked moronation

>everything has less hp than enemies did by chapter 4 in 64 >64gay making shit up
All Shy Guys aside from Anti Guy have 7 hp and 0 defense. In chapter 4 of TTYD, Hyper Goombas have 8 for each variation, Hyper Clefts have 4 hp and 3 defense. Crazee Dayzees have 7 hp, same with Boos. Swoopers have 6, and both types of Buzzy Beetles have 5 hp and 4 defense. Not only are there enemies with more hp than Shy Guys but there's also more stat variation requiring stronger attacks. >nothing to use it on >what is the pit
Im not autistic enough to remember the exact chapter, but I remember enemies going up to 12 HP and TTYD never got around to that, nor "challenging" enemies like hyper goombas. >What is the pit
an autism "run" challenge where 2k sub youtubers go through to torture themselves, I assure you 5% of TTYD players actually went there. Not main game content. TTYD just added too much without biting back, like why can I use partners as meat shields. 64s knockout system was more balanced
You're right about late game enemies (not chapter 4, but around 6 or so) not having enough HP in TTYD compared to 64. You're completely wrong about the pit, everyone did it. It's not mandatory but it's obviously important.

TTYD is indubitably just way too fricking easy, because it's a kid's game. The combat/badge system is actually pretty nice and fun, but it all becomes meaningless when your grandma could stomp everything without looking.

NTA but giving enemies more HP would be better than just making you at the brink of death all the time
>I assure you 5% of TTYD players actually went there
The Pit isn’t really that difficult if you approach it before the final chapter. I’m relatively casual in my play style, and I had a lot of fun. Cleared it in a single, blind run even.
There's a side quest that asks you to go to floor 18 of the pit, and the inventory upgrade is on floor 50. There's also a post game side quest to reach floor 50. People absolutely go to it at least once.
When people say "TTYDs backtracking isn't bad", they always forget its stretching out ridiculously threadbare chapters. It's bad because they're making you walk up and down the same tiny hallways. This was a problem in general with Nintendo games during the gamecube era. Every game had some sort of shitty gimmick to pad out gametime.
Triforce hunt in WW
Blue coins in Mario Sunshine
Artifact Hunt in Metroid Prime
Both WW and Sunshine were obviously rushed and needed more development time but Nintendo were desperate because the gamecube was getting raped the the PS2 and they were released too soon.
The problem is that the backtracking is padding out what are very small chapters. If you removed it chapters that would last about 30min on average.
You're often sent back and forth the almost the full length of the chapters outdoor area you've already cleared out (barring respawning enemies) just to move the plot along one notch in every chapter.
In chapters 2, 4, 5, and 6 you're running back and forth between the same few points over and over until any dungeon. In chapter 7 you're forced to return to a bunch of previous chapters to locate an npc who tells you to look somewhere else for General White. If this remake can fix some of these backtracking issues then it will be the definitive way to play the game >muh 60fps
It's a fricking turn based JRPG
Based. Another downgrade is enemy variety. In 64 you are encountering new enemy species every chapter and not a small amount of them. Toybox? There are tons of new shy guys, jungle? Several new kinds of deadly plants all disguised. Ice? Weird like blubber creatures and duplighosts. Also every boss both secret and mandatory is entirely unique. This adds to the level design to make a richer more enjoyable world and it also means you have a lot more timing to master because you can’t as easily translate the defensive action command timing.
In comparison in TTYD by Ch5 you have seen every enemy type in the game, except the wizards they add in the shadow palace. TTYD is so heavy on the recolors and I could overlook that if they at least had unique bosses. Instead you have 3 recolors of Hooktail, two recolors of the magnus von grapple, and you also fight the sirens, doopliss, and crump multiple times to with very little variation in their movesets. This increases a subconscious repetition to an already repetitive feeling game. Replacing interesting side bosses with a gauntlet where you just battle stuff ad nauseum adds to the burn out feel. The only boss 64 reuses is Jr. troopa but I can overlook one boss especially as him growing more powerful over time makes him increasingly interesting as a fight.
I really liked TOK and ultimately didn't hate CS, sue me and I'm excited as frick for this. Even if you enjoy the newer games acting like they wouldn't have been massively improved with entirely original characters, more cohesive battle systems, and more freedom in narrative is just pure bootlicking.
That game is broken in half even easier than TTYD was. When I discovered Weak Stomach+Turn Relay+Kabu/Vi strats halfway through the game it stopped being engaging.
I'd imagine with it being an actual remake like this, on the Switch, and all marketing that comes with that, more people will be playing this for the first time than people replaying it again.
>this remake of a game with extremely simple visuals that didn't at all need to be remade and isn't adding anything new is a good thing ackshually >now go pay full price for a slightly newer coat of paint for it like a good little goy
Journos sucking bags of wiener as usual.
Fans of Mario RPGs? They are different beasts. SMRPG is its own thing and it’s amazing. Mario and Luigi, a separate series is also great. Now, Paper Mario, that shit is awful.
NoA is hiding Vivian and got rid of the bunny Boo girl in the parlor (only the cat one behind the counter is shown) so we’ll see what else NoT (Nintendo Of Twitter) put their greasy mits on.
I keep saying it, but I really wish we could do something to get NoJ to shitcan the American localizers that keep pissing all over their games, especially Treehouse
>NoA is hiding Vivian and got rid of the bunny Boo girl in the parlor (only the cat one behind the counter is shown) so we’ll see what else NoT (Nintendo Of Twitter) put their greasy mits on.
The boo was a cat in the original english version. This actually increases the odds that vivian is still a girl in English.
Rewatched the overview trailer in English and while the dub dude is kind of insufferable, at least he's not speaking moon.
You unlock concept art the more Star Pieces and Shine Sprites you find, and it seems like the music of the Rogueport Sewers will change depending on what sublevel you're on now.
I'm not going to say it's worth 60 dollars but I really appreciate the shittons of new animations they added, that alone adds so much charm to these characters
>people discussing upcoming game >shitposters can't handle people discussing discussing video games on the video games board so they enter the thread to fling shit >get told to frick off >WHOA WHY ARE GAMECUBE gayS SO INSECURE?!
You morons are hilarious
Treehouse has confirmed that the backtracking in the second half of the game has been "addressed".
Additionally, a reviewer has confirmed that it runs at 30 FPS in handheld mode, but "closer to 60 FPS" on docked. From which you can surmise that you'll probably be able to play it in 60 FPS on emulator without issue as game logic doesn't seem tied to the frames.
VERDICT: Very based.
you paper autists are so embarrassing that you try to act like you're this paragon of quality and respect on terms of fricking paper puns. It's a aspect of interest that paper mario has going for it, who cares if they use it for marketing. You are all an ultra autistic bunch of morons.
Black person do not act like some cute marketing is the same as the tonal shift the games themselves took.
Find a piece of dialogue anywhere near as corny as this shit in the first two if you want to prove me wrong. (They thought so much of this that they unveiled the fricking game with this scene btw)
You're absolutely right and dishonest Black folk will try to deny it when it's clear as day. Sure, we can ignore the marketing and trailers and puns. It's possible. But it shows the issue with modern Paper Mario design. They think the appeal is Paper when it never was and it wasn't pushed as heavily as it is now. And even when you ignore the marketing, it's still a lot more present in the visuals.
Of course it is >take a classic game everyone already loved >make it better with actual QoL improvements, by listing all of the small gripes and revisiting them, such as party member swapping now being 100x faster with no menuing.
When you actually make a proper remake like this, it can only improve the game
Also >game includes old Gamecube version SFX and music if you want.
I just can't justify buying this if I already played the original. This seems to be something for people who never touched TTYD. And I mean good for them, but unless there are new areas, new challenge modes, and they remove the broken crap like Danger Mario, I'm gonna pass. I hate when you can trivialize a game.
Currently playing Paper Mario: Master quest right now, and I praise the dev for giving bosses special counters to stop danger Mario.
it looks like the only new content they added is sound and art gallerys, I think the pianta parlor has some new minigames but to be honest i never messed around there in the original
sound gallerys used to be the standard in games, I think nintendo is one of the last companies attempting to make video games fun but they've been so lazy the past decade or so it's sad
Various reviewers have subtly hinted that there is some amount of new content although likely only postgame.
He makes the game too easy, and it's not enough for me to avoid using him (which I do) but I don't want anyone else using him. You should play the game the right way.
Caring about how other people play single player games is a recipe for a miserable life and you should stamp that attitude out asap. There is no bigger waste of time or energy in the whole universe.
Super paper mario was actually really good, was very well written and is probably one of the best plots / stories any mario spin off has had, with good characters and mechanics, (You) just didnt like it as it was less like 64/TTYD and was more inline with typical mario games, but that never meant it was bad.
TTYD > SPM > > > > > > > > > > 64
Hell no. I like SPM but the gameplay is kinda ass. The platforming feels like a bootleg version of regular 2D Mario's platforming and your only stats being HP and attack power with no way of choosing which one to level up sucks.
eh. Who cares. All you did with BP in the other games is slot in the same badges for more damage every time. SPM makes more use of items and such, which ends up being a different route to the same outcome.
Same general argument against BP gays, only pick BP because you can slot in HP/FP as needed, and 1 BP gives 3 points which is enough for 1HP/FP badge... okay, but then you permanently keep HP and FP badges slotted in the whole game because beating it on 5HP is impossible, literally just wasting your time and coins on getting HP badges you never needed.
Bad argument.
In paper mario you literally always do the same thing anyway, bop things on the head with whatever limited attack type works.
SPM is more focused on using items right, which end up being the same sort of thing. Youre the one who claimed the combat is worse, but in practice, its the same thing.
SPM needed the remake as it stands to be the one to benefit most from changes and updates, TTYD remake is almost 1:1 which makes it pointless.

>eh who cares about customization just give me the most streamlined experience possible replay value be damned
The issue isn't battles or platforming, it's every world being 2D shit
SPM was always the game that needed to be remade in the old school style so that it could reach its true pinnacle instead of a 1-to-1 TTYD remake.
Alas, here we are. At least they'll fix Mowz so she's fricking usable in this one, hopefully.
>Super paper mario was actually really good,
Play more games. Jesus.
It was a garbage platformer with gameplay on par with the shittiest of flash games.
>new postgame content (probably) >warp pipes completely reworked, backtracking addressed >every chapter has its own battle theme >still have the option to play with the original soundtrack >difficulty left as is >pianta parlor essentially unchanged >more soul by virtue of the animal crossing style babbling, significantly more expressive characters >not 30 fps in docked mode >concept art from the original game
Yeah... I'm thinking GOTY.
The trailer you moronic homosexual
Literally shows you the old sfx badge right there, and a sound test menu
The new battle music is heard in the latest trailer, with multiple versions
As for the new postgame, thats from their ass
Between this the Mario RPG remake and the survey its pretty apparent the Mario RPGs are currently in a state where Nintendo doesnt know how to proceed.
SPM is 1000 times better than any of the stucker games. It's alos 1000 times worse than any paper mario game before it (or M+l game before it for that matter)
>apparently everyone knows hooktail is a girl now even though it was supposed to be a joke that nobody knew except for gloomtail and bonetail
i hate treehouse so much it's unreal
?si=Hv0QtIUWsD8uCo0z&t=979 >They added pre boss music like from SS-TOK
Love them or hate them, TTYD is benefitting so much from the talent of the newer games devs. I love that mario is prepped to attack now like in TOK when he fights. They are giving this game the much needed polish it needed. Hopefully the new battle music can distract from how terrible the backtracking and general white section is.
TTYD was already polished enough, adding a bunch of soundtracks where they don't quite belong, and adding louder sound effects to everyone talking is not a good addition. The only actual polish this is getting is the added sprites and animations, these are good but they weren't lacking in the original game.
Go turn on the shitty gamecube sfx badge and enjoy that garbage battle theme

Yes it's better. New theme has too much bullshit at once. All the new themes are trying to add stuff to soundtracks that weren't composed to have more.
You're probably so moronic you'll hate that they'll make a great theme that plays when you fight somethin at the shadow of palace. You really think this is what you should hear as a battle theme in the last area of a video game?

Actually no. You've managed to pick the one instance where I'll likely love the music change. It doesn't work if you make one battle theme for each chapter but this one definitely deserves one.

More battle themes != better soundtrack. Having a battle theme come up more often is a good thing to get you used to it and enjoy it. It's a routine. But even then I was comparing it on a soundtrack to soundtrack basis. I'm not entirely against the idea of one battle theme per chapter/area, although it depends how it's implemented, but the modified tracks are a downgrade. Just listen to those overworld tracks, dude.
Not him, but are (subjective) improvements to audio + visual presentation and the convenience fee worth sinking $60 into for someone who owns the original game and hardware? Yes, I know $60 isn’t a lot of money. But a lot of the original fans are old with families; I can think of much better ways to spend $60.
For me, this remake just feels like a continuation of the 20 year long betrayal. One (1) proper sequel across two decades isn’t a big ask, and I haven’t forgotten the multiple times we were told to frick off. A port of TTYD would have been enjoyed just as numerous other classics have been, probably more considering how accessible the gameplay is.
Yep, making this a remake was extremely unneeded and unless it translates into an actual fateful sequel (which it probably wont) then it's meaningless.
Ttyd always felt like it was lacking something, these new additions makes this the absolute definite version, it feels like it really belongs and makes the game.
It should've been 64
Not only is it the first game, it's also got a different style from the rest of the games. It makes the most sense. At the same time TTYD has a rabid vocal fanbase and Nintendo could sell GameCube games as their own Switch titles like they've been doing
>At the same time TTYD has a rabid vocal fanbase
It's funny you say that because you can't have a single thread about TTYD without a 64 loyalist crying about TTYD and the gamecube in general. Seek help.
>he's still in these threads pushing his moronic conspiracy theory
PM64 was my first game and I was probably born before you too. TTYD is linear backtracking mediocre dreck that's only above the likes of Sticker Star.
Okay but where in my own post did I mention the GameCube being shit, I'm saying they can't slap GameCube games onto a service like they can N64, whoever you're thinking of is not me
>64 loyalist
It's a Nu Paper Zoomer trying to provoke infighting among the old guard.
I like both games, I just think 64 had more of a reason to be remade first. It's the GameCube Rerelease Syndrome and possibly the vocal fans which made TTYD's remake happen
why would fans of the original even be excited? it's not like the graphics aged poorly, the game still exists and there's nothing to gain from a remake other than new fans being introduced and a way to spend money to say you like something
>why would fans of the original even be excited?
Because Nintendo has served us gimmick shit nobody asked for every since SPM in 2007 and people who liked the older style of games are understandably excited that Nintendo is market testing that format by revisiting it.
>but you Black folk just wanted more of the same
Of course I just wanted more of the same you turbo homosexual. I expect certain things from certain established franchises. If I wanted to play a boring mario platformer I have NSMB. Let the RPG franchise be a fricking RPG.
>Of course I just wanted more of the same you turbo homosexual
funny how even the third Mario & Luigi game was actually pretty different from the first two games and had a unique gameplay twist and it's still considered the best in the series yet you telling me having more of the same is fine
>b-but they changed le combat
SPM was a spinoff, not mainline unlike Sticker Troon, gay Splash of Origami Incel
>funny how even the third Mario & Luigi game was actually pretty different from the first two games and had a unique gameplay twist
Black person it did not overhaul the game. It's still the same core gameplay Superstar Saga went to create. The difference is now you get a new party member. It didn't take Mario and Luigi and didn't drastically alter the gameplay to a point it's hardly even the same genre.
This is cool too, but they should have made BOTH this, and an actual sequel
Nintendo has zero debt and many billions of dollars of straight up cash, they have all the capital they could possibly need to actually make games in their franchises, so it's annoying that they just squat on them and refuse to do anything with them
It doesn't matter who would make a sequel, Nintendo are always going to be the ones ponying up the capital for it, which they have absurd amounts of just laying dormant earning an almost negative interest rate return instead of paying devs to make games
they could just hire more people and develop it in house if they felt like it - their financial position is so good that they could be making 10x the amount of games they're making right now and they'd still have loads of cash left over

Intsys is not nintendo, they have their offices in a nintendo building and work almost only with nintendo but they are third party they also have to want to do paper mario game
Vivian’s somewhat worrisome. Perhaps, you can chalk it up to them wanting to keep his turn and becoming a partner a secret. Similarly, Mowz isn’t directly mentioned as a partner and she was kind of a secret bonus ally you had to go out of your way to find.
Perhaps they’re saving something for first-timers to be surprised by, but it could also be that some Localizer didn’t go with an accurate translation, or even the original English one, and instead decided to make the character a statement.
I can't help but NOOTICE how absent Vivian is in all the marketing for this. There's no way that's a coincidence.
You're overthinking it. They're treating this like a new release, not a remake, so they don't want to spoil everything. Vivian turning from an enemy into an ally is a major plot twist.
Backtracking whiners are babies
I liked revisiting all the locations before the final stretch of the game, it was neat
Seriously general white takes like 10 minutes it's not a big deal
Yeah, its called the "victory lap" trope, lots of RPGs have you go through the games towns again as a way to reflect, remember, reminisce on the journey, see how far you came, see how much you have improved, and it helps solidify the story in your head making the game more memorable in the long run.
People who b***h that, god forbid, around 20 minutes of this several dozen hour game are revisiting your adventure - are ADHDgays.
Personally I find it humbling to remember where I struggled, or who I helped before seeing them thrive now etc
And if you dont care, warp pipe and yoshi make it a non issue.

Yep, General White is a non issue, the level design being weaker is a bit worse

victory laps are better if you get some novel stuff out of it, things need to change a little bit from when you last saw it so that they feel like living, breathing places. It undermines the game somewhat if they're too static and it feels unreal during your victory lap

The issue is that it isn't just general white. You have to backtrack for general white, in the boggly woods, in twilight town, on the island and a ton when doing trouble quests. These pipes are gonna help mitigate a lot of that in a way that doesn't hurt the actual gameplay at all. I mean the pipes existed in the original game, this just makes them faster to use.
Why did they make Goombella's voice so yucky and squeaky? She talks 10x more often than every other character combined, they really really needed to make her "voice" pleasant if they were going to give her one... What a frickup
One change that is going overlooked here is how valuable the partner wheel is to speeding up the game. By making it easier to change partners it is now much more viable to use the Yoshi for his faster run to get around faster. It's going to be very easy to pop on Yoshi, run where you need to go then pop out whatever other partner you need. This should really help in both the island and twilight town chapters.
>One change that is going overlooked here is how valuable the partner wheel is to speeding up the game
This is the single handed best change in the game.
If I was autistic enough to time how much time was spent menuing swapping characters, im sure its well over 2 hours worth. Probably more if youre exploring and such, first time.
Such a pace breaker.
Literally just play the original. It's free, the visuals are better and more consistent with the comic book style, old soundtrack and sound effects are better, there's no point in buying this remake other than making a statement to Nintendo.
>Literally just play the original. It's free
If your argument is that people should just play the original because it's free via emulation, surely your moronic brain can process the fact that the switch is also emulatable for free?
>GC Emulation is better than Switch emulation
This is such a lame copout. Switch emulation for most games works perfectly fine. You're such a stupid fricking homosexual, wasting all your life whining about games you don't even like.
? Worse emulation, possible bugs, with a game already capped at 30 FPS is a decent argument. But all of my other points are solid and you can disregard this one if you want.

30 is worse than 60. 30 is worse on emulation, possibly, than 60 on perfect emulation.
>Should I play the original or wait for the remake?
Before today it was a matter of opinion but after today the remake is clearly superior. They made two major games to speed up tedious parts of the game. First, there are pipes that take you back to areas you've already been after you beat them. They moved all these pipes into one room and made the room much easier to access, so backtracking has been cut down massively. Second, they made it so that you can instantly swap your partner without dealing with a menu, and this game constantly makes you switch partners so this is a huge deal. This remake is looking to be very similar to Windwaker HD, better visuals and tedium cut down to just make it the definitive experience.
>The vast majority of the game looks like the original at a vastly higher resolution with higher quality lighting >ONE TREE LOOKS SHITTY FRICK YOU NINTENDO
Has that been confirmed somewhere?
There may be, like the Mario RPG one had that option. I just really don't like the remake music from what I've heard (other tracks sounded like downgrades too). I have other minor nit-picks, and I already own the original so I'm probably not going to get the remake.
However, if they added significant, new content and there is a way to switch the tracks, then I may lean the other direction.
Don't reply to this lazy frick. He can't even be bothered do any research or watch a goddamn video. The level of brain rot and cognitive bias people have this day and age is mind boggling.

Get your boogeyman out of your system. I've seen people make up rumors and crap before about games, and I didn't see anything about it when researching it online (except other people complaining about the music too).
I'm waiting for the haters to try to desperately come up with some argument for how cutting out half the backtracking is actually a bad thing because their Nintendo derangement refuses to even process the possibility they might have done something good.
It's not good, but it's not a real significant issue and the reason TTYD discourse is full of it is because morons can't address the actual game rather than the memes surrounding it.
Man, Miyamoto and Tanabe really sent out the damage control on this thread.
Yes, I will buy the 20 year old game TWICE, and I WILL contribute to you stupid fricks to prove to you this is the type of game I want and NOT ticker Star 4. Cope, seethe, and dilate.
Still waiting on the moronic haters to explain how the backtracking changes are not a massive improvement. Of course they never actually played the original so they have no idea why they matter.
>Still waiting to hear what specifically they changed
It's been repeated several times already
Firstly the moved all the pipes into one room and put it in rougeport instead of down in the sewers. This means you can return to areas and move between areas very quickly. This greatly speeds up both the general white quest and the trouble quests. They also added a partner wheel to greatly speed up switching between partners and this is very important because you can switch to the yoshi to move faster. So that change will speed up every area of the game after you get the Yoshi in the third chapter.
>What about Vivian? Did trannies take another L?
We have no idea yet. They left the cat boo instead of changing it back to a bunny so he might still be a girl in the English version.
>This series was always about the appeal of paper, and ttyd shows it
Appeal was the story itself, you fake nu fan. Paper were curses at best for most of the franchises.
>This series was always about the appeal of paper, and ttyd shows it
Appeal was the story itself, you fake nu fan. Paper were curses at best for most of the franchises.
>the curse cope
One (1) game in the series treats paper this way, and its remake is already skirting it by making everything a lot more blatantly papercraft like the newer games, and the marketing REALLY doesn't care, shoehorning paper puns everywhere as though it were a nu game.
Paper Mario 64 didn't have paper powers. It has one or two references to paper (like Mario floating when he falls down) but these are very sparse.
TTYD had paper powers but they were curses.
SPM had no paper reference or power that I can think of (I don't count Mario's 2D/3D move as one)
I really love the things I see about this new version.
Fixing the misgendering of Hooktail, goombas are not written badly hitting on women, Vivian coming to her right.
This seems like the true version.
>the goombas don't hit on goombella anymore at the start
Sweetbaby....
I fricking hate troonyhouse so much.
Between ruining the joke of Hooktail's true gender because "don't misgender the hecking evil dragon!" and changing the goombas hitting on goombella (despite us knowing it's bad and beating them up immediately after), you know they're gonna frick things up further by removing the fat jokes and trooning vivian out.
Behead all trannies.
Behead ALL localizers
Why does the french doogan still hit on Goombella in Petalburg then? Is it possible the dialogue in the sewers is just closer to how it was in JP and she was never hit on by them in that version?

>Bad goombas can't aggressively flirt to show they're bad. >Neutral NPC can aggressively flirt to show he's obnoxious.
This raises interesting questions about the localizers' beliefs....
A lot of people love SPM, what are you on. If they make a remake with an RPG battle setting other than janky platforming to accompany the story, it would shoot up to at least a 9/10 game.
I fricking hate troonyhouse so much.

Honestly it kinda matters, it's a nice little interaction that helps shaping Goombella's character early in the game. It's not even close to being a dealbreaker but it's a bad translation and it's infuriating.
>It's not even close to being a dealbreaker but it's a bad translation and it's infuriating. >bad translation
No one has posted the original JP dialogue yet. A lot of English TTYD is fanfiction. Is the old line even in the JP version to begin with?
If the new dialog really is "more accurate" then I'll take smooth sounding fanfiction over clunky wordiness any day.
I don't have that, but I do know of an ancient rough translation guide that predates the English release (remember when we had to wait months on end between JP and EN releases?): https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/gamecube/920182-paper-mario-the-thousand-year-door/faqs/31620
I dunno if what sort of nuance the JP word was going for, but they do hit on Goombella and call her "cutie" in this translation, a near-confirmation that the underground Goomba gang were always attempted rapists.
Now we just need the JP remake line to determine if it was a Treehouse change or not. We've known since the reveal that dialogue was being changed even in Japanese.
So, instead of getting a smooth translation, we're getting awkward fanfiction. Figures.

>So, instead of getting a smooth translation, we're getting awkward fanfiction. Figures.
Awkward fanfiction is TTYD in a nutshell. You were just okay with it because you grew up with it and didn't know any better when it came to faithful translations, but that doesn't make it not fanfiction. If the game released in a world where the original didn't exist tomorrow with the GCN script, you wouldn't call it a translation, you'd call it fanfiction. You're only being charitable to it because it's the version you remember, so seeing changes to it fricks with your head even though both scripts are fanfiction at the end of the day. I said the same thing with the script changes we got with the Super Mario RPG remake.
I'm curious to see if we'll get translation comparison images like the ones for Unicorn Overlord and Eiyuden Chronicles. In my opinion comparisons for this game would absolutely be in bad faith if they don't include the JP original and JP remake lines.

Sewer Goombas not hitting on Goombella is fanfiction. Them hitting on Goombella (in the US version) is not fanfiction.
I really love the things I see about this new version.

This seems like the true version.
They're not going to make vivian a troony because he isn't one in the Japanese version either. There's no indication that Vivian believes he is a girl. Goombella specifically points out that he is a boy. He's a trap. The difference is that he is a gay who crossdresses because it's his fetish while trannies expect to be able to use the women's changing room with little girls because they get to determine their own gender.
Personally what I like to do is avoid upgrading HP (keep them at 10, 15 when late game maybe) and upgrade BP but never abuse Super Bounce (the one you can bounce multiple times on a single enemy) + Charge since this is a game breaker.
+looks gorgeous
+sounds amazing
+more animations for minor characters
+dialogue closer to the JP version (?)
+concept art gallery/jukebox
+area-specific battle/victory themes like origami king
+quicker partner switching
-30 fps instead of 60
>looks gorgeous
Worse than the original in a lot of ways. >sounds amazing
Clearly worse music. >more animations for minor characters
Actually good. >concept art gallery/jukebox
Eeeeh this kind of stuff is never relevant, but sure. >area-specific battle/victory themes like origami king
Shit new soundtracks, so no. >quicker partner switching
Yeah that's great.
>the way they probably always intended for it to look
Lol no. This is a different look by a different team. It's not entirely bad, some changes are good, but overall it's a downgrade and it's not the "original vision" or anything.
>the soundtrack is so good
It's shit. They didn't have hardware limitations for that btw.
>the new animations are so good.
Actually yes. Only good point.
>and we get more goodies like concept art.
It's not actual GAME content.
>and they can finally give us specific battle themes like they always wanted.
They never did. They always could have. This is a new coat of paint to try and make the remake look like a good buy.
>30 fps is more than enough.
Shut the frick up, moron. You can see and feel the difference. Movements look a lot more stilted and worse.
honest to god >not enough features to call it a new game or even additions made to, just graphical remake >same shit they did to Mario and Luigi for 3ds
for the kids growing up right now who were born before the first TtYd, this is great >to Nintnedo/Mario fans who did grow up during tTYD but but never played/owned it, great >to people who played/ own tTYD or know how to pirate, pointless
Is that correct? No extra features like Bowsers Minions?
>for the kids growing up right now who were born before the first TtYd
more like for everyone who didn't own a game cube
IF there are 140 million Switches out by the time TTYD Remake comes out, that's at least 118 million people who never played it back in the day since the Game Cube only sold 22 million units
>No extra features like Bowsers Minions?
Nobody liked that shit. Why do people prop up its existence like it was a big welcomed addition to the remake but whenever they actually talk about the game no one cares about it?
because it's at least an attempt to get me to buy it again, it's something, ANYTHING. I'm still sitting on my copy as a birthday gift from 2006, so as stated I have little interest in this.
I had no idea GameCube wasn’t popular at the time, melee was the go to party game.
But apparently not that many have played the GameCube gems so releasing it for Switch is good. Hopefully it will give them the courage to make another game with its combat system.
Melee sold decently well and was the GCN's best seller (like 7 million), so that at least had a lot of attention that generation. Considering the GTA games sold about a dozen million each on PS2 and FFX (the next best-seller on PS2) was at 8m, 7m for Melee is a strong and noticeable outing for the GCN that gen.
Everything else's popularity on the GCN is absolutely overblown by its fanboys though.
as a gamecube kid I also didnt know this, but in hindsight it makes sense considering how many friends of mine had either Xboxes (rare) or PS2s (super fricking common)
>dream-come-true >remake
Oh, frick off. Fans of TTYD don’t care about a remake, or at least, we would vastly prefer a proper sequel over this damage-control.
It’s only a “dream-come-true” for younger / newer gamers, but they don’t seem to understand that a digital port of the original game would have been just as good (if not better) than the remake.
>Fans of TTYD don’t care about a remake, or at least, we would vastly prefer a proper sequel over this damage-control
Who's "we"? I've been seeing TTYD fans demanding this game to get a remake since fricking forever
It’s genuinely hard for me to believe that the noise from “TTYD fans” asking for a remake wasn’t from secondaries who watched someone play or talk about the original and pretended to have played it, themselves. Sure, they’re ready to be parted from their money, but they aren’t the “core” fanbase.
This really is a dream come true.
With all the extra work that has gone into this it feels wrong to call it a remake. It's the definite version all us true fans have been waiting on.
I’m playing PM64 right now and it’s fine. I never got more than halfway through the original because I rented it as a kid so enjoying it as a new Paper Mario right now.
The combat system is not as complex but still good.
no shit moron i could have told you that 15 years ago
FPBP
I might play the gamecube version again instead or pirate it.
>man consumes nothing but free nintendo shit
>i would have totally bought the game if they didn't take away the free nintendo shit
i bet homosexual
Did anyone else get the impression that they're playing this up like an entirely new release from the Overview Trailer? The fact that it was a remake didn't come up once.
What I'm seeing right now in this gameplay video shows that this probably had close development time like a new PM game.
>Did anyone else get the impression that they're playing this up like an entirely new release
Of course they would be, pretending it's a new game is way better marketing than saying it's the same 20 years old game.
Most nintendo fans didn't play the original since itvwas on the flopcube. Might as well pretend It's a new game
>over 30 million sales
>"flop"
okay snoy
Because it was a fricking flop. Even the newcomer Microsoft cucked it pretty hard.
I remember Sony fans making fun of nintendo fans at the time for getting their yearly Mario Party rehash as their holiday game kek
Mario Party was unironically better than all the PS5 exclusives
Doesn't matter. They were trash compared to the games PS2 was getting
Not really, there isn't a single PS2 game that actually fills the Mario Party niche
Even their "new" games like TotK are highly derivative.
hey alright
>30 FPS
>full price for a game that came out 20 years ago
Absolute seething morons.
absolute wienerslurping tendie
this tbh and bad upscaling aliasing everywhere
day 1 emulate for sure
Can someone explain me why this particular game has such rabid and mentally ill fans?
That’s just how the GameCube is. Look at the fans of Smash Bros Melee, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, and Metroid Prime as well. They’re unhinged, unwashed, and unfrickable the lot of them. They defend the ShitCube to their deaths despite it being an abject failure of a console with its big releases being flops and it almost bankrupted Nintendo.
Show me on the doll where the Gamecube touched you.
You lost and got raped by the PS2 troony
This is how you look

his og in name int his site was feelguy
DON'T YE TALK SHITE ABOUT WIND WAKER SAILORS
These are the same people that think games like Pikmin, and Sunshine are top tier games other than just curiosities lol.
>this particular game
yeah because nearly every series doesnt have the same or worse. all people that are "huge fans" of anything are mentally ill
the easy to draw variations of the regular mario enemies makes it easy to make OCs attracting the same kind kind of autists that sonic attracts.
the game game is pretty good in my opinion but the fandom is sonic lite
It has the undertale/mother/tumblr gamer roots. Low mechanical skill games fail to gatekeep a certain breed of gamer. The real culprit is super paper mario but the trajectory is set here.
Because it was good and every game in the series that came after was worse.
Because, unlike most other console generations, Gamecubegays are so starved for rereleases/fanservice that they become even more dogmatically attached to their specific brand of nostalgia
Mario mogs literally every one of those games though so by that virtue the gamecube sucks
the gamecube rules dude
>Melee > Ult
Only thing Melee has over Ultimate is a better single player modes, namely Break the Targets and Adventure Mode
>WindWaker/TP > BoTW/ToTK
Wind Waker is better than BotW and TotK, but Twilight Princess sucks balls outside of Midna
>F Zero GX > Mario Kart
Perhaps, but Mario Kart still gets games that sells copies
>Metroid Prime > Dread
Both are great, in terms of gameplay they're not comparable
I never said the games were bad, just that their lack of presence in nostalgia pandering has made them more dogmatic
That's consistent with the Japanese version. They're called the "Shadow Trio" as opposed to the "Shadow Sirens" since Vivian is a boy. Not gonna lie, this is giving me hope
>Only thing Melee has over Ultimate is a better single player modes
and overall gameplay but I forgot that the only thing modern smashhomosexuals care about is roster speculation and don't really care if fighting obnoxious gimmicks like steve brings down the experience for everyone
idk how you can compare prime to dread
The best prime game is on the Wii.
This whole "cubies" thing is incredibly forced. A lot of GC games were interesting and some anons like some of them. That's about it. You don't see this kind of insane cope for any other game/series.
Good game
>if you care about something, ANYTHING, you are "rabid" and "mentally ill"
You are a fricking zoomer with a pathetic hyper-self conscious syndrome
Huge crossover with kingdom hearts fans for obvious reasons.
>switch exclusive
Why isn't this coming to PC?
bro your emulator??
>[GREAT NEWS]
why did everyone start adding shit like this to the subject of every thread? why not just let people come up with their own opinions?
It's a Japanese thing that one weeb keeps doing
I am not buying a switch just for one remake
You should have already had 1 many years ago.
For what? remakes and shit games? All I played nintendo consoles for was pokemon, and they ruined that as well.
Sucks you have shit taste and no social life bro.
>different areas get new remixes of the battle theme like in TOK
holy fricking BASED
A lot of characters seem to get new themes as well like Koops and the Cursed Chests and they really Mario Kart 8'd the soundtrack with a lot of themes getting extensions too. The soundtrack is by far the part I'm looking most forward to. And there's even the Nostalgic Tunes badge for the purists
Total Tanabe Death when this sells 5 million copies
you're deluded if you think this will sell 5 million. SMRPG sold 3 million and that has way more appeal and is actually better than gay paper mario trash
SMRPG was also sold out online moronic troony. The frick are you trying to prove?
Keep seething like the homosexual you are.
There were never any physical versions in stock, the game hasn't come out yet.
>Can't have bad guys do bad things that we think are bad.
I despise modern sensibilities so much.
And yet the mouse thief can still just kiss Mario unprompted. It figures, i guess.
troony gamecube game. Paper Mario 64 mogged pretty hard
Here's the nu-PM apologist trying to stir shit up between the fans of the good games, right on cue.
Nope. always hated gamecube trash. You're deluded nimrod that wasn't even born in 2004
>seething over a 25 year old console
might as well have a nice day pathetic homosexual
Continue to seethe over your trash game of your trash childhood, homosexual
>You're deluded nimrod
GOOD MORNING, SIR!
go back to the /vr/ containment board.
cool, looks like I'll be playing the one on the right
I wonder why I liked the original more. It felt like an actual adventure and not a series of hallways like TTYD
Stfu samegay you've shat up enough TTYD threads. We're back in the positivity era like in the old cozy PM threads so frick off and never come back.
>DADDY NINTENDO IS BRINGING BACK MY SHITTY CHILDHOOD GAME! THEY ARE BASED, EVEN IF THEY RUINED THE FUTURE ENTRIES! STOP CRITICIZING THE GAME AND NINTENDO! STOP
have a nice day, sub human
Type that again without crying, sticker Black person.
>Implying sticker is not a future entry
You can't even read, you stupid fricker.
>if I make a half-hearted attempt at criticizing Sticker Star, I'll TOTALLY FOOL THE OLDgayS EPIC STYLE
You aren't fooling anyone, Nu Paper Zoomer.
You are not even worth the replies
I accept your concession.
Accept it with my dick in your ass, shitposter
It's not easy to come out of the closet, anon. I commend you for your bravery.
OH NO OH NO
Probably why they didn't remake the N64 game. Too hard.
They should have remade the N64 game.
According to Nintendo this game has gotten more attention and feedback over the decades.
Not surprising given that gamecube trannies are more vocal (that's just how trannies are)
The worst part is that this remake is 30fps. If they were going to remake a Paper Mario game they should have gone with the original since that one is also 30fps
Chapter 3 in TTYD is a disgrace. Always was.
>Talking shit about Glitzville
Sometimes simple is better and Chapter 3 is a shining example of why
So where's the remake
People think it's a recent trend but sacrificing level design for graphics has been a trend since gen 6
Scott the Woz seething.
Scott the woz is a zoomie fricking idiot who couldn't distinguish a quality game if it kicked him in the ass.
that yeah homosexual talked shit about Devil's Third
Or as most call it, devil's turd
The dungeons also have more complex design in the original game.
that's a yikes from me
>hyping up the empty-ass chapter 2 desert
>"world layout" is level design
>not the layout of the levels themselves
Yeah let's ignore the puzzles, the "minor" buildings" and the optional content
And the battle system is so much better in TTYD it's impossible to go back to 64 after playing it
And let's not talk about Color Splash or TOK because they have the same exact world layout as TTYD except for 2 levels in each game
You're not replying to a real person you know
There's nobody to convince
the puzzles in Paper Mario 1 were better.
name 5
The entire Chapter 3 forest gimmick in the original is better than the "puzzles" you have in TTYD
You cannot reasonably argue someone out of a position that they got into without reason but just unchecked moronation
That homosexual knows theyre being intellectually dishonest with how the games play and are layed out, but his little chart there promotes his bait, I mean, narrative.
>Better
>Start the game immune to damage
Lol
I don't remember that. Does it last for like the very first fight against Lord Crump?
>OH NO 64XISTERS, HOW DO WE RESPOND
>JUST DEFLECT WITH SOME THING ABOUT THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF THIS SEVERAL DOZEN HOUR RPG
why are they like this?
TTYDs system was not better, because you had nothing to use it on other than shadow queen. Everything has less HP than enemies did by chapter 4 in 64
>everything has less hp than enemies did by chapter 4 in 64
>64gay making shit up
All Shy Guys aside from Anti Guy have 7 hp and 0 defense. Not only are there enemies with more hp than Shy Guys but there's also more stat variation requiring stronger attacks.
>nothing to use it on
>what is the pit
Don't get me wrong, I do like the system, I just think it'd be real nice if the enemies fought back. Did TTYD have any difficulty badges? I haven't played it in years
You can use double damage, which is nice, but I think more enemy HP would be better than just you taking double damage.
TTYD is indubitably just way too fricking easy, because it's a kid's game. The combat/badge system is actually pretty nice and fun, but it all becomes meaningless when your grandma could stomp everything without looking.
Getting a Hero Mode or NewGame+ or a difficulty badge is what I wanted, would've been so easy to do too, but no, they couldn't even do that. Fricking nintendo.
Yes it's really annoying. It wasn't TOO bad because you could always nerf yourself a little but for a remake this was obviously expected
Just don't level up HP or use danger plus mongoloid. There's your hard mode.
>Don't level up HP
>Hard mode
Isn't HP the single worst stat to level?
NTA but giving enemies more HP would be better than just making you at the brink of death all the time
>I assure you 5% of TTYD players actually went there
The Pit isn’t really that difficult if you approach it before the final chapter. I’m relatively casual in my play style, and I had a lot of fun. Cleared it in a single, blind run even.
There's a side quest that asks you to go to floor 18 of the pit, and the inventory upgrade is on floor 50. There's also a post game side quest to reach floor 50. People absolutely go to it at least once.
The excessive hallway level design along with the tedious pacing caused by too much backtracking is a big reason why I prefer PM64.
When people say "TTYDs backtracking isn't bad", they always forget its stretching out ridiculously threadbare chapters. It's bad because they're making you walk up and down the same tiny hallways. This was a problem in general with Nintendo games during the gamecube era. Every game had some sort of shitty gimmick to pad out gametime.
like what
Triforce hunt in WW
If this remake can fix some of these backtracking issues then it will be the definitive way to play the game
>muh 60fps
It's a fricking turn based JRPG
TTYD has very poor pacing and it is the main reason I don’t like the game at all. I bet the nostalgia gay took a pill to forget about it.
Based and redpilled. Paper Mario 1 feels more like a Zelda game with its progression. TTYD feels like PS2 era Final Fantasy
Yep. TTYD was always a hallway simulator.
Don't forget the fact that PM music >>>>>>>>> TTYD music
oh my God you morons are so fricking gullible
Nu-PM apologists massive roping ceremony when this releases to critical and financial acclaim will be glorious
I really liked TOK and ultimately didn't hate CS, sue me and I'm excited as frick for this. Even if you enjoy the newer games acting like they wouldn't have been massively improved with entirely original characters, more cohesive battle systems, and more freedom in narrative is just pure bootlicking.
I am ready to accept joy back into my cynical cold heart.
The game is going to have too much music why would they redo the battle theme for every location
It’s literally just the same game in HD
yeah I don't get it either. Played the original a billion times and see no reason to pay full price again
looks like it's using the origami king engine
It has unlockeable gallery with concept art and stuff that sole thing makes it better
This. Remakes are pointless.
Rather play PM64 TTWD mod, since it actually adds new things.
I rather replay bug fables.
That game is broken in half even easier than TTYD was. When I discovered Weak Stomach+Turn Relay+Kabu/Vi strats halfway through the game it stopped being engaging.
>I broke the game so nobody else can enjoy it
Cope
That's not what I said at all moron. I simply said that the game is far easier to trivialize than TTYD to explain why I disagree.
And I say I like the game because I don't try to break it, frick off
You could've just replied that in the first place rather than shoving words in my mouth like some twitterite zoomer homosexual.
>50 bongbucks
I'm happy for everyone who wants this, but absolutely not.
Same, I emulated TTYD for free last year, people who buy this shit are truly moronic
You are the moron who will go on complaining about them not going back after this flops.
I'd imagine with it being an actual remake like this, on the Switch, and all marketing that comes with that, more people will be playing this for the first time than people replaying it again.
>good game is still good
I love how snoyggers act like anyone who buys nintendo games is mentally ill and then constantly act completely schizophrenic
Any new content?
>this remake of a game with extremely simple visuals that didn't at all need to be remade and isn't adding anything new is a good thing ackshually
>now go pay full price for a slightly newer coat of paint for it like a good little goy
Journos sucking bags of wiener as usual.
>gets mad over IS testing the waters for "classic" Paper Mario after critical failures ever since Super
so. any word yet?
According to my uncle who works at Nintendo, Vivian is canonically ___fat
no, she's pregnant
it's mine
Fans of Mario RPGs? They are different beasts. SMRPG is its own thing and it’s amazing. Mario and Luigi, a separate series is also great. Now, Paper Mario, that shit is awful.
Why do you insist on being fricking cringe?
>snoys calling others mentally ill when they spend their days entering nintendo games threads for the sole purpose of shitting them up
Guffaw.
>HD texture pack of a good game is a good game
Woah no way. So they did they actually add anything or what?
shitbirth trannies seething hard ITT
NoA is hiding Vivian and got rid of the bunny Boo girl in the parlor (only the cat one behind the counter is shown) so we’ll see what else NoT (Nintendo Of Twitter) put their greasy mits on.
I keep saying it, but I really wish we could do something to get NoJ to shitcan the American localizers that keep pissing all over their games, especially Treehouse
The boo was a cat in the original EU and NA release you stupid frick
>30fps
>for a mostly sprite-based game
>the original was 60
How do they frick it up this badly?
>this thread
Why are gamecube gays so insecure?
Most kids that grew up with a gamecube, transitioned. This is no joke.
>people discussing upcoming game
>shitposters can't handle people discussing discussing video games on the video games board so they enter the thread to fling shit
>get told to frick off
>WHOA WHY ARE GAMECUBE gayS SO INSECURE?!
You morons are hilarious
If you're going to talk to yourself, try to make it less obvious.
They were bullied as kids for having such a gay looking lunchbox for a console
can anyone really blame Nintendo? if I could sell morons the same products at full price over and over I would do it in a heartbeat
Oh wow, they have area-specific battle theme remixes like TOK. That's actually really cool.
VERDICT: Very based.
source?
Vivian has a vegana.
The seething is gonna be crazy when this outsells all mario rpg shit and gets a 90+ meta.
>This thread
Love the smell of third worlders seething about Nintendo in the morning.
Wow do Nintendo fans really pay $60 for Gamecube games? I can download them for free.
>You can experience the GC original music
>Easily switch partners
>Gameplay and battle hints
>Practice mode
how is music from the game that its porting a feature?
They should add a Hard Mode badge like Bug Fables.
There's still things that haven't been revealed.
>fantastic
No.
it's decent. It's better than what I expected. Too much paper aesthetic but they could have done worse.
It's still not worth a remake though. No new 100 Pits. No improvements.
>constant non-stop paper jokes in the context of TTYD
Anti-papergays.....
Yeah, it's bad. At least it's not IN THE GAME (or at least not too much, they definitely added more paper visuals)
In Japan this was literally the first one with paper in the title too
spammed nu paper puns are disgusting, they are non-natural curses in the og paper mario trilogy.
facts
you paper autists are so embarrassing that you try to act like you're this paragon of quality and respect on terms of fricking paper puns.
>Shows a game that literally only was called "Mario's Story" as an argument.
Paper Puns were never the soul of the series or even the main interest.
Of course it is
>take a classic game everyone already loved
>make it better with actual QoL improvements, by listing all of the small gripes and revisiting them, such as party member swapping now being 100x faster with no menuing.
When you actually make a proper remake like this, it can only improve the game
Also
>game includes old Gamecube version SFX and music if you want.
>take a classic game everyone already loved
only resetera types and trannies like ttyd
cope, nu-paper gay.
Your series is dead, now its time for the good ones to return.
So God's country, called America, isn't getting special editions?
I just can't justify buying this if I already played the original. This seems to be something for people who never touched TTYD. And I mean good for them, but unless there are new areas, new challenge modes, and they remove the broken crap like Danger Mario, I'm gonna pass. I hate when you can trivialize a game.
Currently playing Paper Mario: Master quest right now, and I praise the dev for giving bosses special counters to stop danger Mario.
it looks like the only new content they added is sound and art gallerys, I think the pianta parlor has some new minigames but to be honest i never messed around there in the original
so it's like SMRPG, except instead of lazy boss battle rehashes, they won't even try this time.
This will outsell and get much higher reception than SMRPG. You're gonna seeth even more huh?
>normalscum will buy and praise any game
Your point?
sound gallerys used to be the standard in games, I think nintendo is one of the last companies attempting to make video games fun but they've been so lazy the past decade or so it's sad
>trusting ~~*reviewers*~~
lol, lmao even
Various reviewers have subtly hinted that there is some amount of new content although likely only postgame.
>remove danger Mario
Sensing some big gay energy from this post
He makes the game too easy, and it's not enough for me to avoid using him (which I do) but I don't want anyone else using him. You should play the game the right way.
No one uses Danger Mario on their first playthrough anyways so he's fine he helps speed up replays
Same general argument against BP gays, only pick BP because you can slot in HP/FP as needed, and 1 BP gives 3 points which is enough for 1HP/FP badge... okay, but then you permanently keep HP and FP badges slotted in the whole game because beating it on 5HP is impossible, literally just wasting your time and coins on getting HP badges you never needed.
>eh who cares about customization just give me the most streamlined experience possible replay value be damned
>TTYD remake is almost 1:1 which makes it pointless.
TTYD is one of the games I have ever played and now I'll have this Deluxe remake to play this summer sitting on my back porch swing.
Life is good.
>In paper mario you literally always do the same thing anyway
maybe you do
>replay value
Yes, who the fuxk actually replays rpgs? Outside a few exceptions
The issue isn't battles or platforming, it's every world being 2D shit
kek i bet you think garbage like twilight princess is the pinnacle of the zelda series
Jesus.
It was a garbage platformer with gameplay on par with the shittiest of flash games.
>no rebuttal
So it was actually good then
>and is probably one of the best plots / stories any mario spin off has had
That award goes to Bowser Jr.'s Journey
>not a single word about the gameplay
SPMgays are always like this kek
A remake will be goty 2 year in a row looks like
TOK > TTYD
I still like Paper Mario more than TTYD.
Most people with good taste do.
Nah. They're two different games and both fill their niche well.
Previews have been real quiet about Vivian.
They’re keeping the new side quest where you have to smuggle Vivian’s HRT in through the harbor a secret.
>HRT
Huge round tummy?
>new postgame content (probably)
>warp pipes completely reworked, backtracking addressed
>every chapter has its own battle theme
>still have the option to play with the original soundtrack
>difficulty left as is
>pianta parlor essentially unchanged
>more soul by virtue of the animal crossing style babbling, significantly more expressive characters
>not 30 fps in docked mode
>concept art from the original game
Yeah... I'm thinking GOTY.
>new postgame content (probably)
>every chapter has its own battle theme
>still have the option to play with the original soundtrack
where are you getting any of this from? your ass?
The trailer you moronic homosexual
Literally shows you the old sfx badge right there, and a sound test menu
The new battle music is heard in the latest trailer, with multiple versions
As for the new postgame, thats from their ass
>As for the new postgame, thats from their ass
hinted at by treehouse actually . dumb b***h.
NTA, but source please?
nintendo life
>source
Like I said, their ass.
Never mentioned any postgame additions, theyre reading into their own headcanon
refer to
then have a nice day
>samegay Gankerirgin shitting up the thread hasn't even watched any of the new previews
Woah... I'm shocked...
>same game re-released years later with minor changes
>still $60
>GOTY
TTYD is one of the best games I've ever played on any system.
Feels good being me.
Die mad troon.
It's nice, but it's not enough. There needs to be more. At the minimum, a new difficulty mode.
>source: he claimed he heard it at a bar
>Nintendo
>New content
They did this instead of a real sequel
Thank God they did
One day they'll make a ttyd sequel, surely
maybe if ttyd sells well
Between this the Mario RPG remake and the survey its pretty apparent the Mario RPGs are currently in a state where Nintendo doesnt know how to proceed.
They should make another superstar saga for switch as much as I want another Paper Mario
Alpha Dream is fricking dead.
Does it matter? It’s just a classic JRPG. The format is established. They are simple games to make.
there isn't a single good gamecube game if you think about it with the knowledge we have now
Yeah, nothing but great games on that console tbh
Pikmin 1
Killer7
SPM is one of the worst games in the series and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
It was okay for a spinoff but as it turned out it wasn't a spinoff
SPM is 1000 times better than any of the stucker games. It's alos 1000 times worse than any paper mario game before it (or M+l game before it for that matter)
Don't worry guys
The new Venom game and Wolverine will save the PlayStation 5
What the frick is a PS5?
is she being held at gun point and does she ever get naked?
More footage
The new music is literal dogshit, same with the stupid Animal Crossing noises.
The remade music is less catchy, there’s too much going on
>the goombas don't hit on goombella anymore at the start
Sweetbaby....
The new dialog they shoehorned in to replace it is so awkward and clunky too. It doesn't fit at all.
Well that's very weird since Dupree is completely unchanged
>apparently everyone knows hooktail is a girl now even though it was supposed to be a joke that nobody knew except for gloomtail and bonetail
i hate treehouse so much it's unreal
There have been noted dialogue changes even in Japanese since the first trailer
>Kids will now know that they are killing a women in the first chapter
based
The music is so much better now that it sounds more like TOK. TTYDs og soundtrack was shit compared to 64.
ttyd battle music is shit yeah, but the overworld wasn't that bad, at least from what I remember
?si=Hv0QtIUWsD8uCo0z&t=979
>They added pre boss music like from SS-TOK
?si=uk_3ECF7Ux2s1o1y
if you think this Teletubbies battle theme sounds better than this
?si=8dPLIGwiPJ9wixLy
you are so delusion and hate "nu paper mario" so much that you'd hate anythin influenced from the new games. If you can't see the polish that the new team has knack for, that's on you.
?si=uk_3ECF7Ux2s1o1y
I cannot wait to hear what they do and if it sounds anything as good as this
?si=iIdJj8qyf6IPcBdS
>You're probably so moronic you'll hate that they'll make a great theme that plays when you fight somethin at the shadow of palace
Actually no. You've managed to pick the one instance where I'll likely love the music change. It doesn't work if you make one battle theme for each chapter but this one definitely deserves one.
>I cannot wait to hear what they do and if it sounds anything as good as this
>[YouTube] Origami Castle - Paper Mario: The Origami King OST (embed)
Nevermind. Kys, TOK troony.
Black person I like all the paper marios expect for SPM, which ruined the series. I love that the mere mention of TOK sends you to the shitter. You ain't got no right to call me a troony when TTYD has a cross dressin troony of it's own.
I'm calling you a troony because you have the musical and design sensibilities of a troony (outside of the one good point you made about the Shadow Palace).
I like good music, TTYD had shit techno beep boop music at release. They are making it sound like TOK, which has the best ost in the series. I cannot help that you have actual troony taste in music and want to take it out on me. You're one of those fricks who are so far gone you can't even like a ost of a game you probably deem bad.
No, I can like good OSTs in bad games. TOK ost is fine but it doesn't fit the game and it's too busy. Adding a lot of bullshit in TTYD doesn't help or improve anything.
I really don't see what your problem is. Do you not see how much this enhances the game
?si=54UEiXZ2QGhQsv9u&t=860
>go through the game normally with battle music up to this point
>Encounter enemy in the bosses castle
>more intense version of the battle music plays
>"oh shit, things are heatin up"
I don't see how you could dislike this sort of thing. Game music is all about settin the mood of what's happenin and this Teletubbies bop continuing into the castle just does not at all sound thrilling
?si=uk_3ECF7Ux2s1o1y
More battle themes != better soundtrack. Having a battle theme come up more often is a good thing to get you used to it and enjoy it. It's a routine. But even then I was comparing it on a soundtrack to soundtrack basis. I'm not entirely against the idea of one battle theme per chapter/area, although it depends how it's implemented, but the modified tracks are a downgrade. Just listen to those overworld tracks, dude.
>shit techno beep boop music
Shit taste

This new version is so much better oh it slaps
It really showcases the game cube had limitations that this version has fixed
All the new music sounds a little garbled, too much going on
bro tune your adobe enhance ai before rendering this
Not him, but are (subjective) improvements to audio + visual presentation and the convenience fee worth sinking $60 into for someone who owns the original game and hardware?
Oh boy more big band trumpet bullshit like every other modern Mario game
Seek help.
>64 loyalist
It's a Nu Paper Zoomer trying to provoke infighting among the old guard.
>he's still in these threads pushing his moronic conspiracy theory
PM64 was my first game and I was probably born before you too. TTYD is linear backtracking mediocre dreck that's only above the likes of Sticker Star.
Okay but where in my own post did I mention the GameCube being shit, I'm saying they can't slap GameCube games onto a service like they can N64, whoever you're thinking of is not me
I like both games, I just think 64 had more of a reason to be remade first. It's the GameCube Rerelease Syndrome and possibly the vocal fans which made TTYD's remake happen
>8:00 castle specific battle theme
S O U L...
>different variations of the main battle theme depending on the area just like origami king
that's neat.
why would fans of the original even be excited? it's not like the graphics aged poorly, the game still exists and there's nothing to gain from a remake other than new fans being introduced and a way to spend money to say you like something
nintendo fans have been groomed to consume no matter the price or if theyve played it before
>why would fans of the original even be excited?
Because Nintendo has served us gimmick shit nobody asked for every since SPM in 2007 and people who liked the older style of games are understandably excited that Nintendo is market testing that format by revisiting it.
I'll prolly pick it up just to play it during down time at work
Wouldn't say I'm particularly excited though
>huge TTYD fans excited to play it for the first time
30FPS??? You have to be kidding, why would they half-ass it? I knew they hated ttyd
I already replayed TTYD recently on Dolphin so I won’t be getting this.
Enjoying PM64 right now on the Nintendo emulator though
daily reminder that this was fantastic and had a cool twist unlike modern Paper Mario but you Black folk just wanted more of the same
>but you Black folk just wanted more of the same
Of course I just wanted more of the same you turbo homosexual.
>SPM was a spinoff, not mainline unlike Sticker Troon, gay Splash of Origami Incel
this is some insane cope
>funny how even the third Mario & Luigi game was actually pretty different from the first two games and had a unique gameplay twist
Black person it did not overhaul the game. It's still the same core gameplay Superstar Saga went to create. The difference is now you get a new party member. It didn't take Mario and Luigi and didn't drastically alter the gameplay to a point it's hardly even the same genre.
Based taste-havers
This is cool too, but they should have made BOTH this, and an actual sequel
Nintendo has zero debt and many billions of dollars of straight up cash, they have all the capital they could possibly need to actually make games in their franchises, so it's annoying that they just squat on them and refuse to do anything with them
They're licensed games made by Intelligent Systems
It doesn't matter who would make a sequel, Nintendo are always going to be the ones ponying up the capital for it, which they have absurd amounts of just laying dormant earning an almost negative interest rate return instead of paying devs to make games
>Nintendo are always going to be the ones ponying up the capital for it,
AlphaDream is dead mate this isn't how it works
they could just hire more people and develop it in house if they felt like it - their financial position is so good that they could be making 10x the amount of games they're making right now and they'd still have loads of cash left over
They're licensed games
Nintendo isn't directly funding them
Your entire premise is false
A sequel wouldn't have to be a licensed game, Nintendo own the IP to mario and paper mario. They could just make one themselves. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?
Where's the in-house Mario & Luigi game
Quit being stupid
They could make one if they wanted, that's exactly my point
They should be making games with the 10+ billion dollars they have just lying around instead of letting these series rot
Intsys is not nintendo, they have their offices in a nintendo building and work almost only with nintendo but they are third party they also have to want to do paper mario game
>trailer shows nothing new
sigh...
>but the sound test
kirby has been doing that since the 1st game that is not impressive
>all the 30fps comments
Watching the previews online, it looks to be running at 60fps. Am I missing something?
lol
The original game has been available on emulation forever. Is this person moronic?
You've never met an emugay before? They have to constantly talk about how they're emulating everything. They're like vegans.
I can't help but NOOTICE how absent Vivian is in all the marketing for this. There's no way that's a coincidence.
that's interesting, I guess they just don't want there to be any discourse about it at all if they can help it
Shes literally in the trailers, though?
Vivian’s somewhat worrisome. Perhaps, you can chalk it up to them wanting to keep his turn and becoming a partner a secret. Similarly, Mowz isn’t directly mentioned as a partner and she was kind of a secret bonus ally you had to go out of your way to find.
Perhaps they’re saving something for first-timers to be surprised by, but it could also be that some Localizer didn’t go with an accurate translation, or even the original English one, and instead decided to make the character a statement.
You're overthinking it. They're treating this like a new release, not a remake, so they don't want to spoil everything. Vivian turning from an enemy into an ally is a major plot twist.
>his
Cool it with the transphobia
Are they going to acknowledge one of the team members is a trans person?
>crump now has atari sound effects to go with his theme
KINO
Sad state of affairs when a remake is worth more time and investment than 99% of nu games.
I wish they had actually made a sequel though, that would be so much more exciting than a game I already played
Gonna buy an support it any way in hopes of that. If the next game does away with with the RPG mechanics again I'm done forever
HOLY FRICK THEY REMOVED THE BACKTRACKING
THEY MOVED ALL THE PIPES THAT TAKE YOU TO DIFFERENT AREAS TO A SINGLE ROOM IN ROUGEPORT
Anyone who actually played the original immediately knows how big a deal this is.
Yep, General White is a non issue, the level design being weaker is a bit worse
those "10 minutes" are just "lol he's not here, go somewhere else" 7 times in a row, frick that shit
victory laps are better if you get some novel stuff out of it, things need to change a little bit from when you last saw it so that they feel like living, breathing places.
Level design being linear is far more annoying than a few backtracks too many. Twilight town's first two backtracks are fine, the third is too much
It's like the only complaint they can ever make and act like it ruins the game.
Yeah, uhh I think this is goty guys. Capcom, and Square done goofed.
What do you mean, anon?
Final Fantasy 7 re-lectric boogaloo: dynamic ubisoft time ghost multiverse edition is goty, baybee!
If you don't still own original launch copies of all 6 Paper Mario games you shouldn't get to post in this thread
PM64 is great
TTYD is great
SPM is very good
SS is bad
CS is pretty bad
TOK is okay
Yeah I said it! Frick all yall! Frick all yall! WARP SPEED DON'T RAINBOW READ ME homie

don't tell my wife ;))
Actually, you should have your posting privileges in this thread revoked entirely if you bought anything after Sticker Star.
I didn't even buy sticker star, something told me it was shit from a mile away
CS and TOK are good
I'll always have an axe to grind with CS because of the bullshit gameshow that forces you to throw away all your cards
Oh yeah that was bad. Thankfully the game is very generous with coins and the wheel stuff to get free cards
Should I play the original or wait for the remake?
It literally doesn't matter bro
Literally just play the original. It's free, the visuals are better and more consistent with the comic book style, old soundtrack and sound effects are better, there's no point in buying this remake other than making a statement to Nintendo.
>Literally just play the original. It's free
If your argument is that people should just play the original because it's free via emulation, surely your moronic brain can process the fact that the switch is also emulatable for free?
GC Emulation is better than Switch emulation, but I have other arguments as well.
>? Worse emulation, possible bugs, with a game already capped at 30 FPS is a decent argument. But all of my other points are solid and you can disregard this one if you want.
It's a fricking turn based JRPG and you're here talking about the framerate.
>FPS isn't important a 3D game with skeletal tweening animation style or precise button commands for attacks
holy cope
imagine defending a 20 year old game on significantly worse hardware running at twice the visual clarity
Is this a professional shill?
You're really poor huh?
I bought a switch oled to play for a couple weeks because I’m bored housesitting, going to give it to my nephew when he comes back. What do you think?
>definitive experience
>with these downgraded visuals
Lol
>The vast majority of the game looks like the original at a vastly higher resolution with higher quality lighting
>ONE TREE LOOKS SHITTY FRICK YOU NINTENDO
>resolution
Irrelevant. We already have HD textures. Visual style is mostly downgraded.
So game publications already have the game?
I wish they'd make a new Paper Mario in the style of the first two games again
They changed Hooktail's weakness of crickets back to frogs like it was in the Japanese version.
>that awful remake music
Can't do it. Now I'm 100% sure of my decision to not get this remake.
You can switch between both like very remake worht a shit.
There's a Gamecube badge that costs 1 coin in the Rogueport badge shop that switches the music back
Don't reply to this lazy frick. He can't even be bothered do any research or watch a goddamn video. The level of brain rot and cognitive bias people have this day and age is mind boggling.
Thanks anons!
Get your boogeyman out of your system. I've seen people make up rumors and crap before about games, and I didn't see anything about it when researching it online (except other people complaining about the music too).
?t=689
Seen here
There's a Nostalgic Tunes badge that costs 0 BP
There's an option to switch back
I'm waiting for the haters to try to desperately come up with some argument for how cutting out half the backtracking is actually a bad thing because their Nintendo derangement refuses to even process the possibility they might have done something good.
I must hate, doom and gloom
I must hate, doom and gloom
I must hate, doom and gloom
I must hate, doom and gloom
I must hate, doom and gloom
Wait so is it going to be 60fps docked? That would save the game from unfortunate comparisons to the original
Explain why backtracking is a good thing
The level pacing is probably designed with it in mind
it's comfy and soulful
It's not good, but it's not a real significant issue and the reason TTYD discourse is full of it is because morons can't address the actual game rather than the memes surrounding it.
>if I use the shit meme image, I'm right!
Nintendo is one of the few companies that does remakes right. Gives the fans what they want and doesn't change to much.
if it turns out to be 30fps across the board then they really fricked up i m o
Man, Miyamoto and Tanabe really sent out the damage control on this thread.
Yes, I will buy the 20 year old game TWICE, and I WILL contribute to you stupid fricks to prove to you this is the type of game I want and NOT ticker Star 4. Cope, seethe, and dilate.
TAKE YOUR FRICKING MEDS RIGHT NOW.
Still waiting on the moronic haters to explain how the backtracking changes are not a massive improvement. Of course they never actually played the original so they have no idea why they matter.
Still waiting to hear what specifically they changed
>Still waiting to hear what specifically they changed
It's been repeated several times already
Firstly the moved all the pipes into one room and put it in rougeport instead of down in the sewers. This means you can return to areas and move between areas very quickly. This greatly speeds up both the general white quest and the trouble quests. They also added a partner wheel to greatly speed up switching between partners and this is very important because you can switch to the yoshi to move faster. So that change will speed up every area of the game after you get the Yoshi in the third chapter.
What about Vivian? Did trannies take another L?
Since Vivian joining your party is a spoiler, don't expect any mention of her until after thr game's out
>What about Vivian? Did trannies take another L?
We have no idea yet. They left the cat boo instead of changing it back to a bunny so he might still be a girl in the English version.
I hope they make the original music badge cost 6 BP.
What is Mario grabbing here exactly?
holding her hand so he doesnt get blown away i think
The change I like the most is they made Vivian an enby
>he got filtered by Shy Guy's Toy Box
>he still shills fire emblem
you know what, good on them for sticking to their guns snd keeping it how it was. at least it wasn't sticker star
>[GREAT NEWS]
Wait, is it out?
previews
Don't think so. We just got a bunch of trailers recently.
I just want this game to sell well so we can get new proper Paper Mario games and not soulless shit like Sticker Star or Origami king
You think we're getting soul back if this sells well?
64 is and will always be superior.
West Rogueport in this video
There will be an entire new generation of people getting filtered by hooktail, especially since zoomies don’t read
nooo wtf did they do to the music
>super mario rpg
>masterpiece
its literally one of the lamest, most barebones jRPGs ever made
It's cool how paper puns were always at the heart of this series
It's all but confirmed Vivian will be troon now
It's over...
This looks like The Gamer, and I trust them even less than the likes of IGN.
This series was always about the appeal of paper, and ttyd shows it
>This series was always about the appeal of paper, and ttyd shows it
Appeal was the story itself, you fake nu fan. Paper were curses at best for most of the franchises.
You're being baited, it couline more blatant.
>Paper were curses at best for most of the pm franchise
typo fix
TTYD's paper moments are a lot more sparse and always unnatural in this world. Paper is a curse, not a property everyone has here.
>the curse cope
One (1) game in the series treats paper this way, and its remake is already skirting it by making everything a lot more blatantly papercraft like the newer games, and the marketing REALLY doesn't care, shoehorning paper puns everywhere as though it were a nu game.
Paper Mario 64 didn't have paper powers. It has one or two references to paper (like Mario floating when he falls down) but these are very sparse.
TTYD had paper powers but they were curses.
SPM had no paper reference or power that I can think of (I don't count Mario's 2D/3D move as one)
The SS trilogy is all about paper.
Curses are still apart of the TTYD remake you braindead nupaper gay, og trilogy had no emphasis on Paper puns, you history revisionist.
>bait
I like how they have matured the dialogue from gc, the goombas hitting on goombella was embarrassing
Stfu troon
God fornid a bad villain does a bad thing
Why does the french doogan still hit on Goombella in Petalburg then? Is it possible the dialogue in the sewers is just closer to how it was in JP and she was never hit on by them in that version?
>Why does the french doogan still hit on Goombella in Petalburg then?

This was left alone
It's not the same because it's not street flirting!
Watch him have a character arc where he realizes he was wrong for flirting and apologizes by the end of the game
>watch him h- [mind broken ravings]
>Bad goombas can't aggressively flirt to show they're bad.
>Neutral NPC can aggressively flirt to show he's obnoxious.
This raises interesting questions about the localizers' beliefs....
He's fr*nch, so he can get away with it
The paper puns are so funny and really fit this series. Great writing in this game.
So...
Pretty much confirmed that this will get a remake
I don't think so. No one likes that one, everyone was expecting the thousand year door 2 and instead we got... whatever that abomination was.
A lot of people love SPM, what are you on. If they make a remake with an RPG battle setting other than janky platforming to accompany the story, it would shoot up to at least a 9/10 game.
It sold so badly, and was just so different from ttyd. I can't find anyone that liked that game. It was ugly and yucky.
It sold more than TTYD but performed worse since everyone had a Wii
I don’t think it was bad but I distinctly remember it being worse than 1 & 2
Hopefully this will act as a series reboot and they will make a similar game soon
Everyone has waited all these years for ttyd 2. This game will prove to ninty that it is what we want.
NoA got the message at least given how they desperately tried to make TOK look like a return to form.
Behead ALL localizers
>another 500 TTYD thread
Looks like PM is back kn the menu lads.
Defend this.
Doesn't matter at all, but children's game + woke translators.
>I'll take smooth sounding fanfiction over clunky wordiness
shut up Black person
Honestly I'm betting 99% chances that the previous English dialogue was correct and the new one is fanfiction. Just like Hooktail's pronouns.
Them hitting on Goombella (in the US version) is not fanfiction.
>get hit on by gang of sexpests
>beat them up
>this is now too problematic for the stronk, empowered wahmin
Top one seems better and more fitting in a game such as thousand year door
I know it's bait, but I'll bite. How?
Ttyd doesn't need sexualized content
And yet it has Flurrie
And yet it has Ms. Mowz
And yet it has catgirl Boos
And yet you're a homosexual
>Ttyd doesn't need sexualized content
It's not even that sexual you lightweight, go back to twitter.
Also
>Flurrie
I really love the things I see about this new version.
Fixing the misgendering of Hooktail, goombas are not written badly hitting on women, Vivian coming to her right.
This seems like the true version.
Rope yourself, looney troon.
RIGHT NOW.
I keep forgetting. What's the trait to handicap the game for yourself? Never upgrading your HP, BPs...?
Personally what I like to do is avoid upgrading HP (keep them at 10, 15 when late game maybe) and upgrade BP but never abuse Super Bounce (the one you can bounce multiple times on a single enemy) + Charge since this is a game breaker.
I hate treehouse so much. The only positive is that it's very easy to unpatch their shit out of games like with what they did on fire emblem.
+looks gorgeous
+sounds amazing
+more animations for minor characters
+dialogue closer to the JP version (?)
+concept art gallery/jukebox
+area-specific battle/victory themes like origami king
+quicker partner switching
-30 fps instead of 60
>looks gorgeous
Worse than the original in a lot of ways.
>sounds amazing
Clearly worse music.
>more animations for minor characters
Actually good.
>concept art gallery/jukebox
Eeeeh this kind of stuff is never relevant, but sure.
>area-specific battle/victory themes like origami king
Shit new soundtracks, so no.
>quicker partner switching
Yeah that's great.
it looks the way they probably always intended for it to look. looks really gorgeous.
the soundtrack is so good, this sounds like what they probably always wanted it to sound like.
the new animations are so good.
and we get more goodies like concept art.
and they can finally give us specific battle themes like they always wanted.
30 fps is more than enough.
>the way they probably always intended for it to look
Some posts here need to get sent back to xitter.
it looks so flat and soulless compared to the original
It looks so vibrant and soulful compared to the original
This is the definite version of our beloved ttyd
honest to god
>not enough features to call it a new game or even additions made to, just graphical remake
>same shit they did to Mario and Luigi for 3ds
for the kids growing up right now who were born before the first TtYd, this is great
>to Nintnedo/Mario fans who did grow up during tTYD but but never played/owned it, great
>to people who played/ own tTYD or know how to pirate, pointless
Everything else's popularity on the GCN is absolutely overblown by its fanboys though.
as a gamecube kid I also didnt know this, but in hindsight it makes sense considering how many friends of mine had either Xboxes (rare) or PS2s (super fricking common)
>dream-come-true
>remake
It's the definite version all us true fans have been waiting on.
>trannies suddenly samegayging about GC limitations and the remake being the original vision they always wanted to achieve
So obvious.
I demand a Switch 2 patch or else I'll emulate.
They made Mario RPG worse by making the remake easier.
Do we know if they've messed up TTYD in any way?
So far other than UI changes, it doesn't seem so.
Please let me take multiple trouble center requests at once. I don't want to run into Hooktail Castle multiple times every playthrough.
Never played any paper mario games after SPM, are they worth playing at all?
only the ones before SPM are worth playing.
I heard Paper Jam isn't great but is the last RPG Paper Mario experience
Origami King is great. Don't listen to the gays here.
Only ttyd is worth playing. It refined the series and why we were all waiting for a sequel. Instead spm came and ruined the series forever.
I’m playing PM64 right now and it’s fine. I never got more than halfway through the original because I rented it as a kid so enjoying it as a new Paper Mario right now.
The combat system is not as complex but still good.
Nope, Sticker Star is objectively trash and there's a reason Colour Splash is one of the rare Wii-U games not to get a Switch port.
>another PM thread reaching bump limit
Nu-PM apologists BTFO now and forever

We won.
>We
Who? Is this good or bad for the trannies?
>"Three Shadows"
>"Sisters"
What the frick was wrong with the Shadow Sirens?
