Grim Dawn is basically the best ARPG currently available after the recent update.
They fixed pretty much everything.

too bad the gameplay is still boring
They fixed it.
My issue with it is inherently unfixable, since I just don't like the Titan Quest/Grim Dawn level up and skill system. It's a me problem. That and it feels like ass in multiplayer, but so did Titan Quest.
i think the new built in mobillity solves alot of early pacing.
>worse sound design than diablo 2
>worse monster design than diablo 2
>cutscenes are nowhere near as good as diablo 2
just because grim dawn has more in it, doesn't mean it'll ever be as good as diablo 2
Honestly I tried D2 again after playing GD and GD is better in every way kek. D2 feels clunky as frick, the environments are lifeless, and the loot + combat doesn't get any good until level 50. Slotted items are a shit concept, just let the player put attachments in any item. Dual class tree + devotions are way more interesting than D2's basic systems and because of that GD is much more fun to build a character in.
Either dangerously deluded of just high effort baiting.
What u guys playing in the new update?
I got myself a Storm totem guy, converting everything to vitality damage, it's pretty neat so far.
I started up a pure pets guy but I never tried one and now I'm just wondering if my pets will straight up get deleted on higher difficulties. Is it viable into ultimate? Necro/occultist
Pet build is very viable in Ultimate if you spec heavily into it with all the devotion and gear you can find.
oh that sounds sick, if u grab the raven and take storm spirit for it, that can carry pet resistances untill ultimate pretty much. Pets with resistances and without are like night and day.
sweet thanks, carrying on with the pets then
This was my endgame pet build from a couple years back (I quit Grim Dawn after reaching 2k hours on it)

so just a turbocharged briarthorn? i'm going for quantity
Pure warrior. I always avoided him but he's way more fun than I expected, the skills have an interesting synergy and I'm always comboing mobs.
>What u guys playing in the new update?
GD is easily the best ARPG on the market and has been for a lengthy amount of time.
>he doesn't spam throw shit on defeated enemies
Theres no difference between endgame and starting out look at this
The game looks the same regardless of where you are in it.
I agree.
It;s the best feeling arpg since diablo 2. At least from the ones that I've tried.
That said, I'm more of a crpg guy, so there's that.
look at how engaging this game is
The point is he's literaly throwing shit because he got the shit-stained pants.
>They fixed pretty much everything
They made a new game that doesn't feel like I'm playing Titan Quest?
Did they make it not boring
Yes
>ARPG
What does this even mean?
Anti-RPG
Action Role Playing Game, called such because it plays full-action whereas normal RPGs are traditionally turn-based
Yeah, there's an evade + bosses can apply a "sunder" debuff that all but guarantees death if you try to facetank while affected by it.
>t. Quit in early act 2
Role Playing Game
>Diablo-like
>Action
lmao
It means ARPG
don't look too deep into genre terminology, it's all moronic
Did they fix the combat boiling down to a passive autoattack fest?
Armor sets all still look bad, as do characters. And everything is a piano build
>piano build
PoE swine when they need to press more than one button to clear
Yeah, grim dawn builds are boring spammable builds mostly too. says a lot about poe..
If you need to spam and rotate 6 different skills every trash pack it's bad
i dont like the aesthetics and setting
titan Quest 2 waiting room
Unfortunately TQ2 is being made by a no-name studio, not even Nordic.
I haven't played the new meme roll update but I dont think even that can salvage how absolutely boring the classes are.
>which color of line, circle, or cone would you like to play today?
>gimme some of that yellow-orange, computer, i'm feeling spicy. Make it a line.
>decide to do my first playthrough blind
>oh demolitionist looks fun
>oh soldier looks tough
>end up using fire strike and a bunch of soldier passives
>got to the end of ultimate before my shit damage and gear did me in
>recently went back and respecced the character into cadence instead of fire strike
>damage doubled
what did they fix?
tried like a year ago and got bored basically holding lmb using a gunner build
i didnt chose the build because it was OP, i just like archery/gunner/ranged types of characters
>what did they fix?
A lot of stuff.
Perhaps the most significant is dodge.
And game looks much better now because you can turn off the fog.
literally nothing. they added a dodge button (wow!!!) and replaced potion items with potion buttons (it didn't matter anyway). it's still the exact same game.
Those movement relics they introduced with Forgotten Gods, is it true they do not change the Space bar dodge? I thought that was the whole point of them.
Is internal trauma strong as frick or am I misreading it?
Is it balanced by being hard to stack and focus on?
How are you reading it?
That it deals tons of irresistible damage, basically, even if it's spread over 5 seconds or something like that.
I don't believe any damage is completely "irresistable", in terms of what you can put out, and enemies, like yourself, have resistances. The only damage in the game you can't do much about is aetherfire on the ground and that's mainly because it does a %-based amount of damage ticking. Either way, there are builds for Phys/IT if that's what you're interested in. My melee 2H phys guy is strong.
Is Internal Trauma just a phys damage dot then?
Weirdly I can see specific internal trauma damage modifiers in my character statistic's, but no such a thing as as internal trauma resistance, and it's supposed to ignore armor or something like that, right?
Does the game make a distinction between physical resistance from different sources for different damages?
>Is Internal Trauma just a phys damage dot then?
Yep.
Yeah, all damage types have a dedicated resistance including physical but physical is also lowered by mitigation. Mitigation is treated as the main source of physical resistance while straight % physical resistance is rare. Internal trauma, being the DoT version of physical, ignores mitigation, so it usually does more damage than anything else.
Doesn't apply to enemies, of course.
what class do i pair with Demolitionist? i like the grenade skill but i have a lot of downtime due to the cooldown
Oathkeeper is p good
Arcanist for pure magic support if you want to spam demo abilities like grenades.
ywnbpoe
thank god for taht
Not even poe is poe anymore
i've rerolled from acid retal sentinel and now i'm officially auragaygin
feels really good blowing shit up just by walking past it
The update looks very good, though I'm not sure about the inclusion of a dodge button. Defense Ability already exists as a stat, so it's odd to me for there to be both an active dodge and an abstracted passive dodge. Anyway, I'll wait for the expansion before getting back into it.
After playing for a couple hours after months of not touching the game, I can say that It's pretty nice having a baseline active movement ability that can be used not just for dodging but to throw yourself into the fray.
Can I make a necromancer that focuses around summon skelebros? Is it any good? Skeletons in Diablo 4 suck ass.
Pet classes are decently strong in the game.
Cool, I might actually get the game when the new DLC comes out then. I know you pick two classes so what else do you pair with the Necromancer? I want my skelebros to kill all demons.
Occultist is generally the class that pairs best with necro for summoning builds.
Just check out what different classes have and choose one yourself. I think you can figure out what will work well with necromancer and suits you.
Grim Dawn is a normal ARPG, it's not Poe so it's pretty hard to create something straight up awful unless you're trying to do it on purpose.
>Can I make a necromancer that focuses around summon skelebros? Is it any good?
Yes and yes
But you need dlc for necromancer
Don't mind me I have no idea what the frick to play
Soldier+anything is a good starter build.
A Warlock eh.
>They fixed pretty much everything.
Oh yeah? So 75% of the builds aren't just "do more damage on every nth hit" and are actually fun?
Sounds like you only played auto attack builds and are complaining about your own choices really. Play a pet build, or a caster or something. Those are fun at least for me
tell me which class(s) is the most fun to play, I tried guns, it's boring, magic, it's boring, summons, frick me
give me something good and fun
What's your idea of a fun build?
I'm a simple man.
I'm having fun with an auto attack build that has two skills, a small AoE that stun opponents, and a skill that makes me invulnerable for a couple of seconds and heal me.
I also walk around with four immortal summons that are not all that powerful by themselves but they can proc some pretty strong skills that I attached to their attacks.
Does that sound fun to you?
What do you enjoy playing?
Maybe hack n slash just arent for you.
what's the difference between hacking and slashing? seems sorta redundant. why no love for stabbing or thrusting?
It's called Grim Yawn for a reason folks
>folks
yall folx
>folks
If only there was anything else to roll other than Elementalist. All other classes lack something, be it health regen or resist reductions. Nightblade spells are super low damage compared to Shaman's. Occultist has the gayest class theme of any ARPG, letting yourself literally be possessed by some npc dude. It's so frustrating.
Girl here
How is the story? Any husbando
looks shit fomo
