Red Dead Redemption 2 released 5 years ago and still holds the record for best graphics of all time. It will only be broken by GTA VI, another Rockstar game. So you can expect GTA VI to be dethroned only by RDR3 or GTA VII.
Are you guys seriously in belief that no other company will ever be able to match or exceed this in 10 years time?
Nobody exceeded RDR2 in 5 years so why should we expect any company to exceed GTA VI? Other developers are lazy and/or incompetent and do not know how to make such mind-blowingly impressive games as Rockstar.
Considering that no company cares or is competent enough to try, yeah I'm pretty sure they'll stand alone. It isn't 2008 anymore, the diversity hires can't innovate.

graphics isn't what will make RDR2 age well, it's the beautiful art design, people mistake it for realism when it really isn't going for realism.
GTAVI is the same, not as beautiful though but its still not a photorealism type. R* has very good art designers that know what they're doing
This. RDR2 imitates a painting. Honestly alot of what carries it is the incredible lighting engine, and going off your webm it looks like the lighting is on par if not better than RDR2.

Gran Turismo 7 looks significantly more real than any other game out there except for maybe Flight Simulator which literally uses photos of reality for most of its rendering. So it barely counts.
Is this a case of AAA devs backing themselves into a corner with more demanding games? I'd imagine making a game now would be much more of a pain compared to previous gens.

Considering Rockstars game release schedule, I'll expect RDR3 in the next 15-20 years, and GTA 7 about another 20-25 years after that

bro we had "Realistic Graphics" for like 7 years. It's the animation / physics that makes or breaks, thankfully, R* are on top when it comes to those.
