I'm gonna cum, I wanted to play this for so long, but not bad enough to actually BUY it. whew we are eating spectacularly bros, epic, absolutely epic game.
anyone who isn't sure about this should give it a try, great little game, maybe not for you if you're exhausted by capeshit, but its simple, fun, and short
This. Its not incredible and I ran into some bugs when I played it, wish there was more meat to the gameplay.
But the party bantz were pretty good and wandering around the ship between missions was comfy. Reminded me of mass effect in that regards.
The story was also surprisingly solid and I had a few legit moments where I felt something.
Starlord's mom's dumptruck ass in 80's high waisted mom jeans is the real star of the show though.
unironically the indies are better because i actually play them. they are interesting and unique and actually trying.
feeling like I get "value" for being gifted a AAA game doesn't mean a lot because it's typical western slog. third person fetchathlon with bullet sponges and millennial writing.
Wasn't their choice. They weren't owned by Square Enix at the time. Now they are and with the announcement of that transfer it was said Eidos wanted to work on Deus Ex or Thief again. There's a good chance we could see an announcement by the end of the year unless SE are being c**ts. We all want more Eidos Deus Ex. They did a pretty damn good job picking up the pieces where the originals left off. Obviously it's not the same, but they did a good job. One of my favorite series to date. I really hope something good comes out of it.
Best capeshit game of the last few years. Great story. Isn't long and bloated and while combat isn't that great it gets out of the way pretty easily.
It will be a very long time before Eidos Montreal works on their own projects again because they are working as a support studio for Microsoft at the minute (So far job listings have suggested they are helping on Fable and Perfect Dark). Speculation is Microsoft will likely buy them and Crystal Dynamics off Embracer at some point this year or next year depending on how bad the financial situation at Embracer is. Will be a very, very long time before they get back to Deus Ex.
It's a really good game, but pirate it instead. You're not missing out on anything by doing so, there are no online features.
Probably a lot smaller filesize too since the pirated version will cut out the useless language files.
Remember to thank Timmy to make it morally justified to pirate since he's already paid for your copy.
Having now actually played a few of the EGS free shit, I regret not taking the games sooner. I didn't start collecting them until the 2020 Christmas games so I missed some of the bigger giveaways.
I found a good amount of anons praising this game, but you can't really trust them because lots of bad games suddenly turned "acceptable" or "good" after Tim gave them. kek
Well when your entire strategy is giving out a bunch of free shit to get people to build up a library and actually consider using Epic and eventually buying more games....
Yeah I'm thinking a few games like spiderman would go further than a lot of games like the fricking official Drone Racing League video game and all the other shovelware they're so graciously giving out.
Another part of the tactic is to give people games on their platform that have DLC so they will go "Well I already own this on Epic, so I won't buy it on Steam."
And yes you have people who will think this way and will buy the DLC on Epic.
It becomes a snow ball and they get more comfortable with purchasing things on that platform.
You are half right. That would help you stay using it IF they actually tried to provide a good service. Right now it feels they are trying to bribe you. They didn't put half the effort Steam already did in their store. It's just sad. I'll take the homes, though, but I ain't buying shit until they make an effort.
This game was actually pretty good, great, even, for capeshit, up until the last 30 minutes, then it just shat the bed. What the actual frick, it's like all the writers just quit and they had to wrap everything up quickly to finish the game.Basically after they defeat Raker everything after that felt like a different game altogether, the animation felt choppy and the writing felt dumber, the whole walk of pride with everyone dancing next to them and all of their "friends" showing up to tell them how amazing they are, I thought for sure we're gonna discover that it's another promise in Peter's head or something because it was so cheesy and too good to be true type of scene that i was shocked that it wasn't. And Nikki is completely ignored even tho she was the driving force of the whole adventure. She has firey red hair now, no one gonna talk about that? what exactly is she now? like, zero acknowledgment to what she's been through and she just laughs it off as if people haven't died because of her. Complete and utter disappointment, what an absolute letdown.
Unironically a good game that felt more like the comics than the MCU stuff. Gamora was treated as the bratty sister of the group and actually didn't want Peter's dick.
This december we got >Guardians of the Galaxy >A plague tale >ghostrunner >saints row reboot >outer worlds >ghostwire >a bunch of destiny 2 paid content
Aren't these like at least 400 dollars worth at full price? How the frick can Epic still afford to give all of this out for free?
Quality wasn't what I was talking about. I was just saying that compared to average indie slop egs gives you throughout the year this time they gave away a bunch of games that are or have been at 60$.
Read the reporting on the public filings from the Epic vs Apple case. They are spending peanuts on these games. >Discovered by journalist Simon Carless, the document shows Epic Games paid for at least 38 titles with a total spend of roughly $11.6 million USD. It seems, however, that this massive investment is paying off. Over five million new users have signed up to the store as a result, which can be thought of as the equivalent to paying $2.37 USD for acquiring each new user. Epic Games takes has a 12-percent commission rate for any purchases a user makes in a game. For some perspective, this means Epic would theoretically be able to make back the budget if each of the 5 million newly acquired users spends just $20 USD.
https://hypebeast.com/2021/5/epic-games-paid-11-6-million-usd-on-free-games-and-acquired-5-million-new-users
>For some perspective, this means Epic would theoretically be able to make back the budget if each of the 5 million newly acquired users spends just $20 USD.
That's a big "if". Epic releases yearly recaps and the last one showed that the average monthly-active user spends $5 per year or so on 3rd party games.
Check out the sureddit. The amount of people who redeem games that are just indians is crazy. Then they spend like 1 dollar on some AAA game and call themselves big spenders but even that's rare.
Not sure about Witchfire, but anon, watch some reviews on Lords of the Fallen.
There's some strong criticism aimed at it. The devs are supposedly fixing, but god knows for how long
I'm going to be honest, I have a Epic account almost comparable to my Steam account and I've spent around 15€ in one (Journey, Ghostrunner and Hades) and 400€ in the other.
If you're talking about Escape Academy, it's one of the few I've bothered play. I've been a sucker for those since the fricking original Escape the Room game on Flash
You're not wrong about the art style, but it also seems disjointed with the game itself. I'm guessing they bought all the assets and paid some Tumblr person to make the 2D portraits. I just like escape games, I don't give two shits about the "story" or characters.
i shouldn't have to
they went out of their way to include vintage costume unlockables for every single character except gamora. i can only interpret this as spite.
It's obscene how much dialog there is in this game with banter going off for every single side path you can possibly take. I had to not sprint everywhere so I could hear everything. It's very pretty visually too, definitely worth turning ray tracing on for.
I've redeemed over 200 games on EGS. Many of them I've already had or played. I still haven't installed or launched a single game through EGS. I haven't played a single free game they have given away. Yet, I keep redeeming them every time there's a free game available. Why? Even I don't know why.
I think it's very funny how disrespectful the team is towards Quill. I know people always complain about that in media but I always like it when the leader is kind of struggling to wrangle a crew of people who don't really respect or trust them and has to work extra hard to manage a bunch of crazy buttholes.
I've had the pirated version for like 6 months and haven't bothered finishing it yet. I guess I'll use this one assuming it has some updates
Did they ever fix the boot thruster effects not lining up on alternate costumes? probably not I assume they didn't care
Thank you for the free games Uncle Tim!
finally a good game
WHERE IZ MY GTA 5 AHHHHHHHHHH
I WANT REDEMMING AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
GIV RDR2 YOU OWN ME EPIC GAMES
>WHERE IZ MY GTA 5 AHHHHHHHHHH
they gave it away like a year ago

EGS and ESG, a match made in heaven
I did hear this one is actually good though, so thanks Tim
Played it centuries ago. Its actually a great game and deserves your money.
unironically the indies are better because i actually play them. they are interesting and unique and actually trying.
feeling like I get "value" for being gifted a AAA game doesn't mean a lot because it's typical western slog. third person fetchathlon with bullet sponges and millennial writing.
unironically a really good game. shouldn't really be considered a capeshit game, just a really good action game. plus the dog is actually a male.
>unironically a really good game
based uncle tim
still mad they made this instead of a follow up to mankind divided
Wasn't their choice. They weren't owned by Square Enix at the time. Now they are and with the announcement of that transfer it was said Eidos wanted to work on Deus Ex or Thief again. About as capeshit as Mass Effect
>About as capeshit as Mass Effect
200%?
Probably the most soulful slop recently. Yes it's slop but you can tell someone clearly gave a shit when making this game.
It's shit though
I watched two gameplay videos and Starlord doesn't stop talking. It's a quip or something "funny" every fricking ten seconds.
>this is what butthurt Marvel-haters actually believe
0/10, cry moar
wat
I'm not saying that the game's bad, just that this part in particular made me roll my eyes.
imagine defending marvel "humor" lmao
Nice canned non-argument, Black person
Just a part of modern game design.
>epig store
hard pass thanks
>refusing free gifts
Aren't you going to enter heaven, the palace of our Lord Jesus Christ?
its free on torrent
>Free
It's not free as long as I have to sign up for EGS to claim it.
You can just claim it to your account and then maintain a backup offline. It's the morally correct option.
The morally correct option is to just pirate the game. You lose if you make an EGS account.
i hate capeshit but this was actually a pretty fun game so enjoy it Black folk

Thanks, Timbo.
no way gay, i aint installing your launcher Xim
if it isn't marvel heroes why bother
you couldn't pay me to play this slop
Not even ten million dollars?
nah, more fun in suicide at that point
I mean I got Outer Worlds so that'll be fun to play when I get around to it.
>Outer Worlds
>fun
I like Fallout New Vegas and I wasn't planning on ever buying Outer Worlds so I'll probably end up liking it at the very least.
the story is better than like 95% of marvel movie releases.
also rocket is a fricking butthole through the whole game
>also rocket is a fricking butthole through the whole game
Shame. He's my favorite character.
I have nothing to play on Epic.
Play Mortal Shell. It's really short.
You can buy cyberpunk and the dlc for 35. Or just pirate it.
I pirated it. I hear the new avatar farcry clone is good.
>Storage
>80GB
Fricking hell.
have you not played AAA slop this past half decade? That's a totally normal filesize now
Largest game I installed was Divinity OS2. It has like almost 60GB. I mostly play "old" games.
Gotta love the Timster, you just gotta
Having now actually played a few of the EGS free shit, I regret not taking the games sooner. I didn't start collecting them until the 2020 Christmas games so I missed some of the bigger giveaways.
yeah, stupid not to claim them
every single lara game the gave away can't be modded. why the frick would I want these free shit then
You can get banned on Steam too by modding a game.
Timbo is never gonna get me to make an account but I'll pirate these games anyway.
I've heard this one was actually good, does it include all dlc?
Only the base game AFAIK.
And this
>Buying the digital version of the game will unlock the Social-Lord Outfit for Star-Lord.
Yeah I thought there was some story dlc expansion thing, but it's only costumes and they seem to be included in this as well, thanks Anon.
>missed escape academy
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Keep an eye out and maybe they'll repeat it being free? They did so with Fallout 3.
It looked so shit that I skipped it.
Is it a good game or just typical marvel slop with thinly veiled political propaganda?
I found a good amount of anons praising this game, but you can't really trust them because lots of bad games suddenly turned "acceptable" or "good" after Tim gave them. kek
Its a good game, and have really funny moments.
It's probably the least brainwashy modern AAA game I've played.
They're closer to the comic book version of the guardians than the movies incorporating more of the marvel cosmic stuff.
The fact we even have to worry about propaganda is depressing
thanks, you saved me having to open egs
Unironically a good movie game, but pirate it instead
why tf arent they giving away the first spiderman? or at least the miles morales dlc or whatever
>why are they not giving away one of the most critically acclaimed late 2010s/early 2020s games of all time?
yeah but that will incentive people to buy spiderman 2. so its good business
They gave away GTA V. Anything else.is small time compared to that
Well when your entire strategy is giving out a bunch of free shit to get people to build up a library and actually consider using Epic and eventually buying more games....
Yeah I'm thinking a few games like spiderman would go further than a lot of games like the fricking official Drone Racing League video game and all the other shovelware they're so graciously giving out.

I have to use playnite to keep up with what games I have on different platforms to avoid shit like this
You are half right. That would help you stay using it IF they actually tried to provide a good service. Right now it feels they are trying to bribe you. They didn't put half the effort Steam already did in their store. It's just sad. I'll take the homes, though, but I ain't buying shit until they make an effort.
Tim ran out of money. It's over, freebiebros.
God dammit Tim! Just give us the game all us pirates want to play! AHHHHHH!
>missed Outer Worlds by minutes because I missed remembering the timezones
dunno why I'm salty, I never played the epic games anyway
Damn, I remember playing this on Xbox pass, it was good shit.
Thanks Tim.
You're welcome.
it's not worth the cost of giving more of my data to the Chinese
>he thinks he can stop his data from being harvested
It's being done to you right now
Snakebird was the only good game this year
Melvor Idle
Bloon DT
I need to stop buying games, they're all given away for free at some point anyways.
>Guardians of the goyslop
>marvelsloppa
yeah frick off
Reminder that this thing is to blame for what happened to SnK.
Qrd? Oh, wait, I suppose you're talking about the film franchise, not the game, and about Shingeki no Kyojin, not the actual game company
This year's selection has been terrible. DNF Duel was the only one I bothered to download.
>last free EGS game of 2023
>not available until 1/4/2024
farting on my balls

pretty good space opera game actually, wouldn't mind seeing a sequel with more alien babes

Honestly, a lot of the games that they gave away are ones that flopped or ones that are getting a sequel soon or have gotten one recently.
and yet none of those are games i actually want to play, even for free
the reason they can afford it is because those games are fricking slop
Should I?
Not sure about Witchfire, but anon, watch some reviews on Lords of the Fallen.
There's some strong criticism aimed at it. The devs are supposedly fixing, but god knows for how long
They should give away Gollum
kek
They probably will eventually. I'm sure of it.
The pirated versione is a mess hope this one is better
It has Denuvo, though.
this game was a pretty good youtube watch, is it fun to play?
Yup, it's fun
I almost bought this at the start of the sale
But then say the GG.deals leak
I'm going to be honest, I have a Epic account almost comparable to my Steam account and I've spent around 15€ in one (Journey, Ghostrunner and Hades) and 400€ in the other.
I will now bu- play GOTG for free.
Shame the game has no mods
Melvor Idle was the worst game the gave. Even that homosexual game they gave, Academy Something, is more of a game.
If you're talking about Escape Academy, it's one of the few I've bothered play. I've been a sucker for those since the fricking original Escape the Room game on Flash
Sorry I'm not part of the rainbow people like you.
I wish I didn't claim it.
The art style makes me sick.
You're not wrong about the art style, but it also seems disjointed with the game itself. I'm guessing they bought all the assets and paid some Tumblr person to make the 2D portraits. I just like escape games, I don't give two shits about the "story" or characters.
>no cheevos
Might as well pirate
Hi bambi350
Is it actually good though?
Its really good, you can't go wrong, funny and more, it was a great surprise for me.
how long can I redeem it for?
19 hours.
This is the last 24-hour free games for the season, so it'll be free until the 11th.
>Storage: 80 GB available space
whyyyyyyyy
Delete Hogwarts Legacy and you can replace it with this.
Don't say you don't have HL on your PC.
good game
Awesome! Can't wait to never play it and buy it on Steam in a year for $10
20 Minutes til Dawn has been fun.
needs abatap FoP crossover
You wouldn't leave Gamora hanging, would you anon?
It's a pretty fun game.
>bendis era mass effect armor gamora
i would in fact leave her hanging.
imagine
i shouldn't have to
they went out of their way to include vintage costume unlockables for every single character except gamora. i can only interpret this as spite.
ethics department and ESG financers aren't going to allow half-naked women. The game has naked and half-naked men though
you serious? even capcom included that costume in MvCI, and that game was the epitome of MCU forced synergy!
closest they got was her black vortex costume but they still made it look dumpy. and they didn't even try to make it look like space.
looks like she aged 10 years with that on
I hate how they just made her Kristen Stewart.
i'm surprised, she doesn't look comically ugly
She looks much better in motion. The stills of her all look weird to me.
This was made by the same people that did the new Deus Ex games by the way. This is what they've been doing instead of finishing the Jensen trilogy.
>finishing the Jensen trilogy
you have to let go
frick I need to open the launcher killing myself
>expecting ANYTHING FREE to be good

It's obscene how much dialog there is in this game with banter going off for every single side path you can possibly take. I had to not sprint everywhere so I could hear everything. It's very pretty visually too, definitely worth turning ray tracing on for.
Sex with Gamora
I agree.
Can't believe I thought about buying this and it's free now.
can you think about elden ring next?
Sorry, anon. I think about it everyday and it's not coming.
does anhbody have a list of what was gifted this time? i think so far the most interesting ones is the complete version of outer worlds, and dnf duel.
I've redeemed over 200 games on EGS. Many of them I've already had or played. I still haven't installed or launched a single game through EGS. I haven't played a single free game they have given away. Yet, I keep redeeming them every time there's a free game available. Why? Even I don't know why.
literal goyslop
there's a reason i don't use my epic account anymore
>more flopped shovelware
I bought it for like $20 about a year ago and it felt worth it at that, it's definitely worth playing for free, enjoy it homies
Welp, can't complain for a free game on top of my EGS free games pile.
Alright you frickers, took the plunge, these 80gb better be worth it
They are worth it, no doubt about that, enjoy the game, bro.
Weak lineup this year, but I've got like 350 free games on Epic, can't complain.
I think it's very funny how disrespectful the team is towards Quill. I know people always complain about that in media but I always like it when the leader is kind of struggling to wrangle a crew of people who don't really respect or trust them and has to work extra hard to manage a bunch of crazy buttholes.
I bought this for PS5 and I think it's trash. Too much talking and cutscene shit, not enough gameplay.
I've had the pirated version for like 6 months and haven't bothered finishing it yet. I guess I'll use this one assuming it has some updates
Did they ever fix the boot thruster effects not lining up on alternate costumes? probably not I assume they didn't care
>that whole (Don't Fear) the Reaper segment
Kino. Also Drax is such a fricking bro in this game
