i got to level 80 and now i dont know what to do (was with friend but most of the time was spent solo because we spawned at different part of world)
i like the game but i dont think you'll have that much fun doing everything solo and nobody to talk to
WvW and PvP is cool, although i didnt quite understand WvW, just followed others
Last time i played WvW it had devolved into forming a huge blob of players and moving in a blob onto an enemy blob with the purpose of glitching the server. Compared to retail GW2 with players spliting up and skermishing at bridges and choke points it's completely dialed in I wonder if the devs ever fixed it.
Just got into it a month ago and am having a good time. Seems well put together and doesn't have the bullshit most MMOs do. And I don't even like MMOs.
Bought the first two expansions for $15, have one character, don't feel like I need much more.
>Seems well put together and doesn't have the bullshit most MMOs do. And I don't even like MMOs.
As someone who loved my time with GW2, I think this sums it up. It's a great game for casual/semi-casual PvE play and getting 100% completion is actually fun and interesting (especially if you do PoF to unlock some mounts first), but if you're looking for some super deep MMO experience you probably won't find it here.

As someone who played GW1 i just can't stand what they did to it. Guild Wars was one of the coolest settings in western fantasy games and they just shat it up with gay bullshit. I played the beta. They promised no "kill 10 rat quests" when renown hearts are literally just that. The level scaling was abysmal. The story was ass that revolved around their gay plant OCs. Things were massively simplified from GW1. Minion master necros are nowhere near as fun. No secondary professions. The fact that, for quite awhile, living world shit was temporary content was one of the stupidest ideas ever.
>They promised no "kill 10 rat quests" when renown hearts are literally just that.
which were added because people were too moronic to handle dynamic events. I remember this specifically from the beta.
that's odd, i remember dynamic events that were broken in beta were still broken for years in what is called the core game. some probably still are.
does that dead shark still float where that one point was lol?
that cow launcher was fixed and broke so many times hahaha
I was hoping the thread would die, but I guess my mistake in neglecting my duty.
No, you don't want to play this game. The devs just dropped a class "balance" patch the community didn't want, promised to change it, didn't, and then laughed at the players, the people paying for their product, in discord. Then had the gall to announce an expansion, literal subversion tactics. Raids haven't been updated since Path of Fire (now two expansions ago) PvP is a shitfest with Anet taking the side of RMT for a cut, artificial gem price manipulation and countless ex-employees reported a toxic workplace.
solo is fine but on certain parts of the day you might have to wait for population to wake up and do world evens with you
goal for you probably should me maxing out crafting for whatever class you play and crafting orange(?) gear and then ascended
You mean the announced one? It's basically $5 cheaper for half the effort put into it. Not to mention ANet has been half-assing expansions for years since they release a good chunk of said expansion after release in the form of new Living Story.
I think its fun if you take it really slow. Jumping puzzles alone are a blast, and so is the world exploration. I wish fractals and dugneons weren't dead content
It's worth it if you go in with the proper expectations. You're not going to get that old school MMO experience out of it, but if you play it semi-casually and frick around with some PvP you will get a lot of bang for your buck.
The things it does well it does better than any other MMO on the market, but the things it stinks at really stand out as well. Game is in a much better state now than it was when it launched, don't listen to other salty anons.
>it's been 10 years, many of the people who used to work there are gone
Thankfully this has been the case for every studio and game within the last ten years, so its pretty par for the course
>Is it worth getting into?
No. But depending on how bad your taste is and where yoyr priorities lie - the answer may change. >solo
Can solo the entirety of the main story and most of open world besides a rare world boss or a champion event boss (unless you're above the absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of skill and character building, which 99.9% of the playerbase isn't). Raids are team only, dungeons are highly adviseable to do in a group (though almost nobody actually does those), fractals (shorter, shittier dungeons) should be done in a party as well.
>WoW isnt good enough anymore to warrant a sub fee >FF14 combat is awful >ESO is more interested in updating the cash shop than fixing the plethora of issues with the game Combat is also awful >GW2 tries to sell you a glorified living season story as an expansion
There's nothing, literally nothing good.
some things I remember:
karma trains
orichalcum farming via server hopping (when it was free)
people going insane when they found out you had to go to PvP areas for map achievements
legendaries tied to broken events
old LA
I play semi-actively, but pretty much solo. Every time I've joined a guild, all communication is done through discord and not the guild chat. I think it's lame, I don't want to join a discord, I prefer talking to people in-game. I wonder if it's the same in other MMOs.
Yes. Mainly because people want to stay in contact even when they're not playing the game at the moment, or they're playing something else. It's a weird way to be connected 24/7.
>mfw Charr women don't have breasts because over a decade ago character designed mandated either six breasts or none at all, and she was a woman herself
After playing for a while you come to notice that the combat is complete jank. Sustain is low compared to the amount of chip damage enemies do, your dodges are quite limited and enemies will often respawn right on top of you because the respawn rates are unpredictably dialed up and down from 1-11. Enemy attacks are often spammed and telegraphed poorly, or not at all. Targeting for certain abilities is extremely poor and will not hit moving targets while locked on. You are expected to read the windup animations of bosses who are about the same size as you while flashy effects from other players are being layered on top of them, turning them into a multicoloured supernova that oneshots you randomly.
PVP is extremely homosexual due to the Toughness stat not working against Condition damage. I'm not certain why it works this way, because when I was playing Condition DPS trumped Power in almost all cases. Condition damage dealers will kill you in seconds if you don't bring several ways to cleanse them. You are also expected to read ground effects from enemies and other players which blend in to the floor textures.
World vs. world is strange and boring, and mostly geared towards ranged because if you step slightly out of position you die instantly. Two trains of people clash together in a big mess until for whatever reason one of them gets pushed back.
Oh yeah, and most playstyles are based on a set rotation that may be 22 long string of button preses.
This game feels like a F2P game. Like you have to buy so much convenience shit through the gemstore it's not even funny. Meanwhile you had unlimited build templates and everything for free in GW1.
>Is it worth getting into? Is it playable solo?
I think its a pretty good casual game, especially for an MMO. Lots of anons will shit on it, but remember Ganker posters shit on EVERYTHING.

>From level 1 you can use the portals to go to any starter zone
Ffs anon google exists
You write like a victim but you are just moronic
>i got to level 80 and now i dont know what to do
all post-vanilla story unlocks at lvl 80 so that
It's the best f2p MMO but if you are willing to pay a sub there are better options.
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
play it when you feel like it. That is all
virtually every single skin and collectible item is paid. only play the game if you are a storygay or like achievements
Just got into it a month ago and am having a good time. Seems well put together and doesn't have the bullshit most MMOs do. And I don't even like MMOs.

If you think of it as a single player open world RPG, it's pretty good. Living World content is of varying quality, though.
>The story was ass that revolved around their gay plant OCs.
HoT and PoF are much better than the original story, at least.

Do not give them a single dime.
Wish i had seen that video before i bought EoD.
Thanks, your picture sold me the game
solo is fine but on certain parts of the day you might have to wait for population to wake up and do world evens with you

Yes, dps benchmarking in t4 fractal CMs is fun for me
yes
What is this?
its my thief
is the new expansion good?
You mean the announced one? It's basically $5 cheaper for half the effort put into it. Not to mention ANet has been half-assing expansions for years since they release a good chunk of said expansion after release in the form of new Living Story.
theres a reason nobody talks or gives a frick about it.
still have no fricking clue how to play thief
I think its fun if you take it really slow. Jumping puzzles alone are a blast, and so is the world exploration. I wish fractals and dugneons weren't dead content
living world season 2 is such a fricking slog
i will still never forgive the story for sucking off the green cabbage mary sue boring bullshit guy

What is a good site to buy gold for this game?
asking for a friend.
How many servers/regions are there? How difficult is it to play with people from those that aren't in your own?
No.
t. I've played it off and on since beta
Define 'worth getting into', and the story is soloable for the most part.
didn't this game got pozzed asf in the latest expansions?
dead troony game
dont bother its been abandoned by so many devs that have jumped ship its not even funny
is aeattle(Anet) really that bad? they used to be alright.
it's been 10 years, many of the people who used to work there are gone
even before gw2 released they lost some
it was funny when that writer and her white knight got fired because of reddit
>it's been 10 years, many of the people who used to work there are gone
Thankfully this has been the case for every studio and game within the last ten years, so its pretty par for the course
Norn women will FRICK you up.
It's F2P. Just try it.
I remember paying for the part that went F2P
>Is it worth getting into?
No. But depending on how bad your taste is and where yoyr priorities lie - the answer may change.

I've accepted the fact there will never be a good new MMO again. Genuinely a dead genre.

ESO becomes much better if you play it in first-person as god intended, but combat system is still that awful soft tab-targetting system.
>be a random knight
>wreck the frick out of the canonical character trio
>combat
>combat
>combat
>yeah but GW2 story sucks
If you like the combat then play it? Why bring up the story randomly.
if you like what gw2 is peddling you don't really have much choice as there aren't other mmos like it so you're fricked
Just play FFXI or P99
>Is it worth getting into?
Are you a troony or a furgay? Then this game is for you.
some things I remember:
karma trains
orichalcum farming via server hopping (when it was free)
people going insane when they found out you had to go to PvP areas for map achievements
legendaries tied to broken events
old LA
interdasting
What a pos company.
I see the MMO doomers are here, have a good night friends
Can't be a doomer when it's the truth.
Yes it's worth playing
i'm not paying hundreds of dollars for that shit
So, i came back for the new expansion, my guild is pretty dead. The game is alright.
I play semi-actively, but pretty much solo. Every time I've joined a guild, all communication is done through discord and not the guild chat. I think it's lame, I don't want to join a discord, I prefer talking to people in-game. I wonder if it's the same in other MMOs.
It's the same, even for smaller scale online multiplayer games like The Division or Destiny.
Last time i played FF14 the guild i was in talked through both.
Yes. Mainly because people want to stay in contact even when they're not playing the game at the moment, or they're playing something else. It's a weird way to be connected 24/7.
Ability to belong multiple guilds means guilds can die more easily as your identity isn't as tied to just one.
Femcharr wifes.

oh you

You can buy everything with gold
t. haven't spent a single $ on gems
Time wise it's more efficient to buy gold
Time-wise it's also more efficient to rob a bank than have a regular job. Are you robbing banks, anon?
>Is it worth getting into? Is it playable solo?
I think its a pretty good casual game, especially for an MMO. Lots of anons will shit on it, but remember Ganker posters shit on EVERYTHING.
I’m debating between Guild Wars 2 and New Worlds. Which one is better?
the one you enjoy playing.
Arenanet a year ago: We will do smaller expansions
Ganker: WTF, they are trying to scam you into smaller expansions!
