What makes it good or better than anything else?
Horizontal progression
It makes content from 10 years ago still viable and worth playing and as a result there aren't any empty maps. No matter where you go you will see people playing. The world is alive instead of all players being in a few certain areas like other mmo's
What does horizontal progression mean exactly in this game though? What makes people play content from 10 years ago?
The level cap never went past what it was in the base game and gear you got 10 years ago is still as good as it is today
Instead of grinding for better stats and levels (vertical progression) in gw2 you have the mastery system that only gives you more options and content to play the game.
You can go on a break from playing for a few years, come back and you are still able to do all endgame with your current gear because it's still viable. In the 2 years you were gone the game added new gameplay mechanics you can unlock
this sounds really lame. In a game like WoW you get better gear to do harder content and you progress through the game. it keeps bad players from doing hard content and keeps the game fresh. GW2 sounds like it is made for babies
because it is
you can grind BiS without stepping foot into a single piece of "real content" and stay at BiS forever. there is no filter for bad players, everyone is wearing the same gear so you can't tell.
>you get better gear to do harder content
Doesn't WoW no scale with the player now? Kinda defeats the purpose of grinding better gear.
Just the opposite, the hard content you can do is based and limited on your skill as a player, because anyone can be fully end game geared in five minutes.
You have to be carried by "know what you're doing" instead of be carried by "bigger numbers".
A babby could spend their time or money grinding better gear, and the better gear will help them do harder content, you can't get helped by numbers/ gear in GW2.
I still don't really understand how exactly this works, so excuse me for the many questions.
It sounds good on paper, but I don't get what makes people keep playing it the gear they got 10 years ago is still the best.
What exactly are those more "options" and what kind of content are we talking about? New raids and such, that you can do with the gear you farmed 10 years ago? Wouldn't you clear that super fast and you are back to nothing to do? What is this mastery system and why does it make people keep playing? Sounds very confusing.
The gear from 10 years ago has the same stats as gear gained today. They're the same tiers so the stats are the same. The mastery system gives you more gameplay mechanics such as a glider, mounts, map specific mechanics. Once you unlock these there are more areas and content to explore
When a new expansion drops, they usually add some new stat combinations but the overall numbers remain the same. So you might be a healer with good survivabilty but new gear lets you trade off that survivability for better buffs or crits or w/e.
If you play MMOs for the gear treadmill then your a gigahomosexual anyway.
It's not that I'm playing MMOs for the gear threadmill, it's just I don't understand how an MMO works without it. I'm intrigued by a system that doesn't have it.
But as I understand, without gear threadmill, you can just blaze through whatever content they add, since you don't have to take the time to get geared up. So I still don't really see what is it that keeps people playing, especially as I hear PvP is not really a thing.
There's no subscription fee so the intent is that you're not no-lifing the game and just pop on to do new content you missed a d have some fun for a while.
For people who want to no-life content, there are tons of "achievements" that can be gained and Legendary equipment (same stats as the highest tier, just gaudy as frick and a huge time/gold sink).
PvP is dead but WvW (server va server vs server) is very much alive.
Masteries are new skills you can level. You got some new mount and all the experience goes into it and making it stronger or it unlocks additional stuff on new maps. So with new expansion you got like 30 new "levels" to get.
>Wouldn't you clear that super fast and you are back to nothing to do
Lol, no, EoD have no raids and overall is shit expansion, but few bosses in there require to use more than 2 braincells, compared to HoT/PoF raids
>What is this mastery system and why does it make people keep playing
The things that you progress after lvl cap, which are
>Masterlies which entire purpose to give access to craft legendaries
>Masteries that only are useful at few points on HoT maps
>Gliding.
>Mount masteries, each with separate track
>Some irrelevant shit from living story, I honestly forgot what you get there besides few abilites that are shared for every mount
>Fractals exclusive masteries. Useful, if you would ever run fracs
>Arborstone track for EoD, used to be ez money source at the start of expac, irrelevant anymore
>Autobot track from EoD, QoL gimmick, nothing life-changing
>Fishing
>Skiff
That sounds nice, a little refreshing too that you don't have to nolife for gear, yet still have things to do. I might actually check this out.
Probably the same logic of some gachas, were the new drop is just different (cosmetically or in gameplay) but not just straight better.
>Wouldn't you clear that super fast
No. You can have literal party of 10 with legendary gear on everyone and still regularly fail raids. DPS checks are more about your rotation and traits than gear.
Not dying is important and requires a lot of movement and understanding of mechanics. It's also to an extent your party knows mechanics. One person failing mechanics can wipe a party.
>What does horizontal progression mean exactly in this game though?
It means that there's nothing to play for in terms of progressing your character's power. Everyone who plays GW2 is a gay or a troony who plays exclusively to dress up their character with cosmetics, collect mounts and titles, do achievements, do jumping puzzles, and roleplay.
>Everyone who plays GW2 is a gay or a troony who plays exclusively to dress up their character with cosmetics, collect mounts and titles, do achievements, do jumping puzzles, and roleplay.
So add here power grind for %INSERT_CURRENT_PATCH_NUMBER% instead of grinding across all content and you'll get WoW
Honestly, I don't get it HOW, JUST HOW can Blizztards just throw 9/10 of their game in a fricking trash can
Wouldn't it be a genious solution to make every xpac relevant?
Gear is the same, yes, but just for the sake of progress people would run every raid
And for the sake of powergrind you get different set buffs from raids (lmao, BFA and SHL instantly excluded)
there's nothing wrong at looking at piece of content you've spent the last 3 years grinding and going "i am completely and 100% done with this content and never have to look at it again"
if i wanted to play a game for one month every expansion i would just play XIV, if i wanted to grind the same piece of content ad infinitum i would just play korean slop
My point is that I just can't get it, how it is different grinding current patch over&over&over vs grinding everything over&over&over
But with vertical progression you just pile up more useless gigabytes of old and dead content in your game
you can still grind old content for transmogs and other aesthetics/collectibles if you want to
it's literally no deader than GW2's old content
>But with vertical progression you just pile up more useless gigabytes of old and dead content in your game
Yes, it's a gear treadmill. You always have something new to work for. Meanwhile in a horizontal progression game like GW2, you never really have anything to work for, because none of it matters.
>You always have something new to work for
Well, we will see.
Upcoming "expansion" is about to be released
That still would add few boss fights
Or I'll just completely shit my pants of how bad this will be, because MASSIVE red flags been seen long ago
Or will just move back to WvW
You do because every update gives you a new mastery to train. A new mechanic, mount, etc.
>Wouldn't it be a genious solution to make every xpac relevant?
No. Because horizontal progression means that there's nothing to play for. The whole point of MMORPGs is that you build up your character. It would be like trying to make an ARPG where the only loot you get are cosmetics.
>The whole point of MMORPGs is that you build up your character.
That's exactly what horizontal progression also does. You build up your character by giving him more mechanics and options
>That's exactly what horizontal progression also does
Wrong. The whole point of horizontal progression is that a person who started 10 years ago is on the exact same level as a guy who started 10 minutes ago.
>You build up your character by giving him more mechanics and options
See above.
>more mechanics and options
Such as?
Glider, mounts, auto loot, map-specific mechanics, languages so you can talk to other intelligent species, your own personal robot, fishing, etc.
>languages so you can talk to other intelligent species
who the frick plays MMOs to talk to NPCs?
When you learn languages you can trade with npc's and challenge some to a fight. You get better rewards from doing this mastery
But all those masteries you listed take like a week tops to acquire. Then what? Fishing is the most boring thing ever.
You go do something else? If you want something that takes months to grind for I suggest legendary gear
I have all 3 sets of legendary gear. Next?
Have fun and play the game? There are hundreds of things to do. Pick something
Go play meta events
Why would I play something more than a few times for no reward?
Because it's something you enjoy playing? You'd have to be an idiot to continue playing something you hate for virtual trinkets
Grind for those 10 000 gold super rare infusions then idiot
>useless cosmetics
No thanks. I'd rather play a game with real progression.
>games need to have carrots because...THEY JUST HAVE TO, OKAY?!
Kindly have a nice day, carrot Black person.
>the ilvl cap never increases
>all our content is always relevant
do you not realise how contradictory this is?
>who plays exclusively to dress up their character with cosmetics, collect mounts and titles, do achievements, do jumping puzzles, and roleplay.
This literally would be my type of MMO if it weren't for the homosexuals and trannies. I like to think they're there because the devs are filled with them and they write terrible, moronic stories + the core gameplay, style, and graphics are bad. Also, don't believe OP's lies I had a friend who is a homosexual (I still like him as a person but he has such awful taste fricking hell) who got me to try a year ago and nearly all the zones I went to were empty. Even most of the capital cities were fricking empty and unless someone has to for some quest/challenge completion, everyone only hanged out in the human city. The game looks awful and feels awful and is empty everywhere except for the latest content. And I tried it when it came on Steam and was part of a new surge of players. It even has less players now overall (Steam or not). Guild Wars 2 is actually a fricking cult. They are SJWs but when some c**t SJW writer got fired for being too awful even for the dev team they all suddenly turned anti-feminists and even scared Jim Sterling into deleting a video defending her.I have no idea what it is but GW2 is literally some mind controlling entity disguised as a religion disguised as a game and I highly suggest anons here don't touch it. It's not even good.
ngl the only reason gw2 kinda sucks with this ok system is that there is basically no skill you only ever have like maybe 5 attacks.
ahem... full condi mechanist rotation
>pistol 4
>pistol 3
>pistol 2
>shift-2 to switch to grenades, while in pistol 2 animation
>shift-2
>weapon swap
>shift-3 to switch to bombs
>shift-2, shift-3, shift-5
>weapon swap
>shift-5 to swap to mortar
>shift-5
>weapon swap
>shift-2 to nades
>shift-4, shift-5, shift-2
>weapon swap
>relentlessly spam F1-F2-F3 off cd while doing rotation
>repeat and have fun not fricking up the cooldowns
replace "shift" with "skill" accordingly, that's just how I binded
elementalist would be something close too, but I played only condi "summoner variant" so far
nothing screams good game design and endless fun like still grinding the same content 10 years later
You have more options to play whatever you want. Instead of grinding the latest content over and over like in most mmo's in gw2 you have the option to grind anything you like, both old and new content
i can choose between spamming old content that is unfun as shit, or spamming the same content but in a new zone with a new coat of paint?
do gays really?
And yet the "content" is still shit.
It's just a ton of the same random themepark bullshit with no difficulty.
It's a non-MMO.
GW1 is an actual MMO and is 10/10 while GW2 is 1/10.
Here it is. A delusional Ganker anon blinded by its nostalgia who unironically believes gw1 is a 10/10 despite having just as many issues.
GW1 was decent, GW2 is absolute dogshit with a hundred trannies in marvel costumes running in a train facerolling events as they spawn. At least GW1 gameplay and combat evolved with new enemies and skills (although it has stagnated and is unplayable nowadays) while in GW2 every zone and every encounter is exactly the same. I'm not a fan of GW1, but I fricking despise GW2.
Basically you can quit the game and come back 3 years later and your gear is just as good as when you left hence you don't dread coming back.
point 1: you can be a big fluffy char
point 2: it's not grindy and will never be, when you reach endgame there's no gear or power theadmill, you are free to play with whatever build you want and can just enjoy the gameplay you like the most for cosmetic rewards instead of chasing numbers like an autist
point 3: there's no monthly fee, which is honestly the biggest reason for me
>free to play with whatever build you want
except for the self-proclaimed "masters of pve" (read: raidshitters), who'll throw an autistic fit when you do 50 less damage in trade for better healing
raids are a trap for wowcucks, abandoned content
yeah, but homosexuals still treat it like the pinnacle of pve
>show me your gear
>uhm, sweatie? you don't do enough dps for us
>I don't care that you're a healer, go look up a build on metabattle
>what do you mean, you play for "fun"? you can't have fun, you need numbers
lol I out-dps all meta gays with celestial gear, maybe they should have sex
based... condi guardian...?
ranger
a friend of mine plays d/d core ele on celestial. I don't know what kind of black magic he did, but he's borderline unkillable with that build. The change to diamond skin was a heavy nerf, but it's still pretty hard to kill him.
celestial elementalist has always been busted because you have a ton of survivability on top of all the tricks an elementalist can do to get the frick out of trouble, this is why I run celestial gear on pretty much all my builds now and just change up the actual abilities to do different things
min maxing one damage type is always lame anyway
Basically any difficult PvE content is designed for minmaxed gear. Celestial is stat-total the best but since a lot of those stats are toughness and vitality which you don't need for basically any PvE content you're really not doing better than running mixed-damage gear like Viper or Grieving with some Harrier or Seraph mixed in for healing and concentration.
>difficult pve content
lol, raid trannies are funny
>ride the coattails of people who can actually play the game
As expected from a Ganker shitter
cope wowfugee you will never be relevant
eles are just shitting on me in pvp
I'm mostly never using melee builds, so for me playing against ele be like:
>EVADED, EVADED, EVADED, INVULN, INVULN, REFLECT, REFLECT
or just micro damage numbers if I ever get to hit
First of all no you don't
and second of all
>celestial anything
wow it's like i'm back in 2013
cope
>hmm i wonder if the guy who has 40% fewer points in the combat stats will do less dps
>nah, he's BASED so the game just gives it to him
Loving every laugh.
still doing more damage than you downed, oh look you dropped again
oh hey, there's that cope you were talking about
Reality:
>have 2 supports and 2 tanks
>grab 6 literally who from literally where and you're good to go for most of encounters
>it’s not grindy
lol
lmao
it literally isn't
destiny 2 has more gear grind than all of guild wars 2 combined, once you have your ascended set you are done for life..
I’ve been playing on and off since launch (mostly off) and I have not a single legendary item. That shit takes ages to grind out
>legendary
are you deaf or moronic? I said ASCENDED, that's the highest stat, you dont need any legendary gear that's for the aesthetics only you mong
>he doesn’t play fashion wars
ngmi
>fashion
>piece of shit anime gear that looks like shit
you've lost those wars long ago troony
Trans tree people.
grim
Kek, this.
The game was interesting enough for a while but I think besides the new zones the expansions ruined it more and more. That and huge focus on the web shop.
It might be the best mmo option now, but its not great.
I just reached lvl 80 2 days ago.
My condolences to anyone who doesn't play just because or because they think they know what it is without playing it and missing out on the groundbreaking mechanics like the "heart quests".
You almost beat the tutorial. The real game starts in heart of thorns
That's great. I am still at defending the island outside Lion's Arch. But I have bought everything. Not in a rush. The gems are expensive but I bought some too.
Frick the gems, but still better than a subscription.
I'd love to see the fight of claw Island redone with the new design in mind. I absolutely loved that part, actually shed a tear at the end of it, but the gameplay absolutely sucks when compared to newer "big battle"-scenarios
tfw no charr wife
GW2 is actually a great concept, the issue is
>The content is braindead casual and requires 0 braincells to complete almost all of it. This is important because it invalidates most of the fun optimization that could come out of the combat system
>The 2% of content that is actually hard is extremely gatekept similar to higher end raids in WoW
>Classless system was a mistake that they are still trying to bandaid fix
>No real good content flow compared to its competitors, most added content is just stupid collectable crap or living world story, which then leads to:
>story is dogshit past heart of thorns except for maybe one living world season afterwards
>PvP practically abandoned, WvW is unique in the genre but again was just thrown away with almost no development. They then claim they are going to start dev again only to... not
Horizontal progression only works if you actually create worthwhile content. The game died because once people got their level 80 they started looking for the interesting content like WoW to really sink their teeth into the combat system, only they didn't find any
>story is dogshit past heart of thorns
what? the story is dogshit before heart of thorns as well
cabbage jesus and his race of green hippies are a gangrenous tumor on the Guild Wars world
Zaithan boss fight was an insult
>cabbage jesus and his race of green hippies
That's why Heart of Thorns was based. The green hippies turn out to be dragon spawn and you kill cabbage jesus yourself.
But really the entire post-launch story was very much written to fit development. They were clearly ready to be done with Elder Dragons when IBS started since it ends with two of them doing a mutual kill (still mad that we didn't get a Primordus dragon meta even tho there's *3* fricking Jormag dragons in the game) and the last one in Cantha is basically Dragon God going crazy begging you to kill her with no new dragon minions.
Mounts in GW2 are actual mechanics tho. Racing/time trials with Griffons and Beetles is fun as shit and the new expac is about to turn the core flying mount into a part of major combat encounters.
Correct on all fronts except:
>Classless system would be fine if the devs didn't blatantly play favorites with certain jobs.
>Story is dogshit as soon as you leave your race starting area.
OP is right. GW2 is the best mmo you can play despite its massive flaws and having a meme expasion on the way. However all big mmos (WoW, FF14, Lost Ark, etc.) are all utter shit for various reasons so it doesnt mean much.
>story is dogshit past heart of thorns except for maybe one living world season afterwards
What is this dogshit take? Everyone agrees the story gets better after the personal one and reaches its high in PoF and Season 4 but then nosedives beyond recovery.
>PoF
lmao the just and righteous war God is not a cartoon mustache-twirling villain
>LWS4
lmao remember that character you loved back in Nightfall? Our Mary Sue dragon just ate him!
*now
I’ll take Aurene Sue over the world’s middest midboss, thanks.
>mounts
>flying mounts
In the end they all fall.
This is what killed my enjoyment of the game. The original fast travel system was perfect, I loved how it was implemented. You could essentially get anywhere fast, but you still had to run around a bit.
The mounts just trivialize the original zones and also let you "cheat" and break many jumping challenges.
It's just a shame that another game is ruined by mounts, especially when they had promised to never have mounts at all.
why dont you guys play a real MMO like WoW hardcore or are you afraid of getting filtered?
there's nothing hard about killing green mobs until level cap before having your character taken away from you because Blizzard is "getting DDoS we swear" again or some jokester thought it would be hilarious to wipe the entire party because he's quitting the game anyway
> 5 button mmo
> b-but you can switch weapons and such
> still shit
this game is garbage
10 buttons, ~20 skills in total after swapping weapons and activating specialization
>be engineer
>use kits
>get 25 buttons to mash + 5 needed to equip said kits + 5 buttons from weapon + 5 skills from spec kit
>most of kits are shit anyways or been nerfed T_T
I appreciate that you can play the game lazily with only a few buttons but most end-game builds are much more complex as people have pointed out already.
GW2 offers a good bit of flexibility in how you play, another strength.
Elementalist was one of my favourite classes of most MMO's out there
Shame the staff builds were kind of sucky and sword weaver was so much damn work for comparable numbers to other classes but it was a lot of fun nonetheless
i liked the game a half a year ago when i found old cd key for the account. but you have to buy the 100 dollar expansion bundle for the mini stories expansion if you gonna play it for the story. otherwise playing from the base game to major expansion is gonna be filled with plot holes. i might just buy it whenever its on discount.
There was a sale on Steam, so I bought the first two expansions only so I can keep the raptor mount, because I couldn't imagine keeping on going without the mount lol.
If you played HoT with a mount you didn't beat the expansion.
I just remember a post from a FF14 player who said the game gets alot better once you get a mount because you can skip the JPs which are optional to begin with. Do these people even care for challenge? All they want is the dopamine rush they get from the virtual rewards.
gw2's jumping puzzles are dogshit, the tourist is right
Unironically kys. They ooze so much soul. Only a disgusting mmo player wouldnt understand.
if i wanted to play jumping puzzles iw would play a platformer game moron
Yea, no wonder all those mmos are so uncreative and repetitive when this is their adience.
I despise the people who let a mesmer teleport them to the end of a jp. They must hate fun or are too moronic to do a jp
Yea but most of them are doing it "out of goodwill" when in reality they hope they do it out of good will.
>be me
>play mesmer
>put portal at start of JP
>homosexuals expect to come out at the end and jump in en masse
>the portal ends in some enemy high damage AoE, hard cc like knock back, or some other area where you can fall down and die easily
I don't gain xp or lootbags or even money, but the flame and seethe make it worth it.
you can't play mesmer if you don't use it to troll everyone
i leveled a mesmer just to make money carrying shitters to the end of jumping puzzles
the average MMO player is a literal moronic cow waiting to be milked.
FF14 players found a boss walking in a straight line so unbeatable that it had to be removed even after multiple nerfs. Their entire game's development cycle is built around making sure even the dumbest neanderthal can eventually win.
he says in a thread of a game where the main content consists of zergfests
Doesnt matter. Both FF14 and GW2 players deserve more respect than Lost Ark players. Those "humans" are the actual bottom of the barrel.
whataboutism doesn't magically make your game good
I really dont care if you think its a good or not. I just wanted to say they are disgusting players.
They removed Steps of Faith because it was boring post nerfs. You could basically ignore all the tower mechanics and just dps it down. Then replaced it with the much harder single player version.
This. I played HoT last year and didn't get a mount first to experience exploring by gliding. The maps feel different when you come back later with a mount
>Testicular cancer is the best kind of cancer you can get
beat up the bigot
for me, it started to suck after they implemented that fricking "max. 5 targets" on your skills, just because a necro could fear an entire zerg to death in wvw, and homosexuals never bothered to use stability or better yet, look at their damn screen
There is one big flaw for me: sound effects of the skills, all skills, but especially melee.
This. My necromancer abilities make guinea pig noises and greatsword swings sound like banging pans together.
GW2 had the best UI design I've ever seen. Pure comfy fresh feel. Today still. Also, the graphics. Still holds up really really well. Good colors etc.
You're probably right, which is pretty sad. Are MMOs just a doomed genre at this point? It seems like there's the potential for something revolutionary, but it never seems to come.
MMORPGs was the money milking cow of the 00s but people got tired of it and no one really seems to know what to do with the genre anymore.
I'm not paying for your half-baked expansion troony. Buy an add.
The second we named our dragon Jesus baby Aurene, that was when I got pulled out. What a shit fricking name. And when she got aged up just because the narrative needed her to be older I was done.
>all the people ITT unironically defending gear treadmills
I get that GW2 is a homosexual game, but holy shit get some taste.
Guild Wars 2 has a weird camera and feels weird to play compared to any other game
Weird camera? How so? I never heard of this issue or noticed it myself
Yup, it was one of the first things I noticed when I tried it out back on release. The camera movement felt sluggish and slow. It was like there was not only a delay, but also added "weight" to the camera movements for whatever reason.
>overpozzed troon garbage
No thanks.
>only have to pay for expansions, no subscription
>good glamour/transmog system
>doesn't bend over backwards for hardcore players
I'm honestly considering making the move from FFXIV but does it have good overworld content? or large scale PvE areas similar to eureka/bozja?
I tried GW2 a couple times before but never made it past the beginning because I couldn't into the UI/gameplay for whatever reason.
>large scale PvE areas similar to eureka/bozja
don't know what eureka is, but you have raids for example (think of "dungeons" from other games), on newer maps there are frequently map wide events which end in bosses, and there's a train to farm the world bosses basically 24/7
>on newer maps there are frequently map wide events which end in bosses, and there's a train to farm the world bosses basically 24/7
Nice, this sounds like something I'll enjoy
>DUDE dogshit story
>DUDE I don't like the professions
>DUDE combat where I have to move and dodge is not good
>DUDE
I hate complainers so much.
>DUDE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T PLAY IT
>UUHH WAIT NOONE IS PLAYING OUR GAME... G-GUYS? PLS COME BACK???
when real guild content is paywalled no thanks, it was a scam to get you invested, its not f2p is the same like all other shit
it's the best mmo if you're looking for one that won't turn into a second job, that being said i wish pvp would get some more love
>want to play gw2
>tired of my dumb norn main
>want to play something else
>no waypoints
>log out
no I’m not paying money for waypoints
It used to be before they injected it with homosexualry at every turn.
>best mmo
That’s not saying much
Early zones suck now, very shitty design until mid to late leveling, but it's not bad to play. I got it launch day and have hopped on 4 times or so for a couple months each but at the end of the day the design is basically singleplayer that tricks you into believing you're playing socially via the need for zergs. It would benefit from focusing on all elements of the game rather than skins for trannies, because the pvp when balanced is actually fun. If they'd just establish pvp zones that aren't just pvp zerging in circles, it'd be much bigger because every person interested in pvp has no mmo home right now. Albion is a phone game, shut up before you even bother.
Lmao, it's not even the best Guild Wars game you can play
Most that browse this shithole weren't alive when GW 1 released, brother.
>Oh no some irrelevant NPC in lion's arch has flavor text that says they're a troony
>Also these two hot lesbian characters kiss but it doesn't matter because the devs themselves are ugly
GW2 SISTERS IT'S FRICKING OVER
I unironically enjoy the soundtrack composed by Lena Chapelle. Was astonished that a woman could make such a great soundtrack. Than I found out....
They'll never know, anon. Let them wallow in their ignorance.
How much have you spent on gems overall so far?
Man the story content is atrocious i wish they just removed that shit and focused on content and zones
I like it quite a bit.
The quest and event design are fantastic and allow for a lot of freedom in how you progress through the game
The leveling process and exploring the world for the first time are GW2's strongest aspects, which is kind of weird for a genre known for the end-game gear grind.
It's the most themepark MMO I've played. It took me for a ride showing me nostalgic places from GW1 and the various ways they've all been destroyed and turned to shit. And once the ride is over, there's nothing to do but go look for a different ride.
It amazes me how its still around, its almost 12 years old at this point.
I logged in recently and a bunch of maps where still crowded, people still doing the boss train, it was fun, shame everyone I used to play with dropped off the face of the earth or changed following the 2016 elections.
To be fair gw2 players have horrible sense of fashion. They all try to be as shiny as possible but by doing so they look like garbage
Guild War 1 still alive.
I remember trying this out a couple years ago and I played for four hours thinking I was still in the tutorial waiting for the main game to start but nope that's the main game. That's the kind of shit you'll be doing from level 1 to 80.
Anon lvl 1 to 80 is the tutorial. The real game starts once you play heart of thorns
Yeah every goddamned MMO is like this
>the real game doesn't start until you're max level
So why did they make getting to max level so boring? Honestly makes it seem like people who play MMOs don't want new players to get into it.
Because it's content from 2012 and quite outdated. Newer content from 2015 onwards is more fun
Getting to level 80 the first time doesn't even take that long... Plus just by playing the game you get free level boosts for alts and they keep giving them away with expansions. I'm pretty sure I have enough boosts to level like 6 characters to max level, and I haven't even been playing that long. I'm probably gonna start throwing them away because they waste bag space
It's painfully underrated the open world maps and events are the best in the industry especially in the expansions (that are all still populated because of the horizontal design). So much more soul than ff14 flat boring zones.
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
People waiting for the riot mmo to play yordles when gw2 had them first.
wish majority of ther armor sets and costumes didnt look like ass
story is trash
have to zerg for everything
at least the world looks nice also need more Norn mommies
Its this shill again. Mind explaining this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-q5sItZyZM
Can you explain this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbJ8PqIU588
I started playing a few months ago. It's very good, but I wish they would keep making new raids for every expansion. The strikes are fine, but the raids were way cooler especially in terms of boss arenas. I'm almost done with my raid legendary armor now and there's not really a reason to even do strikes.
>Install it
>Wings and high-heels everywhere
>Immediately uninstall
I like the progression in this game but the combat feels like floaty shit.
It’s unbearable
>want to do stuff
>0 groups in the group finder
wait, we can talk about gw2 now? the spammer is gone?
tl;dr some guy was too autistic for the Ganker guild, they kicked him, so he set up a bot that would grab random images and post text from the entire site and spam any gw2 thread, he did this for YEARS
its been gone for years m8
its been yonks since i visited vg. whatever happened to that dude, did they figure out who it was?
Yes the spammer is gone
>too autistic for the Ganker guild
How? It's full of meme spam and other garbage. How can you be too autistic for that???
literal autistic magic, like the kind you see in those zelda threads
>banter
that's normalgay behavior
For me, it's soulbeast
>mmo tard is a furry
like pottery
Been playing Soulbeast for power DPS and Specter for condi DPS and having a blast.
I quote enjoyed specter too I just wish half your skills in the shroud weren't melee or a jump to melee. Condi builds are always comfy to play though. And I managed to solo HoT hero points I'd never done before with specter.
If I wanted to start, would the best bet just be to go through all the stories, then expansions/living seasons as I make my way through them?
if suicide isnt an option, yeah, that sounds right
>love the 2h hammer scrapper fantasy
>have to use grenade and mortar kits and shit
god I hate this game
Can I get access to the Black Lion shop from the browser?
the best mmo you can play is none of them, but especially not that trash lmao
>WoW combat better than GW2
Delusion of trying to justify $15 a month for 15 years.
That whole image is fricked. I don't even like GW2 but to suggest that WoW's zone design is anywhere near on par with GW2's is pure delusion.
my favorite mmo is eso but i dont like the animation cancelling shit and horizontal loot progression and lack of auction house so i dont play it
the way ESO does auction houses is so fricking awful
I loved everything else about ESO but hated the combat so much.
It's almost perfect but I hate running static dungeons, they need to be randomized for my autism to be satisfied
