yeah it redefined mmos
I enjoyed my time with GW2 and I can't figure out why the frick they would claim that. It had absolutely no impact on the genre.
Unironically their first mmo. They haven't play any other mmo. If they had, they would realize everything from GW 2 was taken from somewhere else.
>neoliberal currency system using advanced financial modeling to israelite the player to the max
>dungeon speedruns with extra difficulty
>mount system (slowly being copied)
It has more viewers because it's [LE DROPS ENABLED] you butthurt pedo furry.
We're talking about FFXIV right?
So it's another game that people would rather watch than play?
I'd argue there's very little downtime in GW2 since you never wait for queues.
Most people are actively playing from start to finish
that has nothing to do with what he said
>viewers
please KYS
Can you advertise somewhere else?
can i use my old acount to play on steam?
no, new accounts only
whats the fricking point them
shilling campaign
that's horrible. Can you REALLY not use old accounts?
you can, gotta change the launch option
Not officially, which is the biggest deal. Arenanet gonna moron.
You cannot even link GW 1 account.
Same shit as the Steam Version of FFXIV then. I don't know why people bother with steam versions of mmos with stand-alone clients.
Cheaper regional prices
There's a workaround, but obviously don't buy anything through steam it won't work
>add GW2 to your steam account for free
If you have GW2 installed already and don't want to download it again:
>pause install
>right click GW2 in steam
>properties
>local files
>browse
>move or copy gw2.dat from existing installation folder into this folder
>resume install
>right click GW2 in steam
>properties
>type "-provider Portal" into LAUNCH OPTIONS
>press play
>log in with old account
ill try that thanks
Works. Thanks
Yea, because people are playing the patch. If people are watching it instead of playing, it means its not worth playing.
What makes it more fun than FFXIV? Your answer must contain no more than two buzzwords
It's not bogged down by time gates like the MSQ and you can play with people much, much sooner and far more frequently.
You live in the overworld instead of the capital waiting for queue
You can raid within 5 minutes of booting the game and boosting a character.
No one cares.
>You can raid within 5 minutes of booting the game and boosting a character.
thank you for informing me about how soulless this game is, i am no longer considering purchasing it.
That's alright anon. You can time gate yourself before you raid if that's what you enjoy doing, you don't have to do it in every game though.
Old GW2 accounts can't play on steam for some reason, it's just the new players only. If steam brought back any old players, they'd have to use the old client.
Fates have nothing on GW2 meta events.
No one is comparing Fates to anything. Just that you can do multiplayer shit instantly.
>It's not bogged down by time gates like the MSQ and you can play with people much, much sooner and far more frequently.
What did he mean by this? You can do FATEs after 2 quests (aka, the tutorial).
Also, MSQ isn't a timegate, but I know what you mean.
>You can raid within 5 minutes of booting the game and boosting a character.
AHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAH
You cannot raid, period. Unless you're in the literal 0.001% of the player base that could raid, you will get kick for being new. You cannot even raid without an expansion.
You can't raid without a specialization because core class damage is shit these days yes. But all raids are only in HoT and PoF anyways, so yeah you need the expansions to raid.
you only need exotic gear to raid however. You only need ascendedgear for Fractals and maybe WvW
GW2 still has genders.
You can raid within 5 minutes of booting the game and boosting a character.
I don't think I would trust raiding with someone who only has 5 minutes of play time from boosting. Not would I trust anyone who boosts, period.
Those kind of dumbass poster tend to leave out shit like that, and how people will instant kick you if you're using core only specs, have less than 10k Achievement points, or refuse to post your api.
>It's not bogged down by time gates like the MSQ
homie, stop lying. The last time I played GW2 there was a lot of shit locked behind the shittiest story on earth. Not only that but you "unlock" most of your class spells around level 40ish and after that all the levels does is slow you down for no other reason than padding
>You can raid within 5 minutes of booting the game and boosting a character.
That's not a good thing homosexual.
graphics are better, zones are more fun to play around with (made for mount traversal, verticality, harder world bosses).
The world vs world vs world pvp is unique to the genre, and it's still active.
The combat is similar to WoW's fast pace, or faster, but the skills can be aimed.
There is actual build variety
Combat is better than "stand still and channel your abilities. Use them in exactly this order over and over with no deviations"
Mounts are fun and the maps made with them in mind are fun to traverse.
Classes actually feel different instead of being slightly different shades of cooldown balancing.
Frick I just really hated everything about XIV's combat. It's utterly dogshit boring.
>Combat is better than "stand still and channel your abilities. Use them in exactly this order over and over with no deviations"
>Posts a video showcasing optimum DPS on a stationary non-moving target that doesn't fight back that are there just for DPS testing and nothing else
Sorry you might have mistaken that for a XIV boss, I understand "mechanics" besides large glowing circles on the floor is a bit too complicated for FFTrannies but that's just a target dummy.
Anon do you know what game thread you're in? large glowing circles on the floor is 90% of GW2's boss mechanics.
Way to expose yourself for not actually playing group content in the game you're trying to shill.
>b-but trannies!
You realize you're replying to a picture of an Anet dev tweeting about their dialators, right?
I actually like the combat, as far as MMO goes it actually feels like it has variety and classes feel very different.
Exploring the world actually gives you rewards
Character customization is pretty good too.
>viewers
No one cares.
Yes, Steam version is new accounts only. There's probably a very technical reason for it to be so, like keeping bookkeeping separate for paid transactions.
>on steam now
hope you like people posting the gw2 steamcharts to call it a dead game
>the game that redefined MMORPGs
I have never in my life heard this term applied to GW2. WoW sure, for better or for worse, but never GW2.
They unironically were, along with SWTOR, the beginning of the end for MMORPGs. They didn't redefine it for the sake of improvements. They redefined it during the turning point of wokeism.
is this game good
You can try it out for yourself at no cost.
no, it does excel at seeming like it's about to be good, but it just never happens. It's endless tedium.
Watch out! They will tell you that GW 2 has the BESTIST MOUNT!.!!!!1! despite being a bandaid for a shitty map placement and shitter movement alternate.
Latest expansion. Also the heroes of Luxons and Kurzicks are gay for each other.
>GW 2 has the BESTIST MOUNT!.!!!!1!
It does though. Flying the Griffon is one of the funnest things to do in the game. Shame about the rest of it being absolutely fricking garbage.
While much of the game is trash, sinks and pointless time gating (that can be bypassed by paying to win) (before any dumb charr gays scream: mystic coins, gems to gold, frickers), the mount system does indeed completely body every other MMO. Don’t know how ANet managed to pull that off.
Plus if you say bookah around woke bookahs outside of the game, it’s hilarious watching them puzzle out how to react.
C+, would play again because while heavily flawed and honestly trash, one must compare it to the genre it lives in. GW2 is like being a poor college gag and finding a questionably stained couch on the side of the road, compared to the diaper genie sausage that is WoW or the assorted kitchen waste that is FF.
No. This is who you support. You're better off playing something else with your free time and time cannot be gain back.
It just barely sits on the cusp of being good. That's the most frustrating thing about it. You play it, you sort of have a good time, but when you stop, you don't remember what you actually did because it wasn't memorable in any particular way. It's like eating a bowl of unflavoured instant oats with water.
its fun as an action adventure rpg. Its combat involves lots of movement, i would not go in expecting it to play as a traditional mmo
looks like WoW but gayer
you would know all about looking gay
>combat involves a lot of movement
>shows one of the most stationary builds there is
>viewers
I love taking long breaks, occasionally saying hello to my small wife, doing a few map completions, then never playing again.
It looks like one of those braindead vegetable children who's parents wave around like puppets on social media
Is the game still pozzed as frick?
The best content in GW2 is the jump puzzles
everything else is garbage
I've 100% map completion 3 times. The base games maps are the only fun I can have in the game.
>The game that redefined MMORPGs
lmao, ironically, that was literally GW1, GW2 was a gigantic blundering step backwards for the genre. In fact the longer GW2 has been around the more generic and similar to every other MC-MMO it has become.
OH NONONONONONO AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA
I don't care about who wins or loses, I just care about the fact that this is gonna be used as ammo for tribalistic shitposting.
Its already stupidly tribal in the r/mmorpg subreddit where shills will downvote anyone that talk shit about GW 2.
>be used as ammo for tribalistic shitposting
You could just ignore them and recognize it as shitposting. We've been dealing with GW2 being shit for years, we've accepted it yet still play it. Why should anyone care what someone who doesn't play it and will only parrot whatever shitpost that gets them the most (You)s.
Fair enough. Similar to wowgays, but at least you're still a notch above them because GW2 players don't have to pay a sub fee to consume crap.
bro fricking wildstar had more players when it first went up on steam. this is sad.
Should look at the first day ff14 was on steam 🙂
It was double and peaked at 56k players today.
>less players than new world
It's over
This was the hyped Steam launch that would save the game? UH OH
Anyone who was interested was already playing it at this point, releasing on Steam so late was an odd choice.
It's really a fun game.
> Non-subscription payment
> Grinding for legendary items is not necessary and only for convenience.
Only thing I hate it is how unoptimized it is. I run rtx3080 and Ryzen 3600 and I can't even get consistent 40fps
it's also pozzed as frick. worse than wow if you can believe it.
>worse than wow if you can believe it
At least try.
Nah both GW2 and WoW are extremely trooned out
Both are shit
Try what, shill? It's well documented how much alphabet pandering both games have. wow recently removed genders from their game ffs.
I can't believe it. WoW is so far gone it's unreal. The only troon shit I know of in GW2 is that one I've chick I've seen say she used to be a dude.
If they haven't gone full sylvari circlejerk, shove you with the worst npc characters in the entire genre, shove a mary sue, twice, shit on Guild Wars 1, and then shove a bunch of diversity and SJW crap, then I would have supported the game. While I enjoy WvW, I hate that its the biggest time waster I had in that game and given a chance, I would have never partake in that mode, ever.
>viewers
lol yeah, because people are actually playing xiv.
>can't get to my island because of server load
>come back almost 12 hours later
>still can't get in
FRICKING LEAVE
Just keep trying repeatedly until you get in.
>pay subscription fee
>forced to wait your turn to play
Do final fantasy tards really?
Why the frick would you ever play this when Tower of Fantasy exists and is better in every way?
Even as a weeb I uninstalled that shit in less than an hour.
They are both absolute garbage games but I guess that one at least doesn't paygate you as much as gw2.
>gacha
even the people in here shilling boosting are better than that
Naw, people shilling GW 2 never mention how you need to spend money to actually play the game. Core is not a good game demo by all means.
It gotten way worse funny enough.
Both games are garbage, but atleast GW2 isn't P2W gacha garbage
>redefined mmos
what did they mean by this? gw2 was barely even a footnote
I remember trying this game like a year ago.
Got super hyped during story for the undead dragon with how much the story was hyping him only for it to be one of the worst boss fight i ever did.
I dropped the game after that.
Which classes are insta-kicked from any group so I know what not to play
All classes now can offer something to the table depending on their spec. Unfortunately, some offer more than others. If you want to get your dick sucked by everyone, play either Guardian or Engineer.
I have never been kicked from a group, that ,kind of shit only happens in high level fractals where only the most autistic homosexuals tryhard and you will not get there for a while.
Play whatever you'd like, they can all kind of do anything.
That mostly because high level fractal is the only place that would make actual money. Raid takes too long for its own good, lolstrikemission, and silverwaste grind is boring as shit.
That's pretty much what the fractals are for. They are the autism trap.
>a 10 year old game is now on steam
k? What difference does it make if you play it on steam vs how it was before?
Nothing, legitimately
It just can be shilled to a whole new audience
So I checked few livestream on twitch and none of them seem to be really playing
>one was just fricking around a abandoned city with a big turtle
>channel with most views is literally just fishing (the minigame looks like ass and takes forever to complete? Minecraft already perfected fishing why add this unnecessary minigame to it?)
>bunch of channels are afk on various places, one was in somewhat interesting looking void zone with bunch of other players, it was small looking but at least it felt alive unlike the places the rest were.
>some fishfaced fricker had his camera pointed to his hairless mouse in clownsuit and was talking about about his shitty life
ect ect
Why isn't any of them doing something like fighting some mobs or one of those open world events gays over at /vg/ keep reminiscing about? Wasn't there jumping puzzles in this game? Why not do any of those instead?
Don't go on /vg/. I can easily saw GW2's vg is so bad it's like a fricking joke.
Based
I honestly hope that guy with the bot still frick that general up.
Anon, viewers only mattered when it favored FF14. Viewers are an inaccurate benchmark when FF14 is not on top.
Seething post
Blessed post
>GW2 troons think they can make their dead game relevant by picking a fight with the #1 MMO
Can't even break 4k players on Steam. Literal who dead game.
the cat girls in gw2 are so hot

>story NPCs
Yikes. Despite Rox being one of the least cringe members of Dragon's Watch she's still trash.
>claims cat girls are hot

There are better choices
When she appeared we all thought it was an April Fool's joke. Then we found out it wasn't.
Then stuff started coming that we wish were jokes. It didnt stop for 5 years.
do only rat and cat frickers play this or something?
Yes and?
Do I have to do the fricking story missions. It's so goddamn boring compared to the rest of the game.
personal story no, but sadly the dlc story is mandatory.
They fricking suck but you should probably do them.... Thankfully they got rid of the talking head screens after the base game, they are truly horrible.
no, at least you can skip cutscenes in personal story, living world and expansions you have to watch the shitty animations and hear about lesbian melodrama
You can mostly ignore the base GW2 story stuff (atleast as far as I remember). But you are forced to play through one of the worst stories in human history to access ANYTHING in the expansions
people still play guild wars 2?
There's at least 4 of us.
A lot actually, even before the steam release.
At worst, just the first chapter of Living world seasons to get each map associated with them, and 1 chapter of each expansion
Chapters are super short and you dont usually need to complete it to unlock a zone/continent
>A lot actually
huh, I just haven't heard a peep out of this game anywhere for years, I assumed it just kinda fizzled out
>believing the marketer
Come on anon
It's easy to find maps that have overflows for events, there is a lot of players.
I remember hearing the game has a core population of unironically mentally ill people who cling to it as a safe space. it's probably like a more hugbox-ish wow.
Guild Wars 1 is still better you troony furries
>streamers rather just frick around with their phone than play the game
lmao, and she's been like this for more than 15 minutes
No shit dude, it's a [DROPS ENABLED] shilling campaign. You watch the streamers for XX minutes then you get an item ingame, it's an artificial and forced way to boost viewers.
>unironically watching w*m*n streamers
May as well have a nice day, anon.
The reason why GW2 all of a sudden have such a "huge" viewcount on twitch is becuase it was added to the "bounty board" or whatever the frick the homosexuals who maintains the websites call it. They literally just pay streamers to stream "X" amount of hours of "X" game, it's really obvious when companies does this kind of shit since every channel gets flooded with viewbots and the streamer seems to barely be able to keep themselves focused through the stream
Stealth XIV thread?
Such a boring, dogshit game
Unironically Riot is the only hope for Western MMOs
mazed moron
how did it redefine MMOs
what MMOs came after GW2 that were influenced by it?
WoW is stealing the mount system.
Fair enough. The mounts are probably the best aspect of GW2, especially the roller beetle.
>The mounts are probably the best aspect of GW2, especially the roller beetle.
Motorcycle mount is too much fun
Why is this balance so shit
>certain classes press 3 button = tons of dmg
>other classes have to destroy their fingers = wet noodle
I once red a blog by the devs that the difference in DPS between the average player and someone who is competent at the game is 20 times.
The devs are pretty much completely fricked when trying to create content that caters towards both.
its impossible to balance with 3 expansions worth of extra trait trees for each class.
I only played vanilla Guild Wars 2. Leveling and story up to level 50 are fine, good/great even. After that and endgame were just horrible. Dungeons were stupid and people just rubberbanded mobs as they rushed to the boss. World bosses were just boring zergs.
I don't know what the game is like now, probably better, but I won't go back.
why is all the critique for the game the same from you dipshits?
>i havent played since it initially came out
>my opinion is completely outdated
>but i'll still say the game sucks
You expect Ganker to actually play games?
>Story is shit, but at least was cliched shit, which spiralled into Mary Sueville then full on Troon Town.
>Classes are all fun as hell, though some are obviously better than others.
>NPE has been drastically improved, BUT with an incentive added to persuade F2P's to pay for an expansion via free 10-hour mount use.

>Fractals are still amazing
>Dungeons are still a meme

Early and late gate are still fine. It's that niggling middle area that really gets people's goat.
Yeah I will because all the fundamental reasons the game's dogshit are still there. Cry harder that nobody likes your SJW game buddy.
GW2 was good until the first expack, and even then it was decent until the second. They had no idea what to do with their initial windfall of success. Quadrupled their studio team, only to cull half of them, the good half, when their esports and mobile pushes failed.
It was and is the best gaming experience Ive ever had, but at some point I had to step away as it being raped into the ground was just too painful. Cant even enjoy the old base game because of the stupid shader shit theyve introduced to try to keep the graphics relevant, along with the visual clutter from all the clout auras. And even if I could get past the visual changes, they reworked Thief traps because people were too braindead to know how to use them effectively, thereby deleting probably my favorite thing in that game. In general, far too many concessions made for bad players, and I cant even blame them because the game isnt good enough any more to keep the good players for very long. Real shame.
Heart of Thorns was super kino, I have 0 idea what you're on about.
If anything, mounts took away from the experience but it's fine because I think most people were over how tough it was by then
4 zones after all of that development with like 2 other zones scrapped. Some really really shit class balance brought on by questionable choices in designing the new specializations. You can't look at chronomancer and tell me that design was smart. Cool as shit, but giving one class something as broken as alacrity as a unique buff was moronic. Strong story out the gate that got progressively shittier the more the living story filled out. No new dungeons, hard reliance on the new raids to take their place, and I would argue raids were kind of a shit addition as they were implemented. One wing of like 2 or 3 bosses every 6 months wasn't really kosher, and it sucked up a ton of development for how few people actually bothered with them. No new leg set out the gate to add to the growing list of scrapped or delayed additions.
Overall, HoT was pretty good, but it had the all the markers of the problems that have only gotten progressively worse with Anet over the years. They over promised and under delivered, and were always playing catchup as a result. Don't get me wrong, I had a blast, but I can't pretend it wasn't the start of the decline.
They sort of chilled on raids and replaced them with strikes which are 1 boss raids, much more people run those.
Your head would spin if you saw how hard classes can support and offer boons these days. Supports running 2 major stats like Heals and Alac are not uncommon
I think Anet has done a good job of keeping the game up over the last few years especially, but it has had rough spots earlier in its life.
Yeah I have peaked in from time to time to see what all theyve been doing; the new scepter thief looks really neat, and I know theyve given alac to like a third or more of the classes by this point. I keep hoping to see the kinds of things that will motivate me to pick it up again, but haven't seen it yet. They've made some good effort in recovering, but still are rushing content and releasing disappointing patches. I was making sure to keep up with the living story chapter releases to at least have them unlocked for if I ever wanted to come back to play through them one day, but stopped bothering after what they did with Primordus AND Jormag. Ending a 15 year story arch from GW1 for Primordus in a like 1minute cutscene was egregious even for modern Anet. I can not for the life of me get my head around that decision.
Wotlk prepatch in 6 days, Wotlk launch in a month. There is absolutely no reason to play GW2
>play my dead classic game
no thanks
Classic wow has more players than GW2 and their release on Steam isn't gonna change that
>Classic wow has more players than GW2
>doubt.jpeg
Neither company releases their numbers so it is a bit of an asspull but all these asspull and community census sites consistently rank wow classic above GW2
>all these asspull and community census sites consistently rank wow classic above GW2
At least you admit its all ass pulling. Im okay with GW2 being the underdog.
Making steam only for new accounts really was a weird choice, but not unheard of. FF14 and ESO both do that.
would be playing it if they let old accounts on the steam version
But you can butthole
All right, maybe some of you gays will know.
Is there anywhere that sells a pre-order key for End of Dragons? It doesn't have to be the whole thing (if it is I'll take a Deluxe or even Ultimate) but just the pre-order items? I have an old GW2 account i've not played for ages and I'd check it out again, but I missed the most recent expansion and yes as a collector gay it annoys me not to have all the various shit. So if there's some legit 3rd party keyseller somewhere, or just some way to get the in-game items for the pre-order shit, I'd go for it.
Here's what I'm talking about. Yes it collector's autism -
>Shing Jea Mosaic Cape
>Flame Serpent Weapon Chest
>“Prodigy of Shing Jea” Title
I'm guessing that the Cape and Title are probably the big ones; I assume the chest is maybe one of many you can unlock in other ways. If anyone knows if there's another way besides pre order to get that particular cape and title, let an anon know? Hell I'd rather the opportunity to purchase them on the item mall then being gone forever (though if there's a way to unlock them in game so much the better). That aside, if anyone knows places to buy a game key that comes with those pre-order bonuses, let me know.
I don't know what outfit to pick from the Twitch drops... I'm leaning towards this one
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kasmeer%27s_Regal_Outfit
I dunno though.... Most of the other ones feel kinda edgy. Can you dye these outfits?
>Can you dye these outfits?
They all get 4 dye channels, yes
Is there a way to preview dyes on them before you pick one?
That im not sure of. probably not
I figured it out... if you preview a dye with the equip preview window opened it will add it to the item you're looking at. But you have to search the fricking dye on the AH so you can preview it, and the slot it previews goes in order so if you want to preview 3rd slot you have to click preview on the dye 3 times and then clear the first 2 dye previews. What the hell? Why would it possibly be like this. Don't they want you to buy this shit?
I played up to level 10 and it just felt like a worse FFXIV.
There is no way GW2 feels worse than FF14. GW2 literally has like 200 MS delay built into the engine. Better Story? Dungeons? Raids? Yea I'll give you that, but no chance in hell GW2 "feels" worse.
Oops, I meant FF14 has 200 MS delay
GW2 is heavily unoptimized and caps at 30 fps. It cant handle threading, it can barely handle cores. Its hardcapped to chug no matter your system. They fired or laid off anyone who could work on engines since launch and have been living off graphic artists and freelancers ever since.
Probably vsync. I remember the built in vsync is pretty shit and as soon as you drop 1 frame below 60 it caps to 30. I've just been using scanline sync on rivatuner for like a year and never thought about it again
I turned off vsync, and its been a helluva improvement. The artifacting doesnt show up in my videos nor screenshots, so its well worth it imo
>Have a 12 core i7 running at 4.4ghz
>installed on a SSD
>16 gigs of DDR4 ram
>2070 super
>Game still runs about as well as it did for me back at release when I had a MUCH worse system
>The only real difference is that I can run it at higher resolutions now and with slightly higher settings accross the board before the FPS starts tanking worse than it did 10 years ago
DX11 fixed some of the stuttering problems and made the game not shit the bed as soon as there were more than 10 characters on screen at once, but as soon as you try WvWvW or do ANY of the world events with a character count (as in both NPCs and players) higher than 10 it starts shitting the bed pretty fricking hard still
Did they ever fricking fix the dye system so that items have default appearances? Like there are so many good QoL features in GW2 (like unlocking dyes and other shit account wide), but I'll never understand the fricking autism that goes with what used to be their dye system.
You used to dye "slots" so like "chest slot, color part 1, 2, or 3" and these stayed no matter what fricking item you equipped. So it was like you couldn't get new gear with a default appearance and then customize it to your preference, it was like everything inherited the colors of the slots. So if you dyed some edgelord leather purple with green trim or whatever and equipped an outfit or piece of armor that was obviously supposed to be some shining silver armor with accents..it would be fricking purple with green trim until you fricked with it and manually dyed the dye slots into the colors you wanted (which you may not even have considering unlocking dye was adventure, crafting, or cash shop and sometimes only the latter). Anyway, they used to have something called "dye remover" which I thought "oh good, if I put this in every slot then all the gear will use its default look! Okay this is a solution at least" but no, frick me, "dye remover" was some shit brown abortion or something even on what should have been shining platemail . Frick I wish they'd changed this. If they make bank on people dying their gear a certain way they could at least give people a reason to want to unlock shit rather than tedious inaccurate samey bullshit unless you manually recolor all the slots for each piece.
I just dyed a random junk item to pink and put my old armor on and it went back to how it was idk if that's what you mean
Scanline sync on RivaTuner makes the game run way smoother for me. It's insane how much better it makes GW2 feel. I just kept added a gw2.exe profile and kept adding 100 to the number until the vertical tear disappeared. I don't really understand how it works.
That may be an improvement, actually. Okay, how about this. Go look at something that is either crafted or on the BlackLion/Cash shop where you can see the default look of the item - like the aforementioned "this is supposed to be a giant silver chestplate, or a fancypants frilly pirate shirt in white with a green vest" sort of thing., or otherwise look at its default. Then if you actually buy/craft/find the item and put it on, does it look like the default was supposed to? Or if you had your last dye slots too some pink abortion does it instantly turn bright pink or whatever?
I'm trying to figure out if its actually something about it being specific to the item as opposed to "dye slots on a character, every item will adopt them" or if its something like say... your swapping of gear sets ended up swapping the dye slots themselves or something, not that the default of the non-pink stuff was as it should be.
Why the frick would I care that it's on Steam? If I wanted to play it before I would just do that, what does it being on Steam change?
I wish first person was viable for combat. It feels like a different game in first person
there is action cam toggle in one of the keybinds but i've never used it that much or tried it in first person.

Does the expansions ever go on sale?
What the frick is the 'Living World"? Is it necessary?
How fricked is the cash shop?
Pof+HoT combo expansion goes on sale sometimes but it probably wont on steam for a bit.
Living worlds are mini expansions between expansions, generally adding zone exclusive currencies and mechanics. Not necessarily required, some are defniitely more useful than others, but if you're a completionist or want access to everything in the game you can use you will want them down the line.
Cash shop is very unfricked. You might buy more bag slots or bank slots once you get comfortable but that's really it. Just convenience shit, You can grind gems for gold and the rate for them isn't bad at all
Sorry I forgot to add the last question:
Any anticheat rootkit bullshit on the game?
No rootkit anticheat.
You wont find any hackers anywhere.
>What the frick is the 'Living World"? Is it necessary?
Good mounts are lock behind the PoF one. Stories in general are shit. utter garbage.
>How fricked is the cash shop?
that is where all the new cosemstic are. there some "qol" stuff that doesn't amount to anything. Ignore the morons that tell you YoU CAn FaRM GeM InGaME. The ratios is so fricked.
>Living World
Following up on this, is there a way to play what you've missed? Like I missed pretty much all of them, including Season 1 . I'm glad that they're back ,but is it soemthing where if you had an account during that time they're all free to you? Or you actually had to do them during that time or during a special event?
Can you get the rest of Season 1 (starting from Ep1) and go forward? Guessing it normally costs something right to get all the other episodes? However they seem to be on S1 E3 so it will probably cycle forward, I may only need to buy E1/E2 if I play E3 and go on from there etc.
>Following up on this, is there a way to play what you've missed
log in when its "free" or play gem/real life money. unless you really want that dragon mount, its not worth it. Certainly not the ice shitty one with jormag
Season 1 is basically a few instanced story quests now. You just click what episode you want to play in the story journal and the quest starts. You can just look for the Episode's name under the Story Journal achievements tab and it will lead you to the other content from the episode that isn't just story quests. The rest of the seasons are basically the same thing except 3, 4 and 5 start adding a new map for each episode. I think season 2 only has 2 new maps but you can access them without paying for S2 they are just part of the normal world. Purchasing S2 is basically just for the story quests and achievements. If you own and do all the achievements for 2, 3, 4, and 5 you get a legendary accessory.
Thanks. How is S1 free for everyone? They just put some announcement that S1 has never been available in a "replay" before (when last I played a year or more ago the free replays or buying shit was only for S2 and more recently) and are listing its S1 Episode 3 currently available, not the whole Season 1? That makes me think that I may have missed Season 1 Episode 1 free replay or whatever.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-return-clockwork-chaos-is-live/
Thought the trees were the bishounen elves, not trannies. They, last I recall had male and female body types that differed.
>That makes me think that I may have missed Season 1 Episode 1 free replay or whatever
Theyre rereleasing living world season 1 content for free for everyone, so you cant 'miss' it. Episodes 4 and 5 are to be released in the coming weeks
It's a patch and they just add the story to the story tab. I think they're having to remake a lot of stuff from scratch which is why it takes them a while. Like they redid the entire main city of the game, but when you go into the season 1 quest you enter the old version from launch. One of the mid level zones gets completely demolished in one of the later episodes, and it was a permanent change to the world so they're probably gonna have to recreate it for the quest...
S1 is free for everyone. Everything else is free if you login while it's the most recent, or unlockable with gems later.

Is there some sort of fan launcher I should be using rather than the official one, or mods I should install prior to starting fresh?
With how terribly optimized most MMOs typically are, I'd be surprised if the default settings were what's recommended to newcomers.
>Is there some sort of fan launcher I should be using rather than the official one, or mods I should install prior to starting fresh?
no. none exist
>With how terribly optimized most MMOs typically are, I'd be surprised if the default settings were what's recommended to newcomers.
GW 2 is unironically the LEAST optimized mmo, even with the top tier rigs.
>GW 2 is unironically the LEAST optimized mmo, even with the top tier rigs.
m8 there's no way it's worse than Blade&Soul during the UE3 days.
Even NASA-grade rigs struggled to get more than ~12-17 FPS in certain raids, it was horrifyingly abysmal. Damn shame, since the game was pretty great outside of that one crippling flaw.
I'd say the fricked grind also hurt B&S a fair bit.
But damn was that combat fun and I really was fond of the story.
Not only is it the least optimized, it progressively gets worse. The more shaders and visual clutter auras they add, the worse it gets. I remember when they culled a ton of spell effects for sake of visual clutter, supposedly for fricking esports of all things, only to then introduce auras bound to infusions that all stacked. Shit is obnoxious as hell. Once upon a time, you could stack multiples of the same legendary auras, but that got canned because of visual clutter and cited performance concerns. I sent Anet emailsand tickets for months b***hing about that change because of how worthless it made the legendary water weapons, as you could no longer put the auras on outside of the water, until they eventually reverted it only for those weapons. Different times.

Can you respec freely your class?
Because when I played PSO2 I fricked my build so much I couldn't play anymore
>Can you respec freely your class?
You can, which is a big bump up from initial release where you had to pay to respec.
Even the advanced classes? I can change from Druid to Soulbeast?
>Even the advanced classes? I can change from Druid to Soulbeast?
Yep! the only stipulation is that youre not currently in combat.
Ok, any FOMO bullshit I should worry about?
>FOMO bullshit I should worry about?
Only living world stuff, and maybe the twitch drops people keep talking about if youre really interested in reskinned cosmetics.
>Only living world stuff
But its forever gone to new players?
>But its forever gone to new players?
Oh no, its free upon initial release as long as you log in during the timeframe its available. All the living world stuff is included in the bundle on steam, and they arent doing the next living world stuff until after theyre done with living world season 1, which'll be free forever. In short theres nothing really fomo to worry about for the next few months
Not really. Achievements aren't time-limited, though that bloats the interface over time. Festival stuff are only available for a limited time but they rotate anually
>Festival stuff are only available for a limited time but they rotate anually
Good, because FFXIV just chucks festival stuff in the cash shop.
>It also has over 2 times more viewers than FF14's "biggest patch ever" lol
Because of Twitch drops, you stupid moron. That's always view botted for shit.
Yea. I got my 10 hours in, I'm never watching a GW2 stream again.
I'm just getting the cosmetic. I don't give a shit about the other items.
It's the last item... you have to watch for 10 hours to get it.
No it isn't. It's the 5th one. The Purple Mask. I don't give a shit about the "classic" skins.
... what? The purple mask is trash they gave away for signing up for advertisement emails. They sell the outfits for 700 gems in the gem store
Are the time tables available somewhere. I have some thai player on in the bg and I don't give a shit. Is it accumulated time across all of them or only one person-to-person bases?
You just go to

Yeah, I found it after. I felt really fricking dumb. As I should have.
>post your builds
You just go and keep pressing all buttons after each other from 1 to 8, non stop. There is no real build there anon.
Will melee ever not feel floaty as all frick?
All MMOs feel floaty, its the nature of the genre. XIV is the worst in this scenario
I guess? I don't know what xiv has to do with this I want to know if Guild wars 2 melee ever stop feeling floaty if not I'll get used to it. I just feels strange that I'm attacking and melee moves have almost zero skill effects and zero weight.
>All MMOs feel floaty
Vindictus, Dragon Nest, Blade&Soul, TERA (rip), Maplestory, and even FFXI say hello.
You can have an MMO with solid combat, but not when its foundation is centered around aping themepark design.
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
its a shame anet doesnt give players the starburst around their character profiles based on how many achievement points they have
And now un-potato'd
Stopped playing long ago. Have they ever added something on the level of the raven pants?
Can you still find people to do dungeons or you solo most of them?
If you start a group, you will find people (depending on time of day).
has the pvp been fixed already?
no. its full of bots instead. That isn't sarcasm.
fricking goddamnit, pvp has always been the only thing worth a damn in gw2 and it's criminal how the devs killed it by ignoring it so much
i think i'll start playing wow pvp out of sheer spite for gw2's pvp
the only mmo with passable pvp is WoW, much to the genre's disgrace
Is this game an optimized rotation simulator like FF14?
I don't know what that means, but you can check snowcrows or hardstuck and look at their recommended DPS rotations for each spec/build. Some of them are way easier than others you can see their difficulty rating for each build
No. All abilities are already unlocked and you kinda build around it.
Its far from the samey shit ffxiv has. Combat is totally different, all classes can perform in all roles of the "trinity"
Check http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
Yes, but you can get away just auto-attacking in public events.
Currently engineer is the lazy mans frost mage, so that would likely be your best pick for open world content.
As for instanced content... Well lets say if you are familiar with the mythic+ scene you will feel right at home.
GW1 > GW2
If I wanted to get into this, and want to be a human, are the Norn fine? Or do they have the reputation of being furries, seeing as how they can apparently transform into animals?
Every race can be broken down as such:
Human- Basic b***hass motherfrickers.
Norn- SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORNS UwU
Asura- We are the beautiful mole people
Sylvari- Like, chosen ones, peace, indoctrination
Charr- FURRY Black folk
Alright, thanks. I usually like picking a race that matches my class, so I wanted to go Norn and Guardian, but was afraid it'd be too many people making dog fricker jokes.
Norn are safe from that because the Charr exist.
Well that's a flop but I guess you can't expect much from a 10 year old game with a $100 entry fee.
>$100 entry fee.
free to play is a waste of time considering the quality of the content compared to the expansions. Yes masteries and elite specs matter a lot. You are basically dead weight if you expect to run core specs for fractals or raids.

Source: https://activeplayer.io/guild-wars-2/
the point was to show how weak the steam launch was considering how massive the playerbase for stema is. topping at 3k players on steam is really poor. i'm sure anet was expecting way bigger numbers for this release since they delayed the steam release for so long to actually update some of the core and leveling up experiences.
It'll probably peak a bit higher today, because there was never a time where NA and EU played together. It launched at like 8pm in Europe yesterday: it took me over two hours to download, then I played 30 minutes and went to sleep.
>100k players
>12M a month
is that normal for mmo games? Seems suspicious
in this day in age where the gaming scene is most saturated? probably
Who knows how they even came up with that number, it's almost always completely made up data based on Google searches, subreddit activity, Twitch viewers, number of posts on the official forums and stuff like that.
>Ff14 in op.
>"Why are you laughing? It's alive and well!"
It's one of those bullshit sites that "we counted player counts by twitch and reddit activity".
>Gw2 is below nu-runescape
Just pull the plug holy frick.
>Didn't read the filename
That's still low for an MMO. It's not as bad as Steam trends want to show it, but it's nowhere near the lofty heights of FFXIV or WoW
test
I remember when I bought this game originally I thought it was gonna be amazing but when I hit level 80 I hit a brick wall when I got my guild gear. I have no idea how the progression works in this game since ive been away from it for so long.
It's easy, there is no progression!
Welcome to the grind, now break down 6 gorillion items with salvage kits for +2 social credits (repeatable infinitely!)
Should I use the standalone installer or steam?
If you already don't have account then probably steam for easier refund (Yes, you will need the $100 dlc pack to access most of the features and populated areas, the "feebie" raptor is lowkey shit due to not having access to mastery training)
If you already have account continue using that since you can't link them in any way.
>Making an Asura for my first character
>Apparently their in-universe names are all either 1 or 2 syllables long, meaning they're super short
>Basically every decent-sounding, 4-6 letter name has already been taken, because the game is a decade old
The one time I want to pretend to be lore-accurate in an MMO, and I'm met with the race which has the least flexibility in its naming conventions.
>Not naming himself Cumrag Slurper
You can get around it by giving them some kind of profession or title, like 'Draxx the Short' or 'Professor Fuchs'
I haven't played GW2 since they introduced that map as a prequel to the first expansion. Got burnt out farming 4 legendaries. Is it worth getting back into?
have they gotten rid of the homosexualry in the EoD or did they double down on it?
There hasn't been any new content since EoD
Barry. Meds.
Reminder arena net will just drop support on content as quickly as you do it, and they’d rather put shit in the literal pay2win cash shop so you trade gems for gold.
Nah, I'm still playing FFXI and PSO, and enjoying them just fine. Keep your modern MMO cancer.
Should I make a rat or cat mesmer?
Neither, go play human male
I despise Troy baker's voice
Human female then
I don't play w*man characters
male lettuce then? rats and cats look like shit, mostly played by furgays
I already have 5 salads and 3 norns.

the only time FF had good viewer counts was when the wowbabies played it, funny enough its around then that discussion of FF14 cropped up here regularly, never before that though or really after kek
summer 2021 is when all hell broke lose and people were making xiv threads faster than the blizzgay mod could delete.
What the frick you talking about theres like a FFXIV thread daily on here if not by the FFXIV players then its a Wowgay complaining about FFXIV and lamenting the fact that their game is basically on its way out.
Blizzard really frickin shit the bed this year and it fricking shows.
He probably referred to times when xiv threads were instantly banned.
Holy shit the fricking coping is unreal here, Ive played demon hunter and that shit was fricking mind numbingly low key press heavy.

Who gives a shit?
Yeah people here can lie all they want about the game being dead. All a new player has to do to see how much this game is alive is waiting for a world boss to appear.
I still can't into weaver at all
>2 times more viewers than FF14's
Is this how we count them now? Views mean nothing, rather then these people are way to lazy to play it by themself. Views are useless. So is this thread
Is there a US West and US East, or is every World just thrown together under one centralized location?
Getting around ~90-110 ping to Yak's Bend, which is making me wonder if I'm on the wrong side of the server bracket from where I should be as someone near the west coast.
Not sure of burgerland but in EU there are central and ruski servers, so I'd assume it's same for NA.
As for ping, well their servers are just plain old shit due to penny pinching. Newest expansion underperforming most likely didn't exactly help.
can I play WITHOUT steam
how much do I have to buy to enjoy it
does it have pvp

can I do group content (or anything besides questing) without a discord cliche?
sincerely, Ganker millennial
yes
no
>can I play WITHOUT steam
yes
>how much do I have to buy to enjoy it
Base game is free but expansions are where the much better content is. If you want all expansions and content it'll probly run you $90 without a sale but you can buy the content whenever. I'd see if you can stand the base game and if you like parts of it then buy the rest.
>does it have pvp
yes but not updated very often
>is it fun in 2022
subjective but i think so
>is it infested with f*x*v and tran*me degenrates

>can I do group content (or anything besides questing) without a discord cliche?

>there's some gay characters but not as much as people meme the game to be
I meant the tranime socks-posters not legitimate people.
>yea tho a guild might help
Do they recruit or is it all closed circle or even limited to female character playing types from the previous question?
Anime website.
>can I play WITHOUT steam
Yes.
>how much do I have to buy to enjoy it
The entire base game is free, that's quite a lot of content. If you enjoy the base game, the next thing you wanna buy is the first two expansions, Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire. They are sold in a bundle for $30.
With these two expansions, you have content for months.
>does it have pvp
There are two forms of PvP.
-Structured: You queue up for 5v5, objective-based arena matches. Level and gear is standardized for everyone, so you can jump into arena PvP at level 1.
-World vs. World: Huge map for mass PvP with castle sieges.
>is it fun in 2022
Yes?
>is it infested with f*x*v and tran*me degenrates
Probably, I don't know.
>can I do group content (or anything besides questing) without a discord cliche?
Open world: Most open world content is pretty easy. For some of the hard bosses, you have to join a Discord and listen to the calls but that's it. You don't have to talk or stick around once the boss is dead.
5-man (Fractals): These are basically Mythic+ from WoW. Low "keys" aren't that challenging, so they get pugged all the time. For high-level ones, it's better if you're on Discord.
10-man (Raids): Basically Discord-only, pugs are cancer.
>sincerely, Ganker millennial
Go back to your containment board, zoomer. I would report your for dodging filters but it wouldn't do shit anyway.
>can I play WITHOUT steam
Yes
>how much do I have to buy to enjoy it
$100 minimum, but you will likely want to spend at least double that for """"convenience"""" items and services
>does it have pvp
Theoretically, but it's kinda shit if approached seriously.
>is it fun in 2022
As new player? frick no. The amount of tedium you have to go through is asinine in order to get to good stuff. If you have a boost use it, if not then buy a few. Starting new character becomes tolerable once you unlock essential shit like skyscale (which in it self is about 3 week time investment on average once you unlock the grind, you can do it faster but likelyhood of burning out and rage uninstalling will go up) Ignore griffon until you have skyscale, yes it's fun but not very practical for new player, and having skyscale will make your life infinitely more tolerable.
>is it infested with f*x*v and tran*me degenrates
Yes. We also have glitter gays and furries.
>can I do group content (or anything besides questing) without a discord cliche?
open world stuff only, all other instanced group content is max sweat only, get ready to dedicate majority of your banks lots for kill proofs in order to even be considered for invite, discord is given.
>redefined MMO's
lmao they lied to use and sold us garbage then made it woke as frick.
Can I at least do everything solo?
Aside from fractals and raids, you can play basically the entire game solo. Sure, there's map wide events in the expansion areas and most world bosses that are straight up impossible to solo, but they all play out dynamically anyway where you can just turn up and leave whenever.
Thanks. I'll just play it for the story, no matter how homosexual it is.
Just wait until zoomers reach endgame and are met with the elitist toxic wall where every group will check your numbers for the relevant 2 or 3 fights that are not a cakewalk. I would argue that GW2 elitists are more toxic than WoW's, but no one noticed because almost no one plays this garbage game long enough.

how are the new maps?
Can I get good gear if I don't do raid?
The end-game gear is Ascended, and it's all the same no matter how you farm it. Raids, PvP, crafting: the end result is exactly the same. The second-best rarity is Exotic, ~10% weaker than Ascended... and you can literally buy Exotic stuff for pennies at the trading post.
They don't add new gear over time, so once you have crafted your Ascended gear you are done. Forever.
Okay thanks. I tried Elementalist for 2 hours and I was having fun. I'll play some more and decide if I'm going to buy the expansions.
I will say for all the anons in the thread, 1-80 is an outdated experience compared to what level 80 is like.
Explain
1-80 is just filling a check list and doing hearts, 80 zones are all meta events and group events, hearts are very rare.
You basically do anything to gain progression on mastery levels, they dont raise your power cap but let your character just do more. Also specializations are fun
Are those stuff you mentioned at least fun?
Progressing masteries and all the meta events are 1000% better than leveling 1-80.
>meta events
I have no idea what those are, but can I do those solo?
yes and no
omega big open world events, requires mass of people, but even if you just tag mob and hit it once you still will be counted in (there are 3 tiers of rewards)
You will never have to do those solo, all players want to run them all the time.
Basically, the entire map runs on a one-hour cycle, then it resets. Imagine 100 people completing events all over a map that gradually evolves, coordinating through global chat, and then there's one big final event in the middle. At this stage, players get some "advantages" depending on how well they performed during the previous hour: if they completed all the events, they may get let's say more vehicles during the final siege, or the enemy horde is weaker.
Of course you can join and leave whenever, you don't have to be there when the entire meta starts.
So no, you can't do those alone. But you don't have to be on Discord either: just run around the map, complete events with other people, and maybe look at global chat to see if someone needs help somewhere else on the map. It's a "multiplayer-lite" experience.
>But you don't have to be on Discord either
Exactly what I wanted to hear.
It got taken appart in the steam forums btw. Everyone hates it and the shills are on suicide watch
I know Tempest is a good support, but can it do good DPS too?
I actually kindof hate how you have to play all the way to 80 then basically learn a completely new playstyle with the elite specializations, by that point you are use to your class, then just have to throw it aside to start using a different one.
They should make the elite specs accessible earlier or at the very least make the weapon sets they add usable earlier
You seriously want me to play a game that promotes itself with this screenshot?
Is there some problem here?
Wasn't this shutting it's servers down?
No?
It never has.
You don't have to spend 100 on convenience items unless you're a full on moron and you fall for all the traps.
>he also says to buys boosts
You get one for free and you'll be swimming in so many tomes I'd never pay for a boost.
And it has less openly overt furgays and trans because there's no RP scene
You also don't need discord to do anything other than maybe Challenge mode raids and strikes,
Anon is just being a salty prick about it
I just started as a necro and literally everyone else I come across is a necro too
is this the braindead moron class?
No it just tends to attract edgy kids.
it's the meta afk farm for gold so brazilians/venezuelans all make them.
You know exactly what it is, and so do the edge lords. Whats most disappointing is
>people make necromancer
>dress them to look like a fricking generic doll wearing bright colors and rainbow glow effects
Come on there is some good shit in the game to mess with, go full edge.
I am thinking about starting fresh after not playing for 10 years, anyone on EU wanna join?
