Serious answer: Many of my favourite games (or at least many of the games I consider unique and interesting) have female protagonists. Tomb Raider, Mirror's Edge, Last of Us, etc.
I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or which way the causality might go. Maybe there's some third variable that both makes me more interested in a game and makes the devs more likely to go with a woman lead. Either way, I'd have to go with the bottom option.
