No, GNB was barely touched going from Shadowbringers to Endwalker. If you never took the other two steps of the Gnashing Fang combo off of your hotbar you can still use them as you did before. If you weren't around for Shadowbringers, took them off your hotbar, or just want the old way of playing, you can slot Gnashing Fang on your hotbar three times to get the exact same playstyle. Everything else was an addition.

While I'm not writing the game off completely yet, it does feel like Shadowbringers will have been the peak of this game. I suppose they can turn it around in the future like they did before but now it just feels like SE is just resting on their laurels. WHM is the simplest healer, it gets you into the mindset of healing, and it's a low risk way to feel out when and how much you need to heal.
But Sage is the fun one. When I come back I'm likely making Sage my main or at least my secondary even though i'm garbage at healing, because it's just that much more interesting than other jobs.
Sage looks cool, but yeah I don't really like the idea of just jumping into a level 70 class. I actually enjoy the slow grind of skills and the growth. And I still have some non-dps hesitation feelings. Definitely don't think I'll play healer or tank in raids or anything.

Farming moogle tomes pre patch is one of my favourite things to do at this point. Its relaxing, you get to talk to the people in your party finder group and it is combat content. Heck you can even use BLU for once.

No, HW relic also sucked because it was a tomestone grind. I don't want to turn in tomestones, I want to fulfill objectives and feel like I've gone on a journey in order to earn my weapon. We had a perfect system for this in the last two expansions so you can't even try and pretend that tomestone grinds are the only way to do relics.

The problem with EW isn't a lack of content it's the fact that what we got was pretty shit. Criterion and island Sanctuary both suck dick and they were two of the big bullet points of content for this expansion. The walked back not giving us Hildibrand and Deep Dungeon though so I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll have a real relic questline again for 7.0.
Unfortunately that means variants will get the axe because small indie company despite the idea behind them being pretty good.
Variant Dungeons should have just been the dungeon design going forward. Expert would suck a lot less if the dungeon that was 8 months in rotation at least had different routes. Or at least tie them into the relics for frick's sake.

Criterion is kino though, solving the puzzles to unlock new routes with my friends and then clearing the savage mode with my static gave me some of my best memories of this expansion, they just need to give the hard modes more rewards and it'll be perfect content

I like DRG the most. It was the first class I picked and I didn't really liked it initially but somewhere in SB I noticed that the rotation became fun.
Right now I have all classes at max (save BLU, haven't done the latest content yet) and DRG is still my fav class. I also like RDM, WAR and AST. And possibly RPR, but I need to play it a bit more. So even if DRG will turn dogshit in 7.0, I'll still have a Maiming job that's enjoyable.
I like RDM aesthetically, but playing BLM just makes it feel like total shit by comparison with some bullshit "rez tax" tacked on even despite SMN being as stupid good as it is.
I'm the other way around. I prefer BLM aesthetically but enjoy RDM gameplay more.

my issue with this is that if you made a pve mode with the pvp movesets it would be more akin to a moba
we can take aspects of pvp philo and implement it into pve ie. dark knight using hp for skills, but my problem is that most of the people suggesting pvp only want to have 4 or 5 buttons that REALLY don't do much 2 of which are quite literally just your pve melee and aoe combo. pve would just be more boring with pvp skills because you would actually be doing nothing but pressing 2 button for 10 minutes during savage. right now 14 is in a weird spot where raids are getting harder but jobs are getting easier, they need to find a middle ground and add actual variance to jobs that make it worth optimizing.
optimizing is difficult enough that most people have no idea how to do it already. recent BLU content with how few BLUs are using Moon Flute is evidence enough of how dumb the playerbase is. And making the MSQ harder won't make the players better

WAR is the default MT of every party for a reason. Its defenses are so comically overtuned its insane, and its even so insane that it gets unique Holmgang Exclusive strategies because of course it does.
Its not, Nascent Flash is so hilariously busted compared to the other 3 tank mits its unreal.
No other tank mit double dips on its mitigation like Nascent does, you basically get the ability to act as healer #3 for literally no cost to you at all. Just because you're not using it doesn't mean it cant be used.

People keep saying "nothing to do" or "content is done in a week and then forgotten", but as someone that has only started playing one year ago,can someone please explain to me if this is a new phenomena or if the seething has always been there inbetween expansions? Because most if not all arguments I see pointed at the current state of the game seem to work for the state the game has always been in. The game is full of "do once, maybe twice" content all over since 2.0 ended and I haven't noticed any particular change in structure while going through it all. Every time I ask for clarification, the biggest thing people seem to point to are Eureka and Bozjas which are both community-containment areas where all you do is grind over and over.
All I am saying is that, besides the new relics being ungodly lazy and reeking of "sorry, working on XVI's dlcs", the game seems to be in a fairly usual state.
Also, did the doman enclave cause the same level of seething at the island sanctuary? I mean, they are both places where you go once a week and then you're done with.

Doman Enclave was a completely new and unprecedented type of content that didn't take away from anything, and in fact came during the expansion with the most amount of side content (Eureka, 2 ultimates, a deep dungeon). And then Shadowbringers expanded on the idea by having the players actually build the restored area instead of just donating money. Island Sanctuary moves backwards in comparison to those two, so it's justifiably shit on.

Well you can imagine, I did what there was to be done. Levelled the 2 classes, played the story, extremes, trying to solo Orthos but I'm not too good at that. I want to finish the blu spellbook but the last couple spells (not including the new ones) are frustrating me a bit.

Yeah, because the server-wide thing was the expansion on Doman Restoration. It's the same idea, rebuilding part of the city. But with Ishgard restoration they turned the idea into a whole server effort with players going and gathering the materials and building the necessary stuff.

The area only built up if the players contributed, so yeah. They didn't get to pick what went where, but they had to actually work together and turn stuff in. And Japs started seething when NA finished steps faster than they did and it turned into a whole competition.
I mean that's cool and all, but mechanically it seems to me they are the same exact thing. Grind stuff, give stuff, cutscene happens. For a second you got me thinking the whole community had to decide the final look of firmament or maybe that would end up influencing how the housing district would look. At least personally I don't care particularly about racing over "who get it done with faster".
I understand you might be talking about the scope, obviously something involving the entire community feels grander, but ultimately it boils down to a similar premise and result.
Ishgard restoration was basically like crafter/gatherer endgame, and as a community effort it was one of the coolest things this game has ever done. It's one of the few pieces of content that really embraced the MMO aspect. But then with Island Sanctuary we go backwards into isolated single player 'go here once a week' content.
I guess we'll just have to disagree on the overall point. I do agree it's cool (even though 'crafter/gatherer endgame' sounds more like hell to me and I am prone to believe people that don't have crafters complained about the devs wasting time on content only for a small part of the playerbase), but mechanically what was the difference? You go to a specific area to get whatever materials you need, you grind like a madman there for a while, then you go back, craft the materials and give them in. Only, instead of doing it weekly, you do it all the time. The only difference I see is the community aspect which is obviously lacking from the island.
I suppose we care about different things.

MNK turned out well and now it's a steady climb up with leveling and job abilities/traits
The problem is that they slapped things onto jobs because they needed to fill a quota of job ability/trait additions for the expansion

Another Viera Dancer here, and the job feels like they really only thought about how it plays at 70+.
RPR feels like it wasn't designed to be played until lv 80.
Its not something they even think about with new jobs.
At 60 it's at least functional, but prior to that it feels like a basic 1-2 ranged dps with nothing going on
But yeah, 70 and 80 change the flow a lot and even 80 content gets annoying because I keep trying to fan dance IV.
70 to 80 feels fine enough, but I also only got to 80 on it today and haven't had much time with enshroud yet to see how i feel about it.

Stop reworking jobs. Just add more passive traits for stat boosts. Jobs were perfect at 60 and should have been left alone after. I fear for what things will be like at level 100. Part of me wishes they just left it at 50 and just kept increasing ilvl

Just completely finished ARR and I thought the bedroom summons was going somewhere else.
Damn this shit is getting good.
How much you liked ARR is a good indicator for how much you'll like the rest of the game.
They spruced up ARR a lot by adding some really cool moments and by fixing some dungeons, so some people shit on it because they played it how it was but I think it's better now.
They should probly make the trials more fun to do though like Thornmarch but overall they did a great job cleaning it up.
