Seriously, just a few moments in any of the major hubs is powerful shit. And the voice acting + dialogues are often really enjoyable to read and give you more room to at least slightly roleplay a character.
Bear in mind especially that a TON of dialogue choices are gated behind your stats, and that characters can seem to respond to you differently just based on how much they (dis)like you, and while it's mostly just illusory it really contributes to the FEELING of something very interacting and immersive.
But yeah that feeling when you just enter Hollywood or frickan CHINATOWN -- CHINATOWN in general or especially when you go to that club. You've spent the first half or more of the game being kinda weak and confused and getting sent into suicide missions where everyone fearlessly tries to kill you. And now? Now you're the thing that frightens people. Someone not up to speed is TERRIFIED realizing what you are, and it all feels like a perfect buildup.
Honestly if the game needed anything more, it was just *even* more of that. The combat is pretty meh, especially gunplay (though that too is par for the course with vtm), and it does do some imsim stuff but often doesn't really have it nailed in terms of many deep mechanisms to get things done... What 100% carries the game is just all the writing, dialogues, and social interactions. So really I'd love to see something with even more focus on just making responsive characters and schemes-within-schemes.

Its a full on narrative RPG where you play a Vampire in a modern setting and do frickloads of vampire shit. It's a fricking unicorn. Usually the only time there are playable vampires it just means "this fantasy game guy has lifesteal powers." The fact that it has a bunch of memorable characters, competent writing, and some fun set pieces too? And supports multiple playstyles, some of whom (Nos) are drastically different? It's not a surprise. Sure the gunplay isn't multiplayer FPS tight and the end of the game is combat funnel, but it's still rightly a classic.
One of the great parts is that gimick mechanics like the Malkavians insanity, actually gives you special insight if you know enough about the setting, or has played the game with one of the more standard bloodtypes
Quirky 90s writing and character, a competently written story, never-to-be-forgotten about sidequests. A world that felt alive. All of that mostly because the devs were absolute fan of the tabletop RPG, and wanted, against everything, to represent it decently on the computer.
The devs literally did overtimes after the studio was dissolved to complete quests and patches, unpaid. That's fricking dedication.
Characters are excellent. Voice acting is excellent. RPG mechanics are decent, writing is beyond excellent. It's VTMB. It's a cult classic for a fricking reason. Everytime you say you "don't understand why so poplar", you only prove you didn't play it. Install it, and play it.

I've always found the idea of a thoroughly devout vampire interesting; not exclusively to a faith per se but to something. Yes but if she is at least capable of really loving you long term, even if you're still going to yell at each other daily. I don't think any of the other 4 are. Jeanette and VV are fickle, Therese and Ming are too cold and calculating and would throw you under the bus to get their way.
NTA but I'd also suggest you look into RVC ai voice changers. Modern shit can even run with 300-400ms response times on a good gpu, but even on my shit hardware I can often pull off just a second or two of delay live output, or just run it as slow as it needs and get the best quality.
Only takes about 3 mins of recordings minimum, and more than 10 often barely matters, shit them into a model with a free google colab processor, and bam on your own hardware you can get it even imparting subtle voice intonation and other nuances onto a character sounding spot-on.

you know if that were the real world instead of hunting them the human elites would find ways to become vampires without others controlling them but then well probably eventually end up like the movie daybreakers.
Since human security agencies now have captured vampires, and are out hunting them thus bringing more in, giving vampire blood tapped from imprisoned and isolated leeches to top agents to improve their abilities and increase their lifespans just make sense.
Largely left up to the game master, but usually stuff like no longer having frenzy checks, being able to go a long time without drinking or maybe not having to drink at all, etc.
I got such mixed feelings about Outstar. On the one hand her babushka-mode time is clearly upon us, on the other I'm Russian and so PLAPing Polish women is as instinctual as breathing to me.

AFAIK the game doesn't punish you like Redemption. You will get sometimes random spaz outs, but you can generally contain your beast because the game doesn't let you go past certain points of humanity, as in the horrible actions you make no longer make an impression on your aleardy corrupt morals. You get some new dialogue options for being a supernatural psycho. For example encountering Pisha evokes no reaction in you since you did worse things than her and she is pleasantly surprised by your (lack) of reaction to her nature.

There's a lot actually gained by a first or third person pov in terms of immersion, better handling ambience, playing with problem-solving and minor bits of exploring your environment more.
Meanwhile with something like classic fallout, I think it's way more suited to a pulpy game where you kind-of always know which directions to head in or investigate, or are often running around killing and looting almost everything. It's why I think it works so well for a classic low brow hack-n-slash rpg or for fallout so well.
At the same time, FO1/2 definitely have a lot of fun with being "dilemma simulator 2161/2241". You can use all your power and often meta-awareness to try to make very informed choices and see what happens... or just be romping around the wasteland having a great time blastin' everyone who's an butthole to you or gets in the way, so I guess it doesn't force the moral choices too hard, but hey still a thought.

A sufficiently connected or powerful one could probably get away with it in places where cremation is the primary form of funeral body disposal, with enough planning. Immediately preserve the fresh corpse via their own acceptable means, then be able to snack on it for however many days or weeks, and just give the bereaved a small chunk of their ashes mixed with some animal or object's ashes since they won't really be able to tell the difference.

Is Tremere with Thaumaturgy and persuasion good enough to get most options in quests without minmaxing/looking up shit in a guide?
You can probably max those two out before you're even halfway through the game. There are dialogue options that require either Perception or Investigation (I can't remember which), but they're very few. Some quests require good stealth and hacking skills for optimal completion. There are also some situations where a high Seduction would be useful, like when it comes to feeding within quest hubs

If you've got the GOG version it's pretty much ready for play, it already has the unofficial patch pre-installed
There are a few nossies who can maintain non-revolting appearences, either through lucky transformation that is hideable under clothes, Tzim or Trem flesh/majic crafting or simply archieving such skill with obfuscate you can remain partially un-observed even when talking to a mortal right infront of them.
Tho there is nothing stopping you from making your brapmaster vampire.
iirc no amount of magic or flesh crafting can override the nosferatu curse, and obfuscate has a dot that can allow the nossie to appear as anyone else, including beautiful people but that doesn't actually change their appearance, just others' perception

I think the atmosphere, and the general idea of getting fricked over and over trying to get an ancient object. The movie has a serious noir vibe in the beginning, and the twist in the middle makes it campy and shows it doesn't take itself seriously. Michael Caine's character is so wienery and proud of his (not so good) plans, like LaCroix was, and his lady hire keeps acting completely outside of his ideas, but still saving his ass, like the fledgling.

So I downloaded the game yesterday cause my pc broke 6 months ago. Lost all my data and got the game from a web, then patched it with the latest patch there is. Everything seemed fine to me until I started to walk around...the textures of some things are just...bland. Not that bad looking, but surely there are lacks of shadows or colors in some of them? Game runs fine tho. I remember the game looking better than this last time. I checked some gameplay and yeah, there is a tinny difference in the colors of some things and some quality on the textures.
Any advice? Tried messing around with the nvidia specs but dunno what to change exactly there. Tried some other resolutions too but the thing looks the same. And the "Shadow" option doesnt affect anything at all. I can turno It of from "Complex" to "Simple" ir "None" and there is no difference!

I'm currently playing through the game for the first time and holy shit is the game easy as frick when he wakes up in '99. I built him as a buffed up melee guy and he shrugs off fricking everything so far. The game even let me keep that kickass blood draining sword. Pink, Lily, and Samuel or whatever his name is are pretty much just there as meat shields, even when they're frenzied half the damn time.

Seriously, just a few moments in any of the major hubs is powerful shit. And the voice acting + dialogues are often really enjoyable to read and give you more room to at least slightly roleplay a character.
Bear in mind especially that a TON of dialogue choices are gated behind your stats, and that characters can seem to respond to you differently just based on how much they (dis)like you, and while it's mostly just illusory it really contributes to the FEELING of something very interacting and immersive.
But yeah that feeling when you just enter Hollywood or frickan CHINATOWN -- CHINATOWN in general or especially when you go to that club. You've spent the first half or more of the game being kinda weak and confused and getting sent into suicide missions where everyone fearlessly tries to kill you. And now? Now you're the thing that frightens people. Someone not up to speed is TERRIFIED realizing what you are, and it all feels like a perfect buildup.
Honestly if the game needed anything more, it was just *even* more of that. The combat is pretty meh, especially gunplay (though that too is par for the course with vtm), and it does do some imsim stuff but often doesn't really have it nailed in terms of many deep mechanisms to get things done... What 100% carries the game is just all the writing, dialogues, and social interactions. So really I'd love to see something with even more focus on just making responsive characters and schemes-within-schemes.

Its a full on narrative RPG where you play a Vampire in a modern setting and do frickloads of vampire shit. It's a fricking unicorn. Usually the only time there are playable vampires it just means "this fantasy game guy has lifesteal powers." The fact that it has a bunch of memorable characters, competent writing, and some fun set pieces too? And supports multiple playstyles, some of whom (Nos) are drastically different? It's not a surprise. Sure the gunplay isn't multiplayer FPS tight and the end of the game is combat funnel, but it's still rightly a classic.
One of the great parts is that gimick mechanics like the Malkavians insanity, actually gives you special insight if you know enough about the setting, or has played the game with one of the more standard bloodtypes

NTA but I'd also suggest you look into RVC ai voice changers. Modern shit can even run with 300-400ms response times on a good gpu, but even on my shit hardware I can often pull off just a second or two of delay live output, or just run it as slow as it needs and get the best quality.
Only takes about 3 mins of recordings minimum, and more than 10 often barely matters, shit them into a model with a free google colab processor, and bam on your own hardware you can get it even imparting subtle voice intonation and other nuances onto a character sounding spot-on.
I was the nips were cooking up some good stuff a few months ago but at the time it was like 19 steps to install it and most of the directions were in moonrunes so I didn't have the desire to frick with it.

AFAIK the game doesn't punish you like Redemption. You will get sometimes random spaz outs, but you can generally contain your beast because the game doesn't let you go past certain points of humanity, as in the horrible actions you make no longer make an impression on your aleardy corrupt morals. You get some new dialogue options for being a supernatural psycho. For example encountering Pisha evokes no reaction in you since you did worse things than her and she is pleasantly surprised by your (lack) of reaction to her nature.

There's a lot actually gained by a first or third person pov in terms of immersion, better handling ambience, playing with problem-solving and minor bits of exploring your environment more.
Meanwhile with something like classic fallout, I think it's way more suited to a pulpy game where you kind-of always know which directions to head in or investigate, or are often running around killing and looting almost everything. It's why I think it works so well for a classic low brow hack-n-slash rpg or for fallout so well.
At the same time, FO1/2 definitely have a lot of fun with being "dilemma simulator 2161/2241". You can use all your power and often meta-awareness to try to make very informed choices and see what happens... or just be romping around the wasteland having a great time blastin' everyone who's an butthole to you or gets in the way, so I guess it doesn't force the moral choices too hard, but hey still a thought.

A sufficiently connected or powerful one could probably get away with it in places where cremation is the primary form of funeral body disposal, with enough planning. You can probably max those two out before you're even halfway through the game. There are dialogue options that require either Perception or Investigation (I can't remember which), but they're very few. Some quests require good stealth and hacking skills for optimal completion. There are also some situations where a high Seduction would be useful, like when it comes to feeding within quest hubs

I think the atmosphere, and the general idea of getting fricked over and over trying to get an ancient object. The movie has a serious noir vibe in the beginning, and the twist in the middle makes it campy and shows it doesn't take itself seriously. Michael Caine's character is so wienery and proud of his (not so good) plans, like LaCroix was, and his lady hire keeps acting completely outside of his ideas, but still saving his ass, like the fledgling.

Demons hate humanity, want to destroy humanity, and revel in corrupting the image of god and their replacements in any way possible. You can pay for your own delight by fricking up humanity, or hastening its decline and degeneration.
40k is a lot less personal, it trades in souls, since humanity has escaped its cradle. You can sacrifice an entire planet to endless torment since, there are millions more to weather the cost. In WoD, there is only earth, and its a real consequence if you doom a city to damnation.

the majority of Tzimisce are firmly in the camp of the Sabbat as flesh-shapers and the like, and the dusty old fricks who survived the founding of the Sabbat are bitter isolationists mainly relevent only in eastern Europe or wherever they happen to have staked (heh) their claim. Also, they fricking hate the Tremere and most refuse to join the Camarilla even temporarily since those sorcerous c**ts are so prevalent there.
So I downloaded the game yesterday cause my pc broke 6 months ago. Lost all my data and got the game from a web, then patched it with the latest patch there is. Everything seemed fine to me until I started to walk around...the textures of some things are just...bland. Not that bad looking, but surely there are lacks of shadows or colors in some of them? Game runs fine tho. I remember the game looking better than this last time. I checked some gameplay and yeah, there is a tinny difference in the colors of some things and some quality on the textures.
Any advice? Tried messing around with the nvidia specs but dunno what to change exactly there. Tried some other resolutions too but the thing looks the same. And the "Shadow" option doesnt affect anything at all. I can turno It of from "Complex" to "Simple" ir "None" and there is no difference!

Salubri is most human, therefore most sane. But they are both cursed with moralhomosexualry in their feeding and being most favoured target of other of their kind, fostering more paranoia than Nos have.
Toreador are most sensual, therefore most in contact with what it means to be human. They are also stuck in tunnel-vision to extacy.
Ventrue are most power-hungry, that also creates the most rational of the vamps.
Nos are most inhuman by form, so they compensate most of the vamps(not always) to be human. Its a so-so result.
Tremere are fake vampires, so they are human with implanted vampirism. They are also crazy enough to abandon being one for imortality.
Brujah argue you can never define humanity properly, so they go into the trashbin.
Gangrel ignore the question and tell you to get the frick off their lawn, so they are pretty human actually

I'm currently playing through the game for the first time and holy shit is the game easy as frick when he wakes up in '99. I built him as a buffed up melee guy and he shrugs off fricking everything so far. The game even let me keep that kickass blood draining sword. Pink, Lily, and Samuel or whatever his name is are pretty much just there as meat shields, even when they're frenzied half the damn time.
