>Gym leader ace is lv40
>Team is in their mid 30s
>Wild Pokémon in the area are around lv20
It's starting to become unfun. I think the scaling was okay until now, but both the trainers and the wild mons are pathetic. Is grinding Tauros encounters outside the Safari Zone really the best alternative? I dread having to grind for the e4.
use x items
Reminder OP is the type of person that has an IQ low enough to complain about XY being too easy.
HGSS did almost everything right except for scaling, I still remember hours wasted grinding Mt Silver
It was indeed wasted, given that you don't need to do that, nor are you supposed to. You go and fight Red right after beating Blue. Maybe rematches and second E4 first if you're feeling daring.
if you feel the need to match red’s level to beat him you’re doing it wrong
>Gym leader is lvl 40
>Team is mid 30s
seems balanced to me, what do you need OP a nuExpShare so you can overlevel and oneshot everything, is that what you call fun?
HGSS completely fricked johto's balance by removing badge boosts and replacing stat exp with evs
And why would you need to grind, pray tell?
Your team sounds to be perfectly capable of handling it.

>he needs to grind

My brother in Christ they gave you ice types right before this match. How could you not use one?
>NOOOOOOOOOO I NEED TO BE ON PAR WITH moronic AI CONTROLLING DOGSHIT TEAM OF POKEYMANZ TO WIN!
Skill issue. You're actually fricking awful at Pokemon.
use a water resist and status to just muscle through the stat deficiency
you also get a choice specs from the lake of rage and a choice band/scarf from your mom if you don't want to strategize
how terrible at pokemon games do you have to be that you have to grind at literally any point in any of them? jesus fricking christ are these the people I'm talking to when I have to argue with morons who think the DS games are masterpieces?
I just killed Kingdra with a specs ampharos
no, these are the people you argue with when you say the ds games are good
>team is in their mid 30s
Sounds perfectly capable of handling it if you're not moronic
you're not supposed to match their levels
you're supposed to beat them with lower level pokemons
As someone who's played FRLG a while ago and Emerald very recently, it doesn't seem *impossible* at all to beat a gym leader that's higher level than your pokemon if you know what you're doing and have good equipment. I marched through FRLG without deliberately grinding, but fighting every trainer and knocking out wild pokemon when I could. I ended up being a good 13 levels lower than the champion and having to revivescum a *lot*. For Emerald I didn't grind until the E4 and it was smooth sailing when I didn't make some dumbass move or misinput. It's been too long since I've touched HGSS, but I do recall certain things being harder due to the lack of badge boosts from GSC. I dunno if thats true or not.
By the way OP, if you're not afraid of getting potentially clowned on, post your team, their moveset and items if they have any. Maybe I or some other people could help out with battle plans
>4 pokemon
>mediocre borderline garbage movesets
>only 1 held item
>probably 0 EVs across all the stats
her gyarados is literal setup fodder, the most basic strategy can easily take her down even if you’re underleveled.
You can literally spam 30lvl mareep's thunders and they'll all die with no problems.
kingdra has unresisted stab and no weaknesses. gen 4 dragons are stupid, there's a reason half of them are banned in competitive and then they had to make a fairy type later
Why do you need you grind? I just replayed gen 2 and it was shockingly easy except Red
