It’s just so goddamn grindy and the scenes are spread so thin compared to all the other games. If you want to see what the series is really good for, go play colony. It’s easily hakika’s best game and it should give you a good impression of why people praise the series.

You need to just pick something you're passionate about, as making a game is a lot of work. If it's not something you care about a lot, you probably won't have the follow-through to finish it. Then you've got to consider your methodology. How are you going to get your artwork, sound effects, engine, events, structure? You should have at least a decent idea of how that will work before really getting into it. If your project is any level of complex, your first 'done' thing should be a vertical slice, just prove out the smallest deliverable set of complete content, an event, how you got to the event, working assets, etc etc.
Start small. Just pick a scenario you think would be nice and make a short and simple game for that. It's way more important to get something finished before you start feature creeping. Learn whatever you want to include mechanics-wise before you make the game, don't suddenly add something completely new in the middle of the game. That would feel jarring and out of place and it would also tempt you to keep doing it which would lead to the aforementioned feature creep. Then in your next game you can review everything you learned while making the first game and make the feature set more impressive from the get-go, now that you know how to do those things. It's not shameful to start small, not everything needs to be an instant patreon hit with hundreds of hours of playtime and dozens of different routes. Way too many beginner wegdevs burn out because they try to do fricking everything at once and then they can't keep it up for the update schedule they promise. In fact, I suggest making it your goal to release your first game as a finished product, just to see how developing suits you, how long it takes for you to make a single H-scene or a chapter of story, etc. It's all important groundwork and you'll thank yourself later.

Direct AI output is pretty fricking easy to spot, and a lot of people feel very negative about it, while also being ethically ambiguous - so your ability to sell your work then becomes dicey as frick and you're basically forced into the Patreon paypig model if you want to monetize at all.
Still gives people negative opinions on it but if it's just a project you're doing for fun, then yeah do whatever. I think AI can have some real applications in this space for shortcutting certain shit, but taking the final output and putting it in is noticeable.

img2img is good enough at that to work, I think I know what image he's talking about and it may actually predate controlnets.

Can you draw yourself at all? Because if you can draw anything that you consider presentable, I suggest you instead >draw a shitty sketch that gives an idea of the composition/posing you want >img2img it >then use the AI generated image as a guide for drawing the finishing pic
You can either trace the outlines or just use it as a general guide, depending on how heavily you want to "cheat", but this way you would offload the biggest hurdle onto the AI (anatomy, composition, more detailed and complex parts of the clothing etc.) and just produce the final image yourself in your own style. AI art is still super fricking easy to spot and it's really offputting for a lot of people. It's pretty much the definition of soulless.
That looks nice. I suggest at least trying the workflow I mentioned. Just straight up trace the outlines if you want to make it easier and then just learn some simple but appealing rendering style for the coloring.

It’s just so goddamn grindy and the scenes are spread so thin compared to all the other games. If you want to see what the series is really good for, go play colony. Yes, the games happens one after the other. Colony is actually a game that you want to play blight and awake beforehand for, since it meshes the best of both worlds together.
If you want to stick with blight, go ahead, since it’s still a fun game. It also gets a lot better in the endgame and postgame, so you can look forward to that. I just think blight’s main story is boring.

I tried playing a newer release a year ago and the werewolf boss fight at the end of the ruins was missing. That, and I'm pretty sure there was this abandoned lab section at the very beginning and you talked to a scientist there. The lab was used as the h-scene viewer.
The only hgame i was interested in got completely censored and all the good scenes were removed because the developer got coaxed by some troons gaylords on discord that it wasn't alright to have defeated rape scenes when the selling point of the game were those scenes. Not only that but they also went out of their way to delete and take down any previous versions of their game. It was just such a terrible experience that I've taken to not supporting any games that are in development even if they seem promising.

I really want to start small and make a complete experience (maybe 20-30 min) to see if it works. Still overthinking about the genre and how to not get lost in scope. I really need to start soon
You need to just pick something you're passionate about, as making a game is a lot of work. If it's not something you care about a lot, you probably won't have the follow-through to finish it. Then you've got to consider your methodology. How are you going to get your artwork, sound effects, engine, events, structure? You should have at least a decent idea of how that will work before really getting into it. If your project is any level of complex, your first 'done' thing should be a vertical slice, just prove out the smallest deliverable set of complete content, an event, how you got to the event, working assets, etc etc.
Start small. Just pick a scenario you think would be nice and make a short and simple game for that. It's way more important to get something finished before you start feature creeping. Learn whatever you want to include mechanics-wise before you make the game, don't suddenly add something completely new in the middle of the game. That would feel jarring and out of place and it would also tempt you to keep doing it which would lead to the aforementioned feature creep. Then in your next game you can review everything you learned while making the first game and make the feature set more impressive from the get-go, now that you know how to do those things. It's not shameful to start small, not everything needs to be an instant patreon hit with hundreds of hours of playtime and dozens of different routes. Way too many beginner wegdevs burn out because they try to do fricking everything at once and then they can't keep it up for the update schedule they promise. In fact, I suggest making it your goal to release your first game as a finished product, just to see how developing suits you, how long it takes for you to make a single H-scene or a chapter of story, etc. It's all important groundwork and you'll thank yourself later.

You can either trace the outlines or just use it as a general guide, depending on how heavily you want to "cheat", but this way you would offload the biggest hurdle onto the AI (anatomy, composition, more detailed and complex parts of the clothing etc.) and just produce the final image yourself in your own style. AI art is still super fricking easy to spot and it's really offputting for a lot of people. It's pretty much the definition of soulless.
