>ha, i fooled you, i'm not Literally Who!!
>IM ACTUALLY LITERALLY WHOOOOOOOOOOO
??
The story in this game is such a mess lol people pretending to understand it are straight up lying and making up headcanon

Shut the frick up, homosexual.
>game literally tells you who he was in the intro
Maybe pay attention.
>chieftan of the badlands!
Oh thanks for explaining intro, now it makes sense
I hate zoomyshits so much, it's unreal
I feel like I've seen this thread a solid dozen times now.
Sage goes in options field.
why that look like a PS2 game?
You have been telling this joke for two years now.
first time playing literally any fromsoft game?
zanzibart...
zanzibart has the deepest lore of any from software games
I still think the second phase should be called "Forgiven Myrmidon" instead, since myrmidon is a title in itself.
kino
is he mad because I turned his daughter into a puppet?
He doesn't have a daught, his kids with Marika were Morgott, Mohg and Godwyn.
Nepheli is his descendant. not said how far tho.
"His daughter" actually helps you kick his ass if you put her on the Stormveil throne.
>daily elden ring seething thread
2 years and 2 months without paying rent
hes zanzibar didnt you read the lore?
>tfw forgot the final t
zanzibart..... forgive me.......
HOUX
I think it's less of him being literal who (the game does tell you about him already in the intro) but it's just that by the time you reach him you kind of forget and, due to how narrative works in From games, there's no hype behind the character to make you anticipate him so the 'oh shit' impact is gone and you're left with just 'huh? I guess I was supposed to be impressed?'
what kind of spergoid brain do you need to have to not retain info
What kind of spergoid retains every piece of this moronic lore soup especially over 100h?
Halfway, yes. Which could be 50h behind you depending on how you play
Multiple characters talk about Godfrey and you literally fight his ghost halfway through the game
Yes, being a recycled boss makes him so much more impressive!
this ruined him
if he had completely new mechanics play style maybe it would of worked
but fighting his ghost then getting to him
completely ruined the magic
I love it when actual 1 IQ morons make authoritative posts. It's always so fricking funny.
You’re half right for the Hourah Loux moniker. Sure its cool Godfrey has a past before becoming a lord but the game builds up Godfrey more than the former.
of course. that was the twist.
Its a poorly done twist. The intro introduces Tarnished who the player meets and sees and has dedicated questlines towards. Godfrey has people constantly mentioning him, murals, deeds and history. You cant expect anybody to have the investment.
do you really not see the problem with your logic here?
>all intro tarnished given time except loux
>godfrey gets fleshed out
>twist is godfrey = loux
ergo loux has been fleshed out, you just didn't realize it.
The game itself treats these as two different individuals and even personalities. Serosh suppresses the jovial, violent, barbaric and dangerous Hourah Loux, the Badlands Chieftain. Godfrey speaks in eloquent prose, fights using an axe, wearing kingly armor. We know of the deeds of one, not the other, we have reason to be invested in one ID and not the other. Its like asking people to care about who Anakin Skywalker is when all we see is Darth Vader in the OT.
>Serosh suppresses the jovial, violent, barbaric and dangerous Hourah Loux, the Badlands Chieftain.
this is entirely headcanon. jovial? homie he doesn't even have dialogue as loux, he just grunts and roars. and you're still missing the point. the game explains Godfrey to you, then when you face Godfrey you also find out he's Hoarah Loux. that is your explanation on him. his time in the badlands is no more relevant than your characters backstory. the only one it is relevant to is Nepheli who has her own plot about taking over Stormveil due to her heritage.
I think that's kinda the point, actually. The game builds up Godfrey a shit ton, only to have the man himself admit it was all bullshit and just a costume he was wearing. This also carries the intended implication that the golden order had directly weakened him by convincing him to suppress his true nature, although by this point in the game the tree's already on fire so it's not like you nedd convincing.
>All the seething fromtards in the replies
Lmao
Thanks GRRM
>show Horah Loux as a dead tarnished in the intro
>he's actually Godfrey who is alive
Shit is moronic. I don't know how any desperate loregay can pretend this makes sense.
His model and animations are so noticeably shittier than everything else in the game i believe they just rushed his bossfight near the end of the dev cycle so they could have another bossfight before radagon, they probably didin't put much thought into it
>>show Horah Loux as a dead tarnished in the intro
all Tarnished were dead, including the protagonist, you complete moron
Who cares, fake game for fake gamers.
From should just link Vaati videos to every scene, like a popup, for zoomer brainlets
an embarrassing thread made by shitters.
>who is he
>the game tells you
>but I forgot
>you fight him when you get to the city with his name over his health bar
>but I forgot
so this is the intellectual prowess of the average shitter
Elden Ring is a good game, but man is it shit.
Souls game are just arena boss battles without lore or story so i don't get why you are upset
>Souls game are just arena boss battles
Since when?
Quick reminder that Fromslop story doesn't even exist outside of Youtube Fanfics. The developers clearly didn't care, the game clearly doesn't want you to care, so why are you?
And is that supposed to be a bad thing? Stick to movie games if you care about story so much
dumb zoomer
No, zoomers are the ones calling games like TLOU and Alan Wake masterpieces. In reality they're not even games
>the game clearly doesn't want you to care, so why are you?
ESLs shouldn’t be allowed to speak.
>Hoarah Loux, Warrior
>daughter is called Nepheli Loux, Warrior
His last name isn't Loux, it's "Loux, Warrior"
>I don't understand it immediately therefore it makes zero sense
Anon, if your mother ever told you that you were a smart boy, she was lying.
Even if you're a moron and forgot who he was, the point of the fight is still obvious. A guy putting on the act of being a noble warrior king of the golden order, when pushed beyond the limits of what that station would allow, discards his disguise, and fights you as the person he really is beneath the pretension: a bloodthirsty barbarian. This pattern is repeated in almost every major boss fight in the game. The God Devouring Serpent opens its eyes and reveals itself as Rykard, Godrick admits he's too weak to beat you and turns himself even more monstrous to try to close the gap, Morgott is forced to confront the curse he suppresses within him, Maliketh overcomes his guilt and reclaims his title as Black Blade, keeper of the rune of death, Malenia stops pretending to be a maligned heroine and embraces her existence as a goddess of destruction who only cares about victory, and upon defeat, Radagon is shown to be nothing more than a literal tool of the elden ring itself. And every one of these can be understood even if you haven't been paying attention to lore at all.
Malenia is an heroine, she has lost her own self to the illness
That's why you get to cure her and she is alive in the end
Malenia isn't sick, she is sickness. She outright admits it when switching to phase 2, and revels in it.
There are people who think shes more righteous than radahn despite this
>There are people who think shes more righteous
Malenia is righteous and without Radahn the Haligtree would have replaced the Erdtree and Deathroot would have disappeared before most of the bad shit happened.
>and without Radahn the Haligtree would have replaced the Erdtree
Malenia ruined the haligtree, not Radahn.
Malenia was fighting Radahn because the Eclipse can't happen without the Dark Moon. This is also confirmed by the DLC reqyiring to kill Radahn. Radahn apologists have been constantly BTFO
We don't know why the DLC requires defeating Radahn, so for all we know, the characters with the DLC keys meet us at the Radahn Festival or learn of our fame after the Radahn Festival. Based on Fia's rune creating a zombie hell, the eclipse probably wouldn't help anyone.
do you ever stop talking out of your ass?
>without Radahn the Haligtree
It was Mohg who kidnapped Miquella and Malenia who decided to move all the way down to Caelid to pick a fight with Radahn.
she doesn't switch to anything, she blooms because she can't die, moron
Malenia is the only merciful character in the setting. She uses unalloyed gold to hold back the rot, with a prothesis that Radahn ripped off of her. Malenia didn't decide for the Scarlet Rot to devastate Caelid, and every time the blooming happens Malenia loses control and her sanity. She blooms when she gets heavily injured or on the verge of death, because she can't hold back the scarlet rot from progressing like she instead normally do through sheer willpower. She also hasn't ever bloomed a third time (which hints she might become truly lost in the DLC).
>Malenia didn't decide for the Scarlet Rot to devastate Caelid,
Yes she did. Just like she does in the boss fight. She's not mad, she's filly coherent. She's just evil.
>She also hasn't ever bloomed a third time
The boss bloom was the third, that's why she's called "goddess of rot". The second was against Radahn, the first, against the blue dancer.
>Yes she did. Just like she does in the boss fight. She's not mad, she's filly coherent. She's just evil.
headcanon
Are you the same schizo also screeching that the Dung Eater corrupts souls because he likes to rape people and has no idea of what he is doing? You talk like a schizo.
Malenia is a good character, clearly a writer pet, and the incantation you get for defeating her says she bloomed only twice in that very moment, one in Caelid, the first time, when she was nearly killed, and one under the Haligtree, when she was nearly killed. She is now left as a blossom realy to bloom again, and she can be given a needle, for which she also reacts, so she is alive. There's zero sign that she bloomed before Caelid
Malenia doesn't revel in destruction, she basically gets taken over by the cordyceps of the Scarlet Rot. The consequences of her trying to use a figurative behelit at Caelid kick in again.
This game should win GOTY every year shazamtrannies continue to cry and complain about it.
Reminder that Vaati literally makes shit up and 90% of all his theories do not make sense on a fundamental basic level and in fact self contradict themselves most of the time
>LITERALLY WHOUX. WARRIOR!!!!!!!!!
Hoarah Roux...
The EVER BRILLIANT GOLDMASK.
HOARAH ROUX, VOILÀ
I don't know if it was because of the consoles but it seems that From Software wanted to make all the bosses optional.
>On DS some bosses are triggered without fog gates
>In DS2 they expanded this with the ability to fight the bosses before their arena
>DS3 goes even further with most bosses not having fog gates on the first encounter, specific triggers (first boss sword), meeting the bosses before fighting them
>Some Elden Ring mini bosses are entirely optional
What's next? They'll pull the bosses aside. I was interested in grafting as a mechanic, but for that the boss had to be optional, something to be triggered like gwyndolin. Only Erdtree will tell us the direction of their next game
Dark souls was never about fighting bosses, shift of the focus happened in 3 and it's mostly due extremely linear game's progression.
It happened in 2 when Namco forced them to advertise that the game has 6 gorillion bosses.
In 2 you can skip 85% of bosses if you want to, stop lying.
Irrelevant, Namco made bosses a focus of the games in 2.
>Source: my ass
Does it mean they're all tasteless slop for dumb and poor people ?
From's cutscene design sucks. There are some cool moments but most of them take way too long
>Enter boss arena
>Cutscene starts on random bit of scenery. Stare at it for about 10 seconds.
>Snap cut somewhere else, camera slow pans to the boss's feet
>Cut to the sheath at the boss's hip, as his gnarled hand slowly reaches for the hilt of his weapon
>Watch him draw his weapon for 20 seconds, which is accompanied by the sound of grinding metal (and falling trees for some reason)
>Camera pans out to a full body shot of the boss, where he finishes the scene with a heavy feral breath, a deriding statement about your character, or just stares at you in dramatic silence for a while
you described literally not one from cutscene
What cutscene you are referring to?
Should've been a Female
What I don't get is
Why the frick wasn't it the OTHER way around.
Have him start as Hoarah Loux, even if the player knows it's Godfrey, it still assumes he's lost his grace to the point he can't use his kingly name or something
Then midway through the battle have him get his grace restored and go Godfrey on your ass.
He earned Marika's love by being Hoarah Loux anon. He remained Marika's love by becoming Godfrey. Player has him on the ropes, he has to earn Marika's love again, kills Serosh.
I like to believe there's a bit more tenderness to it but it's never really explained what their relationship was like and doesn't really need to.
>I like to believe there's a bit more tenderness to it
Well yes, but she was first taken with his abilities as a warrior, not as a regent. I've read that comic, it doesn't suggest contrary to what I'm saying.
If you understand the thematic relevance then you wouldn't be saying that this thread is dildos.
>comic
lmao giving it a bit too much credit there, but I did enjoy it. I was only contesting the last part. it's not that he had to "earn her love again" it's that they're both dutiful people. even shattering the ring was part of the plan. they just underestimated his tarnished warriors.
>If you understand the thematic relevance then you wouldn't be saying that this thread is dildos.
I never said the thread was dildos?
I get the thematic, just saying to pass off as a "big moment", it would be better as Hoarah to Godfrey
It's because Godfrey was always the fake identity, not the real one.
Nepheli… forgive me…
Because it's better the way it is, he decided to throw away his noble and heroic persona just to go feral 1v1 with you. It's very simple and effective trope, the other way around is not as impressive.
Become Elden lord
>why?
UHHHHH
>Having detailed exposition is for trannies, I would read a book if I wanted to have story in the game!!
>Having subtle exposition is bad because everyone is literally who!!
>Lore/storytelling done through enviornment and items is bad because I'm too lazy read and discover = no lore or story
You Black folk will never be satisfied.

I hate vaati so fricking much.
Damn, IQ levels really are going down each generation
these games are action-rpgs. not story games. you want story, read a book. you want fun play game. simple.
Elden Ring story is like trying to build a jigsaw puzzle with half of the pieces missing.
>I can''t wait to watch my favourite youtubers fanfic- I mean lore video on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>He'll tell me just how deep and well written this is!!!!
yeah and the end boss is just some blond lady.
spent the last 80 hours killing mountain sized beasts but the blond lady ooh she is the ultimate villan
in my years of gaming, elden ring might be the deepest fiction I've ever came across, years later and I still can't wrap my head around how detailed miyazaki has sewn the lore
