i am currently making an ARPG/diabe-girlke set in buddhist hell. it will be isometric with semi-procgen dungeons, RNG loot, and socketable items. however, it will have WASD controls and won’t use the boring point and click combat that diablo has
please give me ideas for mechanics
and features you’d like to see included in such a game
> won’t use the boring point and click combat that diablo has
What are you going to do as an alternative?
WASD controls with dodge, roll, strong/fast attack options, some combos, hitbox based combat.
Victor Vran does this
V Risin kinda this. You can try it.
True, but that game gets really repetitive like 5 hours in.
Hack and slash? Do you mean DevilGaidens or Diabltimateallliancelikes?
>Diabltimateallliancelikes
Why did you commit this crime against my eyeballs?
I can't get past this shitty fricker. (Alastor Scourge of Acheron) in the athenian catacombs. I'm a ranger (hunting + nature magic) and apparently his fight is awful for rogues or hunters. He's immune to poison and very resistant to pierce. (Guess what my main forms of damage are.) Does anyone have advice for beating him? I've looked up videos, I've read guides, and I've tried at *least* six times to kill him. I've tried doing this:
"The safe way: You can actually fight him from the door using a bow or spells (hold Shift to lock movement). This way the door won't close and you can back up any time to recover. He usually won't react to your attacks but instead keep on moving around randomly. It can be a bit tedious to fight him this way, as he constantly moves out of range (except when attacking with "infinite range" attacks such as the Lightning Bolt)."
And he just stayed out of range so I couldn't hit him at all.
Another guide said to buy a staff with undead damage, but my character is dexterity based, not intelligence. The videos I've watched, the players always kill off all his summoned skeletons and then get a few hits in. I can barely get 1 hit in before he resurrects them. (And his health is huge and slowly heals.) At this point I'm considering respeccing.
I've got the arpg itch but I can't decide on one to play, any suggestions?
Anything but diablo 2, already played plenty of that.
Torchlight 1/2
Titan Quest
Grim Dawn
Sacred 1/2
Diablo 1
Torchlight is an exact clone of Diablo except with the gayest, lamest artstyle and setting imaginable. Shit looks like a bargain barrel abandonware MMO from 2007, and not in a good way.
desu, the artstyle wasn't what bugged me when I played it. I finished one, and by the time the game ended, I was beyond ready to play something else.
Chronicon
Grim Dawn > D2 > Last Epoch > PoE > Diablo 3 > Diablo > Titan Quest > Torchlight 2 > Torchlight
What's with all the western garbage in this thread. Where are the actual action games?
moron
Whats d2 resurrected like now? I haven't played since release but I heard they've done a bunch of balance changes
Just play Lost Ark. It's better than all of these games and gets an update every few months.
>he plays MMOs
Lmao
Hey atleast the stuff you get (levels, money, etc) mean something while in your games you can just alter few numbers in a textfile instead of grinding for hours.
Those mean absolutely nothing. And by your logic every SP game is worthless because you can just edit your save. The important part of vidya is enjoyment, not grinding something "meaningful".
But most ARPGs are all about getting satisfaction from grinding for many hours for some level increase.
>my fake money is better than your fake money
Now you are just lying out ya ass. The fake money in mmos is actually worth something. People are actually willing give real paper for this. But sure keep living in your delusion.
>The fake money in mmos is actually worth something
Only in the game. It's not like you can go to taco bell and pay with your rippedoffidiotgold coins. Thereby, the money is fake.
>haven't played PoE in years
>see anons say a new league is starting
>decide to give it another go
>league mechanic is kinda shit but whatever
>notice that shit drops less, maybe it's just my imagination
>get to maps
>notice that I can't sustain my mapping anymore and I'm constantly out of alch orbs which never happened before
>Chris makes a statement about the game yesterday
>turns out drop rates were massively fricked across the board but this isn't something worth mentioning in patch notes, apparently
I love how I managed to pick the worst possible moment to return to the game without even knowing
