Below average. It's very polished but shallow. Boons system suffers from being a stealth skill tree. Too much meta-progression. Combat is messy and favors braindead facetanking and autistic kiting too much. Forced "replayability". Obnoxious tumblr characters that never shut up.

            >Sounds like you need to fap
That's the entirety of ancient mythologies in general

            >Classically, most of that stuff is noncannon other than various zeus and posideon shenanagains.
It's more canon than Achilles and Thanatos being gays dumbass

And how is all that "noncanon"? Ever heard of Daphne or Helen of Troy?
How many kids did Nyx, Gaia, Echidna, Tethys and the Titanides in general had again, or even human women like Hecuba?
Persephone, Helen (twice), Europa, Danae, Briseis, Chryseis, Polyxena, Cassandra, Andromache, the list goes on, all got abducted.
Medusa gets raped, the trojan women get raped, nymphs are constantly escaping from Apollo and Pan, and the river gods and the centaurs pretty much have serial rapist as a racial trait.
There's only like four women in the entire mythology that escape all of this, Athena, Hestia, Hekate and Artemis (sometimes).
Even Achilles, the fujos favorite, keeps Briseis as a sex-slave and abducts Polyxena who is like 12 to marry her.

In comparison there's like four gods and three heroes who engage in homosexualry, with some being "canonically" controversial even back then like Patroclus and Ganymede, or straight up anti-pagan christian propaganda (the one involving Dionysus).

The whole dude ancient greeks were like turbo gays trust me is a meme pushed by gays like you who don't even know basic mythology outside of what some liberal youtuber repeats.
And if the game was even trying to be mythologically accurate instead of just pushing homosexualry, it should let you do far more than romance a man-faced c**t.

None of that happens in the underworld, mate. Hard to be enthusiastic about sexual conquest when you're surrounded a million to one by the dead.

That's exactly what happens in the main myth of the underworld. Remember Hades and Persephone?

Also the underworld has its own set of nymphs, because of course it does.

      greeks were homosexuals

wrong. Greeks though women were so shit and caused so many problems that some of their high caste individuals popularized more or less platonic love between an older and younger man, which of course would become erotic love in many cases, to remove the female bullshit from ruining and dragging down excellent men. The overall percentage was still far below modern homosexuality rates. The average joe wasn't a gay. It's as if future generations judged our society by the behavior and works of Freddie Mercury because that was passed on. On one side they'd appreciate our musical achievements, on the other they'd think we were all gays. Kinda like the Thai ladyboys existing doesn't mean that all of Thailand is homo. Homosexuality is a mental underdevelopment that occurs in early development age, when blind attachment doesn't properly progress to emotional independence in the growing toddler. (And abuse is a primary factor to cause that...)

Falls into the classic roguelike trap of being overdesigned. Lack of room, enemy, boss and build variety also doesn't help

      7/10 for me
The modern take on the characters is extremely bland below all the fluff. They're pretty cartboard. Hades has no edge and behaves like a California simp rather than a greek youth. The gods are superficially fickle and vengeful, but underneath fall for the same "we all love you and each other" California daydream.

Gameplay is pretty good, but it gets boring anyway eventually as there is not enough variety per run. After the first two runs i stopped losing and got the first ending very quickly, then had to grind forever for the second ending, which was a 15 second afterthought. So ultimately it didn't feel like anything happened other than running the same 4 areas over and over. The boss changes and dialogue were good, but not good enough to replace plot and make the game interesting. A lot of effort went into cosmetics and dialogues that are pointless.

Before Constantine’s conversion do you know how many Roman emperors never took both sexes into their bed? 2. Hadrian and Claudius. And Hadrian only fricked men. Do you really think things were so different like 300 years prior? You’re applying modern sexuality as in “who you are” instead of “what you do”, which was how fricking guys was categorized until like the 1800s. Gay men as you think of them didn’t exist, but the amount of dudes fricking dudes was way high and would have probably pissed you off.

Augustus and Marcus Aurelius were also straight tho. On the other hand Julius Caesar was mocked for an alleged relationship with a king of asia minor while Elagabalus was straight up killed for being a complete queer degenerate. Not to mention how everyone was more than eager to forget about Antinous and his gay little cult after Hadrian's death. So antiquity wasn't that much of a free-loving gay paradise either, was it?

          >Do you really think things were so different like 300 years prior?
Funny because it only took John Chrysostom to start preaching against sodomy for greek men to start collectively denouncing and persecuting homosexuality, quite clearly against their own natural ancestral boyfricking impulses I'm sure.

You’re straw-manning me into a caricature you can argue with more easily. I don’t care about rome as the gay paradise Im trying to explain to you that their definitions of a gay person aren’t synonymous with ours, and how that affects their record keeping. Seems a more fitting device could me categorized between tops and bottoms. They trashed Hadrians boy toy and gave shit to Caesar because no one looked up to a femboy. Sexually dominating other men was considered a masculine trait.

Last great new game I have played since it came out. Despite the aesthetic poz (homosexuals, black greeks) the gameplay is solid, replayable fun.

    Recommendations for newbies
    1. Artemis for high-damage slow attacks like the sword or paws.
    2. Dionyseus Hangover for fast attacks like the rail or Bow's special.
    3. Build toward Exclusive Acess, the most powerful boon if you get it early.

Fun game, although I remember there being far too much grinding to upgrade weapons and such. Not being able to just jump right into level 20 and get everything prior is just awful, especially since you have to advance for each weapon. It’s even worse when you’re trying to level up your relationship with certain characters and they just refuse to show up. Also Rama for life.

I would say that an anime girl with brown skin is African.
Just because the art style does not lend itself to expressing typical african features, does not mean the intent is not to have them be black.

I wouldn't say anime features are typically Caucasian either. They're just anime features.

moron detected, japs with brown tans are not that rare depending on the region and that's the general anime brown that characters like Nagatoro have.
Very rarely you see actual african characters and they are usually portrayed with a much darker and obviously black tone + sterotypical black features like big lips.

Of all time? Nah, it's fun sure, but gets repetitive quite fast, overstays its welcome.
Lack of enemy variety, lack of floor variety.
Farming materials for the upgrade on the palace sucks.
Eventually you just find out the builds that are clearly better than anything else and there's no reason to pick other boons.
Certain weapons aspects are just cut above the rest.
It's stupid that you have to do heat runs incrementally and not fill out the gauge how you want and retroactively get all the rewards, pads out the runtime and really makes it drag.
Regular rooms are piss easy, the only time you're ever under a risk of losing a run are at Theseus, Labyrinth and Hades.

The voice acting is top notch, the story and how it is told through speaking to everybody, to the bosses and Persephone, it was such a fricking treat and I loved solving everyone's problems and actually getting characterzation through each and every exchange of words. Chaos could've had a bigger role or at least more story to them, I thought they were going somewhere with Demeter being lead to believe that Persephone was dead and because she was such a cold and fickle god, she would've exacted some form of punishment on you and you'd have to appease her somehow, but no, she's just happy that she's alive, which was a bummer, but at least that storyline found a happy ending.
I'd totally play a Hades VN where you just talk to people and the gods, especially if voice acted.

Frick getting friendzoned by dusa though. AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ROMANCE THE OTHER FURY SISTERS

Really good game but it only became popular after going on steam. No one gave 2 shits about it when it was on EGS.
I played almost all of it on a pirate when it was on EGS, bought it on steam, finished all the final encounters and never touched it again.
From a gameplay standpoint it's enjoyable but it's definitely the easiest rougelite on the market. Shit is piss easy and can get stale, but the customizable difficulty system saves the game, so it never really becomes too easy. I don't see myself ever coming back to it now that I 100% it, but it has so much content before you hit that wall, it's worth a buy for sure.

It's got less RPG elements than I expected, which is not necessarily a bad thing, just not what I'm looking for atm. Got a refund. Might give it a shot again later, but right now I guess I'm just not in the mood.

Really wanted to chill with Artemis, Hermes, and Dionysus in the second ending but all we got was "Zues and Hades shook hands, then everyone went home!"

I don't regret my time playing through it but I haven't turned it back on since that ending

They should release a DLC where the family's rendered at a long-table, with unique dialogue for the event. Like holiday events in animal crossing.

but CoDg is nowhere near as good from a gameplay standpoint. By the time you played 2 runs you've done it all

      facts.

    >Beat the game on my 10th run
    >Start streaking pretty hard and get the first ending with Persephone returning to the underworld
    >Turns out to get the REAL ending I have to give nectar/ambrosia to every character in the game
    >Turns out I beat the game about 80 runs too fast for the developer and now have to grind
It's fine, it's fun. I just hate the way they designed the story and dialog progression.
