after making the mistake of pirating Elden Ring this week, I'm putting a permanent moratorium on playing a From Shit game ever again until Memeazaki is gone. creatively, the worst decision they've ever made as a fan of AC1 and Lost Kingdoms.

Because a person whose entire career is "having an opinion about video games" ought to be someone who doesn't suck at video games. You'd have no reason to feel angry about some random butthole cheating to beat Sekiro but when a Professional Video Games Player has to do it, it speaks to the state of his entire fricking career and every opinion he's ever put forward.
Imagine someone who wrote for a magazine about performance cars writing an article titled "I passed my driving instruction course by cheating and I feel fine"
Most reviewers (even on youtube too) uses cheats to finish those games fast. Just to write a review about them. Some don't but most do. The writer guy didn't even used invincibility or instakill cheats btw. He just made Isshin move at half the speed.
That doesn't make it better. The fact that your work is churn and burn and your opinions are half-baked when you shit them out because your employer values quantity over quality does not improve your credibility.
And I'm going to demean his work if that's the state of it. Maybe if enough people take a fat steaming shit all over half-assed game journalism, we'll see less of it because there will be economic incentive to hire writers who are good at video games and have well-formed opinions of them made by engaging in a thorough playthrough and giving due consideration to the things the consumers who read those articles actually care about.
Or maybe I'll just laugh at the state of his entire industry and go back to not reading any garbage PC Gamer writes.

What's the point of playing a game if you cheat your way through it? You play for yourself and yourself only. That's why I despise people who cheat and use cheat engines. It's fricking vain and pointless and it's definitely not something you should be proud of.
You can play however you like but cheating is not playing. It's like participating in a marathon but then instead of running, you're driving a car to the finish line. Technically you did finish first but no one will count that as victory or participation.

Nit to mention the tactics of slogging through 100 hours of grind so marketing department can claim 1000 hour long campaign.
I play through most games with Cheat Engine because I like to have fun and my sense of accomplishment comes from real things in real life. Have fun learning how to push buttons the right way while I frick my hot girlfriend.

It's completely fine to play on Easy or to cheat in a single-player game, but you have to have a good reason to do so, and to have experienced enough of the game in it's intended difficultly instead of defaulting to the easiest way.
Reasons such as reaching your skill ceiling but no longer being able to overcome challenges (as opposed to refusing to get better or learn or adapt), or losing interest in the game but wanting to finish it or wanting to see how the story goes, or to mitigate bad game design and/or some awful game sections, or to bypass grind.
Ideally you'd play the game at the intended difficultly and best curated experience? regardless if it's easier or harder, and only tweak it as less as possible to still remain within that domain, but if it is costing you your enjoyment, then frick it, cheat/easymode your way through. After all, it's about having fun, not "gamer cred". But frick babies who squeal at the first sign of a challenge and just want to mindlessly win easily at all times, what's the fricking point then?
Sekiro isn't even that hard, a lot of people go to Hirata early on and then get filtered by the grandma, when you've got dozens of other places to get better/stronger and come back to her later

I used the infinite launcher in RE3 Remake because I was not having fun and got tired of Nemesis's shit.
I beat Demonsouls, DS1, 2, 3, Bloodborne, and Sekiro without cheats and just felt relieved I didn't have to play anymore.
