nothing else can even compete for worst fromsoft area and worst fromsoft boss run-up holy fricking shit
It's bad, but you also have to keep in mind that these DLC areas were designed with co-op in mind.
Even if you only summon the npcs in the Horsefrick Valley, it makes the area like 5 times easier to traverse.
I'm not sure if this lends one way or another but Darklurker was supposed to be some sort of evolved form of Agdayne and is still labeled as such in the files.
nope
Darklurker was supposed to be related to Agadyne, Jojo-Stand style, who was once a boss.
Originally you were supposed to be chased by a dragon but according to the design documents they thought that it would've been overkill for the start.
Wasn't there some kind of interview that stated the first FEW areas of the game were all going to be extremely dark underground caverns similar to Tomb of Giants? To really ingrain those torch mechanics that didn't amount to much of anything.
there was on post on another dark souls 2 board that was talking about the origins of demons in ds1 vs ds2
i can't remember what the verdict for ds1 was, but it was interesting
and then ds2 was "soldier ate a lot and got fat because of a crush on the queen"
and that just perfectly summarizes what a fricking disaster this thing is, not only as a boss, but just a thing that exists
lmao
i wonder how much people's impression of the game would change if many of these fights were made into minibosses instead
imagine if pic related was changed to a bossfight with music and a healthbar, it would basically still be the same game but it would make the DLC feel much worse somehow
Honestly few games deserve a remake more, they basically gutted it more than halfway through. They should make the game they actually intended to make.
Why'd they remove heavy casting and make all the dlc enemies have 90% magic/fire/lightning resistance? Why did they let these idiots work on elden ring?
I miss pre-patch lightning. Modded is the only way to play these games, since the devs don't know what the frick they're doing when it comes to balancing.
>The idea is that the lake of magma is actually on the upper strata, like a caldera lake on a plateau. However, looking down from the top it was far too wide, that and the fact that there isn’t an adequate transition between locations meant we didn’t really communicate the idea as well as we could have.
You sure didn't.
that area is labeled as one of the first areas in game files. demon of song was initially a tutorial boss
shrine of amana as a tutorial level would be the ultimate filter
after the tutorial area
> here's your first real area bro
Shit area with shit enemies. especially the boss
> 5 minute boss run up
> no shortcuts
> terrible area design + no real area design
> don't have to "design an area" if it's covered in a fricking blizzard

Eleum Loyce could be the greatest dlc area in all souls games, seconding old hunters if it weren’t for cancer outskirts
I'm a big ds2 fun but I never have and never will touch the optional challenge segments in the dlc. they're all gay. but the dlc itself is excellent.
It's bad, but you also have to keep in mind that these DLC areas were designed with co-op in mind.

Makes sense given all he does is swipe lazily
That's almost every DaS2 boss.
First area was going to be what later was cobbled together into Dark Chasm of Old.
Darklurker is "the boss you're supposed to die against" then?
I'm not sure if this lends one way or another but Darklurker was supposed to be some sort of evolved form of Agdayne and is still labeled as such in the files.
Jesus. They really just super glued shit together to build the final game for both 2 and 3 didn't they.
And then recycled a bunch of content for Elden Ring. FROM gets way too much credit.
>And then recycled a bunch of content for Elden Ring.
Some also found its way into Sekiro
>it’s ok because….it just is lmao
Half of the content in DS3 is actually just unused content for Bloodborne. It's a fricking mess alright.
nope

meanwhile the real first area doesn't even make sense as one.
Bro just look at him.
I laugh every time. What were they thinking?
>"covetous demon"
>give it a big nose
what does from meant by this
DS2 did go overboard with the boss fights.
Quite a few of them could be trimmed.
there was on post on another dark souls 2 board that was talking about the origins of demons in ds1 vs ds2

>locking on
Oh those wacky journos.
Demons in ds1 were created from the chaos flame. Gladly Ivory King dlc some or less managed to retcon it a bit

This game turned out pretty decent considering how fricked up development was.
Honestly few games deserve a remake more, they basically gutted it more than halfway through. They should make the game they actually intended to make.

>play game
>have 13 lightning spears
>wow, that's fricking rad
>play game the next day
>have 2 lightning spears
hmm
I miss pre-patch lightning. Modded is the only way to play these games, since the devs don't know what the frick they're doing when it comes to balancing.
Where does one get these design documents?
My house 🙂
I'm not going to fall for this for the 7th time
Guess you won’t get to see the secret levels they never released

dude cmon that's not cool
Dark Souls 2 and 3 development meeting:
>"What if we just mixed up all the areas and bosses basically at random for no good reason?"
So every game after Demon's?
hehehe Semon's Douls
