if all you want is to listen to some add-on tell you when to avoid standing in badshit while you fight big homies in a circle, then WoW or FFXIV might be your MMO but FFXIV has a huge entry barrier of the story to enter that content (though you can buy a skip)
if you don't like that kind of vertical progression and prefer a drop-in social game or really like large-scale pvp, there's GW2
OSRS appeals to people that want that old school grind
for as much b***hing as people do about WoW clones, realistically, there haven't been very many and FFXIV is the only one that really fits the bill and even it separates itself by being story driven first, content driven second, so if people prefer that they can play their game
