I actually still play Ninjala occasionally, surprised that it's still getting updates and most people left playing are fricking monsters; but it helps that it's a genuinely good game you can fully enjoy without having to spend 50 bucks on some bullshit.

I'll bite, visually it's a mess, the controls don't feel particularly good, has the most generic sounding VA ever that just grates on your ears, struggles to keep 60fps.
One positive I'll give it is some of the music is good. It's just an extremely forgettable/average game.

There is a character with Miku pigtails...and there have been two collabs with the real thing so yeah, somewhere there is a male face and voice ninja using Miku's outfit.
Looking at this game I'm sure that Ninjala would be doing marginally better if it also released on PC with the same F2P systems they got going for the Switch(along with Crossplay probably).
Aside from that, I think the reason that Ninjala is still a thing is cause Gungho has that Puzzle and Dragons money still flowing in and this game probably costs little to upkeep in comparison.
Ninjala started declining around the time P2W was added, so they could probably be doing better if they left that part out. Turned the game from hidden gem to radioactive waste pretty fast.
It has a steep learning curve and gives off a really bad first impression, but a lot of people seemed to like it more once they learned stuff like "never play RPS" and "do gumbind combos". Probably not worth the trouble of learning it these days though, the fun parts are buried under mountains of other problems now.
That's because they got the co-producer of the first Dissidia to work on it. No idea if he's still around though, it feels like a lot of the original staff left after Lab with how things have been deteriorating.
