80's anime artstyle is so cool. Not like there are no good looking modern stuff, but something in this is much more captivating to me. The way they draw faces, hair, lighting, everything that made me interested in genre as a kid. I could call it the "soul" of anime.
Why did 80s nip women look so different. I'm not just talking about stuff like hairstyles and such. They had completely different facial structures and generally darker skin tones. I see it in tokusatsu too
>>No good BGC game
Have you played the Bubblegum Crash PC Engine game? it's a VN, but I think there's a translation out there.
The Iria Zeraim game is ass. I gave up 5 minutes into it, it's just walking around some dumb maze. I was actually surprised they never made a Project A-ko game.

There's also ZeiramZone on the Playstation if you want to try a different Iria/Zeiram themed game.
Hudson got absorbed into Konami.
Hal however is independent since 2002, they formed Warp Star with Nintendo so that they can deal with the Kirby IP and have Hal be independent again.

Had me until "soul".
The MSX version of the Gall Force shooter is better than the FDS version, they even adapted the main music from the anime for the MSX game.
Satoru Iwata and Hiroaki Suga made the FDS version.

Same reasons ones from the 2000s look different to the ones in the 2020s.
Those look a lot more similar. I'd say even 90 to 00 looks more drastically different than 00 to 20
Saturated colours from analogue film.

Amazing portrait quality for a 1986 Famicom game.
glorious 8 bit sovl
I had no idea they even made a Gall Force game. I watched the movies though. Thanks for the news.
They were quality games, worth playing.
What game
HAL started out writing games for Commodore PET and Vic20.
But Gall Force was their turning point.
Their Vic20 games were their best games.
On the Vic20 outside of homebrew efforts.
hudson is hal but successful and not reliant on nintendo bailing them out
