Anon 60% of automata's combat is a fricking bullet hell. This game has no bullet hell. Nier automata also has more emphasis on air combat since it has many massive and flying enemies. SB has almost none making air combos rather pointless.
Therefore it plays nothing like nier automata at all.

Because its like comparing sekiro to dark souls. They are completely different games at all. The droid pods in nier and sb dont even serve the same purpose. In nier the droids are basically a flying turret that you can also use to shoot other bullets during bullet hell sequences or is used to cast spells. In sb, the pod is basically a gun used to break obstacles and allows for semi third person over the shoulder combat but it is highly situational unlike the pods in nier automata that you pretty much have it shooting all the time whenever there's combat.
Again like I said, the game plays more like MGR and Sekiro than Nier. The fact that the game has qtes you use to kill bosses should have tipped you off.
You also kill god in the end so you ahould have compared it to Bayonetta.

I'm liking it more than Rebirth. What's good in Rebirth is very good, but it's also immensely bloated and reminds me of DK64 for having "too much content" that it runs out of steam long before it's finished. SB is a lot leaner in a good way, even if the voice acting is much weaker.

It's really immersive, the animation wind up for healing items needs to be fixed. The game is at it's best in the mostly linear sections. The open field is a bit of a chore to slog through.
I'm still early in but I'm enjoying the open fields. Every corner of it has something new, different enemy compositions, environmental hazards like turrets, unique puzzles with good rewards.

The tone of this game is fantastic, its really relaxing to me. Fun combat that clicks quick, low death penalties is a plus this time. The choreography in the fights is great, Eve really gets a chance to show off visually.
I really like the world and the people in it, feels way more sincere than some other games I’ve recently played.
Honestly I couldn’t be happier with it, it’s the best game I bought this year, including rebirth. Nice to play and enjoy a brand new action game, I never liked the look of bayonetta dmc or the anime one enough to play those.
They did do a hack job on a couple costumes tho. Could have fixed them better, the bunny one should be totally redone. That’s small stuff tho.

Great game, gameplay is fun and challenging at times, soundtrack is 10/10. Story is decent so far, not really NieR tier but wasn’t expecting that. VA and dialogue is mediocre with some good parts, I have a feeling it’s probably a lot better in Korean.

Not really a fan of how some of the enemies stumble around like they're drunk during some attack animations. It's like they can't actually decide if they want to hit me or not. A fourth swing when I'm expecting three is surprising and a good idea but the extra wind up is extremely unnecessary and hard to read.
This is my issue with the game sometimes. I genuinely can't read when the some enemies are gonna attack, most have the most obvious tell in the world but other times it's WATCHOUT
It's like they are doing everything in their power to stop you from getting into a rhythm. Between this and the 50 different types of unblockable death blows that each have their own button combo to evade, I think it's better to just button mash and pray.
Sadly the most effective way to play is perfect parry/guard, dodge off to the side and do light, light, heavy, heavy or a Beta skill. It just murders everything and deals a weirdly good amount of damage.

The good thing about Stellar Blade is that we finally have a dev that prioritises performance over fancy effects and balances nice graphics with 60fps, it's not broken on release, and as a bonus, has very good accessibility settings, including independent subtitle and UI scaling.
Coughing 70€ for an 1.0 disc was me impulse buying for fear it would not be possible to play it like that if I waited, but I have a problem with forced updates and it's been a fricking bad week with Fallout 4 already. Call it the "1.0 tax".

If you have a WB Pump that gives you the option to resurrect on the spot, she will fall down and lay there until you chose to do so or not. It's not censorship or a glitch, the creator just said he made deaths fast so people could get back into the action faster.
I think they were just too lazy to add ragdoll physics.
Like I said, there are full animations of her falling down when killed. You just don't see them unless you can raise yourself.
I've seen them and they're all canned animations. There are slight variations like if you die by getting crushed but they're all so lifeless that she might as well just be standing there like usual. A game as gore heavy as this should have more brutal death animations or at the very least have her body go limp and get dragged around for a few seconds. It's not some huge waste of time, there's a loading screen no matter what so they should have made it fun.
Solid 7/10 so far, feels a little empty and easy, normal enemies aren't that exciting. Maybe it will get better as I play more.

Yes, yes, a little bit but not exactly, it takes some inspiration from that but other games too.
The combat is fine. I'd say in the terms of action games it's worse than Automata, but better than Astral Chain. I think there's some interesting mechanical depth here but not a lot to work with. It's fun to perfect parry, teleport behind a creature and blast him away with a special move. It's nothing special but it gets the job done and is engaging enough.
I'd say it's barely "Soulslike" other than how Eve moves during combat and enemies deal a decent amount of damage.
You need 4 hands to play this game. It's not forgiving like any souls game. The enemies will frick you to death in every single encounter and there's no cheap auto win build or mimics to help you.
Closest comparison you can make is that it's Sekiro but with a lot more offensive abilities.

I really dont care much for FF outside of the classics (and by that I mean everything from 4 to 10) but honestly I think it's sad that my PS5 is going to one of the consoles with the least amount of games on it. And that is partially because nobody is willing to give us good games.
Sometimes there are exceptions, like Stellar Blade of course; but I haven't bought much else for the system aside from Armored Core 6, Octopath II, and Ghostwire but I haven't even bothered to play those games.
PS5 runs every game better than a PC.
I consider it a miracle if I can get a new release to run at all on PC day one. Console day one experiences can be shitty too but I can't think of one in recent memory as bad as the average PC release.

I’m about 16 hours in and it’s honestly everything I could’ve wanted. Between the customization for Eve, the blend of character action and soulslike elements, the music, the visuals, and the likable characters, it’s a great game. It’ll probably be my GOTY for 2024 unless Metaphor ends up being the absolute peak.

That's because many action games look bad in the hands of a bad player. Same with fighting games. Right now stellar blade is majorly being played by normies and coomers who arent very good with action vames so the vast majority of youtube videos plays like shit. Compare it however with someone who has good reflexes and knows what he's doing like ongbal and a game shines better.
This is not to say stellar blade's combat competes with the greats as it is faulty and the dev'a first attempt in video games, but most people aren't showcasing its best and just playing very badly. Although I think this is the input lag fricking them over.

Oh I dont think the game is hard. I am saying that the vast majority plays in a way that makes the combat look bad. This includes spamming parry very often that breaks the flow of combat. Using the same move over and over. Not making use of other mobility options so that character neutrals back to the slow awkward gait. It's like playing dmc3 and doing nothing but spamming stinger + million stab. I have seen people use tachy mode and doing nothing but the spiraling charge move over and over.
The game could definitely use a lot more polishing in this regard, to make animations in between transistion smoothly and more fluidly. The biggest crime is how slow Eve moves when not doing anything. It comes off like playing dark siders 3 or other soulslikes.
OK and? I'm going to spam parry because the game rewards you for doing so.

The MC score is right. It's an 8/10 game, but it's a pretty strong 8/10 game. Really the only thing weighing it down is the really shitty dialogue and the fact that Eve's personality is pretty flat. I tried to look up who wrote the game, and it doesn't look like it had an actual writer or a team of writers. So that makes sense.
Combat is great, soundtrack is some of the best video game music I've heard in I don't know how long, the women are hot as frick, the visuals and performance are really good, and the length is just right. I got the True Ending I hope we get a sequel.

I got to the Playstation buttons puzzle in the middle of the surprise Resident Evil pastiche and I could just tell that they filled it with their soul and passion. The timing for parries/dodges still feels awkward and completely arbitrary on an enemy-by-enemy basis, and completely unlike what my reflexes have been trained for on pretty much any other action game, but when you're feeling an encounter, you REALLY feel like you're on god mode. All of the side content has been pretty decent too, it feels like they always try to find some way to make things novel or varied for most of the sidequests and random things you encounter out in the wasteland, so it was quite a bit better than the MMO filler content I expected them to be. I don't want to judge the plot yet since I'm still only in Matrix 11, but the back and forth of doubt in Mother Sphere, or the people left behind just being petty and delusional has potential and kept me strung along so far. Eve purdy, customization options are even more purdy. Square Enix is so moronic in not releasing a third Nier by now that I'm very satisfied in seeing Stellar Blade as our spiritual Nier 3 until SE gets off their asses to make it. Somewhere between an 8 to 9 out of 10 so far, depending on how the story turns out. Most soothingly depressing game of 2024.

It's disappointing, the bosses are the only part of the game i genuinely enjoy but it takes hours to get to one. The wasteland fricking sucks, i much prefer the linear levels. The sidequests are annoying. The dialogue is horrible, literally every character is moronic, but at least that makes the game kind of funny. Overall i can't wait to finish the game so i can go back to playing helldivers.
