no. it should have been because they were combining SMT and FE but it appealed to neither of those fanbases and then gutted all the fanservice on top, plus it released on the WiiU which was a garbage console. a tragedy all around
>For some reason this game caused a lot of people to seethe.
They presented with a teaser trailer that only showed FE and SMT characters, then two full years of fricking nothing making people speculate a lot and when they finally showed it it was a fricking persona clone, of course people were furious.
If I remember correctly, they weren't even sure what type of game they were going to make when they released that teaser trailer. Was probably not a good thing.
It was if you were a fan of older style turn based RPGs and didn't mind the musical bits. The story and tone is pretty light hearted most of the time, so you'll be disappointed if you're expecting the standard SMT affair. It's actually a pretty good little jrpg but, again, you have not mind the idol shit. If the trailer song that everyone meme'd sounds like nails on the chalkboard to you, don't even bother.
I enjoyed it but its a budget game. Like overly positive and much shallower persona social stuff and smt gameplay. Instead of demons you level up various weapons and then can take skills from them. I liked that, its really simple but kind of addictive to gather skills from various weapons for all your party members. if you don't mind (a lot of) anime bullshit and enjoy persona enough to play persona lite then its a recommendation. The fire emblem element is limited to the weapon triangle and the 'personas' from what I remember.
What people wanted >Fire Emblem with SMT elements or SMT with FE characters as the avatars, plenty of potential to be had
What people got >Persona Emblem: The Idolm@ster
The censoring didn't help either.
The censoring was so fricking stupid. The only ones that would want this are the massive weebs and they're the ones that'd be most pissed about the censoring.
It wouldn't have caused so much outrage if they advertisement wasn't dishonest and manipulative. But ATLUS didn't even learn their lesson and did the same with Soul Hackers 2 which funnily enough shares the same director as TMS .
>we
lmao no. That trailer you saw was made up by Nintendo Treehouse.
It didn't exist in the JP direct. Instead, they just had an Atlus guy come out and say they were working with Intelligent Systems on a new rpg. IS being the ones who make Paper Mario.
Yes, and? They also make Warioware.
So for Treehouse to just assume the project was even FE-related at all and then make an entire trailer for it was idiotic.
Did you think your post was smart?
Gameplay is actually really good. Dungeons are visually interesting without being overwhelming. The way you learn skills and manage a different set of passives from active skills is neat, especially trying to manage your Session passives so you can build long Session chains. It feels good to build a fricklong chain, do a finisher, then extend into a second chain.
Everything else about it, like its plot and characters, is atrocious. There's some commentary about the idoru industry and how it has some dark undercurrents, but the whole thing's wrapped up in such a cheery bubble like Persona 4 that you can't take any of it seriously.
Plus Persona 4 did the idol story much better in Dancing All night, where it wasn't afraid to show the more negative aspects of the industry, with an idols suicide kicking off the plot
>For some reason this game caused a lot of people to seethe
They fricked up the instant they announced the project. They announced it as SMTxFE instead of something like AtlusxISys and only continued to piss people off from there.
I wish they had done a sequel and made improvement. The game got so much unwarranted hatred because it wasn't the crossover game fans envisioned in their head
Is very rare for companies to make a sequel of a massive failures, the obly example I can think is Capcom making MHS2 despiste MHS1 failure....and now they are remastering MHS1.
This was the funniest fricking game I seen with the most insane censorship on top of making both fanbases it was trying to push to mad, on top of things you wouldn't even believe were real.
>bring the VA back in to re-record (IN JAPANESE) that she is 18 >still censor her outfits and model anyways
Pretty sure this was the game that got that one NoJ employee to do an interview about how Treehouse abuses their job to get paid vacations to Japan.
NTA but I do distinctly remember reading an article that Treehouse flies to Japan to explain to the Japs what is and isnt acceptable. not sure if it was in relation to this game or FE
this was 9 years ago you fricking moron, holyfrick this was 9 years ago
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
They are called sex lines, imbecile
The debate was settled years ago, newbie. Ganker's medical community settled on "vegana bones"
Cum Gutters
For some reason this game caused a lot of people to seethe. Was it even good?

It’s not even Persona. I have no idea what the frick it even was.
If I remember correctly, they weren't even sure what type of game they were going to make when they released that teaser trailer. Was probably not a good thing.
Gameplay wise it was nothing special. About what you'd expect from low budget garbage like Trails. I've played far worse JRPGs.
It was just an SMT game combined with the more positive atmosphere of Persona's daytime. It borrowed characters from Fire Emblem as "Persona"
there is barely any SMT elements in it other than background references, this is just Persona but with Fire Emblem characters.

Oh, and it also has the hottest Nintendo girl in existence that you will never see in anything ever again.
Stock? No
60 fps mod of the Wii U version with the original content restored in Cemu?
Decent enough

It was false advertising, we were promised a SMT x FE crossover.

Not all women have vegana bones, chud
You're right. Many women are overweight.
they also removed the swimsuit and increased her age. like frick, pick your flavor of censoring and they said nah and went full moron
why did vegana bones even become a talking point, wasn't it an old Ganker meme from yumekui merry
because humans have a pelvis, but Californians seem to think it's a sex organ that must be hidden which is ridiculous behavior
This was the funniest fricking game I seen with the most insane censorship on top of making both fanbases it was trying to push to mad, on top of things you wouldn't even believe were real.
I remember that too. Everything about this game was a shitshow.

The fact that this is one of the very few Wii U ports that did WORSE than the original release says it all, really
I can't fricking believe the hacks behind this shitshow got to ruin Soul Hackers 2 as well
>rerelease is censored in japan too
Just wow.
The Japanese were so mad that nintendo offered returns...on digital version purchases, something they had never done before.
