I've never played a video game that has updates in my entire life.

before any tf2 gay comes here. NO, the meat your b***h or whatever update didn't ruin the game, it was already shit and only reason why the servers are up is because valve would be in trouble for making all the virtual items worthless.

Not him but I recall it was a hyper casualization update. Used to be more of a living world with lots of professions, and becoming a Jedi was very difficult to the point there was a big economy on the items needed. The update made Jedi a default class and whipped away the community in favour of action.
Before the update, the class system was very fluid and let you mix and match a shitload of stuff: You had enough points to fully master two professions and get about half of a third, and mastering even one combat profession was enough to be fully combat capable, letting you be both a fighter and a crafter if you wanted. After the update they added the concept of character and enemy levels, except non-combat professions didn't contribute to your level so now if you didn't have two full combat professions you could no longer fight worth a shit because all the mobs vastly outleveled you.
They also changed the combat system itself to mimic the way WoW abilities work, before the update there was an action queue system that was more about stamina and posture management and afterwards it was your basic "hit button that then goes on cooldown before you can hit it again" bullshit.
to top it off, since all these changes messed with damage calcs of weapons and armor, all existing items got restatted with no real regard for their current stats. Since practically everything in the game is player crafted with a deep system that rewarded your effort by making your stuff better than the competition, this restatting took a giant shit on the work of every dedicated crafter who put time into finding the highest quality materials to create gear that significantly better than players with mats of lesser quality.

Darkest Dungeon, because the devs just flipped on balance changes every other day because some moron screeched about it. Unfortunately the same thing happened with DD2.

I never played the cell phone style portion of MGSV so I was unaffected.
Every single large update Deep Rock Galactic gets makes it progressively worse and worse. I want to go back to vanilla gameplay.
I can't think of a game that died due to updates faster than pic related. Dev completely sucked the fun and soul of the game by making it more ~~*competitive*~~.
mgsv release gunsmith was peak fun. Making a magazine fed rocket launcher that shot shotgun pellets that each hit with the damage of a rocket and caused people to get tossed around was great.

It's old news, probably Konami tweaking the crazy gunsmithing system that allowed you to create silenced automatic grenade launchers. Or that patch that allowed you to get Quiet back by replaying her mission a bunch of times which made her arc "less impactful" or something.

Out of singleplayer games - not exactly "ruined" but I hate dumb nerfs (example being Bloodstained where crafting was nerfed and instead game forces you to grind a ton of materials with low rates and some endgame weapons were nerfed because morons on social media compared them to Crissaegrim)

In terms of censors or was the code just fricked?
Code was fricked, at the start you could literally hear other matches or the previous match in the main menu
Those are no longer an issue but now it's very rare that the voice chat actually works
They also did add censors for text chat, but it's your basic list and can be removed or even changed on a server to server basis, sk that's not really an issue.

Overwatch got worse with each update. It should be studied by these big companies. They got a huge success given to them and completely squandered it by trying to make more of an asshomosexuals. My friends and I quit playing when they added role queue.

Half Life 2: Episode 1
Felt like it was the first Half-Life game that had actually fun gameplay because they boosted the zombie spawn rates. Little bit later they released a patch that completely gutted the spawn rates because shitters couldn't beat it and felt insecure, whining about it on forums.
Uncharted 2 multiplayer update at some point. I vaguely remember things just being more fun prior. Subsequent entries never captured it again, and while 3's multiplayer had a really cool gimmick and was hugely expanded, the fun never hit the same way for moment-to-moment play. I don't care that much, though. Modern Naughty Dog is a toilet.
