Lob Corp is pretty top tier when it comes to the feeling of getting into absolutely fricked situations, are there any other management games with a good "disaster" feeling?
there was this one with armored crab dudes, but you didnt have to manage power or oxygen and you had infinite missiles so it was a bit shallow in that regard but it did have multiple scenario types. i dont remember the name.
Cosmoteer is the first 10 hours of a real game and it's been in development for over a decade. No progress on actual gameplay has happened in over a year, the developer is in a Yandere Dev-like cycle of adding minor pointless features to appear busy, like colored lights, etc. It's never coming out of early access.
I'm holding out hope Space Haven might be FTL Rimworld someday, but it's also in early access and I haven't really touched it yet. Seems promising.
Not him but Space Haven is pretty much a clone of Rimworld, down to even the stupid eating without table memes. Dunno about you, but I can't afford to trust a game aspiring to be a carbon copy of something as shitty as Rimworld.
trigon space story is "ok"
if you're a graphics prostitute and you enjoy big daddy SHADERS penetrating your dopamine receptors it's leagues ahead in FTL, but the gameplay is pretty much the same so..
It's mixed on Steam. Is the rating deserved? Is it less tightly designed than FTL? I wouldn't mind having more FTL in a different setting and graphical shell so long as it's as fun.
If you want more ftl download the multiverse mod. It is bloated, weapons are mostly op but adds a few more strats. Just skip the constant wall of text prompts
Vanilla is completely unappealing now. The weapons and character abilities (only a few special characters and it vanilla) add a whole nother level. But now I usually just get me a mod ion with pierce and fire and watch most burn
Already have. I like the variety, but the horrendous writing is so horrendous I'm one leftist line away from uninstalling.
Surprised it's mixed. Had horrible reviews when i last looked at it, surprised there was any positive ones.
What's up with it? Is it a bad game?

I still like vanilla, it's a lot more polished compared to multiverse and the writing is actually enjoyable.
Just described multiverse mod
Multiverse is nowhere near any of those points, except I may have not made it far enough to fight eldritch space monsters.
want to play one of my original ideas?
Not him but what are they and how finished are they? I'm sometimes down to check out content from fellow Gankerermin.
It's not exactly the same but I really liked Crying Suns.
Crying Suns had a cool style, but the mechanics weren't very deep, and the writing was kinda asinine.
>Not him but what are they and how finished are they?
there's a lot, mostly unfinished. I'll post a few finished ones.

and there's the build that doesn't have good labelling especially at the loadout selection screen but has a lot more stuff.

Wish we'd get an FTL sequel >Longer playthroughs >In-depth crew system, making individual members more valuable >Skill-based events instead of rolling dice on outcomes >Shops tweaking and upgrading aspects of your ship, with tradeoff mechanics (tougher hull but uses more fuel, more weapon power at the cost of shields, etc) >Ship upgrades visually and mechanically, adding new rooms and physically changing the structure of your ship >More enemy types, possibly eldritch space monsters instead of rival factions and pirates
Frick it just give me Sunless Sea but in space and no slow-ass water-traversal mechanics and I'd be happy
I am really glad to read this. I agree completely and I would say sunless sea was the second inspiration for
I've been making a game lately that is quite similar in terms of ship management. It also has modular ship parts and planetary visits.
There's both ship room addition and ship parts like you said. Also I'm working with an artist and we are planning some space monsters too. The crew system has skills, stats, and gear, and there are a lot of species. I agree completely about the events needing more skill and less RNG. There is a run mode that is more like FTL but the default is exploration mode with longer playthroughs.
Oh hey, its you again. I actually was the person wondering if you needed music awhile back as I'm working as a composer. You said you were fine though, but I thought I'd jog your memory.
Good luck on the game.
Man, is there a way to see all the DS games they released on their shop back then? I remember devs loved the DS for how user-friendly it was to develop for
I wonder just how many games we haven't seen that are just stuck on that hardware for the rest of time
it's not a digital game, it was released physically on a cartridge
only a small amount of DSiware was released. Most DS games are physical cartridges. Infinite Space was made by Sega. It's a space opera where you recruit hundreds of crew for your ship and frick your sister. Pretty based if you ask me. The end is kind of moronic though.
Lobotomy Corporation
lob corp's crew management fricking sucks
Lob Corp is pretty top tier when it comes to the feeling of getting into absolutely fricked situations, are there any other management games with a good "disaster" feeling?
Game is trash, stop pushing chink scamware

what was the graphical style?
Cosmoteer looks like it wants to be FTL + Starsector but it's in EA so I don't know how much depth is really there

Space haven is addictive, he has definately made some progress over the last couple years.
Believe in Todd and Starfield
Convoy is pretty similar
Love Convoy. It's not as deep as FTL, but there's a certain soul to it that I just can't help but adore.
frick now i have to play it again
Most involve way to much micromanagement to be able to get into

too many qualifiers

tiny dev peen can't come up with original ideas
want to play one of my original ideas?
FTL is the same feel as playing Freecell on Hard who the frick knows what ship management "feels" like
Wish we'd get an FTL sequel

Thank you, I appreciate that

frick the world for not making new 2d-ass games like this available on low spec. i should be able to play this on dosbox
This homie hasn't played Infinite Space on the DS

The space questing, crew recruiting, and ship tetrising was cool
The combat wasn't that interesting from what I remember
It's not exactly the same but I really liked Crying Suns.
