Has anybody played about this game? Should I really just pull the trigger on it? $30 is kinda steep to me for an indie game when I paid $40 for one in the past and it was so trash.
And no recommendations to Pirate, not only is that personally inconvenient for reasons nobody needs to know but...I also hate not seeing achievements or time played for my games.
In an ideal world I'd get to just lurk in one of these threads hearing people say interesting stuff about the game that convinces me, but Ganker fricking sucks man.

It's not defaulting to a generic mindless decision when you have no options. It's developing enough information to know which decision of the two is best. You're a moron. Most indie horror games are garbage. This one just looked interesting to me because it has actual gameplay, and apparently some actual exploration, which is rarer than it sounds for indie horror. Its a good game that lasts about 25ish hours to 100%. Also don't be fooled into thinking its survival horror because of how it begins its actually straight up action rpg with roguelite elements

I could't even name anything besides Hollow Knight and Salt and Sanctuary because i barely play these types of games. Valfaris is weaker but still enjoyable too, that's all i can remember. Withering rooms is really solid, things i liked the most was many items which allowed to make noticeably different builds and coherent story with an effort put into it.

What got me last time I played was getting the terror effect on me and dying because all the status effects in the game are represented by tiny bars on the right side of the screen. Thats where I want to be looking when a fast as frick giant ghost woman is attacking me...

uh oh...is this steam reviews having no standards again? wtf? how can this compete with hollow knight? one of the major reasons I like it, is because it perfectly marries combat and exploration for a metroidvania, never having an inferior version of one or the other.

Kind of meh. It seems like it wanted to be "stealth horror", with janky melee combat to incentivize sneaking and hiding, but you are FORCED to kill monsters to progress. They also wanted to do a "roguelite" thing where you lose all your stuff on death, but they give out so many slots to "remember" items (keep them after death) that you quickly run out of items you even WANT to remember, even while maintaining multiple swappable equipment sets.
Also magic is ridiculously overpowered, drop an upgraded harvest field and most enemies can't even hurt you fast enough to outpace your lifesteal even if you just stand and tank it. The magic system is based on consummable items, but shopkeepers have unlimited stock (but will only sell if your carried amount, included items used in crafted products, is less than a maximum) and the items are dirt cheap. The most expensive spells in the game cost a total of 5 coins per use, and even early game enemies drop that much to say nothing of the map loot.
Damn. The most indepth response I've seen on this game...I always worry that I'm looking at things too narrowly. But combat IS a core part of games generally and you say as much. And if it's this "broken" and wonky. Then I'm not sure whatever metroidvania aspects it has are worth. I can play other metroidvanias afterall.
