I never see people talk about it, and yet, I played it recently with my sister and I found it to be my favorite 3d platformer on the N64. This really feels like an unknown gem.

Yes. I shill it in N64 threads when I can or when I have the chance. I compare it to the similar Looney Tunes games on PS1, or Croc, Gex, Earthworm Jim 3D, etc. being that if you can stomach average platformers with similar mechanics, then Duck Dodgers is a really nice surprise. Some of the level design reminds me of Spyro.
Hell yeah, this was one of my most played N64 games as a kid and still one of my favorites on the system.
I found out about this game in 2018. I was surprised how good it was... I enjoyed it more than banjo tooie for example. I trully hidden gem.
I didn't knew this game existed until this thread. I really liked the 00's cartoon and while I know this game and that cartoon aren't connected, this still piques my interest. What kind of game is it?
3D Platformer similar to Banjo-Kazooie, but probably has more in common with variety platformers of the PS2 era with some of the random mini-games and mechanics that get used.
Great description, and I think it sort of encapsulates why I like it more than other N64 games Scotformers. It feels like a 6th gen game in some respects.
Ive always felt the same way, shilled it, never see it mentioned. The gameboy game is also pretty fun from what i recall.
>crappy shovelware game
>yeah that'll be 80 dollars in 1990s money
still insane to me those games were able to be made
You're talking out of your rear and have clearly never played it.
There were many fewer games and fewer general entertainment options in general, back then we were interested to some degree in all new releases and would give most everything a try, be it by rental or cart trading if necessary. In that respect it’s not a surprise games like this came out and are fondly remembered at all.
It's got a lot of personality. If you like Looney Tunes, it captures the tone well. Only draw back is the controls are maybe a little over-sensitive.
Also, if you like this, try Starshot. Another Infogrames platformer.
starshot SUCKS hard. One of the worst platformers on the system. Probably the worst actually.
very different games.
It's got that French soul though
i really wanted to like this game. The art is great, the music is good, but it plays so bad and the level design is atrocious.
is it better than Donald Duck Quack Attack?
Different. Probably about the same. Quack Attack is pseudo Crash Bandicoot. This is more like Banjo Kazooie or something.
One of the most nostalgic N64 games for me. It was among the earliest games I got on the system and I got my mom, who otherwise has zero interest in games, to play through the whole thing
One day I had the choice between this game and the transfer pak. I picked the transfer pak because I wanted to play my Gameboy games on the n64. I did not realize you needed pokemon Stadium, which I didn't have, or a Pokemon game, which I didn't have. So I was deprived of this shovelware kino and got a useless accessory. Anyway, this thread reminded me of that
this game would have become a classic if only it had support for 4 players.
It's average, but fun.
I only recently learned about this because it showed up in the Nintendo Power thread. I watched a review on YouTube and it looked really pretty and funny. Of course that doesn't say much about challenge or level design or anything else like that, but anyway I was impressed with what I saw.
