gran gets characterized as an innocent newbie player whereas djeeta gets characterized as a grinding-addict endgame player
Also, Gran is the f2p with only main story characters, while Djeeta is the gigawhale with all the gacha crew. It was a joke in the anime, but now it's canon in the game(s).
In Versus Rising they made him the side quest guy because apparently self insertgays were crying that Gran was too pathetic.
By that time they made a novel, multiple manga, and two anime adaptations with Gran so they likely thought that everyone would miss him because of it.
