JRPG has never really meant anything mechanically (which is why people have never been able to agree on what it actually means), and the term only grew popular with the western media that used it to box in Japanese games to more easily disregard them while they were heavily shilling Bioware games or whatever was big at around the time of the millennium.
WRPG and JRPG doesn't actually say anything about the games (outside of their origin) unlike the other terms.
The terms used to be used almost exclusively to shill or slander. By the games media at least. Game consumers have kind of hopelessly tried to ascribe some kind of post-hoc definition to the terms. But it's been kind of pointless since they never had any definitions to begin with and no one can agree on anything. And trying to imply that a specific kind or style of game is representative of an entire region like that is fundamentally silly.
