do people actually do this? I assumed they just used the normal game cube controllers
also how is it any different from street fighter, tekken, etc. players who spend hundreds of dollars on pic related
>players who spend hundreds of dollars on pic related
but pic related costs 90 dollars and is fine on its own without any modification for 9/10 usecases
just used a random pic from google of an arcade stick, wasn’t referring to that one specifically, didn’t really think I had to look up an image specifically of a 300+ dollar stick for my point to come across lol
>also how is it any different from street fighter, tekken, etc. players who spend hundreds of dollars on pic related
At the very least those are “real” fighting game franchises with arcade history and not a casual party game for children that accidentally had depth
the difference is that expensive fighsticks are built to last while expensive custom gamecube controllers still end up breaking down and require maintenance. there are people in the melee scene who actually make a living by fixing top players' controllers. the reason why b0xx, frame1, lbx, even keyboards are better is that they at least are significantly more durable.
Yes, shit like the notches and whatnot are intended to do certain tech in Melee more consistently among other modifications to get around manufacturing inconsistencies. Even the former get worn down due to wear & wear and eventually have to be filed again.
300 dollar controllers are a meme, any stock controller will do. maybe a snapback capacitor if your stick has snapback and you play a character where that's really important. unless you're literally a top 10 player trying to get the edge on zain or something your controller isn't the thing holding you back unless it's seriously broken
you can actually buy a recreation of the controller zain uses. it isn't as juiced as the controller iBDW uses with z jump and hall effect sensors. then again, marth isn't really a character where your controller matters that much compared to fox.
What controller do you guys recommend in general? My joycons keep messing me up because one of them de-synchs sometimes and the joycon stick is terrible in general
GCC is most comfy for me when it comes to platform fighters, and if you're playing Ultimate then the game is not nearly precise enough where microscopic manufacturing discrepancies will shine through
I want that controller so much. Not even just for smash bros but Gamecube in general. I've been using the White Smash 4 controller since 2015, it's a nice controller but the Panda looks like the perfect upgrade. Especially those face buttons, they look so comfy.
>camera stick should be same shape as the movement stick
you could easily mod this. the controller is designed for it, after all >X/Y buttons should be normal circle shape buttons.
this would look moronic and would feel weird with the GCC's button layout. the way they curve around the huge A button is great
Yeah I refused to buy into that bullshit anymore. Modders can get reasonable prices, or frick off. Until panda global releases their updated controller I'm just using smash ult controllers, shitty as they are. The sad thing is most modders controllers don't stay good past a few months anyways, so its not worth it in the long run. They're literally only charging for being overworked, which they are in a way, their queues are long for a reason so I get that. But honest to god at the point where you have a legitimate business like that going, its time to hire other ppl in and go and make a actual business out of it. At least get a proper online storefront for it.
>make an actual business out of it >have to register as a business to the state >have to fill out forms >have to audit >have to take inventory >get assraped by taxes
OR- >do it yourself as freelance work >have long cue but can keep as much of the money as you want
You're just gonna lose tons of business when the panda controller releases either way. You can streamline your business model or remain slow and unprofitable.
god the gamecube controller was awful
>he doesn’t just use bananas
>he doesn't play on a hitbox
NGMI

nothing about stick gives an advantage.
gamecube controllers are not all built the same and wear down over time

I'm not even a Meleegay but Smash is waaaay deeper than the average fighting game. It's not even the same ballpark.

good thing you don't need an expensive gamecube controller. unless you're a meelegay, in which case you deserve it and also take a shower

Don't forget to get your controller re-notched before every tournament!

step aside
No
the GC controller is pure meme and the only worthwhile thing about it are the notches on the sticks
you can just use a procon moron. and the adapter + controller isn't even that expensive poorgay, if some third world Mexica can afford it you can too
lol i forgot ultimate existed until i saw people talking about pro controllers in this thread. you guys are still willingly playing that game?
It's for melee

it hurts bros

i would use this controller for fricking everything. it hurts so much
This looks great but the camera stick should be same shape as the movement stick and X/Y buttons should be normal circle shape buttons.

Oh certainly, if that damn thing ever DOES release
Most tournaments play Melee on modded Wiis now, that wouldn't work
The panda controller is never going to come out. They bit off way more than they could chew
Just do a shell swap + mod the triggers and it's perfect
