Allowance from parents/gibs from the government.

You aren't a neet if you don't get neetbux. At that point you're just a loser mooching off your poor parents, it's usually unemployment gibs though.

yeah I just get money each month, been living alone all that time. It's not a lot of money mind you, but enough to pay rent, food, bill etc and have like 100-200 to spare each month so you gotta save up for bigger purchases

                Anonymous

Basically ALL long-term NEETs are living on disability (mainly because most unemployment gibs tend to come with in-built time limits attached, they'll let you NEET for a couple of years if you put in enough applications, but they cut you off after that unless you agree to do 25 hours a week of slave labor for the government, at least that's how it works where I live).

To get on disability, you generally want to either have a real disability (non-healing injuries often also count, even if self inflicted) or successfully fake a mental disability (if you do this, go for something that doesn't get better, if you fake something that can improve they make you do assessments every year or so to check if you're still disabled).

Most successful NEETs also participate in some form of indirect fraud (usually making money through some means that doesn't have to be reported under their own name, often by using a parent's bank account to shunt the taxes onto that parent or re-selling goods for physical, untraceable cash).

California is pretty expensive, like new york. You'd be a lot better off in any other state from my understanding. And yeah the racist shit exists in Europe too, my friend in the UK can't land a job because he's white and they'd rather diversity hire. Helsinki is pretty expensive too, capitals are usually pretty crap honestly. Not sure what it'd do in your shoes, consider a move if you know anyone from out of state? It's rough

                Winter War
                Result

It marked the end of the 105-day Winter War, upon which Finland ceded border areas to the Soviet Union.

                Continuation War

The conditions for peace were similar to what had been agreed in the Moscow Peace Treaty of 1940: Finland was obliged to cede parts of Karelia and Salla, as well as certain islands in the Gulf of Finland. The new armistice also handed all of Petsamo to the Soviet Union

Well I've discussed this before but being NEET isn't that easy for most people honestly. People are so used to the work life that they get overwhelmed with all the free time they have as NEET, you gotta figure out extra things to do and have multiple hobbies ideally..it's not for everyone. And sometimes I'll job for 3 months or so just to "break the habit" and remind myself how easy I have it. I totally understand where you're coming from.

You must pursue a passion with fervor. Aristocracies fell into the same problem as the NEET: too much time so they sat in idle, bored decadence. Hirohito the Japanese emperor pursued the study of marine biology to overcome idleness.

Lot of places to live on gibs. Disability/autismbux in the US (not sure if all states) is higher than Finnish gibs for example, although cost of living is also higher to counter-balance things. Most scandi / mainland europe offers gibs too, asia and slav countries generally don't. It's not being passive aggressive but you're saying literally nobody can do it just because you can't.

I currently live off money I get from the government, it's enough but every time you move it's a massive hassle.
If you're just getting SSI or something that won't even cover rent some places, but that itself is enough to live even in some places with high rent, you just have to have a roommate to split rent with.

You'll never own a gun, you'll never be able to drive a motor vehicle, and you'll be considered a flight risk for life. If a doctor wants you in a hospital, he can court order you to get into the hospital. Might not seem like an issue right now, but once MAID makes its way to America, the government might just suicide all the leeches

Actually more difficult than some would have you believe, generally the government unless your parents are very doting (which could be it's own problem) or unless you have some sort of inheritance.

Hospitals can't turn down anyone for emergencies, even if you're uninsured. And most dentists don't take medicaid. "100% medical expenses covered" isn't a thing in the US welfare system.

That's the point, but if you're on medicaid they can't charge you afterwards, at least on my state's version of medicaid which is very explicit about out of pocket expenses for emergencies.

But I kept doing it, jumping from one job that was slightly more convenient or paid higher and did it over and over again, bullshitting through interviews and learning each job to build experience until I finally landed one that is perfect for me and I actually don't mind doing. The longest I was stuck at a single job was 2-3 years without hearing back from any place I applied to, but you have to keep trying.

I believe you, but god damn options just seem limited.
Most people would rather work on side hustles and one job. It feels worthless.

How did you find areas with good internet, did you use some kind of website?

Not him but I just looked up what internet providers were in the area. Made some phone calls and looked for bundles.

I'm debating on rent this place I toured today. Would be 50% of my income (after taxes), but would get me out, and give me a lot of space. Honestly its the best deal I've found so far. The price gives me pause, and I have to decide if I want it in a day or two unfortunately.
There are cheaper but so many of the cheaper options are in sketch areas. I dont want to worry about dying every time I go to work in the morning.

Sounds good, but just think about how people keep raising rent prices.
Think about how people keep making it harder and harder to get ahead. Just think about how all the funding for policies and job fields fricking vanished during covid while people literally ran away with money.
If you can lock in a price, go for it. How long will it take you to move in?

            Anonymous

I could be in within the week.

When you extrapolate out that 50% lost income, when you take into account that you could have invested that, you're actually looking at way more than 50% less wealth 15 years from now, more like 80% or more less wealth.

I agree, but it would be in exchange for freedom, my relationship possibly being repaired and no longer falling apart, and (hopefully) an increase in self-motivation to put myself in a position to earn a better income.

              >self-motivation to put myself in a position to earn a better income.
I'd say that's worth it. But there also might be a way to get that motivation without committing to something so huge.
Do what I did. Break up your routine if you're living at home. If you got a car and no responsibilities, maybe go drive to a nearby city for a day or so.
You can't just force motivation, either. But you can make small changes in your life to let you look at things differently.

              >I agree, but it would be in exchange for freedom, my relationship possibly being repaired and no longer falling apart, and (hopefully) an increase in self-motivation to put myself in a position to earn a better income
But in 15 years it will be like you worked for one fifth the pay all that time, or to put it another way, by not moving out you get paid 5 times as much, so ultimately you can retire 5 times as fast.

Yeah, IT jobs are pretty easygoing most of the time. But you also run the risk of doing TOO well and the company thinks you are useless because you're not constantly working. That's what happened at my previous IT job, they saw less and less tickets coming in and decided to lay me off because there just wasn't enough work to justify the number of technicians they had there.

Any place that is desperate will take you regardless of experience. If you're feeling extra bold you can lie about it, but I wouldn't recommend it. You should pay no heed to those requirements. As long as you meet the bare minimum qualifications to learn the job properly, you'll get hired eventually.

No problem if you find a job doing something you enjoy.

I just spent a couple hours figuring out how to do this animation in a simple form for a thing I'm working on. It's for a machine track that moves with this cord holding thing that curls and then straightens out like a conveyor belt. Multiple of them in different sizes so I was trying to figure out an easily repeatable solution that applied to all the situations.
Probably could have saved some time looking up a solution, but I enjoyed testing things till I got a working setup. Basically just had to nest all the pieces into each other in a line, then only had to rotate each one 30 degrees (or however many pieces make up the curve divided by 360) up and down in a staggered setup. Even something simple like this can bring me a bit of joy getting it down.

      >No problem if you find a job doing something you enjoy.
I'm mentally handicapped and doing even fairly simple tasks is a struggle for me. Considering that finding enjoyment in an activity generally requires a measure of balance between competence and challenge I don't think a job I could enjoy even exists. I get stressed out and anxious doing just about anything.

It's nice if you can stand the snow and cold fren

          Winter War
          Result
          Moscow Peace Treaty
It marked the end of the 105-day Winter War, upon which Finland ceded border areas to the Soviet Union.

          Continuation War
          Result Soviet victory
The conditions for peace were similar to what had been agreed in the Moscow Peace Treaty of 1940: Finland was obliged to cede parts of Karelia and Salla, as well as certain islands in the Gulf of Finland. The new armistice also handed all of Petsamo to the Soviet Union

Doesn't really bother me. My parents are old as frick, they like having me around to help out with stuff and I like being able to do things with them while they're still alive. I'm working and putting 90% of the money away into savings and technically I already own the house so once they're no longer around I have the same end result as everyone else.

Not just my friends, but everyone I went to school with who I continue to see still lives with their parents and is at best only making one payraise above minimum wage in a dead-end retail or frycook job. Of the ones I no longer "continue to see", several killed themselves at the seawall or train tracks. The local area is extremely deprived, and if you didn't make the grades to skip town into advanced education- when the local school went into special administration for being one of the worst in the country- then there's not much you can do.

2019, The actual process of building is AIDS compared to when my parents did it in 1995, the banks don't trust you at all even though you have to show them a bunch of shit and it's a big investment up front. Most of the process was like this. Do one part of the process, pay your contractor, let the bank inspect the progress, then they pay you out of the loan. It ended up being cheaper than buying a finished home when everything was all said and done because the majority of the loan was the house itself but I had free reign to pick the contractors for the foundation/electric/excavation/etc so I got the best for the price for that. When I picked the location I started with an hour radius from my job and then found the towns with the best internet and no HOAs and just looked from there. My useless realtor was confused by this because she was a boomer-lite who was all "Ohhh this one has a good backyard for kids and is close to town!!!!" and I kept telling her frick that, I want good internet, little to no neighbors, and no HOA or land restrictions

I knew which general providers were in the are prior, my old townhouse was like 20 mins from my house right now. You can just google "isp in my my area" and use the top results if you have a general address in mind. Unfortunately a lot of it will come down to how scummy the ISP is feeling that day, you'll have to call them and see. A majority of the time they can't legally "commit" to saying yes or no even if every house next to you is on that particular ISP. I had to travel around town and knock on peoples doors and ask them.

It's more important when you live outside of the town center because back woods streets get dicey on ISP availability. You would know this if you lived in the boonies

The attitude is a holdover from post-war economics.
Service workers were generally high school kids and literal morons who didn't have their shit together. You'd have to be condescending, curt, and frequently ask to see the manager (often the only adult in the building) just to get basic shit done. You don't want to have customers telling you how to do your job? Then you better fricking figure out how to do it real quick, and if you did then chances are you were ready for a big boy job.
                >the issue now
Massive conglomerates bought up nearly everything. The head office is often thousands of miles away, the manager is just some douche that's been there long enough while not making waves, and even the decent people working there don't give a frick because they'll just be expected to carry exponentially more responsibility for zero rewards.
                >how come your store doesn't have X?
"i don't know, have no way of knowing, and am not able to connect you with someone who does know"
                >i don't like your attitude, i want to speak with your manager
"i'm mr. manager and what seems to be the problem?"
                >your employee is giving me attitude, i just want to know about X
"i don't know, have no way of knowing, and am not able to connect you with someone who does know"
                >finally some answers
then the low level employee gets written up for not speaking with customers/shoppers/guests/members in an appropriate manner
You think some middle age professional that can't work anywhere but the MegaCorp because it bought out everything in a 1,000 mile radius is going to give one ounce of fricks?
People still have the idea that service workers are "kids" and not a shit ton of people that just straight up gave up because they have no agency or options. Yeah, poorgays gonna poorgay, but giving the poorgays even less has proven again and again to be a BAD plan.

It's good you recognize that now and don't cause burnout.
A lot of people just stay with one job and work on side hustles. Creative or lucrative or whatever. That seems like the only way out since boomers are quite literally fricking over people for profit.

When you extrapolate out that 50% lost income, when you take into account that you could have invested that, you're actually looking at way more than 50% less wealth 15 years from now, more like 80% or more less wealth.

normalgays have no control over their emotions bro this is why they're obsessed with being normal and receiving social validation. If they stop that the nihilism is crushing, they start turning psychotic, entering a nightmarish existence. When you attack anything they consider "theirs" (like wageslaving, marriage, simping, donating to Black person charities, etc.) they take it personally, but instead of thinking "oh well, this guy has a different opinion no biggie I don't care" they start seething internally and then they attack you.

I've brushed up on my technical skills, helped out several of my friends with their PC issues, helped two people build their computers, finished a ton of videogames and overall had great fun. I've also never been officially employed in my entire life, can speak three languages freely, self taught of course and on top of that have a professional education that I acquired just because. All that without going in debt and living off my neet money. Browbeaten apes that cannot do anything for themselves without a supervisor standing behind their back yelling at them to do shit, or cannot work towards a goal without someone giving them good boy points for it and a pat on the back shouldn't assume that everyone else is like them.

          >housing and land
Where? There's a literal fricking housing shortage and companies keep buying new houses just to turn them into air b&b's

That's the point. You will never have things that matter and wagecucking is immense cope that mentally deficient use to compensate for it. Then you have even lower scum telling you that working hard is good and that you're totally gonna make it if you keep your head down and work hard, then twenty years later you're stuck in a failing marriage with a wife that doesn't want you and kids whose life you are never going to be a part of.

These are extremely meager accomplishments. I've done all of this and more despite having a job and being a student.

I speak two languages fluently. Being able to afford a life of luxury and learn new skills is something most high-functioning people are capable of. NEETs aren't somehow cheating the system and better because of it-- they're just losers coping with their miserable lives.

No you haven't. You push buttons and you live a life of constant drudgery and stress, hence why you're arguing with NEETs on Ganker

                >helping people with fixing computers is something only the unemployed have enough time to do
                >playing a ton of vidya is something only the unemployed have time to do
                >brushing up on "technical skills" is something only the unemployed have time to do
                >learning a language in your spare time is something only the unemployed have time to do
                >shitposting on Ganker is something only the unemployed have time to do

                >SURELY you have accomplished something of even greater substance than I have
You haven't accomplished anything. The vast majority of people never 'accomplish' anything noteworthy in their entire lives. You're just coping.

So what's the difference between me and a NEET? I do the same shit as them, maybe even more, and yet have still managed to integrate functionally into society and enjoy the benefits of not being a complete wretch. If we're lowering our standards to NEET standards then I have, indeed, accomplished something.

                >Got anything to show for all of your time being a worthless subhuman, NEETbro?
Well for one, after posting in this thread, I get to go to sleep whenever I want, and wake up whenever I want, while you will be stuck at work, kek. You're working to retire while I already am functionally retired, isn't that why you work? So you can hope to retire?

When you retire you'll be too old to do the things you want to do now. I go to the gym, I read, I go hiking, I do what I want, and have the body I want too. Shouldn't you be going to sleep soon since you have to get up for work tomorrow?

Anyone can go to sleep anytime they want and wake up anytime they want. Throwing your responsibilities down the drain because you would rather wake up at 6 PM rather than 8 AM isn't something impressive. And most people who retire early end up dying because they have no idea what to do with themselves. Working is good for a person because it gives their life purpose. I don't give a single frick about retiring because I'm currently doing the same things I'd be doing when retired, only I can also go to work, do a decent job, and socialize. Having 0 structure isn't healthy and will likely lead you to an early death.

It is a preferable choice to making some israelite richer off of your suffering. You cannot buy anything off of money that you earn by wagecucking, in fact once you begin to wagecuck, the gap between your goals and you only becomes greater the more time you spend doing it, unless your goals are funkopops and not important things like housing and land. You're a useful idiot that is perpetuating a game whose only winning move is not to play it. Unless you are already born into wealth, you will never own land or a house, disregarding something attainable by insane luck, like winning a lawsuit or a fricking lottery and managing make more than three million after tax. And if you're going to live like a cuck, renting someone else' apartment, you might as well have it paid for by the government.

wanna game, bring a laptop and play all you want
wanna read or learn, bring a laptop

the best part is you will not have to deal with anyone who gives a shit about what you do.

i plan on retiring with this job due to how much money im making and saving

I do security work, except I'm on half/half shifts. Night shifts are exactly as you say, but day shifts are a bit shit since I have nothing to do but people get pissy if I look at my phone anyway, and we don't have an actual security room I can hide in. Mostly solved the problem by just taking an hour off to hide round the back of the building where nobody ever goes on each patrol I do. I sit in a camera blind spot, read a book, and watch the wild rabbits and birds.

Security jobs are true calling of the NEETs. Really, the entire reason I'm employed is because it's cheaper to have me stay on payroll than it would be to pay the extra insurance premiums if I wasn't. I contribute NOTHING, and I'm okay with that.

Because the folks at the top of the pyramid know that the system will collapse if technological advancement actually reduced the amount of work people needed to do like it naturally would.
It'll happen eventually anyway. Financial incentive for all the middle-layer players exists, so it's inevitable. Warehouse workers, truck drivers, mail sorters, delivery people, all gone in the next 30 years.
Eventually all human endeavor will be rendered obsolete and the lower/middle class will be left to die off while the upper class embraces automatocracy.

I think you're right. There are some larpers ITT but most normalgays can't handle being alone and not having something to do, i.e. not being forced to do something by a boss. Normalgays can't handle freedom, they go insane, psychotic, violent, murderous, and the frick everything up. So they have to toil and suffer for some kind of fake goal.

I am an adaptable person. I'm fine with almost any hardship as long as you can make me believe that there will be an end to it at some point.
If I didn't have my inheritance coming at some unknown point down the line (I don't want my gran to die obviously I love my family) and was looking at another 30-35 years of wageslaving, even though my job is incredibly easy, I'd probably just off myself right now.

so I can neet for 10 when my body is half dead and my organs are failing, joints are creaky, bones are brittle and my willy isn't even working anymore*

Wageslaves think they'll have the body and mind of a 15 year old at 70 LMAO. It's especially absurd when you realize these homosexuals will accelerate the process of aging by working themselves to death. So many people retire and die 1-2 years into it.

Social conditioning. It's a pyramid scheme.
I inherited half a house, share my bills with my brother, and live like a pauper just for the hope of being able to retire by the time I'm 40, so I can have maybe 15 good years of doing nothing productive before my body starts to fall apart and enjoying my hobbies becomes more difficult.
Frankly any day which I'm waking up on somebody else's clock is already ruined. Drives me mad that people are like 'yeah alright this is normal and fine' and aren't doing everything in their power to escape this bullshit as quickly as they can.

If you are a travel tech you can make a lot, but that will require you to become IV certified. If you can land a job at a hospital you'll likely make at least $20 an hour. In the retail setting I'm not so sure, but there are a ton of retail jobs available.

Just have to get the certification.

Well that would be a downgrade for me, but I'll look into it if nothing else.

You have to move into a place with roommates, which defeats the purpose. Everyone I know that does this says I'm smart for staying at home whenever it comes up. Not only do you not get to stay at your more comfier home, or that you have to be in a small apartment with people you don't even know, but you have to pay for the privilege.
