Have you become worse at vidya as you've gotten older?

Have you become worse at vidya as you've gotten older? I personally feel slower and I'm soon gonna be above 150ms for good, I can just barely barely average below it if I focus

Wait till you get to 35 and your 150ms goes to 290 like mine did. Also you will be too tired to play video games.

reaction time degrades only with age if you don't use it.
this is proven and there are multiple studies on it.

Do you think you will just keep your stats through out your life? If you do not use it, you lose it.

Same with cognitive and physical abilities. But it is easier to just place it on your age and then conclude there is nothing to do about it. I sincerely hate people like you. Mostly because I hear those excuses from fat, unfit morons, who think their knee must hurt because of their age and not because of evading gravity for a century.

You were just banking off your reflexes and youth, anon. You never developed any techniques so of course you feel yourself slipping.

I'm 40 & still destroying folks in FPS and 2D fighters as they were always my best games. I never cultivated racing games. My buddy probably has thousands of hours on GT and other racers.

This test is dogshit if you have 60hz monitor and mouse with input lag lol. This makes massive difference in that gay test. Im 27 and I went from 220-230 on my shit PC with old ass monitor to 160 from doing this on my friends PC with 144hz refresh rate. I imagine it would be even better with 240hz monitor.

doubt i was anywhere below that at any point in my life. then again, it's not like reaction time is an important thing in games unless you're going high tier esports competitive

No, This test is moronic and unrealistic

      >smartphone
that's what you're doing wrong. i'm getting 280ms on phone, i imagine smartphones don't handle delivering your touch signal into measurement thingy fast enough, probably browsers are not as well-behaved towards fast input, maybe browser waits 100ms to see if you're swiping or touching before letting the signal through

I used the human benchmark site and got 180 avg after 5 clicks and thought was a bit shit then remember it's a fricking browser.

    https://github.com/NotThat/Benchmark-DirectX9/releases

Ran Benchmark.DX9.Human.exe and did 5 tries and got those

    last click: 142.1 ms
    min click: 142.1 ms
    max click: 163.9 ms
    average click: 151.3 ms
    successful clicks: 5
    early clicks: 1

I'm sure you could get even better results with the best hardware on the planet

Yeah, seems right. I don't play fps games or multiplayers for a reason.

Only time I can remember where fast reaction time helped out in a fps mp games is trying to shoot people jumping double doors in dust2.
I personally think as long as you're not a geriatric grandma with literally 500ms reaction times then every mp games is fair game. Hell even some pro CS GO players did those reaction times a few years ago and some of the best one were sitting at 220ms~
It might only matter in fighting games where every reactions to attacks might matter, but then I've also heard that it's more about mind games and countering attacks anyway and no one realistically reacts to 10frames startup animation.

I mean that's fine too. There's only so much things you can get interested in at any point in time. In the end what matters is enjoyments you get out of games.

even in fighting games the fastest things you are expected to react to are around 280ms (17 frames), which is considered extremely difficult to react to, usually its closer to 400ms (24 frames)
the challenge is not raw reacting, its expecting your opponent to do it and being ready for it, yes its hard if there is like 3 things you need to look for and pick the right one, but thats extremely rare and no modern game does that, usually its this 1 option that people SOMETIMES do you and need to always ready for it, if you aren't expecting it, you can't react, if you are, you do and its easy
jump in's are even slower but people still get caught not anti airing all. the. fricking. time.

That website is not an accurate representation of reaction speed, the same way IQ tests do not accurately gauge intelligence. If a test can be gamed its value is dramatically reduced.
