You HUNTED it, not found it randomly. You basically cheated. It's not an authentic experience.
The game is aimed for kids, do you think they really care for grinding a shiny? No, because that's not how the game is meant to be played.

Hunting is not cheating as long as it's pre generation when they dropped the rarity rate and coded in game ways to improve odds
I wouldn't mind this being a thing now if they made it end game or if Pokemon was like a real RPG, a rare drop, but not how they do it these days.

Only Gen 3 lacked a way to increase the odds.

It wasn't introduced until Gen 2 and the way breeding worked inherently increased the odds when using a Shiny to breed, then Gen 4 introduced the Masuda method.

I was a moronic kid and got convinced that in order to find Celebi in FRLF you had to get all the Unowns, during that grind I found a shiny Unown A. I felt a weird mix of excitement and disappointment, after that a friend of mine gave me a shiny Lombre he found and that was my second shiny.
Then I found out that hacking shinies into the game was extremely easy with the right tools, so I started finding them worthless, specially since most shinies are kinda ugly anyway.

Years ago with SM, ran into my first random shiny and I had played every Pokémon game up to that point. It was an Azurill, probably would've popped for that moment but I was in a laundromat with a bunch of people and waiting for my clothes to dry when it happened.
Just threw a quick ball at it, and that was that. Shame I don't play Pokémon anymore, but those new games look like complete garbage.

Yes, they are not that uncommon. The last one I caught was a shiny glimmet. I farmed for it, because Glimmora is my favorite pokemon from the new gen that I don’t also want to frick.

Also I have not played the SV DLC, did it add some meaningful postgame (raids suck) or is it just more story stuff.

      Anonymous

Mostly more story stuff, though it did add a gacha machine for apriballs so it's nice if you have ball autism, and it also brought back a lot of pokémon, including every previous starters which you can eventually encounter in the wild, so if you ever wanted a shiny starter, it's your best bet. Also the second half's "region" is heavily Unova-inspired in looks and music, so if you're nostalgic for Gen 5, it's pretty good. It also mostly revolves around double battles if you're into that, and you eventually unlock the ability to rematch every gym leader, every teacher and every E4 members with stronger teams than they used to have. If you're willing to ask /vp/ to grind multiplayer challenges, you can also spawn in every box art legendaries and a few others unto the main map in (mostly) thematic spots, I actually found goofing around grinding mission points with anons then roaming around hunting legendaries to be the best part of the DLC.

It's not that I don't encounter shinies, it's that all of my shiny encounters are fricking cursed. The most recent one was encountering a shiny ghost in the Pokemon Tower in Red++ before I had the Silph Scope. Red++ has an icon that indicates if the Pokemon is shiny or not. But because Red++ has a higher shiny encounter rate, this isn't nearly the worst one.

Right at the start of the encounter, the game rolls an algorithm and if you land on the lucky spot between the thousands of spots, you get a shiny.

They made shiny Pokémon way too inaccessible, the odds are complete shit. I can't even be bothered to do it with the game sped up times 16. And it's just a color change with a lot of them not even looking that good for the effort put in. They most likely won't even have good enough stats for you to compete with either. Actually, for some godforsaken reason, even though pokémon spawn on the overworld in SwSh, they will not appear as shiny until you actually enter battle with them. Don't ask me why, the only reason I can think of is that GameFreak are incompetent morons.
