I figured this shit out years ago. Once I realized video games are largely upheld by consoomerist culture, I stopped playing shit games that I didn't gaf about and stuck to games I actually enjoyed.
Most people nowadays can't tell what they enjoy or not because they're scared shitless of not conforming to normie opinions. They shy away from unfamiliar ideas because it puts their social standing at risk.
What games? Im curious
Games I told myself I liked because it was mainstream: anything by nintendo, halo, mortal kombat
Games I started playing more after being true to myself: classic doom with mods, dishonored 1+2
Who gives a frick about Tamashii
She's a washed up prostitute who posted her nudes on /vp/ to get attention and she changed her name because "it was racist"
Majority of shit that Ganker and ecelebs shill as le ebin good are unironically worse than purest of goyslop like Fortnite, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto etc.
i hate newhomosexuals so much
this board isn't a secret club anymore, the people here are of the same demographic as everywhere else - meaning 99% are fricking moronic just like you
>when I was playing this game I didnt notice an issue >later upon overthinking it I realized I must not have been enjoying it
people dont actually do this right?
Usually no, what happens is they fall into the "keep playing, it gets good x hours in/well you obviously liked it because you played it for x hours" trap
eventually some people figure out it's shallow addictive loops where they learn nothing and just look at pictures.
Usually no, what happens is they fall into the "keep playing, it gets good x hours in/well you obviously liked it because you played it for x hours" trap
sunk cost. in retrospect it's easy to see it's wasted time that does it.
Its autism, if I'm not having fun I stop playing the game. If I finish a game, then I had fun. Simple as. Only indecisive people always second guess themselves later.
>WHAT IF POKEMON WAS...LE NEVER GOOD!
is the dead parrot defence that nu-gen copers fall back to when they realise gen 9 was so bad even GF couldn't bring themselves to finish making the game and now the only want TPCi can keep the franchise in people's eyes is doing ragebait redesigns of the classics in hopes of kotaku making clickbait articles to advertise it for them
Literally no other franchise could get away with what pokemon has been doing for the past 20 years.
Barebones nothing stories that when they're in the game actually make them even worse somehow, forgettable nothing npcs I will legitimately struggle to remember anything about a gym leader that wasn't introduced first and given a character arc in the anime unless it's like whitney because she cried and wouldn't give you her badge at first. DOG SHIT GAMEPLAY, the gameplay fricking sucks, it's rock paper scissors. "oh it gets better in the competitive modes" homie that's an entirely different game, that's like telling me to play yugioh with strangers when I'm in my house playing forbidden memories on my playstation, what gameplay is GAMEFREAK providing to ME as a consumer within my own game?
dogshit, over and over, this guy has the generations rattata, this girl has the generations pidgey, this guy has the etc, etc until we get to a boss we walk over because he doesn't interact with type advantages at all like we're in kindergarten.
Pokemon was the absolute best game on the gameboy but you know what, standards were pretty fricking low back then, people could sit down playing Tetris until they needed a new set of batteries, standards have changed.
You are dumb
Pokemon is played by a new generations of kids every gen, you are not supposed to stick around
Its VERY MUCH a franchise that does not grow up with its audience, and this approach is perfectly valid
>perfectly valid
It's valid if you're a Gamefreak shareholder, sure
If you're someone who wants the franchise to meaningfully iterate on it's concepts to create a fuller game experience instead of making shitty unoptimized yearly releases for marketing purposes, then I don't think it's been a good attitude to take
>wants the franchise to meaningfully iterate
Sorry but you sound like a homosexual here, pokemon has no moral obligation to become transcendent, its a toy for children that its ok remaining as such for future generations
And really whats stopping anyone else from making their iterative pokemon clone?
Oh thats right they crash and burn every time while pokemon doesnt wow almost like pokemon decision to remain stagnant is smart
Yeah Id prefer if teh games were complex and for an autistic adult such as myself but they just arent, Im not defenting the games being for babies Im defending their right to be for babies
Kirby doesnt need a hardcore mode
Nothing major, it's just Pokecopers' insistence on pointing fingers everywhere else apart from the actual topic in question, hoping to confuse the scene enough that no one knows what's happening anymore and the subject gets dropped, being considered a "successful defence" of [thing they like]
no really what's this moron whining about and why would it go back to stadium when anything wrong with stadium can be attributed to red and blue first?
I think she's sperging out about how Pokemon needs you to consume other games/shit to get other Pokemon if you play alone
dunno what they're doing nowadays with that shit but it's not like anyone back in the day was playing stadium if they weren't already into red and blue in the first place
guessing the twittergay in OP wasn't alive at the time
I dunno. When I was young I asked my parents for a Gameboy and Pokémon and since they thought I would get mugged on the streets (a viewpoint I would agree with once I got older) I got a N64 and Stadium games.
There's some shit to do in them but they are companion games, just exist to complement the GB games experience. On their own they are pretty shit and barebones, they could have made a more complete N64 Pokémon adventure but they didn't. Sometimes I wish those two card game Pokémon games were for the N64 instead.
Because Stadium was designed to do two things, and neither was to be a "complete game" on its own.
1. Make Pokemon battles at official tournaments more visually interesting (this is why the original Japanese Stadium only had fully evolved Pokemon + Pikachu available)
2. Give the player something to do after they've already beaten the game (basically an expansion pack)
This is also why we haven't gotten a Stadium game (or even a stadium-like game, like Battle Revolution) in over a decade. The games themselves are 3D and battles no longer need added visual flair, and they have postgame content built into them already (albeit usually less than fricking Stadium would provide). The game is just glorified DLC. It isn't supposed to be its own complete thing, it's an extra for those who already have the "main game".
Stadium 1 was mainly made to act as a battle simulator for people to play PvP on. It was a thing in Japan. Also Stadium 1 in America was actually Stadium 2 in JP. Stadium 1 JP was even more barebones and only really had like 50 pokemon since they were the ones used in competitive play.

Speaking of Japanese Stadium 1, something people don't often mention about HOW bare bones it was, is that it doesn't even have Stadium 1/2 style Rentals. It has PBR style rentals, there are a bunch of preconfigured teams that you can choose from, but you can't actually make your own teams unless you have the Game Boy games in the Transfer Pak.
And the only NPC trainers are actually trainers taken directly from the '97 official Nintendo Cup tournaments.
no really what's this moron whining about and why would it go back to stadium when anything wrong with stadium can be attributed to red and blue first?
I can't take the Pokemon fanbase seriously once a non-zero amount of people who vehemently defended Dexit turned around and began worshipping GF for re-adding in the "bros" that "no one cared about in the first place" in a complete 180 to make sure they are always agreeing with the funny pokemon game people
I don't get why people treat Colosseum as the worst game ever when there are several main-line and spin-off games that are worse
Just feels like to me that it's the same people as the "Gen 2 bad hurrdurr" group
I never met anyone that played or owned Colosseum. I've been a pokemon fan since gen 1 and I've never played it because no one was talking about it so I assumed it just sucked.
Most of Colosseum's flaws also apply to these games but you don't see anyone going "GEN 4 IS THE WORST GEN EVER MADE!!!!"
I'm guessing it's DSkiddies getting angry for some reason
I've seen posts saying D/P are the worst games in the series for years, at least until the switch games came out
I kind of agree if you don't count shit like Trozei and Ranger
pokemon fanbase is too diverse to have a consensus over which generation is the best or the worst, the polls are often very close
the only thing the fanbase can agree on is that gen 8 and 9 are shit but everyone still buys new games
I do that do and can't fault people for doing that either - yeah the games are mediocre but are still fun, I'd rather play a mediocre Pokemon game than nothing at all or some even shittier knock-off
>Everyone does it >So I might as well do it, too
Cowardly consumerist mindset. I've had more fun with rom hacks and other monster collecting games in the last few years than I've had with even most of the official games. Didn't buy the slop on the Switch.
hipsterism is unironically good because it means "I Have to buy it because everyone has to" stops being so thrown out.
I missed a time before 'Get the bag" was a term. Being a sellout is valorized.
>ORAS
I've honestly come around on ORAS ever since I hacked my 3DS and just got them for free. Sure, lacking the Battle Frontier and other emerald content is ass, but aside from that + FRICKING EXP SHARE they're alright.
I generally like Colosseum, but its main issue is that the battles are so fricking slow with the long, unskippable animations. It's a pretty fun reinterpretation of Pokemon as more of a straightforward JRPG, and I could see myself replaying it at some point if a skip animation feature was modded in.
>you'll probably still give your childhood favorites a pass
I tried replaying Teen Titans and it was absolute garbage.
I don't know how I was able to finish that as a kid.

I had this happen in a soft way with Persona 5, where the first time through was a joy where I was fully swept away by the presentation and likeable characters, and the second time through I couldn't stop noticing how fricking long it took to get to gameplay sometimes, or how often characters will repeat thenselves or have conversations that go almost nowhere
I don't hate it now but it's flaws are obvious to me in a way that distracts from everything else that game does well
I dont think VNs or games with tons of VN elements are supposed to be replayed more than once every few years
That said P5 is a mess of re-re-rewritten shit that contradicts itself on top of a bad translation so yeah

I tried so hard to like Breath of the Wild when it came out
Yeah, but I don't know what else to do with my time.

Is his comment supposed to be bad? He's right.
Stadium is perfectly playable and beatable with rentals though.
Not to mention making competitive teams in gen 1 fricking sucked anyway.
Rentals is fun
what's this woman reffering to? trackmania stadium?
Skyrim. I even tried modding it because I wanted to justify the clock cycles I wasted decompressing the fitgirl repack.
zelda tears of the kingdom, what a waste of 70 euros
