Not really, no. No matter how hard NEETs cope, you're still a parasite at the end of the day. You're throwing away months, if not years, of life with nothing to show for it.

          Anonymous

What's it matter as long as you're enjoying life either way? Not everybody who works a job will have something substantial to show from it other than taking a paycheck home. If they like taking extra cash home with them in echange for 8 hours of their day 5 days a week, then genuinely good for them. I don't care for that though. Makes no difference to me.

            Anonymous

The argument is that by NEETing, those people who were fine taken home x amount now only get x - whatever it takes to keep you alive. If you take any other perspective than "I am the only thing that matters," NEETs make the world worse. If you care about anyone or anything else, including shit like pets, it's better to earn some kind of living, either to ease the burden on those caring for you or to ensure the safety of those relying on you.

I wasn't missing being a NEET when I had a decent job. A job that wasn't too mind-numbing and too long helped me even out my dopamine overloads. Now after my last job of having to slave away non-stop for 12 hours in the wage cage ye, sure, I'm back to unemployment, but that's because such jobs are a peak of the man-made industrial revolution hell and the quintessential "unabomber was right" shit.

I can resonate. Right now I'm working at national research institute as post-doc but once it ends, I won't have other options than to stay and work for minimal wage because that's how much universities and research institutes pays science staff and no company runs R&D anymore (as one openly out it, they "just buy all tech from China"). But when I think that otherwise I would have to learn how to code (from what I noticed - only coders are needed nowadays, somehow and store clerks - everyone else gets minimal wage) or go at corpo and do meaningless "work" for several hours instead of doing something interesting and useful (for everyone but in long run - society won't see nor understand this, not even aware of it), I rather prefer staying in such case.

I won't ever afford having own apartment anymore due to runaway prices and as living with mother, I won't be able to start family anyway so I guess that's fine. Society wants me to die so I will just die, on my own pace, alone, building plastic models, painting miniatures, doing photography, watching anime in free time and most importantly - not hating my job.

store clerks get minimal wage too
basically anyone who isn't some very important guy who can't be replaced is getting shit pay (and codecucks for some reason but that market is hopefully crashing soon)

Not in my country, supermarket clerk gets paid better than PhD in STEM field now.

I envy you furiously that you have an option for a job you don't hate. I have an interview tomorrow after which I'm 99% likely to score the position, with fantastic pay and decent benefits, especially compared to what I used to have, but it's the same exact mind-killing customer support hell that drove me to the brink last time, and there is no other option because all those comfy low wage positions literally do not exist in my region and I NEED to help out my parents with money because of how fricked we are financially. I don't know how I'm going to cope 3-4 months from now when I finally break down again, possibly for the last time. There is just no way out, only The Machine and the cog slot for me to fit into.

I'm sorry for you anon. I sometimes wonder what's worse - having low income and count every penny or having good income but hating every minute of your job.

I can just hope you will get better someday.

It's all a matter of perspective and priorities. Sometimes you wanna tough it out because a little incovenience pays off with a lot of pleasure. And sometimes you're like who sees no point in having a lot of money if I'll blow my brains out after 3 years of working this shit. Especially since despite being REALLY well paid compared to the people around me, it's still filthy poor third worlder money amounting to a 700 dollarydoos a month full time.

I'm kind of not surprised that someone with your attitude would be getting into sim setups. I don't mean this in a bad way, I don't know how normals spend all their time at work to then spend all their off time traveling to random places.

I do appreciate how Moza are giving Fanatec a good kick in the pants though. Each specific Fanatec wheel either sucks in some specific way that practically forces you to buy another, or is otherwise just super expensive so we need competition, even if I still regard them as a chink ripoff company.

Funny, right now I have 48 days of paid vacation. Granted, year just started but I still pretty much hoard it, ending with 12-15 days left each year. I still think I could do better, however.

Funny how I once "burned" 5 days instead of taking sick leave solely because you are being paid 80% for duration of sick leave. And my greed prevented me for abandoning this 20%.
