RRP hung at 98 for ages, breaking through that psychological barrier probably means they'll start creeping up again every price rise or two
plus 20% off "frick off c**t" is still "frick off cu"

Only true if you're lazy, and expect to rock up to a store with some books and a case full of models with no prior organisation and get a pick-up game; or if you're so thoroughly repulsive even other nerds can't stand the thought of putting up with you. What's your cope for dealing with all those other model ranges and rules publishers?

Remember when a box of Ogre bulls was $50(now $78)? Remember when a tactical squad of Space marines was $50(now $76)?
Fricking intercessor squads are $103 so basically the new tac marines but double the price

you kangaroonoggers should all pool your money and pay some dude from USA or UK to ship you a crate of like $50k of used ebay minis once a year and then resell them at a reasonable price

Used to much worse. I had an English aunt ship me army boxes and I sold the sprues on eBay.

I'm honestly not sure why some enterprising individual hasn't made that happen yet, the arbitrage is there and commercial shipping would cut down on the per-unit cost of postage. And a fly-by-night ebay operation has nothing to fear from being cut off from the GW distributor.

There are people that do it. It's also why whenever I go to Europe I always travel light and bring back a bunch of stuff

when I started in 3rd 40k/6th fantasy prices were $35 for core boxes, went to $40 for a long time
starter set was change from $100

not sure macragge was quite that cheap

I bought assault on black reach for $115. Tactical squads used to be $40. Guard squad used to be $40 for 20.

I was technically richer when I was teen and worked a minimum wage job. I have a professional job now and can buy less now.

When AoBR was 115 a tactical squad was closer to 60. IIRC the 3rd ed starter box was closer to 150. I remember it was more than a battle force and they were like 120-140

idk what GW expects to happen. because all i see is them unironically pricing out everyone short of whales. When only 1 guy is the only one that shows up to play on game nights, sooner or later even he gets bored of playing against only the store manager and stop coming, and soon after that GW will shut down another in person store.

For longest time the most important customer for GW wasn't the 40 year old nerd or the 12 year old kid. But the 30-40 year old mom, who has to be convinced this hobby isn't a complete waste of money. With these prices it's gonna be hard to convince them.

At least back in the blister days, it was pretty easy for the kid to get into the hobby. Every week with your pocket money buy one new blister and paint that while you wait until next week, when you buy an another blister. And for bithdays and christmases you get some vehicles and box sets. And this continued post blister day with the cheap easy to build sets.

And after those days they still had the start collecting sets which lowered the barrier. Now they have overpriced Combat Patrols and very overpriced figures, which is a very tough sell for the mother.

Surprised there doesn't seem to be much of a grey market shipping out of the UK, I know they cut out overseas orders but surely there's some creative spivs out there that are doing dodgy shit to ship from cheaper markets

It was at one point cheaper to fly to the UK, buy a titan in person, buy two plane tickets (one for the titan), and fly back to Australia than to buy it online from forgeworld and have it shipped to you.

I went into a store two days ago and thought of picking up a brush while I was there, kind of just support them and needed that size anyway. In typical GW fashion, there's no prices on anything until you get to the counter.

17 fricking dollars for a paint brush. It used to be 8. At that point just put shitty Chinese brushes in your store as that really soured me and if I were a newbie, I'd have fricked off quick. GW needs to learn what a loss lead item is.

It has enough for either, given you have a champion, special weapon, and heavy weapon, which costs zero points to do now.

What specialist squads? Chosen have their own fricked up weapons and devastators are different sizes now.
