Haven't really finished a Castlevania title and I got this from a friend some time ago, is this a good introduction to the genre?

    Eh, not really.
The game puts too much emphasis on the crafting and farming.
Just go play Symphony of the Night.

You mean like Dawn? The crafting system isn't exclusive to Bloodstained.

You said it put too much emphasis on a system that was already in an official game.
          Also:
          >buzzword buzzword
Bloodstained is good OP, play it and ignore this moron.

Yes, and? Do you have a good argument?
Nobody recommends Dawn of Sorrow as a "good introduction to the genre" either. Hell, when people recommend DoS, they also recommend multiple fanpatches to unfrick how bad that game was.

              >unfrick how bad that game was
Oh, you're one of those morons. cry about "muh touchscreen" somewhere else. I never even said Dawn was a good introduction, because it isn't, being a direct sequel to Aria.

                >in order for this moron to claim that "bloodstained is a good starting point" he now has to say that "the touchscreen mechanics of DoS are good, and luck being broken is acceptable"
                Jesus fricking christ.

                >Luck being broken

I 100%'d the bestiary, items, and souls back in high school when Portrait of Ruin was still new, but don't remember this. I could be foggy since it's been more than a decade. What was wrong with luck?

                >What was wrong with luck?
The luck stats don't work. Anything that modifies luck or uses luck just uses a "+0" instead.
So like if the game's starting luck is 5 and you increase it to 30 with items and level ups, the game still treats it as 5.
There's a fanpatch to fix it, but it's moronic that it was broken in the first place.

                >"the touchscreen mechanics of DoS are good, and luck being broken is acceptable"
Putting words in my mouth now? I never said any of those things are good, just that they don't make the game as a whole bad.
                >he's asking about a good castlevania introduction game
He asked for a good genre introduction, and I enjoyed it like Metroidvanias so I recommended it.
                >doesn't even have fun or interesting bossfights
disagree, but to each their own
                [...]
increasing it only increases the drop rates by a tiny amount

                >Putting words in my mouth now?
You entering this argument was lying about what I said. Your original post was entirely about making up an argument I never made.
You're not even worth the time.
                have a nice day quickly.

SOTN's difficulty is a joke after the halfway point, yet I still enjoy it and think it's a good game, we must both have shit taste then.

Dawn wasn't as grindy as bloodstained.
Either way that isn't even the point here. he's asking about a good castlevania introduction game.

Bloodstained is not a game you recommend to someone that can't finish a castlevania title, because it's a slog. doesn't even have fun or interesting bossfights.

Crafting? You moronic? I played the whole game by just buying potions and buying weapons

Yup, you can start with this without knowing anything about other titles.
Attack the walls, don't think the game is telling you about secrets in the walls.

I like it but it doesn't hit like the original igavanias. SoTN is solid but I think I might recommend Portrait of ruin first. You miss out on the gorgeous Kojima art but I think out of all of the games it has the most fun cast and the most 'game'.

If you can deal with the default keyboard controls (I found them a bit annoying but usable), sure, rewind is nice for soul grinding in Aria.

Steam page says it has "partial support", no idea what that means since I don't have one to use, people in the forums say xbox and playstation both work though.

I think it means you can't use it in some instances, for example the main menu or some settings, speaking only from experience.

If you play any game with a female protagonist you are a troony homosexual and should unironically have a nice day.
