You're gonna dismiss everything I say but oh well... To clarify, I do like some new things ORAS brought to the table. The DexNav and soaring are cool. Some new character designs like Winona and Stevens redesigns are cool.
My main issue with ORAS is the story alteration. It completely changed the story to revolve around mega evolution. This is unappealing to me since I never really liked megas as a gimmick and in and of themselves to begin with. This was reason enough for me to dislike the game since it doesn't feel like a pure Hoenn experience. At the rate they changed things, I'd rather they just make a new game like a Hoenn sequel, rather than the same game just with plot points changed to revolve around the magic macguffin of the generation, obviously same for Primals which are just megas by another name. I don't like the main character redesigns, especially May's since she loses the original sports theme it was going for. I don't like the 3DS game engine either since the game looks really dull in battles and is just not appealing to me either. Gen 7 improved on this slightly, but Gen 8 did a lot by adding some vibrancy back to the models.
Some of the streamlining measures taken in OR/AS left a bad taste in my mouth--making the majority of Granite Cave optional, giving you a free Mega Evolving Lati@s, even the changes to how contests worked that made them much easier to win.
HGSS expanded the Kanto postgame, re-implementing the missing areas from the originals and adding a variety of legendaries to find. ORAS added legendaries as well, but in a way that to me felt tacked on, you find them in featureless voids rather than integrated into the game world, which has pretty much continued on for every game that adds all the legendaries as postgame content.
My fundamental issue with ORAS is the wasted potential. They are just another, flashier Hoenn game instead of being a great Hoenn experience OR something new. It's the worst of both worlds to me.
The thing I never got about that is like... who even cares about the post-game in Pokemon outside of the Battle Tower?
Like, that already provides me with what I want - NPCs with somewhat competitive-level teams and movesets that require some actual strategy and thought to beat.
I feel like the Battle Frontier itself is just kinda that but with weird arbitrary gimmicks that just make battles less fun, and I'm not even saying this as a Game Freak shill or whatever it's just my genuine thoughts on this whole debacle.
Factory is the best thing about single-player Pokemon. It requires zero prior investment and caters to casuals who just want to try out different Pokemon and the autists going for long streaks and speedruns. It's ridiculous when they make all the Pokemon sets for the Tower equivalent and don't include a proper Factory to go with it.
I treated it far too harshly during release because it wasn't as packed with as much content as HGSS. I realize now that this is a really unfair set of standards to have in the first place. >Are you a little b***h?

I don't think Team Aqua is blackwashed, they just made them tan because it's stupid for a team of pirates to have milky white pale skin.
I dislike Shelly's ORAS design, but the skin color change makes total sense.
I actually replayed it recently and thought I had been way too harsh on it in the past.
But then I got to the delta episode. And then I got to the battle resort. And then I reread the interview the developers gave on launch
The developers of a game outright saying "we don't care about making something that only dedicated fans will enjoy, because we want to compete with phone games for younger players' attention" is not forgivable or justifiable in any context
It's overhated but still fricking dogshit. There was zero excuse to not include the battle frontier, that's all there is to it

It’s… decent. Emerald had a better story campaign (by Pokémon standards) given that you got to take on both Magma and Aqua in their respective bases, it made the story and environments more balanced. Plus, the RS/ORAS gym teams suck. Emerald had much better gym leader teams and some rematches. Only thing better about RS is Steven. Also, ORAS absolutely butchered the New Mauville power plant, Dewford Cave, the Abandoned Ship, Meteor Falls, and every other cave/dungeon.
Battle frontier was the best post game content of any pokemon game. You are a straight up homosexual if you disagree and you obviously don't like pokemon.
Only Tower and Factory deserve to be mainstays, everything else is of mixed quality. Nobody enjoys the Arena or Palace, and the Castle, Dome, and Arcade are just easier versions of the Tower with cooler presentation. Hall takes way too long. Pyramid and Pike are interesting roguelike facilities I'd like to see more of.
