The problem with JRPGs is that they're, on average, straight up worse than CRPGs. And it's further compounded by the fact that JRPG fans have, on average, awful taste. They keep recommending exceedingly mediocre, if not straight up bad games because they don't know any better. Go into any JRPG thread, and you'll see recommendations for such "gems" like Dragon Quest, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Trails in the Sky, Persona or Chrono Trigger
You're much less likely to see people recommending actually good games like >SMT series >SaGa series >Etrian Odyssey >Bravely Default >Black Souls >Crystal Project >Fear & Hunger >Xenogears (though admittedly its gameplay is ass)
Respectfully disagree. I think JRPG is a genre, Anachronox and Final Fantasy have enough similarities in how they play to consider them part of the same genre (multiple bros in a row)
>The problem with JRPGs is that they're, on average, straight up worse than CRPGs
False unless you've ONLY played the worst JRPGs or the best CRPGs.
The best JRPGs are better than the best CRPGs too.
Jrpgs are awful and I say this as someone who played all the classics when they came out and loved them. They were amazing 25+ years ago when that was by far the most impressive and grand scale type of game you could make with the technology vidya was at but now they are absolutely irredeamable. Clicking through menus as "gameplay" while your 4 gays stand in a row is absolutely the lowest form of videogames bar now they are hardly above visual novels.
>he doesn’t play JRPGs, not even the good ones
aesthetically they're all garbage
japan hasn't produced a good game in decades
>comically large weapons >all male characters are futa ladybois >clothing looks like michael jackson >dialog is engrish or anime tier story >same 6 character designs in all games
I played The Last Remnant which I was recommended to play by Ganker, it was just like a Final Fantasy game except with more grinding and a worse story.
Why would you play bad JRPGs?
They’re funny time wasters
>the good ones
Name them
anachronox and uhhhhhh

i've only played yakuza like a dragon
still havent finish it
are there any short ones and without grinding
>short ones and without grinding
Chrono Trigger.
Dragon Quest IV is also short, but I remember having to grind for a bit before the final boss.
Where's DQ III?
Haven't played it yet so I can't include it.
JRPG are by definition good.
The only good JRPG's were made like 20 years ago.
And yes I've already played them all.
im very fun
i've been told so very often
Imagine having sex with the druid
Imagine the SMELLLL
Did you notice how the druid has pit windows? imagine the SMELLING implications of this
A tiefling? Are you fucking kidding me? I'd rather fuck one of the battlefield corpses or the displacer beast.
same
name few good ones
JRPG "gameplay" is trash and always has been glorified animation menus.

Fear & Hunger is Finnish and Crystal Project is Canadian. They're not JRPGs.
They still play like JRPGs. JRPG is a genre, doesn't just mean "RPG made in Japan".
>JRPG is a genre
No it's not, stop posting this bullshit
So would you say Dragon's Dogma it's a JRPG? It's an RPG made in Japan, after all...
Dragon's Dogma is a action adventure game, action games aren't RPGs and never will be.
It's an action rpg, same with dark souls, but if that term didn't exist, yes they would be JRPGs.
>doesn't just mean "RPG made in Japan".
Yes it does.
>doesn't just mean "RPG made in Japan".
Just like how Kpop is just pop music from Korea, or Jrock is rock music from Japan. JRPG is just that
Yes

Do people find that attractive?
She was peak tomboy latina back in the day. A touch of mascara would do wonders in this case.
A touch of mascara isnt going to reverse 20 years of aging
