CS3 Rean was peak Rean. Shame CS4 undid everything good that CS3 tried to do mainly cutting down on the cast so people can actually get development and having characters with their own plotlines outside of Rean.

I finished CS2 last week. The entire sequence of Rean rescuing Alfin was pure kino.
I think I'm in the minority here but CS1 was my favorite. Schooltime shenanigans with Rean and Class VII were pretty fun and the veil of innocence before the civil war starts is kinda bittersweet.
CS1 is my second favorite Trails game (behind CS2). Similar reasons.

On paper, Rean is terrible. When you play the games, all the tropes somehow loop back on themselves and you end up liking the guy. You would think he's an edgelord with his katana and special demon power, but he's just a genuinely good natured guy who would drop everything to help you find your wallet. Rescuing my boy was the peak of CS4.
Altina is the best falcom girl by a large margin. Crazy how they give me a Chino for 4 games, take her away, and then expect me to care about Kuro.

Most of Ganker are full of morons that have no idea what self-insert actually means. To Ganker and the internet at large, calling someone a self-insert is just complaining about how a character is written without actually expressing what you think is wrong with a character, normally resorting to calling a character wish fullfillment even though 99% of fiction is some sort of wish fulfillment, with the remain 1% being subversive stories.
