Only digitally, with physical copies it's fine. Makes sure you get it on the release date and you can return it no questions asked or cancel it if you decide you don't want it.
Pre-ordering is just stepping yourself up for failure. You have no idea whether the game is actually going to be good or not, you’re just trusting the words of whatever corpo is making said product. Look towards the past and see how many gamers have been burned by a preorder game that did not meet their expectations.
There’s also very little benefit to preordering. Sometimes you get free shit but most of the time all you’re doing reserving a copy for yourself, which in this day and age of digital purchasing is completely useless.
pre-ordering is nothing more than an test that businessmen can use to gauge interest in their product
what's the difference between buying a game early or buying it late, you're ((buying)) it either way.
Good point, imagine buying games that don't have at least 2 years of bug fixes
I don't really see the issue or discussion in this thread
yes good goy
pay for product before getting product
>paying for something that isn't even out yet
you're just loaning a company your money
the last game i preordered was overwatch and that turned out alright
You just reminded me I need to preorder eiyuden chronicle
>be contrarian
>don't wishlist or pre-order games because devs keep telling me to do it
pre-ordering /pre-paying is the dumbest shit

>with physical copies it's fine
just buy it day one
at least you get the item immediately
i remember buying GTAV day one no problem
>Buy game physically
>Half of the game is digital only and will release next year
>pre-order game physically
>they say they gave your copy away
happens all the time
It only made sense when games had limited stock
i have a lot of money and buying games isnt really something i have to think about unlike you miserable poor lot
Haven't pre-ordered a game since WildStar. Let's just say I learned my lesson the hard way.
It's a vestigial act that had a meaning in the physical market, and that in the digital market exist just because of the useful morons.
>singleplayer games now offering early access for pre-orders
it's disgusting but plays into people's adhd and fomo
zoomers wouldn't understand why pre-ordering is a moronic practice
>giving a company your money for a product you can't get for several months to a year
if you do this you're part of the problem
There's a difference between that and placing a pre-order a week ahead of time
what's the fricking point
The last game I pre-ordered was Mario Wonder and it was good. This isn't a problem as long as you're not an idiot

pre-order items are always shit too
I'm 32 and I've done this once. It was for Total war Warhammer 3. I learned my lesson to never do it again.
