I got a 4090 at 1440p. If the game is even somewhat optimized i get 150-200 fps right now, but as games get more demanding over the coming years i might only get 100-150 fps in 2 years and i'll be having trouble getting 80+ in 4 years. But considering Nvidia having just announced they want to switch to annual architecture updates that $1500 purchase helped me skip 3-4 "generations". So in about 4 years my 13700k will be in need of an update and so will be the 4090 at which point i'm going to just rebuild.

I forced myself to finish Lies of P and Gotham Knights this week which is made by total morons but still didn't have the massive performance issues you see with a lot of AAA games. I feel like I play a pretty wide variety of games but skip out on a lot of ones that I've already played 4-5 times already with different names like COD, Ubisoft/Sony open world with crafting games, etc

2 fan card like I thought. You could control the fan curve yourself with software. MSI Afterburner will do the job and let you manage power use or you could use Fan Control if you don't want to adjust your cards power use.

If you're getting temps at 100 then that means you have a problem with the card's cooling, but you should check temps with hwinfo64 first to see if that's even a problem. If it is a problem then that means you need to check the the cooling fins for dust clogs, the thermal pads on your vram chips or the paste on the gpu chip. Replacing the gpu chip paste is easy, cpu paste will work fine, replacing ram pads requires finding pads with the right thickness so the contact is correct, cleaning out dust requires pressurized air, whether from a can or air blowing tool.
Gainward are moronic and hardcode their cards so that they always run at at least 30% of max, can't even influence that with any third party software.
