Though there are people here who tie their identity to games like deep souls and (I guess) Nintendo, I don't think anyone ties their identity to downloading copies of games, or to use the israeli lawyer word: "piracy".

Anyways, you might be psychologically projecting. Do you tie your identity to things and remind people of it all the time? Like a vegan or derp souls fan?

I would pirate but I don't buy games at full price except on release (If I want a physical copy) and pirating would be a net negative in opportunity cost (man hours) compared to the 5-10 dollars I would spend on a sale.
If it seems like I would have to spend more than 30 minutes getting an unpatched copy to run its not worth my time.

    >30+ years of piracy producing no real problem
It caused DLC overload, MTX, Games as a Service, gacha, casualization, appealing to SJWs and normies, and, worse of all, kernel-level DRM.

Why do pirates try to encourage others to pirate?
You realize that if everyone pirated, there'd be no games, right? You should be grateful if anything for the people who pay for games, and encourage everyone to pay for games. Are you stupid?

I don't really wanna pay hundreds of bucks just to play old vidya from my childhood I loved but morally I don't like pirating games that are available to buy right now.

I have a personal system that dicates what I'll allow myself to pirate and what I'll buy instead if it's easily available to purchase

piracy completely 100% validated the lootbox and season pass culture that you guys lament every single day, the same way the music industry was forced to pivot away from album sales because of services like napster

    it's a cold hard truth

I mean I wouldn't say that, a lot of games will be more than I'd want to pay. But I can wait for discounts or sales, and I feel more likely to finish the ones I already have.

Can't be bothered pirating and unpacking games. It's not just the risk I just find it easier and generally games are more stable when you buy them through a store. That said I primarily only buy through GOG sales nowdays. That and gamepass provide more than enough kino for me. Frick paying full price for a game

Do companies even go after pirates legally anymore? Last time I heard of anything like that was in the Limewire days. People trying to profit off piracy do not count.
