I got a 5 V recently for 650 Euroshekels, and it's pretty good.
It's got an annoying software issue where the UI framerate dips randomly in certain circumstances, but the headphone jack has been a gamechanger for my use case.
Battery life is insane too.
But the best part is how easy it is to use with one hand cause it's 9:21.

this makes it more difficult though. Stretching your thumb to reach the top and bottom of the screen is difficult with a longphone like that. My current 16:9 phone gives me enough hand workout for that. I mean, the thing that matters is the screen height.

LG were the fricking KINGS of smart phones, but they did get a little too experimental for their own good.

The phone companies can lie to you legally. They can make up what ever bullshit they wanna say to make a sale. They will lie and instruct reps to not tell you where a sim card slot on your phone is. They will tell you only their instore phones work on the network.
Shit, some stores will sell refurbished phones as new.
But the biggest kick in the nuts is they will sell you a phone at a carrier store and even if you pay full price up front, they will lock you on their service. Then if you ask for the unlock codes the reps are instructed to lie until they are dead to rights caught. Then they will send it to a department that never gets back to you, then you have to input the code yourself. Process takes A MONTH if you're lucky.
This is why I buy unlocked.
This is why I don't lease and refuse to pay an extra $200 on a full price added to my monthly bill over a 2 year time frame.
I am not going to have my hard drive loaded with shitty apps I can't delete for the privilege of the phone company not letting me use my phone on another carrier or use the FM chip in my phone without paying them to do so.

LG is the best electronics company. TVs, speakers, phones. If you want quality, they are your company.
Lately it's a bit tough to root for them. They are having minor design flaws that overshadow their quality.
Their bluetooth earbuds have a fatal flaw in that heat and sweat undo them and they eventually have synch issues, but I never had better sound quality.
Vseries was great, but a bit big.

I was a G series man. G8 was the last one and that phone was perfect.
LG was first with Quad HD displays too. G3 was my first premium smart phone and it was great. Best part was no one could figure out how to turn on my phone. They also invented the knock on tech that everyone has now.

I know its a small thing, but the carousel swipe effect was beautiful.
Seeing the little Aux jack animation on screen when I fully plugged in was nice.

That way your phone doesn't overheat as much and the battery doesn't get damaged, which would happen to other phones if you played games on them while they're plugged in.

My first smart phone lasted me a decade because when the battery started to deteriorate I'd just buy a new one off ebay for like ~10 dollars. These companies that preach to us about lowering carbon footprints would rather us buy an entire new $1000 phone than a $10 battery to keep the existing phone longer.

I really liked my old s8 with the back fingerprint scanner, but I got the s21 which has it on the screen and it's not nearly as much of a downgrade as I thought it would be. Once I got used to it I could barely tell the difference.
I personally hate side finger print scanners, but I found the ones built into the screen to be fine, even if they aren't ultrasonic.
Two of my three Xperias had the side fingerprint scanner. I think it's great. It's right near your power button, so your finger is already used to going to that area.
I opened up my Pocophone and completely disconnected the fingerprint scanner. Why would you need one?

You get no feedback with touch controls, they are unprecise. You can git gud with any input device but you won't get better than some other input devices no matter how much you practice. Cucksoles got aimbots for a reason.

Well, the thing is, I use my own autistic system to measure screen size, I pick a 16:9 white rectangle picture, and measure that, most of these 21:9 phones are around 5.2in, and to gaem and watch regular media, its kinda a pain in the ass because it feels like going back to 2013.
It's not taller, it's narrower, which makes my hands coom any time I use it.

On my current phone, I've got Into the Breach, and Shattered Pixel Dungeon, and some GBA and SNES games. Anything else is either too monetized and/or infested with ads to be fun, even with an adblocker, so no real point in "upgrading" from what I've got
At that point, I'd rather play on an emulator on PC, too many buttons on screen disrupt gameplay and make things uncomfortable, and I only play emulators on my phone when I'm out and about.

For example on my iphone SE 2020 selecting a word is WEIRDLY hard. Like damn dude, it feels like iOS is complete dogshit compared to Android, that's how impossible it seems sometimes to place the cursor into a specific word at all. It registers the tap yes but doesnt place the cursor, it wants to select the whole line. Feels like a bug but I can't believe that this is normal because sometimes it eventually works.

On my last phone I used the jack so much that it broke and after that I bought some really nice bluetooth headphones, and I just got some really nice bluetooth earbuds during holiday sales, so I don't really miss the headphone jack anymore.
The only reason the headphone jack is still around is because Bluetooth still harbors an incredibly unintuitive, clucky method of pairing. You have to stop what you're doing, navigate through any number of system settings/quick access panels to get to Bluetooth, decypher whatever the frick your Bluetooth device is actually called, and pair it. Then you can listen to your music.
Why can't I simply hold my Bluetooth headphones up to my phone to pair them instantly? It's literally moronic. They already cram phones with NFC, so it would be easy to implement. I think Apple products do something similar but I don't know if you can swap devices on the fly, and also >apple so lel.
With newer devices you really only have to do this once. Like my headphones connect to my phone very easily but trying to connect them bluetooth to my PC is garbage and not worth it.
I don't know about headphones but I have gotten some bluetooth speakers that can connect instantly with NFC before just like what you are describing but that was years ago and I think most don't have that feature anymore to save costs.

I'm not sure where the money goes. They clearly aren't spending it on the software development which is clearly the most expensive part. Using off the shelf components they aren't introducing their own CPU/GPUs or display technology. can't be that expensive. I think it's just a matter of selling the right volume of product, there fixed costs you have to deal with after all. Snoy phones are made in China anyway so there is no excuse there.

I've looked for every smartphone on the market before buying my xperia 1 iii 4 years ago, all of them had their own downsides.
If you buy a gamer phone, 100% of them are not water proof, meaning that if you have family (in which is my case) and need to keep it in places where it can get wet like on the side of the pool, gamer phones are a huge no.
If you buy LG or Samsung, they lack tons of features that a sony phone has, like a slot for headsets, wireless charging or lack RAM for gaming, and most of the time they release a new phone without the latest chipset.
So i might pay 100 or 200 more dollars on a smartphone but i at least have an excellent all-around phone to use, it was good performance, good battery, good camera, good storage, a lot of ram and decent updates.
The only downside of an xperia phone from my experience is... that they only have OS updates for 2 years and then sony drops it, but that's not a nuisance since any version of android after 9 leaves your cellphone with a good performance.

I have one of these, sony's fricking android additions fricking suck, the camera is awesome, and the three apps for it are cool, It's pretty much a sony alpha camera but for in your pocket, but the screen fricking flashes in chrome whenever there is a embed playing or a add plays a video on a website. Plus some games fricking hate the display, It took Sky Children of Light months to patch in support for the display this thing uses. Still tho I like mine.

I've actually been using these for a while, got a new one recently specifically because it has all of these features that I would expect to be standard. The first one I had nearly a decade ago and it was fricking indestructible. The only complaint I have about my new one is that the massive screen eats battery faster than my first Xperia, even though it's not an actual problem. These phones are basically the only Sony product I support, even when I tried to shop around there weren't really any options for the basic shit I wanted. I still can't believe how hard it is to find a decent phone with expandable storage now.

yes. Theres a lot of gacha versions of franchise rpgs but I refuse to play them because I would prefer just actual ports of the rpgs. Nikke isnt a port though and its the only gacha I play.
unfortunately the meme about ports is true though there will never be a good mobile exclusive because theres no reason not to dual release on steam.

last time i bought a sony phone, the internal battery was loose and charge me a ridiculous amount to "fix" it only to have its battery ran out in 15 minutes at 100%
