Currently cleaning up the last two events I still need to do (chronologically the first 2), and waiting till steam release. Carry some chars through the event grind battles for levels, and through the arena grind with the goal to max all chars levels because why not.
Getting ready to be disappointed by the steam port, because it'd be too good to be true if everything would work, you could use it outside of Japan and also pay without issues, and even the subs work. (The latter doesn't in Another Eden as far as I know, so there's a good reason to actually be doubting that to work)

Why? It's (luckily) more and more normal that gacha get PC versions. To be completely honest, HBR is not a good game for phones. Because not just heaven burns red when you play this, phone does as well. It's a battery burner.
I don't mind doing the short daily grind on a phone, but all else would definitely be better on PC. Maybe I'll even dungeon shuttle to level skills.
Steam's community isn't used to this so I feel like there's going to be lot of disappointment. It's not the port that makes me think of this, just steam. For other mobile games it's usually just a browser version.

I had that issue too on my actual phone, not during the chapter itself, but when rewinding to do things like Miya's bond event. Completely rebooting my phone is the only thing that fixed it for me. It's an officially reported issue at the very least.
Oh then I don't know, maybe WFS will drop a patch once the steam release drops next week.

I hate how gameplay-wise, it's 90% better to get dupes than new styles. I've whaled 200+ bucks for (1) Yuina only to never use her because my limit broken slash styles are just always better. That 10% boost to stats is ridiculous. Of course it's good that dupes are useful, but non LB styles being far inferior also doesn't feel great. I think maybe they should also give you one gold piece when rolling a dupe or at least let you exchange dupes for a gold piece without requiring you to full LB the character first. It's definitely not Magia Record levels of bad for non LB characters, but it still could be much better
It's definitely frustrating. I'd love to be able to try out different lineups, but I also know that having the options to do so would automatically imply having a lower ceiling for the content that I can do, which is really stupid.

Still my most disliked event. Especially the end was awful. Trying to be all serious all of a sudden ain't working, with a character of that type.
The only good part of this event were the small Hisame moments. Suppose there's one good thing though. Unlikely there's going to be more about that char.
I found the sudden serious turn to be the only salvaging point. Being able to both vent her frustrations like that and still carry on with what must be done, not least because she'd so quickly grown to trust her temporary companions, was a great sign that she's ready to take over as 31F squad leader from Yanagin and was a well executed moment that suited her character.

Got SS ninja with the tickets and grabbed the ch4 boosters/chips and decided to give orb boss a try and finally cleared lvl 1 after getting my ass destroyed by it when it came out. How hard is the jump from lvl 1 to 2 and 3?

I had SS Mari to change the field to ice, which makes the damage manageable. There's no time limit like score attack, so as long as you have healing and steady damage, you can stall it out if you can outpace its 10k self heal. I put the ice auto attack ring on my fire Ruka and just had her auto and full break.
I think the ch4 boosters/chips helped a lot too though, since I went from my Chie/Tama/Bungo getting broken by the single attack before I changed fields to tanking it no problem.
I'll have to try it out with the ch4 chips then. Unfortunately I don't have Mari, the only field changing unit I have is Tsukasa...
If you have Seira it's doable with burst. Otherwise it's either a field unit or insane gamba with disables... that I haven't tested so can't guarantee if that even works.
My tankiest units could take a punch okay, with the aoe attack being like 95% damage. Can't outheal that shit, so either it dies right after turn 4, or you can remove the field, or otherwise cancel the aoe.
Still think this shit isn't worth it unless you remove the field.
I can just about do level 3 without a field now, but I'm very lucky by f2p standards at 13800. If you have too many LB0s it's nearly mandatory.
I'm not particularly unlucky in terms of units, but level 2 just refuses to drop more +1 braces. I must have run it like 25 times and the only two I have are still from the first 3 runs.
Oh yeah, I should add that my orb boss tries were before the buff of the accessories you can make with the cat (I only ever made one and that rolled at 10/10 def, which made me laugh and ignore it) and before chapter 4 as well. My tankiest characters were LB 1 normal Karen, and lb 0 MC and Monaka but with higher level cap. All equipped for as much def as possible of course, including the acc slots being at least +2 of a def stat.
The aoe is nasty as frick. I think the additional def you can get now might slightly help, but I think it's still too much without at least 3 lb2 characters, or lb1 with lvl 110. No field removal, no Seira mind you.
Very true, the accessory buff is a big part of why I can do it like this now. Before that I definitely needed to ult with Higumin at 3 but it was manageable after that.
I've actually always been more worried about the single target attack. It still fully breaks my LB2 Higumin if I don't drop the field as she has a full DPS build, and while Tama and Kozue with their tank builds can take two to the face without any issues it's still a multihit attack at the end of the day. You can sacrifice squishies like an ulting Byakko or other LB0s on the AOE turn but you certainly don't have that luxury on ST turns.

Completing the event story rewards you with enough currency to get the event welfare outright.
It's piss easy. Buying up the entire store never has been a problem. There's should also be an item in the event store which you can use to permanently unlock past events.

She's just the best. Keeps you on your toes, too. She's the only one whose ultimate attack has a chance to fail, but it's really strong when it doesn't.

No. On average her ult is one of the absolutely weakest. It'd need to be at least twice is strong as it is right now, to actually be worthwhile given that this game is all about buff and debuff stacking. If she'd at least not lose the buffs if she fails, but nope.
Are you accounting the misses in the average? In a game where you can safely retry with no real punishment there's no reason to worry about that. 4.1, for instance, even gives you the dungeon rewards and lets you change your party before facing off against a miniboss, so the game is only becoming more and more retry-friendly with time.
There's no point in gambling a 50% if you simply do something else. You just waste your time. Doubly so without Seira, where you might need to gamble Shiki crits already.

Orb. Not a guarantee, but there's not enough content where that punishes you. The misses are still not worth accounting for because the odds of even an LB0 SS missing often enough to be a problem are infinitesimal. I would've conceded the argument if this was still prenerf chapter 3, but it's not. All current content apart from high SAs is on the easy side right now.

The hard mode is the only current content where this applies. Even phase 3 of 4.1 FlatHand counts as a different fight.
I'd not mind Bungo this much, if it weren't for how all the additional shit on attacks work. They all are calculated against the stat of the enemy. So even if an attack buffs you, it's calculated against the enemy stat.
I don't think you can go lower than the min. value, unlike with damage where you can, but it essentially means you have a 50% missing chance in mattering content. That's just an unnecessary waste of time, unless Bungo is your highest LB. A single LB on a character will already deal way more damage with their ult than Bungo would without that.
I'd like Bungo if they made the attack crit with a 50% chance instead of raising its damage by 0-50% compared to other ults. Without the failure chance (on failure simply no crit). But alas.

Sure she hits the hardest, but I prefer consistency and get it done in one try. You have fun with coinflips though.

You mean the "hard" mode? Slash attacks get a very high crit chance buff, so there's no reason why Wakki shouldn't lead the frontline. Miko has a damn cheap def down that you have no reason not to use, and you can either take Tama for the added survivability or Yanagin to make Wakki's crits a near-total guarantee and thus not have to bring Seira along. The rest are extras, though not having another slash LB1 DPS is unfortunate and so is you not having invested much into Higumin or Adel who would both otherwise be my extra picks.
On the way to the boss, just autoattack repeatedly during the trash fights, pop OD3 to give everyone +20 SP, occasionally use something like Wakki's AOE to get a lot of OD in one go if you're in any way concerned about damage taken when fighting 3 enemies. By the time you reach DeathSlug you can easily have 60-80 SP (possibly higher but it's overkill by that point) and another OD3 ready to use, which completely trivializes the fight.
Definitely try and get a few more accessories if you have time to do so though. It's not like the fight is hard, but if you go for the OD3 spam strat it takes a short while to actually get there, and if you don't then you might have a harder time.
Well I do have the resources to strengthen the others, but I've just been lazily using the same 31A combination for most of the game.
Good taste. Now's as good a time as any to try something different though, and if you bring Yanagin along in your first party you can even have your entire old 31A party as the backup if you run out of ult charges for your first party.

Blasters increase the Destruction Rate of enemies (that % that you see when you break their DP) mostly used on endgame content to be fair, but I do use Karerin quite a bit for dungeon cleaving.
After you break an enemy's shield, a Destruction Rate percentage will appear above its health. A higher DR means your attacks will do more damage. They're most useful for bosses with lots of health because dungeon mobs die too quickly for DR to matter, but they often come with strong attacks and AoE, too.

That would be so hard to play. No, I only did events during the story as I could (preferably thematically fitting stuff like Aoi in chapter 2 which I REALLY recommend doing). Anything else I only did if I had to because I want to use the style and it requires it, or a soul that's not in an event shop.
One of the biggest reasons I look forward to the steam port is so I can get through this list. On phone I tend to play daily gacha muted, so I'd need to get my headphones out for these events. It's why I lag behind on story in literally all gacha I play, and generally only do event stories and such that go on a little longer. (in HBR's case the main story is obviously fine, too)
On PC I have audio anyways, which will make this a lot nicer to chug away on this little by little. I could also use my lifestones, but I dunno how fun that'd be.

She'll do. Good dungeon aoe, and while her ult is 1 hit only, at least she is an attacker and not a breaker. Breaker 1 hit ults are the worst kind of game design.

In all honestly, defenders are probably the least needed. You want someone who can party heal (either SS Tama with S Tama for the skill, or Yanagi), as well as buffer and debuffer styles. Or just SS Seira, she's the most broken buffer unit, though it takes quite a bit of playtime before you'll appreciate her. Pretty useless for quite some time.
If you reroll, do yourself the favor and get a party heal and Seira. If you don't, come back to ask once more once you beat chapter 2 or so. Then you probably have a better idea yourself, have maybe some more units.
If you are VERY unlucky with pulls, it could be that you are semi screwed. Mind you, even with rerolling Seira and a party heal that can happen, as you still need some SS attackers (like Yuina you pulled there).

Do you mean you did your initial 10-roll, didn't get an SS and kept going? Rerolling is really simple. Ideally you'd want 3-4 SS units before you even start playing. You're gonna have a tough time if that's the case. Yuina is great though. She gets an extra turn after buffing her team mates and she hit's pretty hard.

Well in most cases a global version will be a brand new game separate from the jap version anyway. So i won't be surprise if the steam version gets region lock to japan. We can always make a new steam jap account to counter this easily so it's no big deal.

Teheperinko is some of the least problematic parts to adapt, it's a simple silly meme. They finally have practical rewards for score attack scores beyond 120k. I don't like this, but it was only a matter of time and so far it's just the skill guide and more medals.

Looks like they quickly learned their lesson from the disappointment that was hard mode DeathSlug. Hard mode RedCrimson has a 320 stat check and looks significantly more menacing.

I think the audio is clearer. At least the voices. Might however also just be that on phone voice playback had issues unrelated to quality. Weren't big issues, but especially when chars were screaming it wasn't pretty. I didn't hear any of that today via Steam.
The assets aren't split up into a separate apk and a messy directory with thousands of files anymore. Now they're all in a huge directory with thousands of files. As far as I can tell they're the same assets, at least the ones that I'm interested in, and finding out which changed should be even easier since I can just sort by modified date.
Was there a lore explanation about why they have different seraphs in their alts or is it still in "don't think about it" territory?

What's the fastest way to boost your team's powerlevel? I finished chapter 1 and did a couple boss fights and dungeon runs, they're sitting at 4.5k right now.
For now the only thing you can do is reach high levels through prism battles or afk farming with the arena. Once you're strong enough you can try clearing the memory dungeon and grab some good accessories.

So, steam version so far works. Issues I've seen:
-I didn't have much left, but my "paid" quartz are not accounted for. I only have free. This.. could be a serious issue, or has something to do with being outside of Japan and sales not being supported or whatever.
-Can't get the sub, as I kinda figured would be the case. Not like Steam wouldn't support subs, but Another Eden didn't support that either.

Seira's the best unit in the game, if you have the time it's worth rerolling to get her. The story's the best part of the game and even events are repeatable (using an item) so even if you take the game at your pace you'll be able to enjoy everything. The music stays that good throughout, it's probably one of the best things about it
Reroll until you have at least 3 or 4 SS units before you actually start playing. It might take a while, but rerolling itself is pretty fast. If one of them is this girl, then you unlocked easy mode.

The game looks surprisingly non-shit on pc, you probably can release on the consoles with this quality too.
Not just non-shit, but running at 144 FPS as well. The only issue I have is how dizzying the animations look in fullscreen, but otherwise this is a great port.
In a way, the beauty of phone games. They need to be efficient or else they don't run on phones, and a lot of phones offer high refresh rates and screen size, so the game kinda needs that as well.
Thus the pc version is toaster friendly (while my phone runs through battery and gets plenty warm) and runs nicely on good machines with 4k screens and high fps as well. Needs a quit to desktop function on the arena afk grind screen though. The game actually crashed when I force quit it there.
I will stick to this version. Outside of quick prism battles maybe. For what it's worth the new version of the app did the trick and the carryover works on my phone as well now. My 150 paid quartz are also still there.

This would make your biggest goal to get any SS Tama or SS Yanagi. It's not too bad of a goal, but as always, gacha can be harsh. Beyond me why there's still no good free healer in this game.
S Tama can work though, as long as the fight has free turns for her to heal.
Rerolling is highly recommended because it's extremely quick and there's a huge difficulty spike in chapter 3. Also, you get one F2P spark (200 rolls) just by playing through the story, but after that, quartz income is honestly pretty bad and saving up for another spark takes a long time, so if there's any character you really want you better reroll for them right at the start.
I want Ruka's swimsuit model but on my SS Ruka.
They can get away with it because it's Ruka, but if like Tama's, Megumi's or even Yuki's swimsuit was wasted on an S, I imagine myself seething like a motherfricker.
Introducing a different model for an S style is one of the weirdest decisions they made so far, I'm hoping we'll eventually get an update that allows us to freely switch between the different character models regardless of which style we use.
Yeah I want this too, a skin system. If they do a survey again I'm definitely gonna suggest it.
What they need to do is generally allow S and A style actives AND passives to be available. There are actually so many interesting passives A and S styles can get, but they are virtually useless as nobody uses those styles outside of very early on maybe, where you don't have the LB to get those anyways.
Some are even really awesome, like Monaka who gets 7% def (aka damage reduction) per charge. 10 charges are max -> 70% damage reduction. Of course, a lot are kinda lackluster, like small buffs to frontline attack of specific types/elements, but still.
I dunno how a person can be as unlucky as I am. The last 150 pulls no SS. The one guaranteed now is the absolutely worst thing it could be: Basic Yukki dupe.
I think the game wants me to quit really hard.
I went through all 200 pulls on the Aoi banner with just Yuki at 20 (not useful at LB0) and an offrate Ichiko at 190 (the most useless SS I have right now). Makes me wish I could trade away my unwanted SSes.
I've been using Seira less and less now that the orb is a thing tbh. It's nice to free up a slot for score attack.
120k score attack was a lot better than last week. Next week should be even easier, as the boss has no DP regen, or adds, so the +50% DP isn't going to be such a shitshow as last week.
Boss isn't that scary with damage. Gotta gamble not getting Shiki hit by single target, and no break is possible if something crits. My luck wasn't that great but Monaka settled with a big crit at the end.
Free with Seira as always. Downside is, doing this isn't actually giving you as much as you'd normally get. I think it was something like 1500 coins which is just the 5 S Tickets you'd normally get, plus other stuff. No more event dungeons also means much more grind.

Payments beyond the first one never worked for me on a JP account. All subsequent payments were blocked by Google themselves after speaking to my bank. It's a bit of a crapshoot as to whether this would affect you as well since some are and some aren't.
Also you can't activate the passes on Steam. Gotta stick to mobile.

Standard Yuki is okay, she's just more geared towards fights against multiple enemies (eg. dungeon fights and gem prism bosses) rather than against big singular bosses.
I'll also add on to this, that while the story isn't "easy", it's easier than the tryhard score attack levels. She especially established her reputation here where she is a lot worse due to low single target damage and breakers just being less useful than attackers or blasters.
So would it be better to run 1 breaker+1 blaster instead of 2 breakers? I've got Byakko and the ninja girl on my bench that I could try.
You usually need a blaster for tanky enemies like bosses anyway because they up the DR (that % you see on an enemy after breaking their DP) and thus allow your actual DPS to do significantly more damage in the HP phase. General rule of thumb when learning the game is to have 1 of each non-Defender type, know how they work, then figure out what the individual characters actually do and when a situation might call for a Defender or running 2 of the same type or other variations that you can think of.
Both Byakko and Adel are really good. Running one of them would definitely be good for you.

What's the rest of your lineup looking like right now? You probably won't end up in a position where the game actively challenges your lineup until 3-14, so you've got plenty of time to get used to it.
This is my roster. I wondered how far I could go without grinding and my answer was chapter 2 day 19 which filtered me. So now I'm doing the dungeons and prism battles.
The lack of a buffer is an issues, but there are some S buffers you can potentially bring along that should at least cover you until you get an SS. Everything else looks good, even without Seira. Sumomo being LB1 does a lot to offset her SP issues and should easily serve your DPS needs well, even against HP. Only thing to keep in mind regarding choosing between Adel and Byakko is that Sumomo and Ruka are both Slash (斬) types like Adel, and you might not want to put all your eggs in one basket because otherwise you might struggle with enemies that resist Slash.
Yeah, do some grinding for a bit, get your overall levels up through arenaing overnight, spend some arena/prism mats on the character parameters and skill levels and you should have no issues getting past that wall.
As far as buffers go I have LB2 Tsukasa and LB2 Shiki, although I'm not quite sure how useful S versions are.
If you can get one more LB for S Shiki she'll serve you really well. At LB3 she gets a passive that gives the back row 1 SP if she's in the front row at the start of the turn. Her partywide buff is also really good.

Not on 2-19, that's for sure. S-es are perfectly viable until 3-21 at the very least thanks to them also being able to get to level 90.

Not really. The 20% extra damage stacks on top of enhances and applies to noncrits too, and the backrow SP is no joke. She's significantly better than S Tsukasa and is plenty good enough until he gets an SS buffer.
I don't regret raising Shiki for score attack, but I have literally never used her outside of that. The only reason I can imagine that being useful is if there'd ever be a story boss that's just too harsh and needs to die relatively fast and I can't do it without crits. Grinding fights with her is too unreliable, as I prefer to set up routines that work all the time. Most prisms you grind you end up grinding a LOT after all.
Sleepy head e-girl event S is so much more comfy maxed out. Only has standard enhance, but at least she is tanky enough to not need babysitting.

Sure, when he MLB's her. He's not even gonna get her for a short while, much less max her out. To my knowledge the latest event requires you to complete chapter 2, and he needs to do that to get the store item needed to unlock the 31E event. That's a sizable detour when he's currently stuck at 2-19. If he then keeps her at LB0 she's strictly inferior to Shiki, and spending his likely limited number of lifestones on low level event prisms to MLB her is not only a huge waste, but also unlikely to get him all the way there as well. He's much better off using what he has until he runs into the first wall that actually stops him for several days, which is unlikely to happen at least until mid-late chapter 3.
I mean of course you use what you have first. Even then I'd recommend Tsukasa though. But that's largely because I used her and know she works reliably up until the end of chapter 3. Vanilla ch3 mind you.
What I mean is that this event S makes life a LOT easier if you are willing to invest. Any other S buffer relies on you utilizing enemy move patterns to switch them in when there's no attack or a single target attack you pray she won't get hit by. Not in ch2, of course, but in ch2 grind solves everything no matter what anyways. Heck ch3 is probably the same nowadays, as long as you use SS.
I did the same with Yunyun on my alt, also before the nerf. He'll be fine with either, but the usefulness of the full party Enhance is quite overrated compared to having another def down or the 20% dmg + chance to crit, especially when both also come packed with the backrow SP+1. You're obviously right in the second paragraph, event S-es are specifically there to help you fill holes in your collection, but he's not there yet and he's not gonna be there for a while. After that, sure, but for now he's gonna have to work with what he has.

I'll take any excuse I can get to get more mileage out of the best squad, but if we're diving into SS2 territory then surely Seika or Aoi would be more likely get a thunder attack up buff. I was thinking more about the S-es we haven't gotten yet (Ichigo, Seika and Byakko, with Seika already being quite SP-hungry and having 2 buffs).
Well 31A only got their fire enhance up from another team. 30B is the only lightning squad, and honestly they are one of the tightest (optimization wise) squads already.
I wish Megumi had fire defense down and Tama had fire enhance but oh well.

I understand the 3 main reroll targets for ez story mode are SS Tama, SS Seira, and S Tama, does the S Tama on the new banner count or does it need to be the other S Tama?
The new S Tama's heal (applies a rejuvenation buff on her and the other 2 in the frontline that heals at the start of the next 3 turns) is different from the original's (big heal to all 6). The old one is still king, but having both plus her SS is exceptional.
Old S is still the best but new S works great as a supplementary option to other skills. SS Tama plus both of her S styles is by far the best healer in the game, but you don’t specifically need to reroll for the whole package since you‘ll get all S styles within a couple months anyway (unless you don’t roll at all after your reroll). New S is easy to get right now because of the rateup, if you have that plus any other Tama style you’re already covered for healing.

Honestly, the whole reroll madness just has me rolling my eyes. When I got into the game I didn't even know rerolling was a thing and had very little to work with for a while. I still 180k'd the current SA just fine. I think I'd go insane if I tried to reroll my way to a perfect start.

This game actually got a pretty easy reroll mechanic with the skip intro option. In a lot of gachas people have to replay a bunch of(sometimes long) segments every fricking reroll.

I went in with my usual comp thinking it won't be that hard, my usual comp could get through the 2 DP phases but was about to die since the boss has like 2 million HP, in the end I barely cleared it with my 2nd team which contains the SS Tama I just rolled like 3 days ago.
This boss is almost as bad as the orb bosses.
I got screwed over my first try because I reached the boss with 0 energy. My first team was mostly slash but I got stuck in a fight with slash-resistant enemies. My second try I brought lots of blunt but then they refused to spawn. Fortunately I could reach the boss with 7 energy, and it wasn’t too hard with my second team.
This game mode takes too long for a measly reward, I think I spent 2 hours over both attempts.

Up to you really, especially if you're F2P as dupes are not gonna be as frequent. As for me, my Higumin LB1 has been super nice to have for easy dungeon cleaving.

Aoi: redirects all dmg (including aoe) to herself for 2-3 turns. useless for farming but can be a godsend for difficult bosses
Yanagi: difference between her and SS1 Tama is her ult can't restore broken DP gauges but provides an offensive buff instead. Aoi should be enough to prevent you from getting your DP gauges broken at all so no need for SS1 Tama, enjoy your extra damage
Chie: Aoi is just better at actually defending your team

-Previous score attack rewards are now in the event shop for a total of 3200 coins (I think score attack was 700 quartz until 120k, might be wrong)
-Doing 120k and the 61+10 3 times gave you all of that before, now you gain 1400 coins instead (-1800 coins)
-Even if you do additional score attack shit the math isn't adding up
-Dungeons removed implies around 15-20 less coins per life spent earned. This is much more steep early on. In exchange this event gives around a total of 150 extra coins for beating the event and doing a few event fights, compared to before.
It fricking sucks more than the very first event. I pity anyone joining later who needs to grind the coins without the score attack bonus. It'd take a fricking entire month of life spent. But even then, everyone loses out on this one. It's awful. Btw, pretty sure this event change is for people starting later, so they can still get stuff. What a joke this shit is though.
They JUST had the events reach the point where they are well enough design as of may/june. Now we are back where we need to wait several months before shit is okay again. So annoying. Whatever they touch/change gets worse.
The difference is kind of negligible if you just lazily auto the boss.
Not having to do dungeon is nice. It's just more content for players to slowly grind since nothing is really missable. They could hand out more life or straight out event coins for past events if it becomes an issue.

I don't know of any translation other than stats and some game mechanics. I'd consider some knowledge of Japanese essential, but I don't know how much those with an OCR setup and little to no knowledge have been enjoying the story.

I'm one of them. Enjoying it just fine. Yes, I'd benefit from actually knowing Japanese, but DeepL has carried me with no real problems thus far. The most I'm missing out on would be the finer aspects of some of the humor in the game, but I've never been fond of Maeda's style of comedy and I'm not as much of a fan of 31A as most people, so it's not a big loss to me.

I'm okay with that. His darker, more thoughtful pieces have always been what I prefer more, and the rest has never given me any reason to learn Japanese just for them. There are other translated works I have gone through that suit me significantly better, and there will never be any shortage of those.
There are some out there, but they are all either scattered or stuck playing catch-up. Suffice to say none of them have reached chapter 3 yet

That's talking about the auto transfer feature (basically auto syncing save data between two devices used at the same time). You need a transfer code issues after 7/15 if you want to enable auto sync.

Wow, seira+shiki is powerful. I slept on shiki since I already had seira and didn't want to use a fragile S, but the low cost charge and SP boost ability is almost as good as seira.
She's amazing for Prisms/events since three turns (start turn 1, turn 2) on the frontline is enough to give the entire backline 13 mana. This enables a lb 0 Seira + 2 attackers to nuke the boss on turn 3

There's a shortcut to the latest shop on the right in the home menu. The newest chips are blue and have 4 stars and the newest boosters are really expensive. I'm still debating on whether I should get some or just skip this iteration since I'm mostly doing fine and the next ones are probably gonna be more expensive.

Probably has more to do with your characters/equipment since 120k was easy before the release of chapter 4. Getting to the new boosters should also not be that hard considering f2p setups relying on event sr's could clear chapter 3, and that was before the nerfs to the bosses + tier 6 equipment. Besides, this score attack barely matters since all important goodies are in the event store instead. At best you get a skill upgrade and some medals that save you some life stones.
I guess I should have expected this when I went all in on these 6 from a new reroll and reached end of chapter 2. Oh well, still worked out

Few of those would be bad choices. Ruka already has the extra 20 levels from her free counterpart but would still gain some precious stats, Seika and Tsukasa would both greatly benefit from not being as starved of SP, and Kanata doesn't have the extra level luxury that Ruka benefits from. If it were by me, I'd pick any of those 4.

But if they copy the humans and their DNA, they should be able to copy pheromones and body-specific smells. Just not smells that are produced by microbes on our skin.
Megumi only went to the bath in 4.1 because she said she was getting too smelly, so I don't think so.
Finally finishing up the event story. Damn, if there's ever a time to bring White Spell back, this is it. Definitely a "different" kind of event story, but given how formulaic many of the previous ones were I'm happy with this.

I threw 40 rolls at SS2 Tsukasa's gacha and got both her and SS2 Tama. I like both characters and their alt designs a lot so I should be happy but it really drove home just how stupid the alt system still is, even with the option to generalize ults. Since ults from alts can't be generalized I'll have to transfer SS1 Tama's ult to SS2 Tama, but the former is LB1 while the latter is LB0, so now I have to decide between LB1 Tama with one ult or LB0 Tama with two. It also means that future dupes for SS1 Tama become way less attractive than for SS2.
And yeah, I know it's designed this way to give whales a reason to throw money at every new alt for LBs even if they already have the base styles at LB4 but this isn't fun.

Here, alts are different from the base styles in only three ways - design (not gameplay relevant), ults (can now be transferred from base styles to alts but not the other way around) and LB skills (theoretically, virtually every single SS style has the same LB1 skill so it's just a missed opportunity).
As a result, alts either make their base styles completely obsolete (if you have both at the same LB levels) because alts get to have two ults, or are completely useless (if the alt has a lower LB level) because you can't transfer the alt's ult to the base style.
Creating a weird situation where an LB0 alt is one of the worst things you could roll if you already have the base style at LB1+.

I can agree with him there considering the incredible strength of dupes. I agree that it's an awful system in just about any game it's in, but while the improvements in HBR are appreciated, they don't make up for its own (unique?) major issue in this regard.

HBR has a unique combination of issues that I haven't encountered in any other gacha so far:

Yeah, this is a big part of why I'm not gonna do any pulls for the swimsuit banner or for any alt banners for the foreseeable future. Attacker Sumomo would, under normal circumstances, be a nice upgrade for me, but my existing Sumomo is LB1 and I don't need an LB0 alt. I agree that they might have to rethink the generize functionality at some point, otherwise in a world where dupes are king I really don't see myself ever pulling on anything other than base rerun banners from here on out.

Yeah this puzzles me as well since a storyline with her as the main lead would basically write itself. Moody dome SoL > dome gets attacked > can't fight because no seraph > steps up with physic powers to save the day.
At the very least I’d expect her to be relevant again when the warfront moves to west Japan or when Jun is finally going to kill of some humans. All the clocktower foreshadowing needs to get a payoff at some point. She's the only dome PoV we have, so her safety is the first thing people will want to know when the large scale dome wipes begin.

Alts are just different seraph? I don't know why they need a plot connection. Higuchi randomly makes an alt seraph in her lab and the girls use it when it's suitable. You can even change seraph mid-dungeon, so maybe there's a mode toggle on the handbook.
I mean from a marketing standpoint. Many gachas try to give players an extra push to roll for alts via story or event appearances instead of just releasing them with no further comment like HBR does.

The problem with alts was they're completely pointless. They fixed that to some degree by letting you share their finishers, but then fumbled that by making it so that you have to do those frick terrible dungeons multiple times just to prep one move.
The other problem is how costumes are stuck to the specific version, they should make it like other games where once you get that costume you can use it on any version.

Yes, Aoi is great against bosses who deal too much damage to comfortably outheal. The extra SP from LB1 are a big deal for her so she can use her ult on turn 2 instead of 3 and every 3-4 turns after that instead of 5.
She’ll buy you the time you need to properly set up everyone else, but obviously you need a team that can deal enough damage to kill the boss by the time Aoi‘s 4th ult expires.
If you can outheal the damage, there’s zero reason to bring Aoi.
Aoi is pretty good for score attack too, especially those that have reduced DP healing grade bonuses.

The reason this one has S tickets is because they've just merged score attack and the monthly event into one this very month (hence why they both have the same boss). Previous events had dungeons you could run alongside the regular event prisms, which is no longer a thing, but as of right now there's no way to access past score attack events. Maybe they'll retroactively change that one day.
The Edelweiss is the only important thing to get. Events don't go away, you just need to use the Edelweiss in question to permanently re-unlock it in the archive after it's ended, and every event shop has one. So long as you have one, you can effectively unlock every single event one by one by repeating the process.
No rush, you can revisit the event in the future

Aim for SS Seira (pic) and you'll probably be fine. I think you can get up to 5 or 6 SS units if you reroll for a bit right now. Back at launch 4 were a lot. Focus on being able to do the story because it'll actually keep you on your toes in terms of difficulty and come back when you have problems with the chapter 3 boss. Don't worry about the event right now. You'll be able to permanently unlock every event later and you should probably do them in release order anyway. There's also no rush since there's no PvP.

What kind of RNGod i need to worship for this? I rerolled for hours and the highest are only 4 SS and it only happened three times...and after that somehow i always get 0 SS (other than tutorial gacha) for hours until i decided to say frick it and sleep. Not "fricked" at all. You'd obviously have an easier time with a proper SS damage dealer besides the free Ruka but you don't need a better account than that to clear the entire story so far.
Just reroll for Seira and a couple characters you like, you'll get enough SS styles quickly enough.

To be fair, that was not at all my experience when I rerolled on my alt. The absolute most I could get were Chie + 2 more after 6 hours of rerolling, and I think this was back when they first introduced the new player banners and rewards and stuff.

I think it's fairer to treat that video as a "how low can you go?" challenge, rather than proof that anyone could've reasonably done it back then. Just getting Ruka and Kozue to 99 took me a couple of weeks and all of my lifestones, and I was still taking 1000 damage per hit at that point. And good luck farming the reroll stones needed to minmax all that gear without being able to beat FlatHand in the first place.
Well I obviously wasn't recommended people to use such lineup for that fight. Just wanted to point out that it's possible if you really want to. Most people would likely have much better units to use anyway. Also there is also no need to rush either, there is no time limited content in this game so you could grind at your own pace.

Is way more than any sane player would or could handle. Also, assuming that you are starting out now and don't have infinite stamina like day 1 players, this would take a couple of weeks based on stam recovery alone.
That said, the game is by no means difficult. Seira isn't mandatory because you can't beat the game without her. She's mandatory if you don't want to have a god awful time clearing the game. At the end of the day you SHOULD reroll and rerolling is easy anyway.
The real question is whether or not them making the story so grind dependent early on was a good decision or not. That's a whole other can of worms that will take too long to address. It's ultimately a byproduct of the fundamental battle system not allowing for interesting or engaging endgame modes (and also the time it takes btwn chapters). I will say that they kinda got the right idea with the double team weekly boss thing, but

This isn't chapter 3 anymore. The ch3 boss nerf plus the relative ease of ch4.1 have by and large fixed this issue.
Remember not everyone has Seira. For people not having Seira and/or a party healer nothing really changed. It's shitty they still haven't solved this, but only give those half baked changes that kinda try to address it, but not really.
This game heavily requires 2 things. A solution to crits and a solution to LBs.
The crit one is hard (even adding more SS with this kind of ability wouldn't completely solve things), the LB one not so much. Simply make LB a distributed resource instead of hard wiring it to chars. So you can freely distribute it per team. Once people have more than 36 SS dupes, further dupes could be used to increase skill levels of chars. This would mean people can actually roll for new characters they like without the need to get multiple dupes or invest insanely slow accumulating resources. With this exp would need to get changed, so you can get exp up to 130 no matter what, just not necessarily use the higher level. But that's a small thing and would benefit reincarnation.
It's sad you simply use the SS with the most LB right now. It's counter-intuitive when it comes to new styles and new SS in general, as anything new will have likely a lower LB than something old. Why even roll, if you aren't a whale.
Let's wait and see. From my experience they generally know what's wrong, but take very very slow steps towards a solution. I haven't pulled a typical banner in months, because it's so pointless to do.

Never gonna happen. They want to pressure whales into rolling seven copies of a specific character in order to max them out. Clearly it’s working because the game makes boatloads of money. Changing this requirement to only requiring a single copy of a character plus six dupes of anyone that could be freely converted would absolutely affect their revenue because it removes that pressure.
The thing is that other gachas that also make tons of money show that whales will roll for dupes regardless of how significant their effects are.
FGO? Balanced around NP1 servants. Yet whales still roll their favorite SSRs to NP5 for bragging rights.
Genshin? Balanced around C0 characters. Yet whales still roll for C6 in order to make YouTube videos of how they beat abyss floors in 30 seconds instead of 3 minutes, which doesn’t give them any extra rewards.
It’s a balancing issue, and that’s what needs to be fixed. Dupes simply shouldn’t be as OP as they are right now.

Crit orb is already good enough thatSeira is already busted in late game. If anything needs to be fixed is Shiki and Yingxia S +1 rearguard SP.LB. Even if they got their SS version, people would still use their S version with lvl 130 unless their SS version's LB gives them better SP.

I feel like having 2 characters with the Crit Orb and someone like Koju to provide SP is overall better. Though I guess newfriends can still get a lot of mileage out of her.
How long do you think it would have taken you to get there without her? She should still be pretty useful until you have at least two characters with a completed crit orb skill.
I got her quite late, as I started with Megumin, Yuki and OG SS Tama.
I beat original difficulty FlatHand with no issues, it just took some time. Keep in mind I'm mostly talking about endgame stuff (SA and alternate layer).
Yanagin + 2 characters with critical orb is pretty good tbh.
I still use Seira for prism and story bosses. She's still far more reliable for getting crits, so for content that is hard but not TOO hard, I use her.
I did have to switch her out for the current score attack to fit in more damage. You really want those 1 hit ults in that case, as you'll notice the difference between a +60% crit rate and +86% crit rate. And you'll need to potentially restart more often as well.
Never owned her. If anything it's the likes of Shiki and Yanagi who have completely fallen off for me as the % chance given by the crit orb is good enough that I have no reason to care about boosting it and wasting a party slot when I can just reset the fight instead.
Did you run her in your party to get the crit orbs?
This Koju just came from a gem or whatever they are that usually gives an A unit. I know they can randomly get upgraded in the process, but I always thought it was only by one step.

they're special accessories that can only be equipped by the specific unit they're made for. typically you get them from prism memories but Ruka obviously doesn't have them so you buy them from the cat there. they're only worth getting if you have the Ruka they're used on, but if you do you shouldn't hesitate to pick it up.

Regarding 4.1 Megumi
On one hand I get why she would do it. I mean to be told that your entire existence is to fight a losing war where the commanders themselves have already given up is really discouraging. Worse yet you're not even a real human so who knows what they'll do with you if you survive to the end. They already said that the iphone could get cut off and you'll run out of seraph juice or something so I would assume the worst. On the other hand it really is a jerk move. I think the worst part is that her backstory and buildup is kinda bad. So she was putting on a brave front the entire time? Really? The only time I got that impression was during the start when she was shaking during the simulations. The other thing is that she's kinda greedy. Like do you really need to be the super cool savior messiah? I get that it's important to her, but maybe the whole psychic thing is just hard to relate to. I mean they could have given her a better reason to want to be special other than boo hoo I was just an average nobody my entire life. The part that gets me is that she decides to ditch just because she didn't know Flathand had a 3rd phase. Hell they could've had her lose her psychic powers or maybe even Seraph powers after the fight. Now THAT would make for a huge blow. As it stands this chapter/2 is just an assassination of her character because of massive imposter syndrome. I mean if they were going to make her an butthole the entire time, they could've gone the full stretch and had her question the value of Aoi and Kura's deaths. But instead she just blows everyone off the entire chapter. I'm hoping that she's actually leaving to get some answers from the psychic army. I mean they were preparing to defend the earth

a) She had a low self-esteem because she doesn't have other talents besides her psychic power. That's why she focused on her only talent and started as a psychic youtuber. She got a lot of praise from it and eventually was invited to be a member of a/the world-saving psychic group. At the time she thought she really has something, and yet the reality hits hard.
b) Her only pride and talent, the psychic power, can only accomplish things like lifting a small amount of water, nothing more. However every other person within the group has much more abilities. Her self-esteem reach another low point. She was not saved until the leader of the group publicly stated that she is the savior that no one foresees.
c) However the leader's words mean nothing when she learned that Megumi the savior was already dead and she is just a mere copy of her. She decides to believe in the leader's words again when Ruka told her that as a fortune teller, the leader probably already knew what will happen to the human Megumi, and the savior saga was actually for the narvy Megumi. Not only that she now has a clear image of what a savior is, as a concrete mission was tasked to her: stop FlatHand with her psychic power.
d) Yet in the end she (thinks that she) failed to stop FlatHand, failed to be a savior. Not only that, in trying to be the savior she put her whole team in danger as she lost her mobility as the result of failing and needs protection from others.
She never had a strong psychic power to begin with, and with all her effort she still "failed" to do the one thing that only she can do. In doing so she also puts those she cares about in danger. That's why she decided to quit

You may indeed be too jaded. In fact, you probably should be grateful to have had a relatively easy life and/or have a good support group around you if that's how little you related to her, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Failing to live up to people's expectations and setting overly high ones for yourself is one of the most common psychological fears one could think of. Fears don't have to be reasonable and this one is particularly nasty in the way it tends to bubble up until it explodes outward. It was also telegraphed just fine.
Yeah there's just no way I can relate to the dumbest kid in class being told to ace the finals then when they get the results back they cry over getting a 99 instead of 100. Also the telegraphed thing. I know how Maeda loves to pull a "but really!" moment on you, but there needs to be some crumbs along the way. At the very least they could have had the courtesy to flashback to a scene where her bluster was faltering instead of just the initial meeting to say that it was all her putting up a face.
The crumbs bit I can give you, but strictly because chapter 3 was badly flawed and the wait between 3 and 4.1 was way too long, so the 3-21 reveal ultimately doesn't feel as earth-shattering as it should've been (and as it was to Megumi, and of course her completely breaking in one go because of it is perfectly understandable).

Megumi's character stories are actually kinda depressing from her perspective when you think about them now. Like, back then it was just "silly Ruka is joking with her", but now you realize she was actually genuinely scared shitless Ruka will awaken her psychic powers and will be better than her like every psychic she met in her life. Then even without awakening anything Ruka started casually doing things Megumi considers more impressive than her psychic tricks which hits her much harder on the inside than what you initially think. Then she even stopped screaming at Ruka and started saying "It's not your fault it's all on me", so you know she blames herself for everything that happened in her life and is having Vietnam flashbacks over her initial self-esteem problems all the way.

I like them. They're a great addition. It wasn't too annoying on an emulator, but I imagine on an actual phone it might be. Seeing all the characters interacting and doing their things is one of the charms of this game.

As a new player, getting close to 90/90 on my lowest SSRs (the ones without enough S or A to push them higher), what should I prioritize next while I wait for my rank to go higher to let me go further in the main story? I've been spending my life points killing the event prism and I've got the SR tickets and the edelweiss from the shop. My chars have 4 and 5 star items. Should my next priority be collecting israeliteels to refine six-star items? Have done char events of course, but since I have so few chars and can't proceed further in chap.3 yet much less chap.4 to unlock better boosters because the game won't let me move on until my rank is higher. I'm kind of lost as to what I should be doing in the meanwhile.
Proceed in story as far as I can until player rank blocks me -> do the main dungeon (cleared B40, could go deeper maybe?) kitting people with 4/5 star accessories -> now what?
Main SSR team is welfare Ruka (Slashing), Maruyama (Dark/Piercing), Yanagi (Piercing, but don't have her A or S so she can only heal), Seira (Blunt), Kanzaki (Frost/Slashing), Aoi (Blunt). Also have Chie sitting on the bench if needed. Leaning towards unlocking the first event from the archive so I can MLB S Kanzaki to raise her level cap unless there's something better to do with my LP in the meantime.
max styles > buy highest tier boosters/chips > get all 6* +4 or 5* accessories > unlock/reroll accessory substats
Once you get decent accessories, levels are the strongest thing you can get. So going for MLB S Kanzaki is good, you should also pick up swimsuit Ruka's style and skill for an AoE for her. You shouldn't MLB S Ruka though.
After that you can do this stuff
I'd say clear the 50th floor first so you can unlock gold hopper dungeon and grab all 天命のチェーン and sell those that aren't good so you can buy the expensive boosters, then go like this

it needs 19 hits to kill them, so use multiple hits skill like ruka or karen if there is no extra turn.
Silence or stun, use attacks with high hit counts
Save your overdrive on them
Find out which of your units hit 3 times with their normal attacks. Put 3 of them in the front line, so you get 9 hits per turn. Either have an extra turn or hope it doesn't run away after the first, so you break its shield with the 18th hit and kill it right after. Karen's lowest-cost attack also hits 4 times in case you don't want to spend 3 turns on it.

The stat check is actually 40 lower. Expect well optimized LB1s to hit about as hard as what you saw in the last 2 images. So long as you think you can survive the incoming damage, I'd say you should try it.

The dark ones thankfully do basically no damage. The more annoying thing is actually making sure you don't have elemental bracelets that match the enemies' weakness - with RC's HP being the sheer fricking obscenity that it is, you're almost certainly going to need every last drop of the OD spam abuse that you can get.
Girigiri, the single target attack hits quite hard. This is probably the hardest weekend boss so far.

The new 31C banner does not have any potential offrate SSes, but rather everyone in the squad at a 0.5% chance each. I quite like this.
They adjusted the HP of the hard mode fight several times before the weekend. I wonder if they're using these fights as a way to deduce the level of difficulty they should apply for future story content.
That would be awful, given nobody plays this, unless you are comparatively very strong and drown in SS so the gains are even worth it. The only way to look at story difficulty is story difficulty. Everyone is gonna play that at some point. Everything else is very unsuited.
On another note, the new 91+35 went by comparatively fast, as Monaka decided to crit twice with Shiki. Now I'd like to say that wasn't necessary, but I take it. No SS from all S tickets of this event. Still a total of 0 SS out of all free pulls and S tickets so far.
On another another note, the new banner is pointless. The 50% higher SS banner still runs (I think), and the spark is a literal scam. Unless you whale and want LBs for those chars, pretty much nonsense. But if you whale anyways, you probably don't really care about LBs.
Banners like the new 31C one are perfect if you have a squad you really love, especially if you have their relevant SSes to begin with so you can power up them and only them. No offrate SSes, just all 6 of them at a higher rate. My only complaint is that all you get for sparking is a random squad member ticket, so if you have, say, 5 out of the 6 members you can still miss out on the last one, otherwise I legit hope the 31B equivalent won't happen for another few months because it's one of the few banners I would spend money on.

It can actually, if you're unlucky enough to be like me and have 6 bracelets of the same element type and run into 2 wheels that resist said element. If it's anything other than a dark wheel you're probably going to suffer a bit. On my way to the boss I had to use 4 field heals from Tama despite her, Seika and Bungo all being LB2.
Yeah, my good bracelets are dark because the gems to make them I can farm comfortably at level 12.

No I meant the opposite. Most AoE skills are not elemental (only Wakki and new Ruka), so their element should be irrelevant. I guess it affects your normal attacks though.

Funny you should ask. I just got a Ruka SS dupe from the free pull. All it'll do is raise her stats by 10% because her level cap was already 110.

Is there any point in being good at the prisms anyway? You only need to be good in 1, which for most people I would assume to be the slashy guy. You can then farm that 1 for diamonds and then for the other color gems you can just do the lowest difficulty since they are guaranteed drops anyway
Lvl 12 has a chance for double drops so it's worth it if you reliably do 3-4 turns, at least that's the case for me.
With a strong enough team you can do prisms on auto, which makes doing daily quests so much nicer.
Because dark prism doesn't have any piercing to trade, and able to drop 2 makes it faster to reroll for better stats while being cost efficient for life stones.

Prism 12 and orb boss 1 are definitely wrong. Same border, but orb boss has bonus damage. You can basically not fight that unless you are at 310 average def. aoe will deal 1200 damage at 320. Every single point less adds a good 50. Once you get below 310 this goes quickly out of control.
Field removal helps of course.

The ones that the story focuses on in the story are from other teams and aren't up to interpretation. Relationships from the main team are taking longer to get out of the will-they-won't-they phase. They very clearly have crushes on each other, but Maeda doesn't seem to want to commit yet. It's also not a romance story at its center.
I don't think Ruka and Yuki are up to interpretation either given that they're stated to be the hero and heroine
But if they pulled the trigger now all the other Ruka x [insert girl here] content would be killed off, that's why very few gacha games commit
I do like the occasional Yuina x Ruka art, but I don't think the main story having even Ruka and Yuki professing their love for each other would put a dent in it. If you follow the story at all, you'll know that Ruka and Yuki are the endgame.

Two couples outside of the main squad are 100% confirmed, so it's maintext if that's what you're wondering. The romance isn't the main focus yet though, certainly not for the main squad, but RukaYuki is a foregone conclusion.

There's exactly one potential collab character I'd have any interest in seeing in a game like this. Everything else I'd pass on, whether it's Key, yuri or, heaven forbid, neither.

Getting a bit worried about being wienerblocked later by piercing fights. Unrelated, but are you guys stacking attack boosters on Aoi? She's invincible during her ult anyway so I figure I may as well. Yanagi is the only one I'm piling defensive boosters on right now. Also thinking about using my first reincarnate on Kanzaki so she can get a 4th skill slot unless there's a better option
Don't have Aoi so I won't comment there. But for all but 1 pierce enemy in chapter 4 you can use slash attacks for pierce enemies (just without bonus). You have pierce SS though? Though it feels like most Pierce have crappy AoE.
So with the new overdrive orb, does blunt (especially misarin) is finally useful?
New Orb is 1 use max, only useful if you have spare SP, and pierce/slash characters will still generate more OD.
There are lots of viable/good blunt characters, but blunt is still overall worse than pierce/slash.
